Big Fun Brass Band

BFBB was a hit at my daughter's wedding. The band arrived early & played the best tunes for 30 minutes. The manager, Abby, always answered the phone or emails promptly. I highly recommend them for your entertainment.

I hired Big Fun Brass Band for a 2ndline parade in the French Quarter to celebrate my brother's bachelor party this past weekend. It went perfectly--including surprising my brother--and they delivered a lively and engaging performance! I also found their planning process very user-friendly. I didn't know much about New Orleans or how 2ndline parades work. They were very responsive and flexible, and they walked me through the whole process. They handled the police permitting, as well. I strongly recommend Big Fun Brass Band!

The band was FANTASTIC. It was a dream to walk down the streets of the French Quarter with them. And the stilt walkers are key. Everyone in the French Quarter was taking photos of our wedding walking down the street, and we felt famous! Definitely recommend hiring this second line band. They are very professional and can even handle the permit process for you.

I cannot recommend Big Fun Brass Band enough! Ashley organized an amazing second line for my wedding, and it was the highlight of the day. Our guests were blown away. Everyone had so much fun. We used Big Fun Brass Band for our wedding Second line and they were INCREDIBLE!!! My wife is from New Orleans and I am from Texas, I have never seen or experienced a second line and Big Fun gave the experience of a lifetime. We worked with Abby from start to finish and she was great to work with. She handled all the permits, police escorts, and route for our 200 person second line!! They even showed up early before the second line began and played music for the guests as everyone prepared for the parade. All of my Texas guests LOVED the second line and said it is something they wish Texas did. Even all of the New Orleans people said the band was the best they've heard! Big Fun Brass Band was 10/10! I would book them for everything!

Big Fun Brass Band did our wedding on Nov 4, 2023. They absolutely blew our expectations out of the water. If you are looking for a band to do your wedding, or any other event for that matter, stop right here and book BFBB. That's it, there's no need to keep reading reviews or looking at other bands - you've found your best option right here. We went to our wedding ceremony, did the thing, then hopped on the bus to the reception venue. (Windsor Court Hotel in our case.) The band announced us and then went into our first dances. Then we went into the party, and it was incredible. They were LOUD and FUN and just everything we could possibly have wanted. They were incredible it reading the room and playing hit after hit after hit. They handled our on-the-fly requests with no issues whatsoever, and sight read a couple of oddball requests that we threw at them as if they had played them 100 times. I was absolutely cracking up when I asked them to play LSU fight song 'Neck,' and they (quite appropriately) told me 'yeah, we can do that but we have to hear this from your wife before we do.' When she ran up and said go for it, the room went absolutely electric. Everyone was out on the dance floor tearing it up, hands in the air, yelling along. They were fantastic. Probably my favorite thing was how they weren't just standing up there playing. They were dancing along and clearly just having a blast with it. They brought in all kinds of cool lighting and loud speakers for announcements and when they took their (well deserved) break. They weren't just a wedding band, they were part of the party in all aspects. Everyone was expecting three or four people playing music in the corner of the room, and when they walked in to ten musicians with brass instruments, keyboards, and a drumset, everyone was floored. They filled the entire venue with fantastic music, handled announcements very well, and were just so pleasant and professional to interact with the entire time. As we hit the end of the reception, everyone just wanted more. The band announced that it was time to go downstairs to the ground floor, and our coordinators and event staff helped usher everyone out. They played our last dance over the speakers for us as they quickly cleaned up and headed downstairs, and we met them down there to kick off the second line parade that they also hosted for us. The second line was phenomenal. They handled everything from route planning, to permitting, dealing with NOPD, taking care of payments, coordinating with hotel staff. All we had to do was walk downstairs and lead the band to Lucy's. Standing in the middle of the intersection of Tchoup and Poydras with red and blue lights flashing all around us, listening to something like eight brass instruments play was magical. When we arrived outside of Lucys, the band hung out for a bit and played in the street as we got everyone into the bar. All the people on the balcony were dancing and singing along as our wedding group made their way in. It was an incredible experience. BFBB’s familiarity with local culture and understanding of how to handle everything and work with our reception venue, coordinator, NOPD, were invaluable and definitely noticeable. They exceeded our expectations in every possible way and most certainly proved their name over and over throughout the night. Hired Big Fun Brass Band for a memorial at Metairie. I was 2000 miles away so I really needed a manager to handle all the details. Abby was great, always answered emails quickly, kept me informed, ensured the band was on time and knew what was expected of them. The band was great and the music was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The band, and the additional entertainment --stilt walker and juggler-- showed up a few minutes before their scheduled appearance and when it was their time to perform, they didn't disappoint. We partnered with Big Fun Brass Band to perform during a second-line parade after our wedding ceremony. From our initial outreach until the event was over, Abby was super organized and always available to help and answer questions. If you think Big Fun is just a second line band, you are missing out. Don't get me wrong, they can second you all over this city. But we also hired Big Fun for our reception band and they killed it!! Amazing song list and incredible performers. Our out of town guests were just blown away! For most of the wedding, the dance floor was packed. Abby and Corey run the band and were so easy to work with. We loved Big Fun!

These guys were amazing. They finished our daughter’s wedding reception with a 2nd line from the Chicory, down Fulton Street to the lighted gazebo, and played a few songs there as the guests danced and partied at the gazebo. Our guests were mesmerized and used the words “EPIC” and “Over the Top” to describe them. The Grand Marshal was the perfect added touch because he elevated the entire parade and party up a few notches. They were so much fun and closed out the night with a bang.

