I am so disappointed to have to write a poor review, especially since my now husband and I were such big fans of this winery before we tried to host our wedding Welcome Party here. The communication was horrendous leading up to the event. To start, we worked with the event coordinator to schedule a tasting to select wines for our event. When we went to our scheduled tasting time, no one at the winery knew we were supposed to be there and the whole thing seemed disorganized. Fast forward to the actual event, the staff was completely unaware there was even an event happening. I was told by both the event coordinator and the person conducting our wine tasting that we would have a bar and a designated server down in the rented area. When we arrived, there was nothing set up, the wine we selected was not laid out anywhere for people to choose from, and no one was there to take people's orders. It wasn't until I went up to the bar and said something the staff finally came down, but that was about 50 minutes into our 3 hour event. I must give the day of staff credit though because once they knew there was an event there, they were great, however it was completely unfair for them not to know there would be 60 people there for an event.
The week of the event, I was also trying to get a hold of the event coordinator to ask about moving the event inside since the weather was supposed to be bad. I was not able to get a hold of her or get an answer from her. I was very disappointed as well as there was supposed to be live music, but this was moved inside due to the weather and no one informed us. If we knew ahead of time, we would have arranged for a speaker or something outside. It really was an embarrassing way to welcome our friends and family to town for our wedding and I am incredibly disappointed that I spent $650 on this event, but Arrigoni provided no services beyond what would have been done if we had simply shown up without any reservation. To make matters worse, we reached out numerous times after to speak to them and still have not heard back. It's been 2 months.
I hate to write a bad review, but dealing with Arrigoni Winery was so frustrating, I feel others should know before booking events here.
I originally booked Arrigoni for my rehearsal dinner, but ended up moving the date/time of my event to host my bridal shower here instead. There had already been a lag in communication, as I had emailed to ask a question about the decor we'd be allowed to bring and did not get a response for 3 months. About 1 month before my bridal shower, I emailed to follow up and also to confirm the time we should come to set up. Nique emailed me back with the old time of my event and when I followed up to ask about it, she did not email back. Instead, she called me (in the evening, at odd hours) and left a voicemail only saying to call her back. I spent about a week worried that they did not have the correct reservation for me. When we finally got on the phone, she confirmed that everything was all set. I'm not sure why this couldn't have been said in an email or voicemail.
The day of the shower, my sister arrived a bit before our set up time and was told that we were sharing the tent we had rented with another party and that we had reserved 4 tables. It took about 30 (stressful) minutes of her talking to them and me calling them before they agreed to move the other party. To be clear, I had paid $650 to reserve a tent to host my event. This obviously cut into our set up time, and we were not able to set up before our guests arrived. This caused so much stress the morning of the shower and I'm so so thankful I am not hosting my rehearsal dinner here. I can't imagine dealing with that the day before the wedding.
The staff were all very sweet as they tried to help us, but part of the issue seemed to be that their manager was not on site to help. I'll also add that there were extra tables and chairs in the tent I reserved, which we had to move out of the way ourselves. I'm honestly not sure what I spent $650 on as nothing was ready for our party. All that was included in that price was the space, tent, tables, and chairs, and yet we still had to rearrange furniture day of. Our group additionally paid for drinks on top of this, including water.
This is all to say that it was 100% not worth it to book my event here. It was so expensive and stressful, they had poor communication, and while the wine is fine, there are far better vineyards in CT.
