Fans love Madelyn Cline thanks to her role as Sarah Cameron on Netflix's smash hit series Outer Banks—and while the show certainly isn't a rom-com, Sarah's romance with John B (played by Chase Stokes) is undoubtedly a highlight. Cline and Stokes made headlines when they started dating in 2020, turning their on-screen relationship into a real-life fling. Although the actors are no longer together, they maintain the highest form of professionalism on set. But who is Madelyn Cline's boyfriend now?

The 26-year-old has had a few high-profile romances since her split from Stokes, including a brief relationship with comedian Pete Davidson. We break down Madelyn Cline's dating history here, including the latest news on her relationship status.

In this article:

Who is Madelyn Cline Dating?

At the moment, Madelyn Cline is single and does not have a boyfriend. Her most recent relationship was with comedian Pete Davidson, who she dated for a few months from September 2023 to early 2024. Us Weekly first broke the news when the pair were spotted enjoying breakfast at the Beverly Hills Hotel in LA. They kept things low-key over the next few months, but reports broke that said Davidson's family was "very happy" about the pairing. Ultimately, though, Cline revealed in her September 2024 profile with Nylon that they split earlier that year.

Madelyn Cline's Relationship History

Ever since she became a household name after Outer Banks premiered in 2020, fans have been fascinated with Madelyn Cline's dating history. Look back on her high-profile boyfriends here, from Chase Stokes to Pete Davidson.

Madelyn Cline's most recent boyfriend was Pete Davidson. Whispers of romance took off in September 2023 after they were seen together at the Beverly Hills Hotel. A few days later, the actress took in one of Davidson's sets at The Chelsea in Las Vegas. "Madelyn and Pete have been dating for several weeks but have grown close fairly quickly," an insider told Us Weekly, adding that they "wanted to keep things under wraps" because "they assumed there would be a whole frenzy surrounding their relationship."

In October, Cline joined Davidson for a Saturday Night Live after-party in NYC. Just before the holiday season kicked off, another source told Us Weekly that Cline had his family's stamp of approval: "Pete's mom and sister think Madelyn is lovely. They're very happy for Pete."

After a few more public sightings, Madelyn Cline and Pete Davidson's relationship cooled off after the turn of the new year. In her September 2024 profile with Nylon, Cline confirmed they split a few months earlier, and said she would "rather not talk about their relationship." But when asked about dating someone whose love life is the talk of the internet, Cline quipped, "The jokes write themselves."

Jackson Guthy

Madelyn Cline dated musician Jackson Guthy for a few months in 2022. The songwriter, who previously dated Olivia Jade Giannulli, was first seen with the Glass Onion actress in June of that year. Following a few sightings that summer, Cline revealed to The Cut that she shared a house in Malibu with "her boyfriend and dogs," though she still didn't confirm his name.

In February, Cline opened up to Cosmopolitan about their love story, saying, "I've truly never been happier, and I feel very, very empowered," noting that she was "happily taken" and felt "incredibly happy" in her relationship. She finally confirmed his identity in a March birthday snap shared on her Instagram Story. Alas, by July of that year, things appeared to have gone south. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Cline unfollowed Guthy on social media, a fact that was confirmed when she was spotted with Pete Davidson not long after.

Zack Bia

Madelyn Cline was briefly linked to DJ Zack Bia in December 2021 after cameras captured the two leaving an LA restaurant. Although sources claimed they were heading to something serious, Bia clarified the status of their relationship on Barstool Sports' BFFs podcast in January 2022, quelling the rumors. "We are not dating. We hang out all the time," he told hosts Dave Portnoy and Josh Richards. "It is one of those things where we really enjoy hanging out and enjoy going to dinner. But we never officially started dating and probably will never officially stop because we are just hanging out. We are enjoying it and not even thinking about what it is."

Chase Stokes

Perhaps Madelyn Cline's buzziest boyfriend was her Outer Banks co-star, Chase Stokes. The on-screen couple began dating in real life after they wrapped filming season one of the Netflix show. Fans picked up on a potential romance when they began leaving flirty comments on each other's Instagram posts. Then, in June 2020, they confirmed their relationship by sharing a photo of a sweet picnic on the beach with the caption, "Cats outta the bag."

In November, Cline opened up to Entertainment Weekly about dating her on-screen boyfriend, saying, "It's cool to share this experience with your favorite people and also your favorite person…I feel very happy." Shortly after celebrating their first anniversary in April, the celebs took home the award for Best Kiss at the MTV Movie and TV Awards, where they delighted fans with a smooch on-stage while accepting the trophy.

By the end of the year, though, a lack of public appearances together indicated that the two went their separate ways. Their breakup was confirmed when Cline was seen with Jackson Guthy in the summer of 2022. In a sit-down with Cosmopolitan in February 2023, Cline opened up about how they both maintain professionalism on set with the rest of the cast. "We always said that the job remains untouched. Nothing else, personal or negative, will touch the job," she explained. "And while that's not always easy, our job is to leave the show better than we found it, to leave the season better than we found it. And I'm really appreciative of that."
