Arbor Room at Popp Fountain

The venue was beautiful, staff wonderful and food delicious. The wedding reception was wonderful until I went out to my car at the end of the night. 19 vehicles (including mine) had their windows smashed in by vandals. The security provided was a joke! We were informed this was the 3rd occurrence in 3 weeks at this location. City park police/security had one person in an unmarked car and in a handicapped parking space at the venue’s entrance gate. She sat in the vehicle with her windows up (unable to hear what was going on) and unaware that 19 cars were having their windows smashed in. The security detail should include armed NOPD or Sheriff deputies patrolling the parking lot and grounds like so many other venues provide. The security guard was unable to do anything to assist the situation. After the last few weeks of this same incident the venue should have ensured proper security to avoid this occurrence. Those booking this venue should insist upon true armed police security detail at this venue. The contracted security detail is ill equipped to ensure that the patrons and their vehicles are safe, especially considering the high crime and low police availability in Nola.

We got married on 4/6/19 at Popp Fountain and the Arbor Room and we could not have been happier with our experience. Right when we met Wendy Lentz to walk through the venue, she was so positive, helpful and such a “yes” person – she was immediately easy to work with and that was a huge reason why we chose this venue. We got married outside in front of Popp Fountain, which was beautiful and spacious and then had our cocktail-style reception at the Arbor Room. The Arbor Room was convenient because it was just steps away from Popp Fountain, and it was great for our guests because it allowed guests to choose whether they wanted to be outside on the deck or inside in the open and bright spacious room. The staff, particularly Kim and Courtney, were so friendly and helpful throughout the whole night. They had a whole spread of food waiting for us after the ceremony in the private bridal suite, so that we could eat, which was great since we usually hear the couple never eats! In terms of photos, City Park is the perfect location for “first look” or bridal party/family photos. The trees are lush and the scenery is breathtaking. Regarding food, our guests absolutely LOVED the food from City Park’s in-house catering. Guests raved about the beef tenderloin, turkey, shrimp and grits and mashed potato bar. We are based in Brooklyn, but with the help of our wedding planner (Becky Lampp, Spanish Oak Events) and Wendy, we never felt far away from the planning/details. We are also a lesbian couple and felt accepted and welcomed by the entire staff. From the venue walk through to the end of the reception, Wendy and her whole team were so easy to work with and professional. We would highly recommend this venue.

Popp fountain is absolutely breath taking in the spring with all of the flowers in bloom. The arbor room is beautiful and spacious. The staff at City Park were absolutely wonderful. Our guests loved the food and the space. Our day of coordinator was amazing and I cannot speak highly enough of him. He was attentive and professional and made our day go seamlessly.

I am a native New Orleanian and got married here on 3/31/18. After a careful search throughout venues in the city, I was able to visit this venue about a year beforehand. Even at that time, the weekends were filling up a year in advance, so book early! I had my ceremony outdoors at Popp Fountain under the most beautiful weather that anyone could ask for and the reception at the Arbor Room. April was my point of contact and was very knowledgeable, kind, and accessible via email and phone. I know she won't mind me saying it but she really loves City Park and in fact her own daughter got married in City Park! She was extremely helpful every step of the way and offered us information via the phone and emailed the brochure with pricing information immediately after our initial conversation. She arranged for a tour to look at the facility. I would suggest going to see it at a time/date when they are setting up for a wedding or event to really see the venue light up. I went and saw it on a Saturday around 3-4pm when they were setting up for a wedding that evening. April worked with me and my wedding planner that I hired to set up a time for rehearsal, document details for the ceremony, as well as create a layout for the Arbor room. She met with me and my wedding planner 3 times at the Arbor Room to go over layout and logistics. Just FYI, on the day of the wedding, the City Park of New Orleans staff coordinates the reception and my wedding planner was asked to not take the lead on it. (There were no issues that night that came up and I was extremely happy with how everything went, it's just an FYI!) Right after the ceremony, we took pictures and then my husband and I went into a private room where April and her staff brought us food, all of the hors d'oeuvres, and drinks and made sure that we had food in our stomachs. This was amazing because I have heard many stories of bride and grooms not getting a chance to eat at their own wedding and it gave us a chance to be by ourselves and enjoy a moment together. During the reception in the Arbor Room, April and her staff were very attentive and made sure someone was always by me, my husband, and my parents ensuring that we always had a drink in our hand (or waters!) and always asking if we needed anything. They really give you the VIP treatment! At the end of the night, they send you off with a gift basket (sorry to spoil the surprise), and they pack some food to go for you and your new spouse. The City Park staff working at the Arbor Room were top notch, all of the guests kept telling me how great all of the service was! If you book the Arbor Room and Popp Fountain for your wedding, you will not be disappointed.

Everyone here helped make our wedding perfect. All of our guests have been raving about the service, the food and even how beautiful the venue itself was.

The City Park Staff knows what they are doing and can follow your lists perfectly. I did almost all my own decorations and April and her team had no issues following exactly what I wanted in locations, exactly what I wanted on the timeline, and every time I turned around they were holding a water and a glass of wine/champagne for me. I was looking at venues during the sales groups off Season (summer time-early September) and at first my original sales lady never responded to emails or phone calls. I ended up asking to switch the April and it was perfect. As soon as I saw the locations and a deposit was put down communication between us was exactly what I needed. If I sent an email or called her, I always heard back from her in reasonable amount of time. I HIGHLY suggest doing up-lighting in the Arbor Room if you have a night wedding. The space is beautiful and the change in lighting I think is necessary. We received a lot of compliments from our guest on the quality and the amount of food. Everyone loved how fun and nice the staff working the entire event was as well. The time flew by, if you can afford it, I would say add that extra hour onto the reception!

I could never have dreamed how perfect my wedding reception was! The staff, location, food, beverages, decorations, everything was just absolutely perfect! Everyone at City Park was an absolute pleasure to work with. The staff was professional, helpful and so sweet to my family and guests, from the beginning of the process until the end of the reception gathering all the gifts and leftover food. The Arbor Room was the perfect wedding reception venue for us.

Popp Fountain and the Arbor Room were exaclty what we were looking for. From the very beginning every one was very informative, helpful, and just as excited as we were to plan our wedding/reception. They are pretty flexible and take all of your thoughts and ideas into consideration. Highly recommend using any part of City Park for an event!
