Everything was amazing at the country barn! Food was excellent honestly was the most talked about thing aside for the venues rustic beauty! Planned on being outside but it poured and they were awesome at setting the inside up and it was beautiful I honestly wouldn’t have had it any other way! Wouldn’t have changed a thing!
Farmer Jim is one of the main reasons we booked with this venue! In addition to his friendly face and very lovely staff, we also loved the history and story of this barn. It was built in 1867 (if I remember correctly) right after the Civil War, and is the only yellow barn in Lancaster County. Initially, we fell in love with the venue's rustic style. But after a meeting, we really fell in love with the entire atmosphere, the staff, and the in-house catering. Farmer Jim was very accommodating of our families needs and wants. Couldn't have ask for a prettier or more accomodating venue :)
Look the venue was absolutely beautiful inside the outside looks like the Beverly hillbillies the food was excellent but for the price they should help you with your wishes and keep there opinions to there self and for the rooms to stay in should be checked before wedding party gets there the changing area for the groomsman there was a hole in the floor that my son fell in before his wedding and during set up they wanted to not put the wedding cake on display also the room my son and his new bride stayed in or supposed to stay in had rust in the tub the water out of faucets was brown a dead bird in the hallway an wreaked of cat pee how is that for your wedding night they moved there stuff into room and because of the up to par service inside this room had to find another motel room at midnight at the cost of 150.00 for 20,000 plus I absolutely would not recommend four your day wait for a day to open up at another location.. maybe they should return some money to the newlyweds that had there night ruined or pay for the room they had to rent
The Manor View barn (one of three venues on site) provides a fantastic setting for your wedding dreams!
Farmer Jim & Katie were extremely helpful in planning our big day - twice! We had originally planned on a May wedding but 2020 had different plans. Throughout the entire re-planning process Farmer Jim & Katie were there to help ensure our guests had a fun and safe time.
Farmer Jim has a wealth of knowledge about how to maximize your wedding day experience - lean on his experience. The food was great, the service was timely and friendly, and the entire staff ensured appropriate health protocols were maintained.
I cannot recommend Country Barn and Farmer Jim more highly!
I cant say enough great things about this place! First farmer Jim is amazing! He gave such great ideas and the night flowed with out any problems! Second Katie is amazing as well! She answered every single one of
My questions in a timely and friendly manner! Third the food is just to die for! We had meatless lasagna and pulled pork and it was AMAZING! Farmer Jim even helped our 2 yr old get to the aisle so he could start walking! We were in the stable and it was absolutely beautiful!
This place is AMAZING. I was able to have my dream wedding. Farmer Jim, Katie, Lonnie, her sister and everyone else were so helpful and had great ideas. I had my wedding in the Loft and it is BEAUTIFUL. I would highly recommend this venue for any event!
The Country Barn has become a destination that will always be close to my heart- I will never forget this experience or this place, it is truly magic. My husband and I were married at Country Barn on 6/8/2019 and HIGHLY recommend this venue- it is beautiful, elegant, and rustic- everything you could want for a wedding. But my favorite word to use to describe Country Barn is authentic. I love that this is a REAL working farm that ALSO and EQUALLY knocks it out of the park when it comes to weddings. That same genuineness can be found in the owner, Farmer Jim, who was an absolute pleasure to work with. His suggestions and advice allowed us to have the perfect wedding day- and I want to say THANK YOU for being there just as I was about to walk down the aisle to make sure I didn't get tangled up in my train :). My friends and family were blown away by the venue, food, lovely staff, and overall experience- we had so much fun and I couldn't ask for more.
The staff was fantastic and venue is absolutely beautiful!
Farmer Jim was so helpful and gave great ideas. I would recommend to anyone!
This venue made my wedding day a dream. The owner and all the workers are so easy to work with and went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I were happy on that day. They are the best value in Lancaster, including so much in all their packages. The venue is huge, beautiful, and an authentic running farm. The owner took my husband and I out to the sunflower field on our special day and we got amazing photos in the middle of a sunflower field in full bloom. I received so many compliments on the authentic farm-to-fork food they served and the owner made a point to talk to a lot of my guests and make them feel welcome. They were organized and quick to get back to me in the planning process. I wouldn't rather have had my wedding anywhere else. Thank you, to Country Barn and Farmer Jim!
