Craig Melvin, a broadcast journalist known for his work on NBC News and MSNBC, joined the Today show in 2018. He's covered a wide range of topics including politics, news and human interest stories. Craig Melvin's wife, Lindsay Czarniak, also works in media; if you're an NFL fan, you'll recognize her from her sideline reporting on Fox Sports.
The couple first met in 2008 when they worked together at WRC-TV in Washington, DC. They were colleagues and friends at first, but eventually began dating. They tied the knot in 2011 and now have two children together: a son Delano (10) and daughter Sybil (7). When the couple aren't traveling for work, they're at their home in Connecticut.
In a story from People, Czarniac said that the dynamic between her and her husband is "similar to probably what a lot of other couples have," and that they're able to relate to one another professionally, too.
"We make it work and it's been very, very helpful to have someone who understands crazy hours and all that kind of thing," she said.

Craig Melvin's wife is an American sports anchor and reporter. She was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and graduated from James Madison University with a major in online journalism.

She got her foot in the door as a student when she became an intern for WUSA (channel 9) in Washington, DC. Her broadcasting career began as a CNN production assistant, but she had her first on-air role while working for WAWS in Jacksonville, Florida.
In her first major assignment as a reporter, Czarniak traveled to Turin, Italy to cover the 2006 Winter Olympics for NBC Sports. Czarniak also served as a reporter for NBC Sports' coverage of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.
After spending six years with WRC-TV (where she met Melvin), Czarniak joined ESPN as a SportsCenter anchor. She left ESPN in 2017 and now works for Fox Sports as a sideline reporter for NFL games.

According to The Washington Post, the Today show anchor first met his wife while the cameras were rolling.
"Well, look who's back from China," he said to Czarniak when introducing her sports segment on air for WRC-TV. "Oh, hello, Craig Melvin," she responded. "I've never met you before. Good to meet you!"
While the pair were only colleagues and friends at first, Melvin eventually initiated their courtship. Czarniak was reluctant to become romantically involved with a colleague, but she agreed to meet him outside of their professional realm.
"I think for a long time the work factor was more of an issue for me than it should have been because A., I didn't realize what the possibility [of the relationship] was, and B., I had not been in that position before," Czarniak said. "I didn't want to screw anything up."
"That night when we met, there was something that clicked. And it wasn't necessarily that I knew, 'I have to be with this guy.' But it was like, 'I don't want to be with anyone else that I'd hung out with,'" she recalled. "It felt like being with the person that really gets you and that you've known for a really, really long time."

According to The Washington Post, Melvin asked Czarniak to go on a date in October 2009. She agreed, and the pair had dinner at Cafe Atlantico. "He looked like Cliff Huxtable," Czarniak recalled, referring to the outfit Melvin wore.

March 2011: Craig Melvin and Lindsay Czarniak get Engaged

Melvin popped the question to Czarniak during a trip to Miami, Florida, in March 2011. According to The Washington Post, Melvin chartered a late-afternoon sailboat.
The couple kept it quiet for a while, but eventually news started to spread.
"No, this is not an April Fool's stunt," Czarniak said in an NBC report that came out April 1, 2011. "We are, in fact, getting hitched -- and we're stoked!"

According to People, Melvin and Czarniak were married at the Church of the Holy City in Washington, DC.
After the ceremony, they went to the Hay-Adams Hotel for their reception, where they celebrated with roughly 200 guests.

"12 years ago today. Fitting that on this day @craigmelvinnbc and I are playing each other in our family fantasy football league," she wrote in the caption. "My win probability may not be in my favor for the matchup in fantasy today but I'd say I won in the real life category of finding the right person to spend your life with. Love you, Melvin. November 2023: Craig Melvin Announces the Release of his Children's Book

In November 2023, Melvin announced that his children's book, I'm Proud Of You, will be released on May 7, 2024. He posted a photo of his book's cover to Instagram, along with a caption that highlights how much he loves being a dad.
"I have many passions in life, but what I'm most passionate about is being a father," he wrote. "I'm Proud Of You is a celebration of the small things in life, and a book for anybody who has experienced the joys and wonders of parenthood and wants their children to know how amazing and inspiring they are."

On October 15, 2011, Melvin and Czarniak tied the knot at the Holy City Church in Washington, DC. According to The Washington Post, many of the couple's former colleagues, including Jim Vance, Doreen Gentzler, Wendy Rieger and Dan Hellie celebrated with the then-newlyweds.
Czarniak wore a strapless Kenneth Pool gown as she walked down the aisle on the arm of her father. After exchanging vows, they were serenaded by Lee Anne Myslewski, who sang Miranda Lambert's "Makin' Plans."

According to People, Delano actually played a role in naming his sister. He called her "Sibby," short for sibling, while Czarniak was pregnant—so they decided on Cybil to keep the nickname.
Although Delano is only 10 years old, it seems like he might be following in his parents' footsteps when it comes to working in media.
"I'll tell you about a moment that stood out for me was when my son came with me to work," Melvin told Hello. "He got to interview Jimmy Fallon. He helped Lester Holt interview him. How great is that."
"It was legit the first time where I got the impression he was mildly interested in what I do for a living," he added. "He's interviewed a few other people too now and that's exciting and wonderful to see."
