Had a great time shooting here for a wedding as a videographer! Jens, the Conference Services Manager, was very friendly and accommodating. Can't wait to return!
This review has several layers as we hosted an event here, managed a room block for guests, and stayed at this hotel. I will start with the event since that is where our journey begins. We hosted our wedding in December, 2022 at the Maritime Ballroom at the Argonaut. We were planning our wedding for about a year with Diem Tran. Diem is the best event coordinator we have ever worked with. She is extremely friendly, quick to respond to e-mails, and very professional. A big reason we chose this venue is because we felt comfortable with Diem.
The venue itself takes imagination. When you go on a tour it is an empty brick room. However once the Argonaut staff places all the tables put's out the dance floor and up-lights are added the room becomes very charming. There is also the adjacent Del Monte courtyard available for the cocktail hour and for your guests to mingle during the reception.
The catering staff was very professional and the food came out warm and tasting delicious. Great service is a theme of this hotel. Everyone staying in our room block was extremely happy with the Argonaut. The staff was very helpful and nice and even gave our guests welcome gifts that we curated for them. I have stayed at a lot of hotels and have not stayed at one this size where the staff made it feel like I was staying at a friends house.
As for the rooms, this is clincher. The views from the hotel rooms are the best in San Francisco hands down. Our honeymoon suite was a corner suite that overlooked Ghirardelli Square and the Golden Gate Bridge on one side and Alcatraz on the other. Whether you stay in a basic room or a suite you will be staying in a very nice room for a fair price. I will recommend this hotel to anyone staying in San Francisco or anyone in the Bay Area wanting a Staycation.
We had an almost 200 person wedding at the Argonaut Hotel in October 2017. They were fantastic to work with and everyone loved the event! We had both the ceremony and reception at the hotel. Plus, over 65 hotel rooms booked for our traveling guests. We started the planning process with them about 11-months in-advance. There were a few hiccups during the planning process, but the hotel worked them out very smoothly. One being, Emily, the Event Director we signed our contract with left about 5 months before our wedding, The Argonaut Hotel hired a replacement right away, Chanté. Chanté took over the process seamlessly and helped make sure our special day was exactly what we wanted. There was also an issue with the room reservations. The booking link never worked, and it would not work on a phone at all. Crazy that a hotel booking link wouldn't work when booking rooms is the main business for a hotel, but there were system changes taking place. We were also given the wrong phone number for our guests to call to make a reservation. Luckily, that was all discovered prior to the invitations being printed and sent out, and resolved with the help of the team. They assigned Kristin as our dedicated room liaison, and she was fabulous! By the time the actual day rolled around, all the kinks had been sorted. I am a very detail oriented person so I wanted to include a lot of details in the wedding. The hotel helped assist with every single one of them. Everyone tells you to expect something to go wrong on your special day. We had a few minor issues: my bridal suite was not ready upon check-in time, the wrong cake was served to the head and family tables, the setup started later than discussed, and the heat lamps weren't used at the cocktail hour (up to the staff's discretion), but the night was cold once the sun set. With those being the only issues, I would say we won in the "something will go wrong category." The entire staff was extremely accommodating to all of our guests the entire weekend. When I realized the wrong wedding cake was served to our head table, I asked a banquet team member to find at least 2 slices for my new husband and me. He came back with 2 and later a 3rd. Everyone had great things to say about their stay, and the wedding. We had been looking for a more budget friendly option in San Francisco to hold a large wedding. Budget friendly and San Francisco do not really go hand in hand, but the Argonaut Hotel made it possible to have our dream wedding in the city we live in and love dearly!
If you are having a wedding of under 100 people, we had the ceremony outside in their courtyard and then cocktail hour and reception in the maritime room. I can't say enough positive things about the wedding coordinator Chante, who did an amazing job. She was so incredibly helpful and the rest of the staff was amazing. The food was incredible, venue gorgeous! The food tasted exactly like the food tasting and everyone was so happy with their meals. The venue is just beautiful, get married here!!!! I loved every second of it!!!
My husband and I just got married at the Argonaut Hotel. We had spent a lot of time looking at venues but none of them fit what we were looking for. We finally found the Argonaut Hotel in January with our wedding taking place in April! Emily, Melissa and Beth were amazing and worked very hard with us to make sure everything was perfect, which it was. The food was excellent, the venue was beautiful (we had our ceremony outside in the courtyard and the reception inside in the Maritime room), and the staff was very nice. They made sure our wedding and our stay at the hotel were memorable!
My husband and I had our beautiful wedding reception at the Argonaut Hotel on 8/3/13. We had 10 months to plan a reception all the way from NYC and it was so simple with the help of Jordan and her amazing team. We could not have done it without her always being available by phone or getting fast responses via email.