Katie and Jim were so great and easy to work with! They make your wedding day exactly what YOU want it to be and have a lot of good and helpful ideas to give. They truly do want it to be the best day of your life and do whatever they can to make that happen. And the food is pretty great too:) I highly recommend this venue!
My husband and I had our 10/14/2017 wedding reception in the Loft of The Country Barn and I don't even know where to begin! I could not have dreamed of a more perfect rustic venue - tall ceilings with exposed beams, barn wood, brick, paper lanterns - and Jim and his staff were so professional and accommodating to us and our guests! I was looking for mums, pumpkins and cornstalks as decor in the Loft, and being a fully functioning farm as well, Jim was able to beautifully decorate the venue well beyond my expectations. The food was amazing! We decided on a true, no frills BBQ buffet style dinner with pulled pork, BBQ chicken, macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes, etc. We continue to get several comments about how delicious the food was and many of our guest went up for seconds and thirds, so that tells you just how fantastic it really was! The Taste of Lancaster dessert option they have is to die for with tons of Lancaster goodies like whoopie pies and pecan pie and we decided on soft pretzels for our guests towards the end of our reception which everyone went crazy for. We can not thank Jim and his team enough for making our day so stress-free, comfortable, and memorable. As the bride and groom we were actually able to eat, drink, dance and enjoy ourselves at our own wedding, which I was told would never happen. This is a day that we will cherish for the rest of our lives and we cannot think of a more perfect venue than The Country Barn.
I wish so much I could give this vendor 5 stars. We had our wedding in the Loft - which is an absolutely stunning reception hall. The pictures do not do it justice; when you walk in it is breath taking. Our interaction with Katie (she answers most emails) were great, she was on top of things and always responded in a very quick and timely manner. The food was very good, all my guests were raving about how good it was! Our biggest problem with this place was Farmer Jim. He is not easy to work with. When we arrived at the reception, none of our table numbers had been put on the tables which was their responsibility. This caused a lot of confusion for our guests where to sit and delayed us from being able to come and enjoy the reception. Farmer Jim was complaining to OUR GUESTS about how this doesn't usually happen and placing the blame on us for the issue. In my opinion - it doesn't matter whose fault it is when things go wrong on a wedding day (they always do) just fix the problem and keep it seamless with the guests! I was very disappointed to hear the comments he was making about us from the guests. Also - it was POURING outside on our wedding day and they still would not let anyone in the building until 5'oclock. So our guests that showed up a little early were waiting out in the rain. Overall, it was a beautiful day and a beautiful reception but I would not recommend this place to newly engaged couples because of the administration.
The venue is beautiful and you get what you pay for. Farmer Jim was amazing at organizing my day and being my go to person to keep things moving through the night. He is easy to work with and always has a solution. Ps always take his advice! Everything turned out amazing and I definitely recommend having the full pig presentation.
Everyone at the barn was amazing! They made the process so quick easy and stress free! I loved the packages and options available! It was great that catering and everything was included! This is truly an all inclusive venue! I highly recommend!
We didn't even get past the venue tour. We met with farmer Jim who was arrogant and degrading towards us. We actually had to cut things off, walk away from him and just leave in the middle of him talking. My fiancé was actually crying as we left due to the fact that no one should ever be spoken to the way he spoke to us. He was 40 minutes late to our scheduled meeting. We had checked the office building, tried calling and could not find anyone. Since we drove over an hour to get there we decided to just walk around ourselves and check out the venue. He finally came to us and began the conversation by making snobby remarks about security and didn't even apologize for being extremely late. He then started off right away insinuating that we had no money because we were local and couldn't afford the place stating that it costs 14k to rent out and people travel from DC and New York to rent this place out. He didn't even know us or our backgrounds. I am an engineer that operates power plants and he was just acting very snobby to us stating that we were young without even knowing anything or even asking about us. He complained that he had extra work to do because Katie, the usual venue tour host had a death in the family and was out. Found this extremely heartless. We then started talking about dates and that we were thinking of possibly doing a full bar. He then began to ridicule us telling us that people are going to come to our wedding who are dates of our guests and not care about us and that our work friends and people are going to get drunk, start fights, climb ladders and hang off chandlers and that we wouldn't remember our wedding. This place is insanely overpriced for what it is, smells like poop outside and has poorly treated animals all over it. There was a mutilated cat that was laying right outside of the venue and animals in cages far too small out back. Be warned because they rent this venue out to up to 3 parties at a time. So there could be another wedding party on top of, below, or outside of you. I don't really know of any bride who would want that. Overall completely flabbergasted and appalled with how terrible this experience was.