For our wedding, they played a brass quartet for the ceremony, led us out to the second line, and then all seven band members played for the reception. Big Fun Brass Band was my favorite part of my wedding day! I hired them to coordinate and play for our second line in the French Quarter, and it was incredible. The majority of my guests had never heard of a second line, and they were blown away by the music and experience. The absolute best brass band! We were connected with Big Fun Brass band through our reception band, Nola Dukes, and I would hire them again. We worked with both Corey and Abby, who were super responsive, and hired their Signature Package for our wedding of 140 people which included an 8-piece band with the 2nd trumpet and 2nd trombone and a Grand Marshall. They worked with NOLA police to get all of the permits/paperwork/escorts approved in time. Even with delays in permit approvals due to COVID we always felt taken care of. Our guests have not stopped raving about the Second Line (we are from Chicago so most hadn't even heard of a Second Line before) and the Grand Marshall and musicians made it the best part of our wedding day!

So much fun! Despite our long (3/4 mile) second line, they had the whole parade engaged throughout. They played my favorite song “Cassanova” and many other fun hits. They took care of the permits so that we didn’t have to spend a second worrying about them. Lots of our guests, especially those from out of town, told us how this was one of the highlights of the night for them.

One of our favorite parts of our wedding was Big Fun Brass Band! Everyone loved them!!! From our ceremony music to our secondline to our reception, they made our day. Not only were they extremely talented musicians, but they also did such a great job of choosing the perfect song to keep everyone on the dance floor. Once the dancing started, the dance floor was PACKED for our entire reception! They were so engaging and we all had so much fun at our reception!! We had a blast having the Big Fun Brass Band at both our wedding second line and accompanying the horse procession (Baraat) during the Indian wedding we hosted. They are responsive, fun, helpful, and great musicians. Both events went off perfectly thanks to the Big Fun Brass Band. We cannot recommend this band more highly for any and all of your events.

Hire BFBB! They are such a fun band to work with. Corey and Abby were so open, friendly, and quick to respond. I truly loved working with them. They did an amazing job at accommodating all of our requests, and our guests have not stopped talking about how much fun they had. If you're able to afford it, I definitely recommend doing the Second line; it was an unforgettable experience. Everyone was so nice and friendly; we actually ran into our drummer at one of the local bars he was playing at a few nights later, and he took the time to come down and say hi to us. Love them!

My wife and I hired Big Fun to lead me and my 200 wedding reception guests through the French Quarter on a hot August night. This was the best part of my reception, and halfway through my reception, I actually thought "life can't get much better than this". Second lines can make even the best thing better. We were sweating, but we didn't care at all! The music was awesome/didn't stop, and we felt like celebrities taking over the city. Abby and Big Fun were very professional and VERY easy to work with. Abby and I chatted on the phone a few times to make sure that my wife and I felt 100% comfortable with the plan, route, etc. and that we were ready for whatever government COVID restrictions might come our way. In addition to playing, we paid them to sort out all the city permits required. For me, that was money well spent because they deal for the permitting office all the time, and I have enough trouble as it is paying my water bill. From a local, Big Fun's awesome. You and your guest will never forget the second line and will talk about it for a very very long time.

First off, communication with them (particularly Abby) before the event was great-- very responsive via email, and very helpful and transparent with costs and permits. It was really helpful to have them fill out the 2nd line permit, especially if you are from out of town. They work with you and the city to come up with a great parade route. The day of the event, they arrived on time, and were willing to work with us around the timing of our ceremony. They were a hit, everyone loved their energy. They kept the party going for an hour straight!! Very impressive, everyone was blown away by the 2nd line. I definitely recommend Big Fun Brass Band to take your event to the next level!

Firstly, the band was excellent. Our wedding and the whole French Quarter were dancing up a storm to the band. They were also super easy to work with. They took care of all the planning and were flexible with their schedule. Being from out of town, it was great to have such a reliable band.

I should lead with that everyone absolutely loved the brass band feature. They were on time and they were definitely entertaining! I was disappointed that Corey did not schedule a meet up sooner then 2 days before our wedding--I would have been able to know that we can't provide last minute requests. So when we did meet with him and I asked if he could play a song for my wedding, he straight up said "No. That's not possible." Saying that to a nervous-wreck-bride, was not ok. I literally starting balling and had to give the phone to my fiance. I wish he could have offered some other possibilities. We had also asked for a playlist and he just grazed over that request. We had no idea what we were going into. I will say, he did take some responsibility and admitted that he should have kept better communication lines open and that was nice to hear. If you want a specific song, be sure to mention it right away.

I found the Big Fun Brass Band because they played at the saints funeral in my neighborhood and i really enjoyed their performance, so i searched high and low to find out who they were and then worked with them to perform at my wedding! They responded promptly, did all the paper work and planned the route and set up the police escort. They were on time and looked professional, they played the recessional, paraded and played until 6 o clock. They were amazing and everyone enjoyed their performance!

Awesome Awesome and more Awesome. Jimmy Brinkman is super friendly and responsive. He made scheduling very easy. The band really got into it at the wedding and pumped the crowd up at all the right times. We got lots of compliments on them from our wedding guests! Highly recommend Big Fun if you want Big Fun!
