Lara Spencer, known for her roles on ABC's Good Morning America and HGTV's Flea Market Flip, recently celebrated her fifth wedding anniversary. Lara Spencer's spouse, Richard "Rick" McVey, and the TV anchor started their love story around eight years ago, when they first connected on a blind date.

McVey is Spencer's second husband, and although they don't share children together, they have kids of their own from previous relationships; Spencer has a son, Duff, and daughter, Kate, while McVey has three grown daughters.

While you might recognize Lara Spencer on GMA or Flea Market Flip, unless you follow the TV personality on Instagram, you probably wouldn't recognize Lara Spencer's husband. Richard McVey works in a slightly less public-facing field as the founder and CEO of MarketAxess, a global electronic trading forum. Like Spencer, McVey is also a divorcé with children of his own; he's the father of three adult daughters.

In 1981, he completed his undergraduate studies in Ohio at Miami University with a degree in finance. As a student, he played on the university's golf team and was co-captain during his senior season.

In a story from his alma mater's not-for-profit organization, McVey explained, "My experience at Miami was the perfect combination of academic, athletic and personal development."

He continued: "Partly as a result of that experience, I have found interesting opportunities throughout my business career and have had the confidence to take risks when the right career opportunities have presented themselves."

After donating $20 million for the construction of the Richard M. McVey Data Science Building, McVey was named Philanthropist of the Year by Miami University.

Spencer and McVey were introduced by a mutual friend, who set them up on a blind date.

Coincidentally, Spencer isn't the only Good Morning America co-anchor who met their spouse on a blind date; host George Stephanopoulos and his wife Ali Wentworth also first connected that way.

The couple first met on a blind date, which was organized by a mutual friend of theirs.

July 2017: Lara Spencer and Rick McVey take a trip to France

On July 10, 2017, Spencer shared a selfie of the couple in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. She paired the photo with a lighthearted caption that says: "The first 3 attempts at this selfie had the #eiffeltower coming out of my head like a single antenna #smallvictory #paris."

According to reports by People, McVey popped the question in January of 2018 after two years of dating.

September 2018: Lara Spencer and Rick McVey get married

On September 1, 2018, Spencer and McVey tied the knot in Vail, Colorado. The couple had an outdoor ceremony, surrounded by mountains and gorgeous greenery.

On September 26, 2021, the GMA host shared a fun photo of her and Spencer smiling with Will Ferrell at Fenway Park. It was Spencer's first time at Fenway Park, who had a "homerun" of a time, according to her IG page.

July 2022: Lara Spencer and Rick McVey go to Wimbledon together

In July 2022, Spencer and her husband went to Wimbledon together. She posted a cute selfie of the pair seated at the game, holding up a Wimbledon Championships fan.

This isn't the first big match they've attended together; they also went to the US open in 2018, which they later attended in August 2022, too.

September 2023: Lara Spencer and Rick McVey have their fifth wedding anniversary

Spencer shared a stunning series of photos in celebration of the couple's fifth anniversary, where you can see the then-newlyweds decked out in their wedding attire. She paired the snaps with a short-but-sweet caption that says:

"5 years ago today, baby! Happy Anniversary to my partner in crime, confidante and best friend. ❤️❤️😍."

They took a trip to Lake Como, Italy that month to celebrate the milestone.

According to People, the couple got married in an outdoor ceremony in Vail, Colorado, on September 1, 2018.

Spencer wore a sleeveless Adam Zohar lace gown, with a mermaid skirt and sheer cutouts, along with a long white veil. You can see her gorgeous wedding attire in a video she posted to Instagram, which shows her being walked down the aisle by her son.

Meanwhile, McVey sported a chic black and white ensemble, with a white suit jacket and black bow tie.
