After eleven years, we're finally tying the knot! We are so excited to invite you to our wedding in Italy this year. We've found the perfect venue, and are hoping to host a magical celebration with our closest friends and family.&nbsp; We know that a destination wedding is a lot to ask, so we've planned a week full of fun events before and after the wedding to make the week special for everyone.&nbsp;We're committed to keeping this site as detailed and informative as possible so we can host not only a wedding, but a fun and memorable vacation for all.

Welcome to Borgo di Pietrafitta!

We wanted to curate the best of Tuscany for our guests, and so we've chosen a venue that is authentically Tuscan! Finding somewhere to accommodate this was not an easy feat but Borgo di Pietrafitta will be our little slice of Tuscany for the week and we hope you will love it just as much as we do. The Borgo di Pietrafitta is a hamlet in the Chianti hills that commands postcard-perfect views of the surrounding valleys. As beautiful as the venue is, it is very authentic and rustic, and we encourage you to make the most of it! We have exclusive use of the entire hotel for the week, and rooms will be available to book to stay directly at the venue. Space is limited, but there is a hotel a short walk away from the Borgo that has rooms and apartments available for rent as well. Passports and Travel Authorization

Before you pack your bags, make sure your&nbsp;passport is up to date&nbsp;and valid for at least&nbsp;six months beyond your travel dates—this is an important entry requirement for Italy. If you have any questions about the travel documents needed, feel free to reach out, and we’ll help guide you through the process. Better safe than sorry!

Where to Fly Into:

2025 is a jubilee year in Italy, and many of the events will take place in Rome. Rome will be extremely crowded and difficult to navigate. Rome is only a few hours drive from the Borgo, so it's a logical option to fly into, but keep in mind that if you choose to stay a few days to visit Rome, it will likely be very overcrowded and chaotic. Florence International Airport, Peretola (FLR)~45 minute drive to the venuePisa International Airport (PSA)~1.5 hour drive to the venueRome–Fiumicino International Airport "Leonardo da Vinci" (FCO)~3 hour drive to the venue-- From the airport, you will need to rent a car or book a transfer service to the Borgo. Renting a car will give you the most flexibility if you would like to explore Tuscany beyond what we have planned!

Getting Around

Once you've arrived in Italy, you will need a car to get to the Borgo. We recommend renting a car directly from the airport to get here. From Florence, it's less than an hour by car and the drive is scenic and unproblematic (trust me, if I can do it, anyone can). If you are uncomfortable driving in Italy and want to be matched with another group attending that may have space for you, please reach out to us and we can coordinate. PLEASE NOTE: When driving in Italy, they issue speeding tickets via camera, and there are MANY of them. When I drove to the Borgo last year, I got 4 speeding tickets in two days. Trust me, your rental car company WILL charge you for them.

Borgo Vescine

A stay at this cottage places you in the heart of Castellina in Chianti, a 1-minute drive from Casa Vinicola Luigi Cecchi and 11 minutes from Isole e Olena Winery. This cottage is 11.9 mi (19.2 km) from Santa Maria alle Scotte Polyclinic and 13.8 mi (22.2 km) from Stadio Artemio Franchi.Be sure to enjoy recreational amenities including an outdoor tennis court and a seasonal outdoor pool.Free self

See the <a href="https://www.theknot.com/us/madeline-newman-and-tyler-munson-aug-2025/dress-code" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">dress code page</a> for specific event attire, but in general I recommend packing lots of linen, swimsuits, a combination of fun shoes / shoes you'll be able to walk in grass/gravel in, and as many bright colors as you can fit in your suitcase.&nbsp;

Unfortunately we're unable to host any children at any wedding events or in the hotel.&nbsp;

Individual invitations include a plus one, it should prompt you to add a name at RSVP. If you do not see this, please text us. We're so grateful so many of our friends and family will be traveling to celebrate with us, we want everyone to feel comfortable and have a great time.&nbsp; If you've been invited as a couple or a family, those invited will be included on the invitation.&nbsp;

Borgo di Pietrafitta Relais can accommodate 68 people to stay onsite! A number of watchtowers, a school and many other old buildings in the ancient village of Pietrafitta have been rehabilitated to create 15 splendid apartments and an additional 8 rooms. There are a number of larger apartments to fit larger groups / families which we will allocate based on the needs of our guests.&nbsp; We are subsidizing the cost of each room to make it more affordable for people to stay onsite and reduce the need for transportation. The cost of a double room is $200 per night including breakfast and euro conversion.

