Due to some unforeseen circumstances, my original plan for my wedding dress did not work out. I was in North Carolina and thankfully Camille’s was able to accommodate my appointment with relatively short notice. I had tried on dresses once before and was fairly certain I knew the style I wanted for the day. I worked with Randi as the consultant. She was great! She was incredibly compassionate and helped me to enjoy the day in light of the circumstances. I tried on around 10 dresses (all mostly very similar styles) and was between two in the end. Randi was very patient as I made my decision. The dress I found fit perfectly with my vision for the day. I bought off the rack (which had a 10% discount) and Randi was able to ensure it was ready to go before I had to fly home. Thank you, Camille’s and Randi, for helping me find my dress!
Camille’s was perfect! I did not buy my dress at Camille’s, but I was coming in from out of town and desperately needed somewhere for my dress to be steamed for my wedding day. Camille’s saved the day and got my dress in perfect condition!!
Prior to coming in, unfortunately my dress had a scuff right in the center of the bust and I was incredibly upset. They listened to my concerns and they were able to fix it!! They put my dress into a better dress bag and bust form and had it back to me in one day.
Highly recommend for anyone needing their dress professionally steamed/pressed for their destination wedding.
Anyone that knows me personally knows I am laid back and treat everyone the way I would like to be treated. Also knows I NEVER leave bad reviews and I usually let things go. I am not the one to look for trouble. I try to see both sides of every point/story. And there is always two sides to every story. However today was nothing short of an absolute slap in the face and nightmare. What a terrible experience? And too what a sad thing it is for a first time young, excited, innocent bride to experience?! Today was my “pick up” day for my dress. Got in, everything was great. Until it would not zip up. Trusting and knowing and acknowledging that this was SUPPOSED to be the correct size. (Backstory) I came in the very first time and tried a 14 back in late October. WAY TOO SMALL! Okay? That’s fine. So we put in the order for the dress to be 2 sizes bigger for me. Which is an 18. Today for pick up day it was a 16. Of course it wouldn’t fit because it was not the correct size! It may be that there was some type of miscommunication? I am not sure. It was brought to my attention that it was due to my weight gain. Mind you this is within one month or so. In one month I supposedly gained enough weight for my dress to not zip. Yes, maybe, perhaps? That may be true, it may not be! Because I have literally not done anything different. But it still does not mean that the dress came in the right size to begin with… in the first place. Mrs. Tracy I believe the manager, asked my mother (who was standing up for me), “Do you think I am lying?” (When she remeasured me.) she kept asking me “But you like it, don’t you Lauren?” And putting me on the spot. Like I was the peacemaker. Of course I love the dress but it is too small! Keep in mind, I was wearing a thicker sweater because it’s December and freezing outside! I did notice also that the measure tape results today would probably be thrown off by my bulky sweater! Something to consider if someone has been in this type of business for so long? Would they not know this affects the true results? Of course the measurements will show differently. No apologies, no refunds OF COURSE, and no attempts to fix THEIR mistake for ordering the wrong size. So I am stuck with a $3,000 dress that does not fit. The only suggestion given was “taking some material out” or “sewing in a corset” which is something that I made clear I did not want in the beginning. Because of the overall look the dress would have. I am so sorry for the bad experience. However this was not professional, and certainly could have been prevented. If it had not been so forced in the beginning perhaps just for sales, commissions and profit, this may have been different. I am so disappointed. Absolutely ruined my wedding dress experience. And sadly will never have the chance to re do that back. Soon to be brides be cautious and very careful. If a company or business is not willing to own up to their own screw ups, and blame it so easily and quickly to weight gain versus ordering wrong dress sizes, maybe Camille’s is not for you. Why is it such a huge deal to return and receive the correct size? Especially it costing that price?! Praying that I will lose some pounds before my big day. I already have enough stress, and this is certainly going to contribute to it. Worrying myself to death that I’ll be able to walk down the aisle in this dress and marry my high school sweetheart, the love of my life. Money doesn’t grow on trees, and especially now with prices going up this was just a gut wrenching and heart breaking experience. So very sorry.
My dress journey at Camille’s of Wilmington started out rocky to say the least. By the time I came to their store to try on a particular dress I had been to four other salons and tried on probably around 100 dresses and that’s not an exaggeration. I’m a non-traditional bride and part of the issue was I was trying to please everyone around me. When I finally decided to stop listening to the white noise and just get a dress that was so simply just me, I had fallen in love with a dress I’d found online (Zander Lane by Sottero and Midgley.)
