The positives: the food is incredible and the event staff (servers, bar tenders, our venue coordinator/event manager Barbara) were so wonderful and helpful. The day itself was great if we separate it from the lead-up.
The negatives: Beltane has an incredibly shady contract for intimate events. They raised our prices without notice, keeping our signatures on the edited document, which is an issue in and of itself. This would’ve been forgivable if it was handled professionally. When we finally got the head of events to get on a call with us (after much back and forth), she was so rude and dismissive we wanted to cancel our event. I can honestly say I’ve never been spoken to the way she spoke to us. They seem to have a lot of turnover (the event coordinator who replaced our first one has since left - so, two in the span of a year) which really did not help. There were so many questions we had that should’ve been standard client onboarding - price of kids meals, what the included table settings look like vs upcharge options, etc.).
I really have to give so much credit to the day-of team who made our day perfect, but I can’t recommend Beltane after our planning experience.
Oh my goodness! The staff and family are incredible! My elopement turned micro wedding dinner was amazing! Coordinating the cake, officiant and flowers was effortless. Our guests were simply enchanted by the Ranch and every detail! Those oysters and crab cakes were delicious! When the weather took a cold turn everything was efficiently moved to the bridal cottage for coffee and cake without hesitation. I didn’t have to think or worry about a thing…my champagne/wine glass was always full and everything was simply outstanding! Thank you Paula for coordinating every last detail, managing to finesse date changes because of covid and for providing exceptional service and professionalism! I couldn’t have asked for anything more than this absolute dream come true! We will be back for more events in the future…thank you doesn’t even come close!
Absolutely beautiful and private venue in Sonoma. So many places in the valley have ridiculous requirements.. Beltane lets you stay all weekend and have the whole inn for yourself and your guests. They allow you to bring in outside caterers and your own alcohol. Beyond that the staff is incredible, they are organized and prompt when it comes to planning your wedding and while you're there you feel so relaxed - truly able to enjoy your big day!
Beltane Ranch created a magical day for our wedding. The scenery and venue spaces could not have been better. Each part of the day flowed from one area of the space to the next seamlessly. When you reserve the venue for a wedding, you (and only your group) have access to the venue Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. This makes for a stress-free, intimate event. The ranch kitchen will provide food for smaller groups (rehearsal, bridal party getting ready, small weddings), which are deliciously cooked by Chef Greg. The cottage (where bridal parties typically get ready) is beautiful, but not that big, so just be aware if you have a larger bridal party - additionally, the A/C unit seemed to get a little overwhelmed with all the activity, but luckily we had a mild day. There were some challenges in planning, including some rules and requirements that seemed a bit over the top, however all worked out beautifully the day of and the staff were overall extremely pleasant. We are so glad to have chosen Beltane as our venue!
First of all, Beltane is gorgeous. The grounds are beautiful, inn is charming, and the staff at the inn were wonderful. I had my wedding during an insane heatwave a few weeks ago. There are a few things I wish Beltane handled differently.
The week leading up to the wedding, with the heat projected, Beltane did not do much to prepare for the heat. The inn is old and does not have A/C. With 113 degree heat, this became a big problem. All that was provided was a small fan blowing over a bowl of ice water. Needless to say, the rooms were quite unbearable. My poor family barely slept all weekend. I wish they would have done more. Either provide multiple large fans, portable A/C units, or even book rooms in a neighboring inn/hotel. The did not offer any refunds or discounts.
On the day of my wedding, the owner gave us permission to move the wedding back an hour to a 5pm start time. My coordinator and I were only in contact with the venue coordinators leading up the wedding. When we asked if we could do our tea ceremony at the end of the night (10:30pm) due to the insane heat they were adamant that this would not possible. Everyone had to be off the property by 11pm. Thus, we figured there was no way we would push the wedding back an hour. It wasn't until the owner got involved the day of our wedding where we were able to push the wedding back an hour. I wish we got permission a day or two before. This resulted in a lot of scrambling to notify all the guests hours before the wedding the start time had been moved.
We had our wedding and reception at Beltane Ranch in May 2017 and could not be happier! The weather was perfect, the setting gorgeous and the food was amazing.
We booked Beltane for Friday and Saturday nights and it was a great decision. Staying at Beltane with close family gave us the chance to spend quality time with them. Catching up over breakfast together and taking a walk to see the horses was the perfect opportunity for us to reconnect.
Chef Lauren prepared the food for our cocktail hour and reception - she was the perfect choice. The menu she helped us to put together was excellent. Everything was local (many ingredients from Beltane) and beautifully prepared - our guests are still raving about the food! Joy was my contact at Beltane, she was a breeze to work with and did her best to answer all of my questions quickly and thoroughly.
All of our guests had a wonderful time, the most common adjective we heard used to describe our wedding and the setting was "magical." A huge thank you to everyone at Beltane for making our Wedding weekend a joy for ourselves and for our guests!
Absolutely gorgeous venue for a wedding. My husband and I couldn't be happier with our decision to have our September wedding at Beltane.
Before booking I recommend researching Sonoma ordinances, which are very strict (including a rule that mandates "amplified music" to be turned off by 10PM) but that's standard for the area. The wine requirements at Beltane can add up (1 case / 20 guests) and they're strict with what they do/do not allow - including "preferred" (required) vendor list - but this is all stated pretty clearly in their contract.
If you are able to have you wedding on this beautiful property - do it! It makes for the perfect venue, with the cutest B&B and a gorgeous backdrop for your big day!
If you're looking to render your guests speechless with the beauty of a location, and provide a one in a lifetime experience for everyone, go with Beltane Ranch.
The best decision we could have made.
We had our wedding at Beltane Ranch. In fact, the way we found it was through the movie "Five Year Engagement." I honestly couldn't ask for anything better. I loved having my husband and I's family with us for the whole weekend onsite together, and the venue is so gorgeous you barely need any floral. Everyone that works there is very nice.
I was a guest at a wedding here a few years ago. The site was absolutely amazing as a guest. Perfectly beautiful with an incredible view of the valley, incredible oak trees, and a charming house. There was even convenient parking, yet it was far enough from the road to be tucked away.
The large oak trees and beautiful view of the grape vines....;They are not helpful on the day of the wedding. You will need to hire an event coordinator