After visiting a couple of places to have our reception, once we saw the Maritime room at the Argonaut we knew it would be perfect for our eighty guest. The natural wood pillars and exposed brick. We fell in love with the steal black door and the location for our out of state guests.
From the moment we started planning to the big day, Jordan fulfilled every request that I had and followed my set schedule. My wedding planner and Jordan were an exceptional team together, which helped make our wedding reception absolutely magical. Jordan is so sweet and so easy to work with. My husband and I had so many questions leading up to the big day, but we never felt like we were a nuisance.
Three days before our wedding, we flew in to talk through all the details for the reception. Last minute details were discussed and Jordan and her team took notes diligently. We were told that the Argonaut would provide table card stand and the ones that we chose, they only had three of and we needed eight. My husband and I were so grateful that there was no hesitation when we were told that they would go out that day to purchase the rest. Wow, what service!
After the wedding we headed to the Argonaut Hotel for our reception and everything looked so beautiful! Everything was set where it was supposed to be; there was food and drink waiting for us in the holding area for the wedding party. I had asked for a mirror for my girls to be able to freshen up and it was there. Ever little detail counts and we were very happy. When the servers began to serve the food they were very polite and always had smiles on their faces like our entire guest did. There is nothing worse than servers with stale faces and personalities; everyone was amazing! My husband and I selected the crusted salmon and chicken for our guests, which was pretty good, but the clam chowder was our absolute favorite. Everything was just perfect.
At the end of the night, my husband and I were treated to a complementary suite. When we arrived to our room, we were amazed how large and beautiful it was! The view was of the golden gate bride, Ghirardelli Square and Alcatraz. We were greeted with a bottle of champagne and a sweet note from the staff congratulating us on our nuptials. Every detail counts, and every detail was very appreciated.
We thank the Argonaut for a perfect reception and experience. All your staff really made my husband and I feel on top of the world. For the short time that we were there we noticed that your staff really know how to welcome guest and make them feel at home. It’s no wonder the Argonaut has been around for so long. You all will forever have a place in our heart and will be back for our one year anniversary!
The Argonaut Hotel was the last place my new husband and I went to look as a potential venue for our July wedding, almost as an afterthought. Thank goodness we did, as within moments of walking into the hotel, we forgot all about that "other place" and were sold on this charming, warm, comfortable historical space with tons of character.
In addition to the setting, the staff is just incredible. Jordan, the event director, and David, the catering manager, couldn't have taken better care of us. They were super easy to work with, and made the sometimes stressful process of planning really fun. They truly went above and beyond. I also appreciated that they were really sensitive to our budget - we were working with a pretty tight budget for a party of 125, but we felt like we were able to do everything that we wanted.
And, when the day finally arrived, there was never a moment that I needed to stress about the details, because they had it totally under control. (this is good for me because I am definitely more of a type-A gal)
I highly recommend the crab and corn chowder - our guests raved about it.
The only downside to this hotel was getting pictures in the neighborhood before the ceremony. It was a beautiful day and thus packed with tourists which made it pretty hard to navigate around in my dress and bouquet. But if that's all I have to complain about, that's great.
Definitely go look at this hotel - you can't go wrong.
We are so happy we chose to have our wedding at The Argonaut! Not only is the location great, but the venue is beautiful! We had our ceremony in the courtyard and reception in the smaller Maritime room. It was absolutely beautiful - our guests couldn't stop raving.
This is definitely the nicest hotel in the Fisherman's Wharf area and the nautical/celestial motif is modern and fun. The lobby is beautiful and the guest rooms are so cute! Another plus - you will be right by the cable car turn around so you can get some awesome cable car photos!
The food is amazing. Our guests couldn't stop complimenting it. We actually go to the attached restaurant fairly frequently (if you go, try the chowders, they are award-winning - we actually had a chowder station at our wedding!).
Finally - the staff. The team at The Argonaut will do everything within their power to make your wedding the most amazing wedding possible. I think that they are incredible.
If I were doing it all over again, I would choose The Argonaut without a second thought and I highly recommend it to any bride looking for a true San Francisco wedding!
At first we were hesitant to have our weeding at the Argonaut hotel because of the price, but like they say, you get what you paid for and let us tell you, it was WORTH EVERY PENNY! We were stunned at the quality of services the Argonaut offered from the venue, staff, and knowledge. We looked at many venues around the city, but fell in love with their brick room (Maritime room) for it's history and layout. We wanted to higlight a couple of individuals that made our day MORE than perfect. Jordan Nimura (wedding coordinator) and David McNerney (on site director) they not only helped us with our thousand questions, but made it all come alive.