I had called a few other NC salons and a Camille’s was the only one who had the dress in store at the time and in black like I wanted. Or so I was told. I had to move mountains to make it out there. I live 2 hours away and I was on call that day so I had to jump through hoops to get someone to cover for a few hours for me so I could come down while my mom was in town. When I got there the consultant I was assigned to (she thankfully doesn’t work there anymore. She was so rude,) told me that they had ordered the dress but it wasn’t at the store yet. I was crushed and was crying. The consultant got an attitude with me like I was a bother to her when I wouldn’t have even come in if they had told me they didn’t have it yet.
That’s when the Manager, Tracey, stepped in. She really saved the appointment and talked me into trying on a black Christina Wu dress. I had never seen this dress. The designer didn’t even have it on their website. I’m so glad she convinced me to try it on. I was so ready to just leave but once it was on I fell in love with it sort of. It was missing sleeves which is one thing I really loved about the Zander Lane dress.
Enter Angela. She told me it would be easy for her to make bell sleeves for the dress. That sold me. Tracey and Angela really saved the appointment that day and helped me find the dress of my dreams. After my alterations were done it looked like a completely different dress. Angela did such an amazing job. I felt so stunning on my wedding day in the dress. She is so good at what she does and really helped me realize my unique vision. I definitely recommend shopping here, because even if a mistake is made they will go out of their way to make sure you leave there happy.
I loved shopping at Camille’s! They had such a wide range of dresses! Katie made the process easy and answered all my questions. She didn’t pressure me into any certain dress and didn’t even pressure me to buy a dress! She truly wanted me to be happy with my dress! I ended getting an overskirt at a different place to go with my dress only because they didn’t have any, but I was very happy with the experience. 📷 Collette van Hooft photography
Camilles was an amazing dress vendor. I went with my sister and mom in July on a “big sale” week and picked my dress that day. It was the third one I tried on. Our consultant was very kind and let us walk around the shop to pick out designs we liked as well as chose some she recommended based on my vision. I never felt pressured or rushed. The store had a lot of options, but not too many where I felt overwhelmed. I was able to stay under my $1500 budget as well which was a huge win! Definitely recommend.
Love the dress I got and the consultant that helped me find it. However, after your dress comes in, there their care and helpfulness goes out.
To pick up my dress (must be during the week) I had to make an appointment, no big deal, I get it. They explained that way they could have someone there to help me.
I get there to get my dress and I wait 15ish mins before some speaks to me. Multiple employees saw me. Eventually they ask why I’m there and go find my dress and put it in a room and say she will get me a protective bag for it and that was it. Didn’t see her again. I tried my dress on, struggled to get it zipped myself and I could have cried. It was wayyyy too big. I can gather maybe 2-3 inches per side. I’m trying to see how it will look by holding it myself out in-front of the mirror, while it’s falling off me. Multiple employees saw me struggling and didn’t help. Finally someone helps for maybe 2 seconds because she is more focused on talking to someone else about a photo shoot. All she says is wow it’s really big. I said yeah I told them when they were ordering it this wasn’t gonna be a good size and I explained due to my health and medicine I would be losing more weight. But because they were the professionals I listened. Which I should have just went with the size I had said, which is on me. But they made it seem like that was the worst choice ever. The only other thing she said to me was well we can alter it down up to 3 sizes. So that isn’t gonna help me because its hugeee. I would have rather had a dress that fits and need minimal alterations because at this point it’s gonna be a remake of the dress. I get changed back into my clothes, bring everything up to the counter and I’m waiting again for 10-15mins for someone to acknowledge me. Finally, someone comes up to help another customer and says “Oh yeah, sorry were you waiting?” “Let me try to find someone, we are short staffed because no one wants to work anymore.” At this point all I can say is “Since I was required to make an appointment, I just figured I’d actually get help.”
So moral of the story they want you to spend your money there (spent over $2,500) then they really don’t care. I would have loved to get alterations done at the same place I got the dress because they would know it. And get the bridal party dresses and MOB stuff there however, after I came back in for the pick up and saw how they cared for their customers after your initial money, neverrrr.
I loved the dress I picked but it isn’t going to be the same dress and is going to lose so much detail (everything I loved about it) once it’s altered down to fit me. Beyond disappointed in the customer service. I got in the car and cried because standing there in the store with my dress legitimately falling off me while struggling to hold it up and look at it, while they are just watched. Feeling ugly/judged in your wedding dress isn’t it.
