STUNNING venue. Perfect if you have out of town guests!!! It’s also BYO, which is a plus. I just had my wedding last week, and my grandparents were traveling from Puerto Rico, as well as other family members. They were able to stay the entire weekend, and it was so much fun. I asked to stay in the Bridal Suite the night before the wedding and it was perfect. I was able to get ready at the hotel stress-free. Have my first look with my parents, grandparents and bridesmaids. We had originally wanted to have the wedding at the outdoor gazebo, but due to the rain we moved it indoors, but still the indoor glass room took my breath away. I had THE perfect wedding day. Gail did a wonderful job!!
I wish I could say my stay at Avon Old Farms was a wonderful wedding night for my guests and I, filled with great memories but I cannot.
The first time we came to AOFH there was some miscommunication between ourselves and the staff regarding which of the hotels we would be touring out of the four hotels in their ownership. We were understanding of the miscommunication/mistake and figured it all got worked out because we were able to see two hotels afterall, but unfortunately the woman who was giving us a tour could not get over the fact the miscommunication happened, and just kept bringing it up, almost as if she was trying to make us feel bad. We overlooked that and assumed it may have just been a bad day for her. We still liked the idea of a small owned business and continued through with the room block.
Once I first made our room block, I was unhappy to hear that one of my guests found a room priced better, from a third party site, than what was offered with my room block. I made a comment regarding this to who was in charge of our block and was only responded with "tell me who their name was and I will add them to your block". Then the night before the wedding my husband and I checked into our room to get settled and it was not the honeymoon suite we were told we would have, and the room smelt like sewage/mold. I originally had called the front desk and was told "all of our suites are the same". After one night of sleeping in the original room my husband decided to talk to the front desk and told him that he cannot be getting ready and coming back into a room that has that smell on his wedding day and that the room was not what we were told we would get. The front desk informed him that the original rooms we were shown were already booked out and gave us another room that was a little better than our first, and at least did not smell like sewage. After being told by another one of our guests that their room was musty and had an air purifier in it we can safely assume the smell was mold. Even when our best man came into the room to help move my husband out of it, he was shocked that my husband was even able to spend the night in that room.
Later, on the night of our wedding, another one of our guests had told us that their toilet would not flush. When they mentioned the issue to the front desk they were told "nobody was there to fix it, sorry." And did absolutely nothing about the problem to make it any better.
My husband and I made it a point to try to use as many small, family owned businesses as possible in our wedding and were happy to have had that when using AOFH in our room block. However, it just turned out to be an embarrassment, as well as a complete let down to us from the second our guests started reserving rooms. Unfortunately it is experiences like this that make us feel as if we were better off going to a franchise owned hotel.
We had our wedding at Avon Old Farms Hotel this past week and we cannot say enough positive things about the venue and the staff. Not only is the venue beautiful but the event planner, Gail, is super knowledgeable, detail-oriented and kind. We had a few last minute hiccups (like unforeseen torrential rain minutes before our outdoor ceremony was set to occur), and the venue staff did not skip a beat to set up an incredible back up plan. I also have to say that Layton was like my guardian angel on the wedding day, swooping in with direction and assistance before I even knew I needed it. I cannot say enough positive things about this place, the staff, and especially Gail and Layton!
My husband and I chose Avon Old Farms because we loved the idea of having our ceremony, reception, and hotel accommodations at the same place.
Gail went above and beyond for everything - she is the most organized, thoughtful and compassionate person to help us through this all. She was honest and accommodating as well.
Layton was there for us during the entire wedding day - he kept us calm and walked us through the ceremony and reception - he was incredible!
The entire staff at AVOF we couldn't speak more highly of. Two of our guests run a Bed and Breakfast and said that it was the best and well run wedding they had ever been to!
The outdoor and indoor portions are beautiful and we couldn't be more thankful for a perfect day.
Throughout the entire planning process (including 1 rescheduling) the AOFH staff was extremely supportive and helpful, answering all of our questions and concerns. Our wedding day was perfect - held outdoors on a summer day. The grounds of AOFH are beautiful and the perfect background for photographs. The bridal suite was the perfect place for all 8 of my friends to get ready with me and taking pictures on the winding staircases was so fun! The food was AMAZING - exceeding our expectations. The staff was so attentive to us, they were incredibly kind and FUN! Everything went on time and as-planned. It was so convenient for our out of town guests to stay as well. We'd absolutely recommend this venue for anyone who wanted a hotel wedding with elegant classic charm.
Having our wedding at the Avon Old Farms Hotel was the best decision we made about the event! Gail was extremely nice, accommodating, flexible, and professional and worked well with all our vendors. We had multiple ceremonies including a Hindu ceremony and a lot of moving parts to our day, as well as constantly changing plans due to COVID. Gail helped us figure out our day multiple times and was always upbeat throughout the process. She answered SO many questions from myself and others leading up to the wedding, and was willing to do several walkthroughs of the space. She really cared about us as a couple and made sure our guests (many of whom stayed at the hotel) had a great time. For example, they provided tea, coffee, and breakfast foods in the morning of and after our wedding even though they did not necessarily have an obligation to do this. The AOF team really went above and beyond to make our day special and safe. The venue itself is beautiful and clean with several outdoor and indoor spaces for different parts of the day. The bridal suite is spacious and sunny. We hired Max’s for catering, and together Gail and Amy were a wonderful, collaborative team to work with. Our experience at AOF was very personalized, and I would highly recommend them to anyone especially if you are having a small to medium sized event!
Where to begin - Avon Old Farms Hotel is the perfect blend of New England charm and elegance. We held our wedding on their back property - the ground were flawless and it took a big event and made it feel intimate and cozy. Our reception was inside of the Towpath Ballroom which has the most beautiful decor and partial glass room. Besides the ambiance - the staff, including coordinators Gail and Layton were always around to lend a hand and work with us from the very beginning. Gail accommodated for every part of our vision and offered suggestions based off of her experience. The Bridal Suite is perfect for getting ready and also provides a wonderful spot for photos. Gail worked with all of our vendors to create a seamless day. The staff throughout the reception was thoughtful and professional, ensuring that we actually made time to eat our meals. We gathered in the hotel bar after our reception and the bartenders were equally as friendly and attentive. This venue made for the truly perfect wedding weekend. It felt less like a wedding factory and more like a personalized experience. If we could do it all over again we would choose Avon Old Farms Hotel every time.