My wife was pleased and let me tell you, that is a GOOD thing! we wouldn't change a detail because it was above and beyond. If i had one thing to criticize, is to be prepared to sit back and relax because the staff at this venue got it down to the last detail. If anyone would ask for a venue for marriage, We will always recommend the Argonaut hotel not only because of their service, but their ability to make it memorable! We love the Argonaut!
My husband and I chose the Argonaut Hotel for our 9/1/12 wedding. We visited several locations before the hotel, but knew it was the place for us as soon as we walked in. The hotel has a cozy, nautical feel to it, and we fell in love with it right away.
Jordan, Kristin, and David were absolutely fantastic during the planning process, and the day went off without a hitch! It was more perfect than we could have ever imagined.
David ran our rehearsal and did an excellent job of staying calm when some of our party had trouble getting a cab to the hotel. It went smoothly, and made us more relaxed about the next day.
Jordan and Kristin went along with all of my DIY projects and made them look fabulous in the spaces we used. They tested our DIY iPad photobooth to make sure it was in the right position, and decorated the space so nicely, despite my last minute arrival and basically just throwing all of my completed projects their way.
It was a stress-free day for us, and that's worth every penny. For the city, it's a great deal considering what's included. Expect some nosy crowds in the area, but don't worry. The staff kept them at bay and you don't even really notice them.
We had our ceremony in the courtyard, cocktail hour in the courtyard and Maritime Room, and our reception was in the Golden Gate Ballroom. We had one of the suites for two nights. It was lovely and very large, and provided lots of room for everyone while we were getting ready the afternoon of the wedding.
If you're considering getting married in San Francisco but haven't thought of the Argonaut, please do! You will not regret your decision. It is a beautiful place with a fantastic staff that truly does care about making your wedding day the best day ever!
Jordan and David made our wedding our dream wedding. The attention and service we received was first class. Jordan was always quick to respond to my billions of emails and phone calls. She offered her opinion when asked and never pushed us to do something we didn't want. On our wedding day, David was AMAZING! Our entire wedding went perfectly and smoothly because of him. He didn't blink when guests had weird and annoying requests or a high maintenance family member worried about the cold weather. David was so professional and pleasant the whole time. My best friend is getting married later this year and wants to hire David to run her wedding day! When our wedding ended and we went up to our suite, everything was already in our room, including the leftover wedding cake, gifts, cards, two bottles of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. Our ceremony was held outside in the courtyard and our reception was in the charming Maritime room, it was all so beautiful and perfect. I am so happy we had our special day at the Argonaut and it would not have been as beautiful and perfect without Jordan and David. I would defendantly recommend having your wedding at the Argonaut!
Overall experience: Awesome and perfect!
Price: Extremely affordable, had 85 guests, a nighttime wedding w/open bar with filet Mignon entree, including all service fees and taxes and everything, was only 11k!
took forever to get back to me and then their prices were outragous...even for SF.
I don't even know where to begin my review of The Argonaut. My husband and I chose this fantastic hotel for the site of our wedding and reception and there aren't enough stars in the rating to demonstrate how satisfied we were with the experience.
From the moment that my husband and I decided to make the Argonaut the site of our wedding and reception we felt like we were special members of the Kimpton family. We were originally drawn to the hotel because of it's great wedding package. As you brides out there know places like to nickel and dime you for every little thing, from cake cutting fee to the chair covers. Not at the Argonaut, the wedding package is about as all inclusive as you can imagine. The site is big enough to accommodate the smallest wedding to the largest, with multiple spaces to choose from for different parts of your special day. From the incredible day of the tasting where you truly begin to hash out the smaller details of the day with your menu and wine selection to the conclusion of your event you feel like the top priority to the Argonaut team.
The hotel itself has such amazing charm, the nautical theme is fun and inviting as is every staff member that you encounter, from the bell hop to the front desk and the the fantastic staff of the catering department. As soon as you walk into to the inviting lobby you feel like you are part of the Kimpton family and you never want to check out.
My husband and I started our wedding planning toward the end of 2010 and were impressed immediately at how quickly our emails were answered by Sean McKean (the director of catering). He was always patient and attentive with our many questions and made sure we were always satisfied with the answers. He offered suggestions for both our ceremony and reception that we wouldn't have thought of and he did it in a way that was never overbearing. We always felt like we had control over our planning process with the gentle guidance of someone who definitely knew what he was doing. He helped us to throw an outstanding party. Sean helped us through the minor "hiccups" that happen when planning a wedding and ensured that our wedding planning experience was the best it could possibly be. I couldn't have asked for a more professional, creative and attentive person to work with. He truly made me feel like a top priority on what, I am sure, is a long list of things to do everyday! It was such a pleasure to work with him.
