We had originally hired Akbar as our caterer for our big Indian wedding in NJ in 2020, but due to COVID, we had to change plans (twice!) and decided to make Akbar our venue too. They were so kind about the two COVID postponements and working with them was super duper easy. We had had countless appetizers and entrees and that is all thanks to them! The food was AMAZING (as usual, they have a restaurant also that is just as amazing) and we got so many compliments on it! Love Akbar and I always will, they consistently crush it!

We had a blast at our sangeet hosted at Akbar. We met with Sandeep a few times to discuss the details of our event (and to do a tasting to refine our all-vegetarian menu choices). Everything worked out even better than we'd imagined. Many of our guests commented on how good the food was. The space was a great canvas for our decorator to transform into what we'd envisioned, and it was amazing to see so many of our friends and family let loose and have fun. Sandeep accommodated our requests (some being a bit unusual), and in the end, he ended up personally setting up our name cards! Everything worked out really well -- wouldn't be surprised if many of our guests end up hosting their own events at Akbar too!

Akbar is my go-to spot for all my catering and event needs. Whether its an outside catering for a wedding /reception or a party in their banquet hall, you can count on them to be accommodating and professional at all times. They also have a gorgeous outdoor space ideal for a small summer event or a cocktail hour.

There are few times in a wedding when the couple can say "this is perfect!" Well, Sandeep and his team at Akbar are absolute perfection! The food is incredible! We regularly dine at Akbar's Garden City location and we love their food. We love them so much that we had them cater our wedding weekend this past May. Across a number of days and events each showing was better than the last. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the food. Akbar specializes in all the different cuisines that make up 'Indian food' as well as popular Indo-Chinese dishes. Their deserts are eclectic and delicious. They have lots of experience catering intimate & large gatherings; the management will work with you closely to ensure each event's menu reflects your favorite dishes and vision. We would fully recommend Akbar catering for your special event!

We did all our catering from Akbar (Sangeet Dinner, Wedding Lunch and Wedding Dinner) and the staff and service of Akbar has by far exceeded our expectations. The food was really good. All our guests loved the food. Thank you Sandeep and team for making our day really special with great food and good service.

When we first met with Sandeep from Akbar, he was very friendly and accomodating. It seemed that Akbar would be able to provide exactly what we needed for our Indian wedding ceremony. However, he never provided us with a contract, although he said that he would. It would have been helpful to see what was included for the price we were paying, but it was very haphazard. We ended up selecting a menu of three appetizers (that were supposed to be passed around during the cocktail hour), two entrees, regular naan, onion naan, and mango lassi (that was also supposed to be passed during cocktail hour). We were required to pay for an Akbar representative to come to the location to monitor the food service. Although we communicated to Akbar that our ceremony would be starting at 11am, and our cocktail hour would be starting at 12 noon several times, Akbar prepared all appetizers to be ready at 11am. The attendant from Akbar came up to me (the bride) before I walked down the aisle saying that I apparently told them that cocktail hour was starting at 11 and now the appetizers would be soggy. Very rude. The appetizers were not passed, instead, served as a buffet. The mango lassi was not passed, instead placed in pitchers on the tables (no one knew what it was). The entrees were cold. The only reason I am giving Akbar a star is because the appetizers (although soggy) tasted pleasant. A lot of miscommunication could have been avoided with a contract. Sandeep was also very rude to me on the phone when I called to finalize the menu, saying that he could cater for a minimum of 50 guests (although at that point, I only wanted to cater for 35). This made my bill significantly more expensive AND resulted in wasted food. Again, without a contract, Akbar will have problems adhering to their "policies" going forward. Of all the vendors I used for my wedding, Akbar is the only one that I plan to report to the Better Business Bureau.