Great place to use as your guests hotel. Service was great and we also did farewell breakfast. Would definitely recommend using them! Also we did use their hotel shuttle and they were amazing!
This was the BEST place I could have ever picked for my big day. The staff was absolutely amazing, Gail especially was always in constant communication and we sent emails back and forth for months! I had so many questions and concerns and the staff made me feel at home and stress free the whole time. I am not a party planner by any means and they took care of everything.
We were initially hesitant about having a hotel wedding, as we didn’t want it to be too boring or traditional, but that was definitely not the case with Avon Old Farms Hotel. It’s absolutely gorgeous and definitely NOT your cookie cutter corporate hotel. Having everyone stay on site made everything so easy-no extra arranging a room block or transportation!!
Gail was always so quick to respond to our questions during the planning process and her and the rest of the staff made planning SO incredibly easy-we didn’t have to do a thing after dropping off our decor and they also had a ton of decor we could use! They did all the set up/break down and made everything look amazing. Super attentive to everything during the wedding & they kept everything right on schedule.
And the food!! They had appetizers waiting for the wedding party after the ceremony, sent guests off with champagne on their way to cocktail hour to distract them so we could do photos. We were able to work with the chef to make some adjustments to the menu and guests were commenting to us all night on how good the food was (especially our vegan friends!) We also did our rehearsal dinner here at the on site restaurant and everything was delicious and super convenient.
As someone who doesn’t have the time or energy to devote to pulling together a dozen or more different vendors to plan a wedding, we are so thrilled we chose AOFH as our venue. It could not have been any easier and everything was beautiful
Avon Old Farms was the right choice for our venue; hands down. Gail was wonderful. She was very responsive to all of my inquiries. Many of our guests went out of their way to tell us how wonderful the staff was. We had many guests stay at the hotel as well. Everything was perfect. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Leighton. He made sure we were on schedule and was there for whatever we needed. I could go on and on about the staff. The venue itself is very beautiful. No regrets on our choice. Highly recommend.
Beautiful venue with inside and outside ceremony options. Due to weather, we had our ceremony in the glass room which was covered but still allowed us to take in the surrounding nature. The hotel gave us the ability to have all of our out of town family and guests stay in one place. It was very convenient to have the hotel, ceremony, and reception all in one location. The grounds made for beautiful photos. The hotel staff was great at coordinating everything. Keep in mind that they host several weddings and events in a weekend and only have a few dedicated event planners. Even though they can be busy, the event will go off without a hitch. We are so happy we chose this as our wedding location and will be able to go back to visit for years to come.
Highly recommend this venue for a wedding! Communication is so important when planning a wedding reception and Gail (event coordinator) was spectacular. From the first meeting to day of our event , she always made sure that she understood our vision. From pricing, to meals, decorations (which she so kindly coordinated the set up and breakdown- not always offered at other venues) and vigilant attention to detail the evening of the wedding. Our guests raved about the meals - especially the filet mignon which certainly matched the finest steak restaurants. Allow yourselves to relax during the stressful wedding planning process (and the day of the event) by having your party at Avon Old Farms!
We had the pleasure of having my daughter’s wedding at Avon Old Farms Hotel in June. From our first encounter with Gail at a bridal show, to the night of the wedding, I have nothing but positive to say about our experience. Avon Old Farms Hotel is a magical venue and I cannot say enough about how great Gail is to work with. She goes above and beyond and gives great advice and guidance throughout the planning process. The space is so beautiful and accommodating – it can suit multiple styles of taste. It is really a classically elegant and beautiful venue. Being able to wrap up the evening and head to your hotel room was fantastic. Even some of our local guests booked a room after the reception. The room block rates were very competitive and fairly priced. The grounds outside were gorgeous to have the outdoor ceremony. There is a choice of a pergola covered in wisteria or a beautiful gazebo. Don’t worry if the weather doesn’t cooperate, the inside spaces for backup are beautiful for a Plan B. We were able to have our cocktail hour outside on their bluestone patio overlooking the grounds. The reception moved into the ballroom afterward a wonderful cocktail hour with plenty of passed hors d’oeuvre and fully stocked bar. We had to use both the ballroom and connecting glass room to accommodate the number of guests we had and the size of the dance floor that we wanted. I was worried that the guests in the glass room would feel excluded, but they really did not. There are huge French doors that open up between the spaces so it felt more like one space. We also had the bar outside all evening so people were mingling and walking between the ballroom and glass room all night. The food and drinks were fantastic. My daughter is vegan and my son in law is vegetarian and Avon Old Farms was able to accommodate multiple dinner selections and choices. We were able to give guests the option to choose between five dinner choices- we had beef, chicken, fish, vegetarian and vegan options. We were also able to have a nice mix of passed hors d’oeuvre that were vegan, vegetarian or had meat options and they were enjoyed by all. The sweet potato fritter and the mushroom with cream cheese cap were all of our favorites, but the rest selected were all fantastic. The dinner choices were amazing and all of our guests were very happy and satisfied with their dinner choices. The butternut squash lasagna was amazing but all their selections were delicious and their portion sizes was just right. The staff at the reception were fantastic, always available and willing to help. Leighton is the banquet manager and he made sure that everything went smoothly. He even helped with the bustle on my daughter’s dress at one point when we couldn’t figure it out. Lots of praise for Leighton and his crew. We decided to do a late night menu that we had in a private room outside of the bar. There is a room set up fee for this but it is so worth it. My only tip is to make sure you order enough because the kitchen closes as soon as those are out and there is no option to get more food added to the order. We could have probably used another pizza and order of wings with the appetites our guests had after all the dancing. Our guests absolutely loved the late night snacks of wings and pizza. It was a huge hit with our guests and the perfect ending to the night.
