Our wedding at deCordova was an absolute dream, we could have not asked for a better, more magical day. Tori went above and beyond to help make our day special. As my husband said the day after our wedding, Tori was the MVP of our day. She is professional, dedicated, thoughtful, and caring—the exact presence you want with you on your wedding day. She fixed my hair during photos and brought us tissues during our private vows—she was there to support us in any way, and was always a step ahead of us. One guest sent us a video of when I began to walk down the steps to get to the aisle and I completely forgot to pause for a moment for Tori to adjust my train, but she was there running after me to do what she could. This is the level of dedication that Tori has! We also loved the beauty of this venue. One guest described it as “venues within venues” because each space—the pondside terrace for the ceremony, the gallery for the cocktail hour, and the sailcloth reception tent—feels so unique and beautiful. deCordova as a venue is absolutely stunning, and Tori makes it all the more special!
We could not be happier with our choice to get married at deCordova. The staff are all so kind, helpful, and excited that you're getting married there! Events manager Tori is the most organized, dedicated, smart, and awesome human to work with. She had answers to every question during the walk-through, supported our vision, gave great advice about flow and use of the museum's spaces for our wedding. On wedding day, she literally crouched down next to my nephews who were very restless waiting for the processional to start and distracted them with a few blocks. Talk about a professional going above and beyond to be prepared for any situation! The deCordova is absolutely stunning, our photos came out incredibly, having the flexibility to be able to move inside/stay outside ended up being a game changer for us because the weather was iffy. It was such a highlight of our wedding day to take pictures while the museum was still open and get to see visitors enjoying their day, having a picnic on the lawn or viewing the art. The vibes and aesthetic are stunning and sophisticated without being uptight or stuffy. Loved it all and can't wait to visit every anniversary!
It's true that the grounds are beautiful, the museum and AC and tent are perfect. especially for our humid July wedding. But this review is about Tori. Tori makes weddings happen at Decordova. Book your wedding here and you'll have an ally by your side every step of the way.
Tori was there from day one, by our sides making sure that we had everything we needed to make our wedding a reality. She helped me choose table linens, helped me navigate family dynamics, communicated with all of our vendors, answered every question we had in detail, and literally held my hand the day of. She made sure we got the sunset photos we wanted and that everything stayed on track. Her staff was there, present, helpful, and wonderful (thank you Beth!). It may sound like I'm gushing, and that's because I am. Tori made it so I could actually enjoy my wedding without stress or worry, and I can't thank her enough.
Go for the landscape and art, but book for the service and support. It's worth it.
My husband and I cannot recommend the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum enough! It is such a beautiful and unique venue. We worked with Tori Nagle for over a year on our wedding and she is simply the best. Tori answered my (many, many) emails promptly and she was always so reassuring and kind. It ended up raining on our wedding day and we had to have our ceremony indoors instead of on the sculpture terrace, but thanks to Tori and her team we still had the perfect day! Thank you so much for everything!
Our wedding day at DeCordova was perfect -- it was the most beautiful, natural, artsy, outdoor party. Tori was 100% on top of every detail leading up to the wedding, was incredibly responsive, and went above and beyond her duties on the day of the wedding to ensure our day was smooth and beautiful. We had the most amazing September weather for our wedding, but we had planned out an extensive (and elegant) rain plan just in case. The venue was stunning, and Tori and her team were incredible leading up to and on the day of the wedding. We had an amazing experience at DeCordova!!
The deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum is a breathtaking venue for your wedding, tucked away in Lincoln, MA just minutes from a major highway, plenty of hotels and 30 minutes from Logan airport. Tori, Event Director, was incredibly responsive from the start all the way through until the day of the wedding. We planned our wedding in just 12 weeks (stole an open spot on the calendar just as it became available) and she didn't skip a beat helping to organize every detail, including making excellent suggestions on how to create the wedding of our dreams. Gorgeous tent is part of the event price, indoor/outdoor options in case of rain and a happy, helpful team. Priced very affordably for all the value it delivers - we couldn't recommend deCordova, Tori and her team more highly. Check them out and book early!!
Our wedding here was just perfect in every way. The staff was wonderful, the tent looked beautiful, and many of our guests were blown away by how idyllic the setting was, from beginning to end. Tori was very responsive and extremely helpful, beforehand and on the day itself. We could not have asked for a better venue!
