Affairs Extraordinaire by Marta

Our son and his bride originally planned their special day for 2020, but due to Covid, they decided to postpone their Garden Party wedding on the grounds of a family estate until 2021. So after a year of stress (weren't we all !) ... The day was lovely, and the couple and bride's family worked very hard to set everything up for perfection. Which would have been easily achievable if the wedding coordinator they worked with for over a year (Marta) had bothered to show up. As it was, Marta sent her B-Team and obviously did not prep them in advance with the detailed instructions needed. The team did their best, but the result was that the bridal couple spent a good part of the day fielding questions and helping to put out 'fires' with the uninformed and inexperienced staff provided by the 'coordinator'. Marta did of course show up at the end of the night to be paid. I can't NOT recommend her enough.

Marta wasn't actually present during our wedding. She knew our wedding (which was held at a private residence, not a large established wedding venue) had a lot of DIY details, but she simply passed us off to an unprepared assistant a few days before the event. The "staff" Marta procured to help us were young and clearly inexperienced, and had in fact only just met her assistant the morning of the event. They were supposed to be a part of our package with Marta all along, but it seemed like they were hired at the last minute. This led to a lot of really poor communication, and even wasted food, lost décor items, and pieces being thrown away. While we felt the assistant did her best (for basically going in blind), we spent the night fielding questions that would probably not have come up if Marta had actually been there, which was very distracting for both of us. A lot of details were missed or executed wrong even though we provided many labels and photos of how we wanted all décor to be placed and look. Marta did show up at the end of the night after we wrapped up - to retrieve her parts and pieces, and of course to ask for money for the staff. Overall, we and our families feel that the level of service we were promised was not rendered, and without listing every detail, suffice it to say I cannot recommend Marta as a coordinator for the simple reason she was not present on our wedding day which we'd spent two years meticulously planning with her, not her assistant.

Working with Marta changed our wedding day for the best!!! She was very easy to work with, she had every decoration we wanted and is very knowledgeable on what works best/ all the tips and tricks. Everything turned out perfect, and beautiful thanks to Marta!

Wedding planning- especially in 2020- is not for the faint of heart, which is why I’m so glad we had Affairs Extraordinaire by Marta as our planner for the big day. Marta knows the wedding industry and she was able to help provide recommendations for the big day (and even some decorations as well as being on standby in case we needed an officiant!) that fit our style as a couple. When we had to postpone our big day, Marta was flexible and truly cared for us as we worked to figure out what was next. When it finally came to our big day, we had to make a lot of adjustments, but Marta didn’t hesitate in being responsive and walking us through our options. She always did so in a friendly, caring and professional manner that felt so personable. Marta helped us in walking through the wedding rehearsal and since many could not attend, she helped ensure it ran smooth even on the big day. When it came to our big day, Marta had boxes of decorations to help set-up and style and this is another place where Marta’s expertise and creativity really shone through. At times, I had a hard time envisioning the big day (although the diagrams and background work Marta shared were incredibly helpful), but Marta knew the best way to set-up the ceremony and reception to maximize flow and make sure the guests saw all the details. When we entered into the reception I was amazed- it came together even better than I envisioned. And it wasn’t just the styling that Marta helped with, it was how she made the whole event come together with seamless transitions. As the bride, I had no worries that day and everything flowed so perfectly and that’s because we had Marta and her assistant with us. I can’t imagine the amount of behind the scenes work they did to make everything seem so effortless. Affairs Extraordinaire is not about cookie cutter weddings- they are about getting to know who you are as a couple and make sure you have a personalized and amazing event to remember. Thanks to Marta’s leadership and work, I do. Even when I dreaded some of the wedding planning details, Marta made it easy and in a very chaotic year, I am so thankful for that. The other thing I loved about Affairs Extraordinaire is that we were able to customize what we needed for the big day from Marta. She also worked very well with all of our vendors, too. I would recommend Affairs Extraordinaire for future brides!

Marta is going to be the best resource you could have for your wedding. Not only does she provide you with tons of information about how to find vendors, address your invites, a timeline for prep, she also has multiple storage sheds filled with decor that is included in her price! Her daughter Kara was the main day of coordinator for my wedding & she was amazing to work with. Marta & Kara had my day all set up and running smoothly by the time that I arrived, ready to walk down the aisle. Due to the pandemic, we ended up canceling at our venue and opted to do a backyard wedding instead, but that made Marta & her team just that much more important. My day would have been WAY more stressful & less fun if I did not have Martas' crew to help it run smoothly. Highly recommend them!