To add some context to our review of The Avon Old Farms Hotel, I should inform you that we had our wedding reception across the street at The North House. This made Avon Old Farms the perfect location for our guest accommodations as no driving was required at the end of the night to get home. In addition to making hotel accommodations, we were also able to reserve the private dining room next to the bar which is open late to host a post wedding reception party which included pizzas and footlong sandwiches that were pre-ordered and scheduled to arrive throughout the night for our guests to enjoy. There is nothing better than delicious pizza after an amazing night of dancing and celebrating!
We had the pleasure of working with Jenifer Nelson the Sales Manager who helped us to setup our block of rooms and kept us up to date on who had reserved a room in the hotel. This allowed us to follow up with guests whom we knew were traveling to the wedding and make sure they had accommodations. This also gave us a final room count for our welcome bags which each room received upon checking that was full of treats and information concerning the wedding and the area. After the wedding, we sadly found out that some of our guests did not receive a bag which was extremely disappointing. When we received our left-over bags, we discovered that some of our welcome treats were missing. We followed up on this with the hotel manager who was extremely apologetic and accommodating.
Along with the rooms being comfortable, the meals we had in the Seasons Restaurant were delicious, and the bartender was a joy to talk with. The hotel has multiple rooms at different price points that allowed our guest to all stay in the same location and enjoy the amenities but choose a room that fit into their budget. We were also overjoyed that there was not another event the day of our wedding, so we were able to use the beautiful grounds for our wedding photos. Thank you, Avon Old Farms!!!
The hotel was perfect for the large rehearsal dinner and wedding after-party for my daughter's wedding! Jenifer was so easy to work with. The staff was great too. We had the rehearsal dinner in their ballroom. The atrium was magical! On the day of the wedding, we were able to get a room for all the girls to get their hair and make-up done. After the wedding reception, there was another room we used for after-party food. The food was really good and all had a great time!! It was also a beautiful colonial Connecticut setting for my out of the country guests to experience!!! I couldn't be more pleased!
I just had my wedding here this Friday and this venue exceeded EVERY expectation. From the very beginning of the process Gail and Suzanne were the most helpful, sweet, and caring ladies you could possibly wish to work with. I didn't know the first thing about planning a wedding but they were there for me every step of the way and made it so easy. Suzanne was actually the one who helped me find my amazing photographer. The venue itself is beautiful and was the perfect size for my 70 guests. The coordinators and the serving staff were awesome and very professional. Before we joined the reception my dress needed to be bustled and Suzanne was sweet enough to help my maid of honors with the not so easy task. The food was amazing and they were kind enough to bring 2 full entrees to our suite including our slices of wedding cake we had not had a chance to enjoy. The suite was very large and cozy and we enjoyed finding that our card box and gifts had been delivered to the room so we could open a couple when we awoke the next morning. It was truly the best experience of our lives and if you have the opportunity to get married here you couldn't ask for a better venue!
Our experience with Avon Old Farms Hotel and especially with Gail was absolutely perfect. Right from the start Gail gave us a vision of what our day could be like there and we knew we had to go with them. Throughout our entire planning process, Gail was incredibly responsive and on the ball about what we had to do next. Everyone did such an amazing job coordinating with all of our vendors. Our day could not have been more perfect. I imagined that I would be so stressed all day making sure everything was going well, but I did not have to worry about a single thing. Everything was set up exactly how I planned, everything transitioned beautifully, and my husband and I were guided through the day/night with ease. There was not one moment of stress whatsoever. The service was AMAZING and so professional. The venue is of course beautiful inside and out, including the bridal suite. I could go on and on. I would recommend this venue to anyone for their wedding. I only wish we could do it all again!
Our wedding was beyond our expectations and everything we were looking for! We had trouble finding a venue due to how small we wanted our wedding to be ( about 50 people), but Avon Old Farms Hotel had no problem accommodating us. Gail is FANTASTIC! She was there every step of the way. The ceremony and reception was stunning, even with the last minute change due to weather. The team was helpful and ready to step in for assistance. Our guest raved about the wedding, food, and the accommodations.
We just had our summer wedding including the rehearsal dinner at Avon Old Farms Hotel and it was the best decision we made!! First of all the place is beautiful, both the wedding venue and the hotel itself. We were attracted by their glass house at the first glance. Besides, the food was awesome. The chief cook was so cool that he can work with your taste preferences as long as you can name it. Second the staff is AMAZING! Gail and the staff were a dream to work with. They were very professional and experienced. On the wedding day, we had two ceremonies, including a tea ceremony and a formal ceremony. Gail helped us with the planning all the way through, addressing any questions and concerns we had, and eventually made everything flow perfectly throughout the day. Last but not the least, the banquet manager was another high light. Leighton was very accommodating and considerate. We did not need to worry about anything but enjoy our time with our guests. The team helped us to make sure every little thing was taken care of. We cannot say enough about the staff there and how gorgeous job they have done. We would highly recommend the great place to anyone.
This was an amazing experience! My husband and I couldnt be happier with the attention to detail, especially since we were planning the wedding from Florida. Gail and the Banquet Manager made me feel at ease with everything, and they were extremely professional. I did not have to lift a finger all day!! Loved it!
Great venue for wedding! Gail the event director is the best woman! She handled all my our nagging questions and phone calls for an entire 12 months! She was so helpful and really knows what she is doing! Her and Leighton the banquet manager are a dream team! Leighton was one Of our favorites he was on top of everything that was going on during the ceremony and reception! A server accidentally poured wine on one of our guests and Leighton was on top of it getting the guest club soda and drying his suit! He handled us and took us for all the events that occurred during the reception like the cake cutting! The food is wonderful, I’m still getting compliments on the food! The tavern bar has the best bartender his name is J.G and he was responsible for the greatest specialty drink we had! Guests are also still raving about that drink too! He went out of his way to make a bulk batch of homemade vodka and made the whole recipe for the wedding! It was wonderful! All in all planning a wedding is hard and stressful but using AOF as our venue there was so much included and it was a great value within our budget! With a beautiful scenery. If you want a seamless wedding venue that seriously Makes sure the day runs smoothly go with AOF! Thank you Gail and the whole team at AOF for making our wedding wonderful! Katie and Erik 9.22.18
We just had our wedding at Avon Old Farms Hotel and it was the best decision we made!! The entire day was amazing, the staff was over the top accommodating, and the day was truly better than we could've imagined. Gail and Suzanne, two coordinators at the hotel were a dream to work with, they both were accommodating, there to answer every little or big question, and truly made us feel at ease and stress free the wedding day and throughout the planning process. Every step of the way they were with us or even ahead of us. They set up the ceremony, reception, coordinated throughout the entire day, guided and help our guests, and made the day as stress free as possible for us. Layton, the banquet manager was another amazing factor in our day, he was completely accommodating, helped with the day of jitters, and was there with things we needed without us even asking.