DeCordova is a DREAM venue for so many reasons. First, the grounds are spectacular - seriously unmatched in New England. We had our ceremony on the sculpture terrace, which perched atop of a scenic hill, overlooking a lake, surrounded by trees, and right next to the beautiful, ivy-covered building. The reception tent setup is also ideal: top quality, owned by the venue so no setup risk, set on a nice concrete slab (no wet grass) and nestled in the trees on top of the hill, and also handicap accessible and close to the restrooms.
Next, indoor spaces are so awesome we decided to incorporate them in our non-rain plan. We had our cocktail hour in the gallery. It's a sunlit, modern (giant windows, white walls) space. Combined with the outdoor sculptures, the artistic angle of this venue makes it so creative and cool!
Finally, the event staff were amazing to work with. Tori, who we worked with from the beginning, was so responsive and helpful. She even helped us find a great florist. We absolutely loved working with her and our awesome day-of venue coordinator! Her and her team have wedding execution down to a science, with a list of recommended vendors, great options for the flow of the wedding, and a day-of spreadsheet that helps iron out all the details.
We saw dozens of venues, and if you are looking for nature + modern + a good rain plan, this is the best of the best.
DeCordova is such a unique & beautiful venue. Many of our guests were from out of town and the venue really provided a magical destination wedding feel! They recently built a tent area in the back, which is great to do a reception in. The new event manager (Tori) was fantastic, despite taking on the role just weeks before the event. She communicated proactively with other couples who had wedding that weekend, which allowed us to share some of the costs! Great venue and planning team - would recommend to anyone!
We recently had our wedding at the deCordova. We loved the venue having been a member for many years and enjoying the location. It could not have been a more lovely day for our wedding and guests loved the outside space and the galleries. The team there was amazing and attentive. The only draw back was the overall cost for the day which was more than we wanted to spend but ultimately was worth it.
The deCordova is everything you want in a venue - beauty, elegance and uniqueness. Our guests said it was the best place that they have attended a wedding at. You have the entire museum (inside and outside) and you get to create where you want to have your ceremony and cocktail hour. It is one of the most beautiful places in the area (overlooking a lake, art, green grass, etc).
Jevon our wedding planner was amazing from start to finish. She always emailed us back promptly and answered all of our questions. She was very detailed in her answers and always told us the truth. Everything she said she was going to do, Jevon did with perfection. She stayed most of the night to make sure everything went smoothly and it did. If you want a unique and creative wedding with a wedding planner who is knowledgeable, detailed and extremely kind - the deCordova is the place!
My husband and I were married at the DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum about a month ago. I could not have asked for a more perfect setting for our wedding. When I began planning, all I knew was that I did not want my wedding to have a generic hotel/ball room type venue. We wanted a wedding venue that would be unique, beautiful, and memorable. We found that at the DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. The venue was so interesting and absolutely beautiful, from the fantastic view seen from the roof top terrace, to the captivating grounds of the sculpture park, to the dynamic contemporary art gallery where our reception was held. We received so many complements on it!
Our coordinator Jevon was amazing. She played a BIG role in our decision to have our wedding at DeCordova. Jevon’s excitement for the venue and our wedding was contagious. She was so easy to work with and flexible, assuring me we could make final location decisions, taking weather into consideration, up until the wedding day. She worked seamlessly with our vendors including the amazing Paula and Courtney from Marrero Events. She was always quick to respond to e-mails. It was like working with a friend.
While the cost was a bit higher than many venues, it was worth it. I loved the opportunity to share this unique venue with our guests. Everyone had access to the entire venue instead of being relegated to one or two rooms. It was the perfect setting for our first moments together as husband and wife and I couldn't imagine having been married anywhere else.
The DeCordova is a perfect spot for weddings, especially if the weather is nice enough to make use of the spectacular outdoor spaces (although the inside of the museum is very nice too). We got married on the lawn, in front of an incredibly vivid and gorgeous, newly-installed red rope wall sculpture, with red and orange flower strings draped from pine trees above. I processed in through the larger-than-life metal pipes sculpture, and a friend told me it was the most striking entrance he'd ever seen at a wedding. It was late October, so the weather was crisp, but the beautiful fall leaves rustling in the trees and tumbling across the lawn in the wind made it feel cozily autumnal. The reception was indoors, where people warmed up with hot cider, cocktails, and dancing.
