How to Decide Where to Propose in Jacksonville
Choosing where you'll propose in Jacksonville is no easy feat, which is why we're here to help. That said, there are a couple of key factors you'll want to keep in mind while you narrow down your perfect location for popping the question.
Regardless of whether or not you're working with a proposal concierge service to help you stay organized throughout the planning process, you'll first need to think about the type of proposal you want to execute, whether that be an indoor or outdoor one, a beach proposal, an aquarium proposal or anything in between.
Korman notes that when choosing a proposal spot, it is best to hold space for sentimental locations and/or those within which you can potentially create some privacy (unless your partner has specifically requested a sensational moment that garners public attention). Since Jacksonville has the potential to be a busy area filled with tourists depending on the season, you may find it increasingly difficult to find a quiet spot (if that's what you want) without making prior arrangements and/or reserving a proposal package.
If incorporating a Florida sunset is a must-have for your Jacksonville proposal, "keep in mind the sunset times and always consider an indoor rain backup if utilizing outdoor areas," Korman adds. "I highly recommend coordinating with the staff of any hotel or restaurant in advance so that they are prepared and have the ability to personalize your service and anticipate what will happen." And, if you want to hire a proposal photographer to snap some photos of your moment (which we think you should), ensuring that professional photography is allowed at your desired preferred proposal locations is essential.
The Best Time of the Year for a Jacksonville Proposal
"The best times [for a Jacksonville proposal] are March through June and then October through November," Korman notes. "I would try to avoid the heat of the summer as well as holidays as places tend to be more crowded."
11 Proposal Locations in Jacksonville
Once you've determined when and the kind of venue you want for your proposal, it's time to select your location. From aquariums to museums, read on for our list of places to pop the question in Jacksonville.
1. Jacksonville Aquarium
If a Jacksonville aquarium proposal is what you seek, look no further than the Jacksonville Aquarium. With more than 30 exhibits and 360,000 gallons of water, you can pop the question in front of your partner's favorite marine creature. After they say "yes," enjoy refreshments in the aquarium's café to top off your fin-tastic engagement.
2. Cowford Chophouse
Situated in a 1902 bank building, Cowford Chophouse is a solid pick for a restaurant proposal venue near downtown Jacksonville. "Cowford Chophouse has a great rooftop bar and elegant restaurant," Korman says. "Reserve the roof for a romantic proposal against the Jacksonville skyline and follow that with a celebration in their restaurant." The restaurant also houses several private event spaces if you want to have any friends or family join the celebration.
3. Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens
If you're proposing to an animal lover, it's hard to go wrong with a proposal at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. After popping the question near one (or a couple) of the zoo's more than 2,000 animals, you can enjoy a meal at one of the establishment's many restaurants, including Trout River Grill or Palm Plaza Café–just make sure to check the hours in advance. If you enjoy your proposal here (which we think you will), you can also reserve some of their indoor or outdoor venues for your wedding.
4. One Ocean Resort Hotel & Spa
Just a short drive from the heart of the city, One Ocean Resort Hotel and Spa can set the scene for your engagement. "This resort is a great waterfront option and walkable to many great restaurants and bars," Korman explains. From the resort's restaurant, Azurea, to its guest-facing beach area (with chairs and umbrellas), there's no shortage of places to utilize for your special moment after reserving a room.
5. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
For a place to propose in Jacksonville, FL, featuring beachfront areas and high-end dining locations, Korman recommends Ponte Vedra Inn and Club. This resort and adjoining club offers more than five dining locations across the two properties. Plus, this resort features a private walkway to the beach, which can be used for proposing. However, it is important to note that you must either be a club member and/or have an overnight stay reserved to utilize the amenities for your proposal.
6. Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens
The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens offers a picturesque location for both art and horticulture aficionados. Whether your partner displays interest in 19th-century European paintings or Norman Studios posters, this venue has permanent exhibits for proposals during any season. Since this venue typically closes at 4 p.m. (and isn't open on Mondays), we recommend checking out the calendar in advance to ensure you plan your proposal during open hours.
7. Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront
When it comes to places to propose in Jacksonville, Florida, with a riverfront view, the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront is what you need. In addition to the riverfront, this hotel features views of the Jacksonville skyline accessible by heading up to the rooftop pool area. If you'd prefer your moment to be more intimate, we'd recommend heading up to that level as early as the hotel allows before other guests make their way up to the pool area–your proposal photographer might even capture the sunrise if you're there early enough.
8. Museum of Contemporary Art
While Jacksonville, Florida, is known for its beach scene, the city is also very focused on the arts and is home to many museums, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art. Although you can pop the question in front of one of the more than 1,000 pieces on display, the museum also houses an auditorium and an atrium gallery. A $300 fee is required if you plan on having a photographer present for a low-impact photoshoot.
9. Friendship Fountain
If you and your partner are seeking a classic proposal location, look no further than the Friendship Fountain. This fountain, nestled at the heart of the city's St. Johns River Park, sprays water up to 120 feet via its 63 nozzles daily between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. This is a particularly favorable location if you want a proposal photographer by your side, especially at night when it lights up.
10. Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club