We had both the ceremony and reception at the hotel and it was a dream, we held the ceremony outside under the pergola and had the reception inside including the outdoor patio with the fire pit. Our guests (70 guests) could not stop talking and gushing over the venue itself and the staff. Our guests only had wonderful things to say and all said that this kind of venue is one that makes you stop looking at others! Overall, the food, coordinators, staff, packages, planning, and venue was better than we could've imagined. We only have amazing things to say about Avon Old Farms and would recommend to anyone!
We were married in July 2018 and worked with Jenifer Nelson at Avon Old Farms to coordinate our wedding hotel room block as well as our rehearsal dinner on the property. Jenifer accommodated our every need and request and was so helpful throughout our wedding planning process. She booked rooms for over 130 guests and the staff at Avon Old Farms made our family feel so welcomed during their stay. Our rehearsal dinner was held in the Towpath Ballroom and Terrace. The venue was BEAUTIFUL and Jenifer truly planned an event that was catered just to us. We were able to have a cocktail hour so that guests had time to arrive and spend time on the beautiful patio, and then she organized a gorgeous buffet dinner-- all within our budget and with special choices for guests with allergy needs. Our after party was held in The Tap Room and the bartenders and wait staff were extremely hospitable to our large crowd. They catered to our every need and made sure everyone was served in a timely manner. Jenifer was a life saver and was available for our every need. We would recommend Avon Old Farms for everything from a simple hotel stay in a beautiful part of New England to a full on wedding affair complete with hundreds of guests. They're amazing!
The best decision we EVER made was choose Avon Old Farms Hotel for our wedding venue. First of all the place is beautiful both the wedding venue and the hotel itself. Second the staff is AWESOME!!! Gail and her staff were sooo organized and on top of things. They made sure we were taken care of and truly made our day very special. They took care of EVERTHING so we could truly enjoy our big day.
We just had our wedding at Avon Old Farms and it was absolutely amazing! Gail and the staff made everything flow perfectly throughout the night and made our wedding everything we could have hoped for! Gail was also amazing throughout the planning process and helped me with any questions I had. Would highly recommend anyone having their wedding at this amazing venue!
We held our wedding here in April and couldn't have been happier with AOFH. Gail was an amazing coordinator. We wanted a wedding that was slightly less traditional (we had a city hall wedding the week before and wanted a simple reception, no boquet tossing, no cake cutting etc) and we struggled to find a venue that was willing to accommodate our vision. But Gail immediately got what we're we're looking for and was very supportive. The day went off almost completely without a hitch (and any issues that did arise we're handled quickly and quietly). Our guests had an amazing time and have raved to us about how great the food was and how beautiful the space was. Honestly, we would recommend AOFH to anyone looking to get married in the area. We we're very happy with our big day and wouldn't have changed a thing.
The AOF venue is absolutely gorgeous and well staffed. The event planners Gail and Suzanne are amazing to work with and will have your wedding planned out to perfection. The food was delicious and the sangria was loved by all our guests. The event manager josh had the reception run very smoothly. It was an absolute blast and I would recommend this reasonably priced, scenic, and well managed venue to all planning their weddings!
My daughter’s rehearsal dinner, after party and Sunday brunch was held at the Avon Old Farms hotel on the weekend of April 7-8 2018. We also had over 100 guests staying for the weekend! Jenn Nelson handled all the details for us perfectly! We had over 175 guests attend the wedding so had to have it at another location. But if our numbers were smaller I would have loved to have the wedding here! It is an elegant venue! And everyone working that weekend took excellent care of us! The grand staircase and lovely entrance are showstoppers!
A beautiful, accommodating and charming venue with the nicest and most helpful staff! Avon Old farms Hotel was the second and last wedding venue we looked at. The beautiful grounds, wonderful outside space and glass enclosed room for cocktail hour and intimate ballroom were perfect for our 95 person wedding. Honestly, we didn't think that a "hotel wedding" was what we wanted but it absolutely was! Everything, I mean everything, was AWESOME and STRESS FREE. The hotel and actual wedding spaces were clean, organized, well manicured, streamlined and convenient. Having it at a hotel added a level of comfort to our guests and avoided using a dreadful shuttle to and from the event. Gail made the planning process a breeze and made me feel so at ease after every conversation. She had lots of advice to offer but was never pressuring our overpowering. We really benefited from her guidance and expertise throughout the planning process as we were not the most organized bride and groom. The coordination on the day of the wedding was unreal. They knew what we needed before we did! (They even brought extra keys to our hotel room.) A child knocked over an entire table of water and they cleaned it up before I even realized what had happened. We gave them decorations and centerpieces to use and they arranged everything perfectly, even adding in some of their own things to tie everything together. Leighton assisted Gail during the actual wedding day and was such a help. They did more than their jobs-Leighton even carried around my 2 year old nephew for part of the evening to help keep him entertained! He and Gail kept us on track throughout the night and really were there for everything we needed. The wedding planning process was a great experience and the actual wedding day was perfect thanks to Gail and Leighton. We are so grateful for them and for all the staff at AOFH for making our wedding such a wonderful experience. We cannot recommend them enough!!!
Avon Old Farms was the perfect choice for a venue. The room and the grounds were the perfect back drop for a romantic and elegant wedding. I had my wedding there 10/7/17.
