Kate Upton Engaged to Justin Verlander, Debuts Engagement Ring at Met Gala 2016

Model/actress Kate Upton has taken to the 2016 Met Gala red carpet with a sparkling new accessory that’s making heads turn! The 23-year-old revealed she's engaged to her longtime boyfriend Justin Verlander, and showed off her stunning diamond engagement ring for the cameras on Monday, May 2.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model confirmed her engagement to Detroit Tigers pitcher Verlander to E! News after she graced the red carpet with her gorgeous new rock in NYC Monday night.

The annual fundraising gala benefiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City is host to many familiar celebrity faces. This year the likes of Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, Brie Larson, and the bride-to-be Upton strutted the crimson carpet in unique fashions celebrating the debut of this year's exhibition and theme “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.”

Though Upton didn't match her gown to the exhibition's theme as wildly as personalities like the shocking (and revealing) Madonna and gladiator-like Emma Stone, it's clear that her single-sleeved shimmering silver number was carefully picked to debut her diamond engagement ring.