We had our wedding here in the Fall of 2016 and it was fantastic! Jim was great to work with and very accommodating to us. I was worried when I read some of the other reviews, but we had nothing but a pleasant experience with everyone there. Everything was set up on correctly and on time, the food was delicious, and the venue was great! We had our ceremony on the red brick lawn, our cocktail hour in the stable, and our reception in the loft. We also ordered the home made ice cream- it was the BEST! So much fun, and SO DELICIOUS! Thanks to Jim and the team for helping us have the best day!
My husband and I are so glad we decided to use the Country Barn for our wedding reception venue. It was a great backdrop for photos for us to remember our special day and guests continuously commented how neat the space was(we used the loft). We were so happy with how the reception went. The food all turned out just like when we had our tastings and our guests raved – one even said it was the best meal he had ever had. The buffet line went through quickly so guests didn’t have to wait long to eat. Jim gave some great suggestions from his experience during the planning process that I’m very glad we took to make the day run smoothly. The groom and I even had time to eat, which from what I hear is a feat in of itself. We did the homemade ice cream add on and everyone, including us, was very happy to have an ice cream sundae to top off the evening with. The other add on we used was the campfire, which was truly a perfect way to end the evening. I wouldn’t have used any other venue looking back. It was truly a perfect day. (Added bonus: you get to meet an adorable dog named Booboo during your wedding planning process! ☺)
We held our daughter and son in law's wedding reception in the Country Barn Loft this past May and our guests are still talking about it! What a unique and fabulous venue! The beautifully restored loft is lovely on it's own, but we chose to take it to greater heights with our table decor, flowers (Petals With Style), burlap chair covers with lace and satin ribbon ties and a lighted wall behind the band. Those extras combined with the gorgeous Japanese lanterns set the scene for an absolutely unbelievable party!
Farmer Jim and his staff worked hard to fill all of our requests and were a pleasure to work with. Although we were concerned about the alcohol policy (no hard liquor, only wine and beer and a signature drink..Jim is firm about this). We decided to offer a good selection of wines and microbrew and good quality beer and it was fine. Not a single complaint from our guests, not to mention that it is a cost savings.
The food was excellent and we chose to do the full pig presentation. Jim brings in the fully dressed pig to a special song and the crowd went wild! So much fun! Oh and the pork was lip smacking delicious along with the roasted chicken and sides. Our guests raved about the unique menu and the Taste of Lancaster County dessert buffet was also a big hit. Small touches like Jim and his staff serving soft pretzels with cheese at the end of the night took it over the top!
We had a 7 piece band (The Uptown Band) that rocked the house and we added in vintage seating and decor from Treasured Rentals and a photo booth provided by our photographer, Nathan Desch. So beautiful and so much fun!!
If you are looking for a unique venue that is reasonable priced with excellent food that you can personalize to suit your taste and budget, don't look any further. The Country Barn Loft is for you! We and all of our guests only wish we could do it all over again!
Our ceremony and reception at the Country Barn was amazing. Everyone raved about how awesome the food was and how beautiful the venue is (and it was!). Farmer Jim was awesome to work with. He's laid back and we meshed well. The grounds are amazing for pictures as well. After the ceremony, we did the hay ride and camp fire, which was such a fun way to end our evening.
We had the best time at our wedding. Candice, the wedding coordinator, was phenomenal. She, herself got married at the Country Barn prior to working there so she knows first hand how to meet the needs of the bride and groom. Several of our guest traveled from Miami and were highly impressed with the quality of the food and the presentation of the grounds. The DJ was great as well. We have nothing negative to say about our reception and highly recommend anyone who wants a country themed wedding to book at the Country Barn!
over all our wedding was WONDERFUL. the food was great, scenery was beautiful and it gave us the exact feel and atmosphere we wanted for our guests on our day.
I will say, there is very little consistency between staff & management. one thing said ..and then the opposite the next time.
It seems that Jim has one to many things going on at once and can't always focus on the things he once said or agreed to. write EVERYTHING he says down, he will change what he says and if you don't have it in writing it is pretty much "thats the way it is" from jim even if he said something else before.