If the beautiful grounds weren't enough, the people are what make the venue even better. Gail is PHENOMENAL! She walked us through everything, she had great input and didn't miss a step! She was so helpful and kind to work with. The rest of the staff follows suit. Everything was done for us and we didn't have to worry about a thing.
It was so helpful that everyone could stay right there at the hotel and after they wedding Gai even planned snacks and after partu food for the bar. We didn't have to worry about anything.
Avon old farms made for the PERFECT wedding! I couldn't picture anything better than that amazing place!
Perfect venue! The site is beautiful and covered in greenery, the staff was fantastic! Gale was an amazing wedding coordinator and made the day run so smoothly! We had the best wedding we could imagine! Highly recommend Avon Old Farms Hotel!!!!
We used Avon Old Farms Hotel for our wedding room block because our wedding was across the street. We could not have been happier with the service we received from Jennifer. She was attentive and eager to make our wedding weekend the picture perfect weekend. We also hosted a sunday breakfast following the wedding, which was perfect and professional. We used the transportation services from the hotel as well for our guests. From organizing the room block, to delivering welcome bags, Jennifer was helpful. Her knowledge about the hotel along with her people skills made her the perfect match for making our wedding weekend fun and stress free!! I forgot to mention how beautiful the hotel is. The girls got ready in the bridal suite and it was perfect! Hair, make up plus 11 women and photographers/videographers, we were completely comfortable in the hotel! Not to mention we enjoyed the hotel bar following our rehearsal dinner with guests. Great service all around.
Avon Old Farms Hotel was the perfect wedding venue for our wedding. We wanted an intimate wedding where guests could truly enjoy themselves from start to finish. We had approx 70 guests many of whom were coming from out of town. Having guests stay at the hotel for the ceremony and reception and overnight really allowed people to relax and just enjoy the weekend instead of rushing from various locations at specific times.
By booking with AOFH, we were able to keep the wedding details and planning manageable- from the room block to the menu to the tent rentals. Gail was my one and only contact and it really made all the difference in the world. She was available in person, on the phone, via email whenever I reached out from January 2016 when we booked to May 27,2017 when we got married. She was happy to coach us through the entire process.
We couldn't have asked for a more seamless Wedding Day. Gail and Leighton were able to anticipate everyone's needs and were available every step of the way. For example: We ended up going offsite for a few photos after the ceremony and Leighton put food with a fully stocked cooler and champagne in the bus for us, so that we wouldn't miss the cocktail hour. Something that my husband had thought he and his groomsmen would be having to worry about but it was all taken care of for us.
AOFH was everything we were looking for and completely delivered to give us the best Wedding day memories we could have asked for. We would highly recommend them to future couples.
From the reviews I first saw, to my tour of the venue, to just how charming Avon Old Farms Hotel felt when visiting, I always knew my wedding (5 days ago) would go flawlessly here. What I didn't know was how special it would be! Gail and Leighton do so much more than what is simply required or expected of their positions. It takes amazing people to do what they do.
I wanted a wedding that was both traditional and personalized, without doing the same old banquet hall cookie-cutter wedding. I had to visit very few venues, because I just knew AOFH was the one. It has the most elegant, old-world charm. Not to mention how well-known it is in the area and that EVERY person I mention the name to seemed to know and rave about the venue itself and how great the food is. The value is incredible and so much is included. My money would never have gone further at any other venue. Then the fact that you can get ready, have the ceremony & reception, and stay over makes for a very relaxing wedding day & night, and it will save you some very precious time on your wedding day. During planning, Gail was so fun to work with and always responded quickly. She was very quick to understand my needs, preferences, and family dynamics. And of course, she is just the wedding expert. I am very specific about what i like and she was so accommodating. Then, on the day of, you also have Leighton who is basically doing 20 different jobs and ensuring your day goes smoothly. Without him, I would have just been wandering around in happy fog and forgetting to do things like go bustle my dress up. They have the skill of people who have done these precious jobs for years and years, but the passion and dedication of someone who is new. I could go on & on about all of the little extras, how happy and helpful ALL the staff at the venue are, and how much our guests loved the food and the intimate wedding. Usually my expectations are unrealistically high for everything, but my wedding surpassed anything I could have dreamed of. My anxious groom ended up being totally relaxed and also had the time of his life. Gail and Leighton, thanks for putting up with me and giving me such joy to carry with me for the rest of my life. You are highly skilled professionals, and angels, and it is clear I'm not alone in feeling this way.
We worked with Jenifer Nelson reserving blocks of rooms for our daughter's wedding for June 2017. Jenifer kept us informed regularly about our block of rooms. She sent us updated lists of guests and added more rooms when needed. The staff was accommodating with our welcome bags and welcoming to our guests over the weekend.
Absolutely perfect day - Gail and Leighton did an AMAZING job making my daughters wedding a dream. Delicious food. Lovely setting. Triple five stars deserved.
Where to begin. Oh, I know, with Gail! She is AMAZING! We had our wedding at AOFH on 4/29/17 and it was positively perfect. On the wedding day, Gail and her team operated like a well oiled machine. There wasn't even an opportunity for anything to go wrong because they were on top of everything. Like seriously. Before I could even think of something, there they were with whatever it was. After noticing me trying to get some air under my dress, Leighton directed me to stand next to him, right above the a/c vent. That's the level of attention to detail the team at AOFH operates with. We were treated with that same kind of attention throughout our entire planning process (over a year). Gail took the time to meet with me and various family members when we would visit the venue, respond to all of those various family members phone calls and emails, as well as answer my very many questions as they came up. She has a way of making you feel like your wedding is the best and only wedding in the world. Gail really invests an interest in her couples. She remembers specific things, information, or stories you share with her and uses that to help craft the vision for your wedding. I honestly cannot say enough about the staff there and how amazing they were. Beyond that, the hotel itself is very lovely. We had a lot of out of town wedding guests so there were quite a few guests staying at the hotel for 1-3 nights. They raved about the hotel and location. Many commented on how comfortable the beds were and how they loved the whole decor and design of the hotel. Our photographer was very happy with the bridal suite. Lots of light, beautiful wallpapers, and a high wall hook to hang the wedding dress from. There was plenty of room for three hair/makeup people to setup stations and eight people to hang around drinking mimosas. If you're looking for a venue where you can have a beautiful outdoor or indoor ceremony where your guests easily walk to the cocktail hour, reception, and then back to their room, this is the place for you. Not only was it totally convenient for us and our guests, it was so darn pretty. Although I'm glad it didn't, I almost secretly wished that it had rained on our wedding day just so we could have the ceremony inside the glass room. Either way you go this is a beautiful spot for your special day.