The Borgo includes complimentary breakfast each day and housekeeping for all rooms. We have dinner events planned each evening for all guests. Hotel staff can help you coordinate additional activities and spa treatments upon request.&nbsp;Yes, there IS air conditioning in all rooms :)

We completely understand that not everyone will be able to stay Monday -&nbsp;Friday. We'd like to prioritize rooms at the Borgo for those able to stay the entire duration, but please reach out if your dates vary at all and we may be able to accommodate! That being said, we would LOVE for everyone to stay as long as possible so we can spend individual time with everyone.&nbsp;

August in Italy will be hot! There's a pool onsite that is available to all guests, but please plan to wear light layers and sunscreen.&nbsp;

Rehearsal Dinner Attire 

Summer Cocktail Slightly more formal than the welcome party Midi or short dresses/skirts for women and collared shirts / pants for men. Linen is highly encouraged for men, jackets/long sleeves are not necessary. No shorts or white dresses please. Please note, the rehearsal dinner takes place at an Enoteca down the road. It is about a 3-5 minute walk on a gravel road. I will be wearing heels regardless, but please choose shoes according to your ability to walk in them. Wedding Day Attire

Italian Summer FormalMood board <a href="https://pin.it/7pUNEfH8q" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">here</a> Think “elevated summer flair”—a bit less formal than black tie, but still formal. It will be hot, so I highly recommend linen suits or breezy separates for men, and lightweight midi or maxi dresses—silk, chiffon, or anything airy—for women. Style-wise: the bolder, the better. Bright colors, fun prints, statement accessories—nothing is “too much” (unless it’s white or a wedding gown). If you’ve been saving a fabulous, over-the-top dress for the right moment, this is it. The vision is for everyone to look like a vibrant, joyful bouquet in photos.Please avoid neutrals or black if you can. That said, feeling confident and comfortable is most important—so if you feel best in black or a neutral, wear it! Men: colored suits are encouraged, but if that’s not your vibe, neutrals are totally fine. A quick shoe note: the ceremony area includes grass and gravel, so stilettos may not be ideal early on. However, dinner, dancing, and the afterparty will be on solid ground—so if you want to wear tall heels, go for it! And since we’ll be staying onsite, you can always run back to your room for sandals if needed. Don’t feel pressured to wear a practical block heel unless you want to. And lastly (but importantly): please no white dresses.

There are many options nearby for accommodations, see the venue page for our suggestions. We highly recommend <a href="https://www.residenzadelsogno.it/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Residenza del Sogno</a> as it is walking distance to all wedding festivities.

Breakfast is provided by the hotel each morning, and dinner is catered at each evening event. A light lunch will be served on the wedding day and at the post wedding pool party, but we encourage guests to explore the area for other meals as there are so many wonderful options nearby. Here are a few recommendations: <a href="https://www.ristorantenuvolari.it/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ristorante Nuvolari </a>This is a traditional Enoteca about a five minute walk from the Borgo. We'll be eating our rehearsal dinner here, but it's a great lunch option as well if you don't feel like driving. <a href="https://www.tavernasquarcialupi.it/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Taverna Squarcialupi </a>This is a fun and lively taverna just a 7 minute drive away from the Borgo in the charming town of Castellina in Chianti. The restaurant boasts a stunning terrace and view and serves the absolute best pici I have ever had. <a href="https://www.ristorantelabottegadelborgo.it/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ristorante La Bottega del Borgo</a>The perfect small and kitschy restaurant for a long and leisurely lunch. Known for their pasta, the terrace seating has a perfect view of the historic church of Saint Salvador. The restaurant is situated very close to the Borgo in the town of Castellina in Chianti.

Wine Tasting

This pocket of the Chianti region is a stone's throw from dozens of small wineries making the ever iconic, Chianti Classico. Our recommendations are below. <a href="https://www.ilmolinodigrace.it/Wine-Tasting.html" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Il Molino di Grace</a>Stunning winery a short drive from the Borgo with a large outdoor space and expansive wine cellar. No reservations required and they serve very yummy snacks. <a href="https://montebernardi.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Monte Bernardi </a>An adorable hilltop winery devoted to the Chianti regions' most traditional and original wine making methods. The vineyards onsite are biodynamically farmed and the wines authentically encompass the local terroir of the grounds. The location also has ample shade, perfect for a warm August afternoon. <a href="https://famigliamazzarrini.it/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Poggio Amorelli</a>The closest wine tasting experience from the Borgo, this winery offers wine and olive oil tastings with a beautiful vineyard view. It's located just a 4 minute drive away, or if you're feeling adventurous, a short bike ride (or long walk but that's prob not a good idea). They offer pairing experiences for both snacks and a full lunch.