I couldn’t be more disappointed in where I chose to get my dress. I really regret not going somewhere else to buy. Another store close to Wilmington carried the same designer and I should have gone there. Now I’m dreading wearing my wedding dress that isn’t going to be close to what I thought.
They helped me find the dress and veil of my dreams! Also, they have something for everyone, no matter the style, size, or price point. I also got my dress altered there and they completed it perfectly. I recommend Camille's to all brides!
My maid of honor and I take a yearly beach trip in June to Wilmington. When we went in June 2021, I decided to make an appointment to try on dresses as I had zero idea what type of dress I would even want. I went fully intending to just try on dresses and not buy one yet. While there, I found the dress of my dreams. The dress was one the stylist picked for me to try on and I immediately knew it was the one. Every staff member at Camille's was super supportive and helped me every step of the way from picking my dress, alterations, and sewing a piece of one of my late father's shirts into the underside of my dress. I would highly recommend Camille's of Wilmington!
Joanne and Angela are the phenomenal owners of Camille's of Wilmington. I live in Charlotte, NC and would personally drive 3 hours to Wilmington and 3 hours back to Charlotte because there is not any other wedding dress shop that compares. I wore my dream dress; a Maggie Sottero Mallory Dawn. It was the elegant and timeless princess dress of my dreams! The whole staff at Camille's of Wilmington are beautiful inside and out. They truly are the best team to have in your corner as a bride. They ensure great communication and work extremely hard to provide the best service throughout the entire process. The alterations team were the best as well! My dress fit me like a glove which made me feel so confident for the big day! If you are looking for THE dress, there is no other choice other than Camille's of Wilmington! They have one of the strongest selections of bridal gowns, evening gowns, and they continue to build and grow their menswear selection. The team is well known and exceptionally popular in Wilmington, NC because of their prominent presence at numerous fashion shows as well, so they get in the newest pieces as soon as they are released. I cannot thank you all enough! I love you all with all of my heart for taking care of me and incorporating me into the family as a Camille's Bride! You all are the best!
This bridal shop was amazing! I had went to a couple other shops and none were as friendly or offered the type of unique variety I was looking for. I found a dress I like the first day I went, but didn’t order, I ended up going back two days later because I was in love with it. Randi was the consultant that worked with me both days and did an amazing job finding the perfect dress for me!
Finding a dress was a breeze so I decided to use them for alterations as well. The first appointment I made was fine but when I made the second appointment it was booked incorrectly and my dress had not even been started. I made another appointment to pick up my altered dress and while much of the dress was done parts of the dress were never re-attached after alterations. At the appointment they offered to put those pieces back on but it really should have been done before I arrived. I would purchase a dress from them again but would absolutely go elsewhere for alterations.
I tried several other dress shops before making an appointment at Camille's. These experiences were stressful and I was left feeling like my budget was inadequate. My experience at Camille's was a total 180 from those other places. Melissa was my consultant, and she was so patient with my indecisiveness and was mindful of my budget when choosing dresses for me to try on. I also got bridesmaids dresses from Camille's (10% off since I bought my wedding dress there), and again, Melissa was so patient and helpful with my 7 bridesmaids and their different dresses. I also bought my shoes, veil, and headpiece from Camille's. Unfortunately, I don't recall the name of the consultant who helped me that day. However, I was so conflicted about a veil and didn't want any of the flashy ones they had on display, but she was able to pull some different ones from the back that were more my style. I really appreciated her taking the time to help me find the perfect one. I cannot recommend Camille's enough. All of the staff were so genuine and worked so hard to help me and my bridesmaids find our perfect look for my wedding day.
Had a great experience at Camille’s! My bridal consultant Abigail was superb- I told her what I had in mind while she watched me pick out a few dresses, and as she ferried them to the dressing room she asked me questions about the venue, theme, formality, and my colors. I didn’t need much help putting the dresses on, so while I was changing into my first pick she asked if she could pick out a dress she thought would look flattering on me. I’m not well-versed in wedding attire and told her to pick out a few she thought would help me to look elegant - but she didn’t need to. My first pick was everything I said I wanted and was TOTALLY wrong, but the next dress, Abigail’s first pick, was IT. I now know what bride’s mean what they say “I don’t want to take it off”. I wanted to wear it out of the store!! I have never felt more beautiful. I did try on a few more of her selections in an effort to be unbiased but you truly do know THE DRESS when you have it on. Thank you, Abigail and Camille’s, for treating me like family (she even came to my wedding to see me in her fabulous pick)! Couldn’t have had a better experience.
