These Star Signs Have the Best Zodiac Marriage Compatibility
Finding the love of your life means seriously contemplating what you're seeking in a partner, understanding your deal breakers and nailing down your personal and shared long-term goals. But while aligned life values and a deep connection are key priorities in choosing your partner, zodiac marriage compatibility is something fun you can look into while dating, too. You may even find that it's eerily spot-on with how well you two get along personality-wise.
As fun as it is, though, zodiac compatibility isn't meant to be taken too strictly—there's so much room for nuance! "Relationships and marriage are complex, and I think any sign can make it work with any other sign," says Ryan Marquardt, a professional astrologer and tarot reader located in West Hollywood, Calif. "It's about recognizing the inherent strengths and challenges that any zodiac sign pairing might bring, and both people being willing to capitalize on the opportunities while working through the more difficult areas."
Keeping all this in mind, we're highlighting what zodiac signs should marry each other (and which may have more challenges) according to the stars.

The 7 Best Zodiac Pairs for Marriage
When considering the most successful zodiac marriage pairings, Marquardt says you must look to your seventh house in your birth chart. (There are plenty of sites and apps like Cafe Astrology and Co-Star that'll help you figure out the entirety of your birth chart, including your star sign, moon sign and more.) "The zodiac sign that falls in your seventh house can provide important insights about what you need in that type of committed relationship."
Gemini and Libra
These two signs get along so well because they're both air signs that love open and honest communication. "Everyone knows how important communication can be in the success of a relationship, and Gemini-Libra pairings understand that better than most," Marquardt says. "It comes naturally to them. They're also dedicated to keeping the relationship exciting and fresh while also maintaining a sense of harmony."
Leo and Sagittarius
You'd think that two fire signs might create a bit too much heat, but that's not the case for Leo and Sagitarrius. "These two fire signs are full of passion and usually have a zesty, adventurous relationship that others find inspiring," Marquardt says. "Both of these signs value creativity and self-expression, so it's a dynamic energy that makes both signs feel more alive." They're also both very generous signs, so they take time to provide for each other and satiate each other's love languages.
Aries & Sagittarius
Aries and Sagittarius are another case of two fire signs joining forces for some serious romantic passion and connection. "Both fiery and adventurous, Aries and Sagittarius understand each other's need for independence," says Ophira Edut of The AstroTwins. Aries individuals are known for their ambitious, spontaneous and energetic personalities, while Sagittarians are characterized by their adventurous spirits, optimistic outlook and open-mindedness. This combination makes for a very lively and exciting relationship that allows for personal freedom.
Taurus and Cancer
Marquardt says that these two signs strongly value security and stability in their relationship. This means they're able to tap into each other's needs in a profound way for a deeply nurturing, supportive relationship. "Taurus grounds Cancer's overly emotional tendencies, and Cancer helps Taurus open up and be more vulnerable," Marquardt explains. "They're incredibly devoted to each other and usually end up in long-term commitments."
Virgo and Capricorn
Both of these zodiac signs are earth signs, which means they have a tendency to view relationships in a very practical way. "They know that relationships can be hard work and they're both willing to be responsible and vigilant about keeping the bond intact," Marquardt says. "They have a shared sense of purpose and keep each other in mind when planning for the future." They also are great at supporting each other's goals and ambitions, while simultaneously championing a healthy sense of autonomy and individuality in relationships.
Scorpio and Pisces
Marquardt says this is a strong water sign pairing that grows deeper and deeper the longer they're together. "Both of these signs are emotionally intelligent and they feel comfortable expressing their feelings with each other," he says. "They understand the complexities of life and the importance of having a support system during challenging times, so they tend to remain connected and trusting of each other even when life throws the biggest curveballs at them."
Cancer and Capricorn
Edut says that this water-earth pairing is a case of opposites attracting, calling them the "mom and dad signs of the zodiac." Emotional and nurturing, Cancers are often sensitive and intuitive, placing a high value on home and family life. Their strong and sometimes fluctuating feelings also mean they seek emotional security. Capricorn delivers with their goal-oriented, practical personality. This hardworking and disciplined sign benefits from the nurturing approach of Cancer and their steadfastness brings stability to the relationship.
Pairs That Score Low on Zodiac Marriage Compatibility
While the above sign pairings are known for creating real magic between each other, there are some other combos that may face more challenges—if the stars are to be believed.
"There are a few signs that tend to have friction and conflict more often than others," Edut says. "We've seen this with Taurus-Aquarius, Aries-Virgo and Cancer-Sagittarius to name a few."
"Typically, zodiac signs that are either one sign apart or five signs apart from each other will have more issues because their signs have very little in common, astrologically speaking."
Edut adds that relationships between these pairings can be challenging at times, but not impossible! They can make excellent co-parents and even a power couple when they play to their strengths.
When You & Your Partner Don't Have High Zodiac Compatibility
First thing's first—don't freak if your horoscope compatibility for marriage doesn't get an A+ on paper. As fun as zodiac signs are to explore and consider, they're not the ultimate end-all-be-all when it comes to true marriage compatibility. Real-world factors like long-term goals and aligned values get top priority.
"We don't think a person's zodiac sign should dictate your choice of whether or not to give them a chance or be together. Rather, it can be a helpful guide to understanding one another," says Edut. "We believe that any two signs can have a harmonious relationship, as long as they know what makes the other one tick."
She adds that some zodiac signs have similar temperaments because they're the same 'element'—fire, earth, air, or water—but who says being 100% alike is a good thing? There's beauty and joy in being with a partner who's different from you and keeps you on your toes. And sometimes, the best relationships are the ones that challenge and push us, and the friction created by differences allows for more growth.
And here's another thing: Even with perfect zodiac marriage compatibility you're going to experience ups and downs. Relationships ultimately rely on committing to each other wholly, always working on bettering yourself, honoring and respecting each other and nourishing your relationship.