As soon as we arrived at the hotel on the day of our rehearsal we were greeted by the staff of the catering department. They helped us off load the many things that come along with throwing a big event and let us settle into our fantastic "bridal suite". When we again met with them for the rehearsal it became very apparent we were again in wonderful and more than capable hands. David McNerney was incredible!! Our rehearsal ran so smoothly, working out all the little kinks that come with a rehearsal and immediately calmed any last minute nerves I had about how things would go on our wedding day. He was attentive and thorough. He was accommodating with several last minute additions to our guest list making it seem like no big deal, it was wonderful. On our wedding day David ensured that everything ran smoothly. I was told by several guests and members of our bridal party that he was attentive to every last detail and made sure things were perfect for us. You always hear about something going wrong on your wedding d
I held my wedding reception at the Argonaut on October 30, 2010. We looked at almost every hotel/venue in the City and the Argonaut had the best wedding package in town.
It's a perfect location, especially if you have out of towners - it's very "San Francisco", easily accesible and surrounded by things to do. The place is warm, inviting and not too big/overwhelming, and the service is friendly and professional. The decor is classy and unique, without being over the top, and the brick outside and big wood beams inside make for amazing photos. Oh yes, and they do wine hour every night from 5-6 p.m. in the lobby which is super cozy (fireplace and all).
Our wedding coordinator was switched a few months before the wedding, which concerned us a little to be honest, but they did not miss a beat. Our file was current and complete, and we met with the new coordiator to go over everything.
Another great things about the Argonaut is that they only host one wedding at a time there, so the focus/attention is completely on YOU on your most special, important day. Oh and did I mention they comp the suite on the night of your wedding (which is bigger than my apartment). BONUS!
The wedding coordinator, banquet manager and other staff are such a great team who work in total unison with each other to ensure your event is exactly the way you want it, and that you don't have to worry about a thing except having FUN on your wedding day!
We did not hold our ceremonly there but I know others who have, and I would highly recommend the Argonaut for all your wedding needs, including hotel room blocks for guests.
We held our wedding at the Argonaut Hotel in September of 2009 and working with the hotel was the best experience of the wedding. The professionalism of the catering team and especially Regina and David made our wedding. Everything was flawless, organized, and they made sure we enjoyed our event to the fullest. The food was outstanding and the brick look of the hotel put us over the top.
I would recommend Argonaut Hotel to anyone getting married in San Francisco. We looked at a bunch of venues and knew we loved the Argonaut as soon as we walked into the lobby and were greeted by the nicest staff and wedding coordinator/director of catering. Regina, Sean, David and the rest of the staff were incredibly accommodating and saw to it that every question we had was answered. I have to say too, Regina & Sean were the quickest at calling or emailing me the million times I needed something or had questions.
The hotel is in an amazing location, and the interior is beautiful. Our guests kept commenting on how nice the rooms were and the nautical theme was so charming. We used the room with huge columns for the ceremony, moved outside for a cocktail hour in the courtyard, then had the reception in the large ballroom. All three spaces were perfect, well coordinated and set up exactly to my directions. Both the appetizers and the main dishes were fabulous and very tasty as well as beautiful. They have really attentive staff and flexible packages as fas as what you want and don't want.
You also get to stay in the suite the night of the wedding. I would recommend staying the night before too, so that you can get ready with your bridesmaids! The rooms is HUGE and accommodates big wedding parties.
As you can tell I have nothing bad to say - all good! We are still getting compliments on the location and service. I love the Argonaut!
We held multiple events including our reception at the Argonaut during our wedding weekend. Each and every detail was taken care of. Our guests were very happy with the accommodations and the overall service was impeccable. We would highly recommend this venue.
I am so happy that we decided to have our October 2010 wedding at the Argonaut Hotel. Getting married and having our reception there was such an amazing experience. The staff we worked with - Sean, Regina, David and Sarah - all did such a great job to make sure every part of planning the wedding and the day itself was perfect. We looked at several venues in planning our wedding and chose the Argonaut because it truly shined in so many areas - amazing location, beautiful and creative interior, large ballroom, fabulous food, really attentive staff and flexible packages. Definitely call them if you are looking for an absolutely remarkable venue for a wedding in San Francisco.
We had both the ceremony (in the Courtyard) and the reception at the Argonaut, and I truly could not have been happier. The staff at the Argonaut was outstanding in both the planning stages and the execution of the event. The food was fabulous, service was wonderful, and the rooms for all of the guests that stayed were very beautiful and comfortable. Staying right on Fisherman's Wharf was a wonderful plus for all of our out of town guests. I thought the price was very reasonable for a sitdown dinner that included a cocktail hour with appetizers, soup and salad, and one of the main course choices was fiIet mignon. (180 guests) I would highly recommend this venue!