My husband and I were married at AOFH just 5 days ago and we cannot say enough how wonderful and accommodating the venue and staff was throughout the entire planning and day of. Being that all of our guests were out of town, the venue was perfect to keep everyone in one spot and not have to worry about transportation. With all the accommodations included from the catering, cake, to centerpieces and linens, there was very little that we had to do on our own and still it was very beautiful and elegant. Meeting Gail for the first time we knew we were in good hands, but we had no idea how above and beyond the experience would be. They did an excellent job coordinating all the vendors and set up so we were able to enjoy our day stress free. All of our guests raved that the food, drinks, and service was impeccable and the ceremony beautiful and intimate despite terrible rainy weather. This was the best day of our lives and we will cherish the memory forever. Gail and Leighton, we cannot thank you enough.
My husband and I, as well as our families, cannot say enough about Avon Old Farms Hotel! Our wedding was absolutely wonderful thanks for Gail and her staff. The beginning stages of planning were simple and Gail was very accommodating and flexible. She answered all of my questions from start to finish. After our final detail meeting and last check in a few days before the wedding, I felt very calm and confident that everything would come together on the big day. The wedding went off without a hitch! Gail and her staff attained to every detail from early that day until the very end of the night. Our guests were amazed by the food, presentation and seamless execution of every piece of the evening.
We are so thrilled that we chose Avon Old Farms Hotel for our wedding, and would choose it again and again. Thank you to Gail and her staff for giving us a perfect day to cherish!!
We had our room blocks and rehearsal dinner here. We also had a room to get ready in the day of the wedding and used there shuttle service. The food was so good! The rooms were great and the bed was super comfy. There new van was very clean and they offered water bottles to guest during the ride to the venue and back. Highly recommended!
We had our wedding a few weeks ago at Avon Old Farms Hotel in Avon, CT. I couldn't be happier with the service from the wedding coordinator Gail and the staff. There were many details that I created and envisioned for the day. When you put in a years' worth of thought and planning, it's not easy to give up control and to put full trust in someone else to do things just my way. But when time comes to being a bride, there's no other way but to trust your coordinator and your bridal party. Lucky for me, I had the best support and the day went exactly the way I hoped (except for that it went by too fast!!) Gail and the AOFH staff executed my plan exactly the way I wanted and I am so pleased that we were able to create some amazing lasting memories for us, our families, and all of our guests.
The elegance and classic, timeless beauty of our wedding was an amazing gift from Avon Old Farms Hotel. We had a storybook wedding in the Atrium lobby as I descended the curved staircase and my groom met me halfway down. Sixty guests were comfortably seated in the lobby and the afternoon August sunshine was beautiful. We had the option to have the ceremony outdoors but I wanted a heat and humidity free wedding! The reception was lovely and having the glassed in room off the Towpath ballroom, and access to the outdoor patio was exactly what we wanted. Gail and Layton took such good care of us all night. And I was surprised to find a hot dinner, champagne, and wedding cake in our Bridal Suite at the end of the night. No request was too small or too large. Thank you AOFH for a magical wedding.

TLDR: Best venue ever.
Review: Ben and I were absolutely thrilled with Avon Old Farms Hotel - as were all of our guests. We often had people come up to us and tell us how impressive the staff at Avon Old Farms was and how much they enjoyed our wedding.
I cannot say enough about the staff at Avon Old Farms. Gail is an amazing woman and ensured that everything went, literally, perfectly.
People often asked me if I was nervous or completely stressed out when it was near to the wedding weekend and during wedding weekend. I was not.
The best examples I can give for why are these two:
1. I was sitting on the staircase just after the ceremony and Gail came over to me and sat down. She wanted to make sure everything was okay. It was; I was simply waiting where the photographer had directed me to go. But it occurred to me that we should probably move my flower arrangements in to the reception room. When I mentioned this to Gail, she smiled broadly and just said "it's already done." Of course it was.
2. At the end of the reception I was speaking to two of Gail's staff members and asked about putting the centerpieces away and about food for Ben and me. After each question, the response was the same: we've already done that. The centerpieces were taken care of and they had brought full entrees up to our room because they knew we likely had not had a chance to enjoy our meal.
I could recount story after story just like those two because the staff at Avon Old Farms is more than incredibly competent, they are the kindest and most thoughtful individuals.
Ben and I spent multiple nights at Avon Old Farms prior to our wedding, and we always felt like VIPs and/or like family. We cannot wait to go back and enjoy the wonderful people at Avon Old Farms and their hospitality.
In addition to the people, the grounds are wonderful and the food was delicious. They let us make our own meal to put on the menu (gnocchi carbonara - sounds odd, but was amazingly delicious).
I could detail so many stories about how Avon Old Farms goes above and beyond to make each couple (I assume) feel special from literally the first meeting - Ben and I live out of state and had a limited schedule to view the venue. The GM of Avon Old Farms met with Ben and me at 8:30 in the morning to show us around.
For each step of the wedding planning, Avon Old Farms makes you feel like the most important couple and sees to every detail with alacrity and professionalism.
I can not say enough great things about our wedding on 9/10/16 at AOFH. Our first contact with Gail let me know that we would be in good hands. She is extremely responsive to emails and will even let you know when she will be able to get back to you if not immediately. She is also open to many different ideas and will make sure they are executed the exact way you want them to be. The venue is gorgeous with many places to take pictures and are constantly making updates Everyone is still raving about how good the food was at our reception and how it didn't taste like "wedding food". They are a reasonably priced venue and do not keep adding on extra charges. We would definitely pick them again!
