El & Zina Henry, a Beautiful Love Story

They became best friends and officially started dating as a couple on July 7, 1996. They decided to move in together August of 1996. Originally, they planned to get married in 1997 or 1998. However, after careful consideration and conviction from God about shacking, they decided to wed November 9, 1996. Which meant they had 3 months to plan it. When El and Zina started planning the wedding, many family members assisted to make that day special. Zina's cousin, Tony Brown, did the flower arrangements. El's aunt, Althea Henry, catered the food. Zina's cousin, Corey Mayhorn, (who was married just 2 weeks before) was their photographer. Todd Day let them borrow his Mercedes for the weekend. Zina's mother made the veil and the bridesmaids dresses. A friend from their church designed the programs. They were married by Reginald Taylor (husband of another cousin). The wedding was amazing and El and Zina became an instant family including Zina's son, CJ. They spent the evening eating Taco Bell on the River and attended church the next morning. Their honeymoon was spent at the French Quarters Hotel on Madison (which is now the Ballet Memphis).

El and Zina's love story almost ended after infidelity crept in in 2003. However, it took an act of God and four and half years before they healed. That's when their true love story begins. They started a marriage ministry, <a href="http://godsunionmm.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">God's Union Marriage Ministry</a> in January 2007. They began hosting couples in their homes to discuss how to have better marriages. In 2009, they started conducting conferences at their church and around the city. Eventually, they started teaching marriage classes. Zina went back to school to get licensed in counseling. El and Zina now mentor couples for pre-marital counseling, difficult situations, and dating couples.