In addition to the beauty of the location, the staff at the DeCordova is incredibly professional and skilled. Jevon, the event coordinator, was friendly, positive, and completely on top of things throughout the planning process and the ceremony itself. The other staff members who remained throughout the event were quiet, and inobtrusive, but also helpful, and made sure things went smoothly.
The DeCordova has a list of several (maybe 7ish?) preferred caterers, and the one we worked with, Season to Taste, was phenomenal.
Can't say enough good things about this wonderful place, and our experience there. :)
The deCordova was our dream venue and Jevon was such a pro to work with at every stage of the planning process. We felt so taken care of by her and her team. I couldn't possibly recommend this magical place and the wonderful people who work there enough. You get a knockout outdoor setting with an equally beautiful and unique indoor space so, rain or shine, it's a win. Such a gem.
My husband and I have always loved coming to the deCordova Sculpture garden and museum because it is a wonderful place to explore, view contemporary art, and to get away from the city. As a wedding venue it was a great choice for us as it had both the natural setting he wanted and a contemporary quasi urban feel I wanted. In addition, the customer service we received was amazing. Jevon Biffinger was an incredible event manager. She answered all of our questions promptly, calmed my anxieties easily, and was warm and professional in all of our interactions. During our walk through, it was easy to envision how everything would run for the event (even in the case of rain) and so I felt so much more at ease once the day came around. On the day of the event itself, everything was perfect. All the staff were professional and warm, and I couldn't ask for anything more. The price tag is a bit steep, but I think it's worth it if you want an unforgettable event at a truly unique venue and amazing customer service.
On the whole, our experience at deCordova was great. The space is beautiful, we lucked out with some great exhibits, and our event manager for most of the planning process, Jessica, was great. The wedding itself went very smoothly and the space felt truly our own that night. The slight upset came when our event manager left the museum 2 weeks before our wedding day. We were anxious about the change, but the new manager was very nice and spent a lot of time going through everything with us. The day of the event, she was very helpful and helped ensure that everything ran smoothly. Here is where we ran into a bit of hiccup. Now, we had a very non-traditional wedding and for the cocktail hour, my husband and I played in our own band. During the planning process with Jessica we had chosen and outdoor and an indoor spot to place the band so we would know where/when to setup. And one of the reasons we chose deCordova is because they were open to us doing this and okay with the band setup either outside or inside. I realize that VERY few brides sing a ten song set on their wedding day, so I want to preface what I'm about to say by noting that this was uncharted territory for the museum. Come the day before the wedding, it looks like it is going to rain - we have to change our plans and play inside. Our event manager and the museum personnel became very anxious about this idea and all of sudden, the rules began to change...creating a very stressful and anxiety-inducing 24 hours prior to the event. I realize much of this stress was brought on myself, but there were promises made to us when Jessica was managing our event that the museum clearly was not comfortable with come the day of the wedding. They ultimately honored their promises, though I would have liked if everything had been made clear to us earlier on in the process (rather than the day of my wedding).
That said, we very much enjoyed our wedding day, it was a phenomenal success and even though it poured all night - the indoor option ended up being just a great, if not better, than the outdoor option. The museum has recently raised its fees quite a bit, so had we been getting married this year, we could no longer have afforded it - but, if you can, it's a one-of-a-kind experience.
I took art classes at deCordova growing up so to return with the idea of getting married here was just magical. The grounds are beautiful and the Museum is so fun and interesting! We got married during Hurricane Irene weekend and instead of getting married outside if it were sunny out, the wedding was moved inside. I honestly think it was just as beautiful inside as it would have been outside. The exhibit in the museum at the time was cedar wood sculptures by ursula von rydingsvard and it was breathtaking...Jessica the coordinator at the Museum is a pleasure to work with, she is very sweet and professional. The whole experience for me was perfect! I would recommend deCordova to anyone who is artistic, unique, playful...you can have a lot of fun with the space and playing off of the art!
We had our wedding reception only at the deCordova. It was absolutely breath-taking! The sculpture terrace was perfect for our cocktail hour at sunset (and would be very nice for an outdoor ceremony as well). The Dewey Family Gallery, where the dinner/dancing was held is cool, modern, and the perfect size for a wedding of 120 or so. The dance floor stage is awesome, and the art-work, although on a rotating installment was supercool for our event. Guests have the entire museum to themselves and are welcome to move through the galleries as they wish. If you are looking for a different, sophisticated and beautifully modern reception site, the deCordova is the place! Also, Jessica the coordinator is wonderful!