My husband and I had our wedding here and we are so happy looking back on that day! The entire staff was terrific and couldn't have been more accommodating. All of the small details with decorations were all perfect the way the staff set it up. The food was delicious and everyone that we spoke to had nothing but compliments for the chef and his staff. Gail was an absolute pleasure to work with and really made our day come together so perfectly. Gail and Leighton are a great team and we can't say enough good things about the both of them and how special they made our day. They made everything effortless on our part. We would highly recommend this venue for any celebration, you will not be disappointed! Thank you again Avon Old Farms Hotel! We can't wait to come back to visit!
We are so thrilled with this venue! Our wedding had a majority of out of town guests so we wanted a venue to keep everything in one spot, but in a classy and elegant setting. This was it, hands down! The guestrooms and ballroom are beautiful and true to New England style, and the grounds really make way to some stunning pictures. Guests raved about room service as well. Most importantly - Gail is absolutely amazing through the entire process. She is detail orientated, kind, and in the end feels like part of your family - my only complaint is that we had to part ways when the wedding was over! Gail handled a "crisis" (from ANOTHER vendor - completely beyond AOFH's control) wonderfully as well. Leighton was so sweet and always around to help on the day of the wedding. Having the bar open following the wedding was a big hit with guests as well, and the bartenders were incredibly accommodating. Food is delicious. Highly, highly, highly recommend.
The venue was amazing! The staff was great, Gail coordinated the wedding beautifully. The venue had a perfect onsite ceremony location, garden cocktail hour, and a classy sophisticated reception area for dinner and dancing. I could not have asked for a better venue!
My husband and I were married here just about a week ago, and we couldn't recommend this venue more highly! Unfortunately, after planning and hoping for an outdoor ceremony, we had to hold it inside due to inclement weather. Gail (the coordinator) was able to transform the foyer into a beautiful scene and maintain the outdoorsy feel we wanted.
We had quite a few friends and family stay overnight, and we were very excited about the ease with which everyone was able to book and check in. The hotel allowed our bridal party guests to check in early the day of the wedding, which we greatly appreciated!
We had brought bags and boxes of decorations and welcome bags and candles which Gail expertly used to decorate the ballroom, all while I was up in the bridal suite getting ready. I couldn't have been happier with the way she turned my vision into a reality.
Our waitstaff was absolutely lovely. All we have heard from our guests is how friendly and funny everyone was, including our wonderful bartenders. I have to give a special shout out to Leighton, who helped us throughout the night. He got the bridal party downstairs in time for the ceremony, ushered us out for photos after, and got us all back in and organized for the reception. He had a key to my room on hand at all times which was amazing because I couldn't keep track of a single thing all day.
The entire AOFH team takes the guess work out of the equation, and allows for the bride and groom to really enjoy the entire experience. This place has all the amenities you would expect from a big wedding venue, with the cozy New England charm.
We are still floating after having our wedding at the Avon Old Farms Hotel!! I wanted to have a "retreat-style" wedding where all of my friends and family would be able to come and relax for the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception, and AOFH was the PERFECT choice! I am a detail-oriented teacher, and Gail was so insanely awesome in helping me execute my Pinterest ideas to perfection - she even took our file with her while camping!! Then, on the day of our wedding, Leighton was there to make sure I was 100% comfortable, allayed every concern I had, and made me, my parents, and my bridesmaids feel completely calm and taken care of. The level of love, personal attention, and execution of detail we experienced was beyond our expectations! I'm forever grateful to Gail, Leighton and the entire AOFH staff. You created a day that we will always remember fondly!! If you have your wedding here, you will certainly not regret it!
Our wedding at Avon Old Farms Hotel was absolutely perfect. I am a notoriously type-A, hard to please person, but I have nothing but wonderful and amazing memories from our wedding day. Gail and her entire staff were so well-organized, dedicated, kind, and attentive to us and to our guests the entire day. The venue was perfect - our out-of-town guests enjoyed the bar and pool the morning of the wedding, and we also had a brunch the morning after. It was a wonderful get-a-way event for our families and it was truly everything I could have hoped for. So many guests stopped during the evening to tell us just how fantastic the venue and the food was. We were so pleased and so glad we made the decision to have our wedding there.
if I could give more stars I would! not only is it absolutely beautiful, but Gail and all the staff go above and beyond to exceed your expectations. everything about my entire wedding weekend was more than I could have imagined! my guests all commented on how beautiful it was; it truly was my fairly tale, picture perfect wedding day! can't thank everyone enough!
Avon Old Farms is amazing! Gail is amazingly organized, thorough, flexible and detailed. The entire staff there makes the entire process worry free! It is a beautiful venue, inside and out...and the accommodations are second to none! We were able to have many guests stay overnight and not worry about their travel. There is no better value...you get way more than your dollar is worth...believe me...I'm the mother of the bride! I can't tell you the number of compliments received for such a beautiful wedding....
I had my rehearsal dinner with 70 people at AOFH. Guests raved about the buffet food, the beautiful room and the service. Many guests said, "I LOVE this hotel".
Jenifer was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. She helped me execute a wonderful wedding weekend from the rehearsal dinner to the farewell breakfast and everything in between (gift bags, signage, etc.) I would definetly reccomend AOFH to another bride in the area looking for a true, CT experience. Thanks again!
We cannot have pictured a better place for our wedding -- it was just perfect! Gail and Leighton were so detailed the day of and everything went off without a hitch with everything going exactly how we had hoped! AOFH went above and beyond to make our day special too- we did signature cocktails, smore making on the patio, had an incredible dessert spread, and they helped to make a special champagne toast right at midnight happen too! (It was a NYE wedding to partying until midnight was a must!)
Our guests loved the hotel too and are still raving about how great of a wedding it was months later. Avon Old Farms was exactly what we were looking for and are so worth checking out!