Didn't end up getting my dress here but I had to give a shout out - they were so friendly and patient!! A fantastic place to start, they have a very wide range of dresses.
Camille's of Wilmington is amazing!! When I walked into Camille's I immediately felt welcomed!! I saw a dress a mannequin and knew that was my dress. Melissa was so great to me that day. She picked out great dresses for me to try on. Melissa went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience. I ended up picked the first dress that I has saw when I walked in. It was incredible. I was very anxious about the price because I have to stay within budget. The dress was only $800. When the dress came in and I went to my first fitting, the dress fit perfectly, all I need was it to be hemmed. Lorraine did a great job hemming it and doing my custom bustle. I knew what I did not want for a bustle, Lorraine worked with me to create a bustle that met my needs. Love Camille's of Wilmington and the wonderful ladies who work there. I special thank you to Melissa and Lorraine!!
I had he absolute best service at Camille’s. I’m from Maryland and they would come into the shop early on Sunday mornings to help me with fittings so that I could get back on to the road and drive home. My dress was so perfect and I danced the night away in it. I’m so thankful for my experience at Camille’s!! I can’t say enough about how amazing it was.
We’ve used them for the past 2 years for prom and have never been disappointed....
Many varieties on choices for tuxedos and have always been able to match my sons dates dress color. (Our last color was watermelon). Thank you Camille’s!
My fiance is in the military stationed at Fort Bragg. I drove to Camille's twice since they had the best selection of dresses! They also worked with me over the phone. My family could not be with me but they went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and even facetimed with my family and helped explain and show each dress! I said yes to my dress here! Camille's is the BEST place to get your dress!
Amazing shop! Amazing seamstresses! These women got out of there way to take care of you. I had been eyeing my wedding dress (Maggie Sottero Emma) for a while but it wasn't carried in the store. The staff was able to get it in just for me! When it came time to do alterations, I was so amazed by the attention to detail and skill used. There was no way to tell the dress had ever been altered despite the lace overlay! Not to mention the bustle on the dress was stunning!
So my mother,Her fiance, and myself came in today to try on dresses for their wedding in March. HOWEVER the entire time we were in there the ladies working ignored us to focus on the younger brides to be. My mother had to help herself to the dressing rooms all while the other brides were being helped. Absolutely terrible service. You would think we would of gotten help since being older means more money to spend but guess not. This place has HORRIBLE service. We definitely will not be returning.
Camille's was the third bridal store I visited in Wilmington with one of my bridesmaids. I showed up early for my appointment (which gave me time to browse), and the ladies allowed me to pick my first few dresses. I worked with Joanne who was very attentive to me. She respected by budget and my style preferences. Having a scheduled appointment was great, and I always had one or two consultants helping me. The last dress I tried on did me in. You know it's the ONE when you never want to take it off! The seamstress came out and gave me an alterations estimate. I'm VERY budget conscious, and at the end, Joanne added up the dress amount, sales tax, and alterations quote. She really went the extra mile to make me feel comfortable. She explained my next steps very thoroughly, and she didn't pressure me to buy anything on the spot. I'm very pleased with Camille's and will be back to purchase my gown shortly!
Camille's was the 5th or 6th salon I visited (including TWO trips to David's). I had tried on well over 50 dresses however I just hadn't found "the one" nor had I been blown away by any of my experiences in the other shops. I am a bigger bride which can be difficult anyway and a lot of the other small salons in town made it clear that it would be difficult for me. However Camille's instantly made me feel comfortable and assured me that they would be able to make my dress dreams come true. At no point did I feel rushed and I appreciated that there was input from all of the employees in the shop, including the seamstress who was even recommended by an employee at David's. I would recommend any bride visit Camille's! I couldn't be more pleased with my dress decision and look forward to wearing it on the big day!
All the ladies were very nice and extremely helpful. Kaitlyn helped me find three dresses I loved and I found THE ONE!! My husband and boys also received the same wonderful hospitality when renting tuxes. Thank you Camille's of Wilmington and Kaitlyn!!!
I seriously loved my experience at Camille's! I avoided chain bridal salons because I knew I would not feel special and that I would just be a number to them. I felt so special and all of the girls at Camille's were so attentive and kind. They were concerned if I was satisfied and made sure they provided me with top quality service. I would definitely recommend this shop!