The alcohol policy is very strict (understandably) but can at times be very over the top. If your idea isn't one that Jim would necessarily agree with or think is necessary (i.e having alcohol at your wedding) he will question your reasoning for wanting it. it is a great venue, but be prepared to pay. Jim is more worried about how other venues do things or what they charge, nearly everything is an up charge.
i will say, my wedding day went incredibly smooth, and they were on top of everything every step of the way in making sure that day is absolutely perfect for you. i felt so overwhelmed and at the end they took care of everything! Despite the chaos of planning and the back and forth answers from the staff things when very well.
Farmer Jim was so great with being down to earth and matter of fact the entire way from browsing to booking to planning to the big day! It is a family affair and his father was the florist and did an amazing job with all the flowers that came from their own greenhouse. We didn't have to decorate because the loft speaks for itself! We stayed overnight in their bed and breakfast as part of our package and the breakfast the next day was great! Great value and we really felt like family!
A truly wonderful venue. There are no words to describe how wonderful our wedding was. If you're looking for a down-to-earth rustic wedding, then look no further. The staff at the Country Barn are so easy going and a pleasure to work with. Every part of our wedding was magical - but most importantly the venue. The farm grounds are picturesque and the Loft barn is so unique and beautiful. I wish I could relive it all over again.
I'll be honest here...it was hot and we had a hell of time with the B&B people, but the wedding was everything I could've ever dreamed of. People are still talking about my wedding and say it was the best wedding they've ever been to. A recent manager hire has changed the world of the Country Barn for the best!
The Country barn was a great place for our wedding reception! We loved the venue. Great food and great service! We had a simple, classy, some country wedding theme, and it was great! Jim is very helpful and follows what the couple wants. They allowed us to set up the day before without extra charges, which we thought was a bonus! They also included sparkling cider for a toast and no cake cutting fee in their wedding packages. We were able to supply the exact amount of alcohol that we wanted at the wedding and we went with the bar option, which worked out really well with a mixed crowd of "drinkers" and "non-drinkers." Great set-up overall and great quality! Only a couple downfalls...we wish we would've had a longer reception but did not because after a certain time you pay by the half hour (I don't think this is unusual). There was no discount for children, and we had a number of children. We were a little disappointed with our DJ. He played some songs that didn't "light up" our crowd, and we had to re-direct him during the reception. My recommendation for that would be to have a very specific "Must play" list and to be very specific with what you want and with a reception plan. Also, Jim has some guidelines about not having flames/candles and not using tacks, etc. to decorate, but it turned out wonderfully! We did alot of decorating (which was not actually needed because it's beautiful there!), but with the decorating everything still turned out wonderfully and we could even have sparklers for our exit (with certain rules!) Overall, really wonderful, and beautiful venue!
Overall we were pleased. Farmer Jim is a pretty good guy to work with. Be advised that the Barn is still a work in progress hence why his prices are so cheap compared to other farms in the area. We used the barn June 2011 the upper level. It was beautiful for our reception. The only complaints I have are: DJ is included and the one that was available for our wedding day, I did not like. He was always coming up to me during the reception while I was eating, dancing, talking to family ect. I dont think I got 5 minutes in before he was coming over to me letting me know when I should be doing cake cutting ect. I'd be talking to family or friends and Id look over my shoulder and there he was. He also didnt play hardly anything off my playlist. So if you decide to go this direction, do not use Dare to Dance, try to get the other one. The other complaint I have is, we had a buffet and I looked over and saw the workers grabbing plates after our guests had. I felt like it should have been discussed ahead of time since we are paying for the food. I also saw them helping themselves to cake too. The cake was purchased from a different vendor. I didn't get a slice of cake I ordered. I had to cut into the top tier to get the flavor cake I wanted. So I was a little annoyed with them helping themselves to food that we had paid for without asking ahead of time or even just asking. My last complaint was, I understand its a farm, but the owners dog shouldn't be present at the reception. The dog showed up around the end of the reception but still, they should have asked if its okay if the dog was in the barn walking around.
Despite the complaints, the food was amazing, the barn was beautiful and for the money, its reasonably priced for all you get included.
We had our Reception @ the Country Barn. We had met with Jim a few times prior to the wedding, he is detailed and walked us through each step. The best part was that our price was inclusive: DJ, Catering, Linens, Dinnerware, etc, and not 50 cents per napkin,$2 per plate or anything ridiculous. He called to check in with us before the wedding and ask if we had questions or needed anything. When we got there on our wedding day everything was perfect and the food was DELICIOUS!