I had a Winter Wedding this past January and Avon Old Farms provided the perfect venue. The breath taking three story lobby area with a spiral staircase provided a beautiful setting for photos. The gazebo and bridge outside were also great for some outdoor shots. The Hotel staff was fantastic for planning and Gail made many great suggestions. The food was out of this world and reasonably priced. As guests were leaving following the reception, many commented that the food was fantastic. I cannot say how pleased I was with the way things turned out. The bridal suite was large, beautifully furnished, and comfortable. I will recommend Avon Old Farms as a perfect spot for any size wedding.
Myself and my husband Ronan were married on March 6th, on a chilly day during one of the most intense winters in recent years. We had our reception at Avon Old Farms Hotel, and I must say that I was blown away by the helpfulness, kindness and professionalism of the entire staff in making the day as smooth as a sunny summer's day!
The magician behind it all was our wedding planner Gail, who took every single stressor out of not only the day itself, but the entire planning process. We were living in Australia, while trying to plan a wedding in Connecticut, and coordinate the travel of 60 people over from Ireland, and if it wasn't for Gail and her flexibility and years of experience, there could have been some serious headaches!
As a venue, AOFH's beauty and ability to personalise spaces was second to none. We ended up using the main ballroom as well as spilling over into the new glass house addition, which was gorgeously dressed in white bee lights strung across every beam. In addition, we were also given free reign over the tavern area, complete with a baby grand piano for our musically inclined guests to enjoy.
Our guests were raving about not only the beauty of the rooms, but also the small touches we were able to bring to the day that made the celebration personal. Nothing was off limits. We had s'mores roasting over the fire outside in the snow, AV equipment provided to show a video created by the groom's family and Irish whiskey and Vermont maple syrup table favours for guests, to represent each of our home countries, to name a few. If we could think it up, Gail and her team could make it happen!
We would enthusiastically recommend AOFH as your wedding reception location for delicious food, thoughtful service, versatile spaces and an overall incredible experience!
Long story short: we had an absolutely amazing wedding here (150 guests), whole-heartedly recommend Avon Old Farms Hotel, and especially, working with Gail.
We could not be any more pleased with how everything came together for our wedding at AOFH in October 2015. Gail was so invested in us and our wedding day that it was like having another member of the family in charge of the venue. Through our first few communications, she really listened to what we said and also had so much great advice for us. Quickly, we built a common trust that really made all of our planning steps easier. We eagerly visited multiple times to meet with her as our working relationship felt more like friendship. We will definitely stay in the hotel again when we need a place to stop on return visits to the area, and I look forward to keeping in touch with Gail even now after our amazing weekend has come to an end.
Gail had all parts of our wedding day humming along seamlessly. We wrote our own ceremony and had a friend perform it, so it was up to Gail and us to make sure we had everything down pat. Gail helped with our rehearsal the day before and was very good about taking charge when she needed to, but deferring to the bride, groom, and officiant when they were running the show. Once wedding day arrived Gail and Leighton worked in tandem, connected with their radios, coordinating where people were supposed to be and making sure we had anything we needed. Throughout the day we wanted for nothing, and had everybody in the right place at the right time.
The venue easily accommodated our 150 guests and we were comfortable throughout. We had people zipping from the photobooth (that we set up in the beautiful atrium lobby), into the Towpath ballroom (dance floor and seating), through the Terrace (more seating), outside under the tent (bar area and tables for guest book/in memoriam pictures, etc), and adjacent to the fire pits. Setting up the tent was an excellent choice that Gail suggested as it gave us more space to operate. It was unobtrusive and gave a continuity that allowed the indoors to blend with the outside areas.
AOFH is a beautiful slice of New England charm. We had our ceremony outside, facing the pergola, and lucked out with a crisp, sunny fall day. Surrounded by the beauty of nature, the well-manicured grounds were the perfect spot for us to get married. It almost feels too good to be true when you walk the brick pathway, on the little wooden bridges that run over a small bubbling stream. Everything was clean, bright, and well cared for, both outside and throughout the hotel.
Finally, one of the main reasons we chose AOFH was the food. We had heard good things from reading previous reviews and from friends who had been there and we were excited going into our tasting. We were not disappointed at all. The only challenge was figuring out which of the wonderful options to choose, especially from the list of hors d’oeuvres. We were able to provide the kitchen with a recipe for our vegetarian option, which was a very nice touch that even swayed some meateaters. On the night of our wedding, we enjoyed every course, which were properly timed to give us a chance to move around and still actually eat. Many of our guests remarked on how good their dinner was, even weeks later.
If you’ve stayed with me this far, you’ll know, I can’t recommend this venue enough. Thank you Gail!
We had an absolutely beautiful wedding day at Avon Old Farms Hotel. Gail and all of her staff made sure that every detail was perfect. All of our friends and family spent the weekend at the hotel and had an amazing time. The food is delicious, and the ballroom, atrium and grounds are all gorgeous. It was nothing short of perfection. Gail was fantastic to work with from the very start. She always responded to us promptly and made us feel like a special couple throughout the entire planning process. Anything we asked for she worked with us to accommodate. The staff at the hotel are equally fantastic. During our wedding planning we would occasionally stop by to eat at the restaurant or grab a drink at the bar, and the staff always remembered us and knew we had an upcoming wedding. The weekend of the wedding all of the staff went above and beyond to make sure that we and all of our guests were taken care of – not just during the wedding reception itself but literally from the second we arrived. We loved that AOFH only hosts one wedding at a time and the individual attention we received was priceless. Anything we asked for was delivered promptly and with a smile. We consider ourselves to have extremely high standards, and AOFH exceeded all of them. Our wedding ceremony was held in front of the gazebo. It was beautiful and flawless. During the wedding the staff continuously checked in with us (bride and groom), our parents, and our elderly guests to ensure that there was nothing that we needed and everything met our expectations. We truly cannot say enough about how wonderful our entire wedding experience was with AOFH.
We recently celebrated our wedding at Avon Old Farms Hotel. From beginning to end, we were so happy with our decision to go with AOFH. Gail was always one step ahead of us in coordinating everything and was a great support. While on a budget, AOFH was the perfect choice as so many aspects were included in our package. All the staff were so helpful and made us feel so special all weekend! During our reception, we were attended to for our every wish. Gail set up all of my decor prior to the the reception for me with such
