Canopy Jersey City Arts District

My husband and I used the Canopy by Hilton in Jersey City for our wedding hotel room block because it’s a gorgeous hotel, had the biggest rooms, and had the most amount of rooms we could put into our block without payment. They provided a detail sheet closer to the weekend for me to fill out which included things like when we’d be checking-in, the names of our family members, # of welcome bags to hand out, etc. which was great. But then the weekend came and there were several communication issues. I had requested that my suite be on the same floor as my Mom since we planned to use both rooms for getting ready. Long story short, the morning of, my assigned suite on the same floor as my Mom went out of service and no one told me when I showed up at 1pm to check-in and see some of my guests. When my room became ready around 3pm, I was shocked to see that it had changed to a different floor. I asked if they could move my Mom, but they said they didn’t know about the request and there were no rooms available. They fixed the original room while I was at Rehearsal, but when I came back the evening receptionist had no idea about a new room. So, there was no communication between the shifts of reception, and just caused a lot of unnecessary stress for me, my husband, and my mother. The room was comp’d and switched in the end. Secondly, I had also checked weeks in advance that the hotel bar would be open, so that my out-of-town guests could join us for a drink. I even confirmed it again the week-of, and again on the detail sheet that it would be about 40 people. They only staffed one bartender who proceeded to tell my guests that last call was at 9:30pm, even though they're open until 11pm. I understand that the bartender was overwhelmed with the amount of people, but the lack of communication was not the fault of my guests, who were rudely spoken to and denied drinks that they wanted to pay for. It’s a shame because the hotel is gorgeous, the rooms are spacious, and it’s an A+ location near Grove St. in Jersey City.

I had my dream wedding here! Where do I even start… My fiancé (now husband) and I wanted a hotel venue for our wedding – one that was modern, sophisticated, beautiful, and clean. The moment we walked in the Canopy we knew this was the right place. On top of that, we loved the food menu for the reception. The planning process was very smooth. We worked with Karina and Martin to go over the details of the reception – from the food, to schedule, hotel rooms, etc. They were such a pleasure to work with from the start to the execution of the event. Everything on the day of the wedding went seamlessly. The space was gorgeous, great drinks, and the food was absolutely delicious. Our guests still talk about the food and how it’s the best food they had at a wedding. Last, but certainly not least, the staff at the Canopy were so nice, friendly, and helpful. Our guests really appreciated how nice the whole staff was! I am so thankful and happy to have had my wedding here. I’d like to thank the team at Canopy for making our wedding day go so smoothly and beautifully!

I had a contract with Lokal Eatery by the waterfront in Jersey City, but they had issues and literally canceled on me 3 weeks before my surprise proposal. I was stressing out. Luckily, I came across Canopy JC and connected with Karina Egidio, who was the event coordinator at Canopy JC. She was amazing! She displayed a high level of professionalism and overall had a genuinely optimistic, comforting personality that allowed me to feel relaxed and blessed to have found her. She explained what can be offered at Canopy JC and even accommodated my many requests such as timing, headcount, bar packages, etc. She was even present on the night of the event to help prepare and guide my family and friends that were waiting for me and my fiance to arrive! I wish I found her sooner because then I would've been able to tell any guy that finding a venue and planning a surprise proposal is the easiest thing to plan for in the world.
