re after 1500+ weddings. It was truly an honest mistake but it was not made out of carelessness, negligence, or a lack of attention to detail. I take every moment at a wedding very seriously and pay very close attention to details. I was told to fade out the first dance when I "see the dip." I was paying very close attention and faded the song out as soon as I saw the dip. It was closer towards the later part of the song as well. I was not told that there would a move called a "stretch" that looks very similar to a dip to most people. My music form specifically asks for a time stamp but I was told to look for the dip. It was a genuine mistake and I apologize. I know you worked hard on your dance and this is not something that I take lightly. I did proceed to bring the music back up so that you could continue your dance as well. I immediately walked up to you and offered an apology because I genuinely care. I have been told to look for a dip many times, this one was executed very similarly and I have never had an issue in the past. I am always proactive and reach out to schedule a final meeting. It is typically done 1-2 weeks before the wedding because there are many final details that get changed last minute, and I am the one making announcements based on all of the final vendor/coordinator approved details. Most weddings have last minute changes, as was the case for yours, and scheduling the call closer to the wedding helps avoid any mistakes with so many last minute changes. As a courtesy, I responded and scheduled our final meeting well ahead of time before the thanksgiving holiday. November is the busiest wedding month of the year and I scheduled our meeting in November, well ahead of your December wedding. I apologize for any email delays. I typically do my best to respond to all emails within 24-48 hours. November is a very busy month and I also explained that my dad's health was declining and it has been a particularly busy few months because I am a caretaker for my dad's declining health (and brain surgery the morning after we had our final call). It did not prevent me from scheduling our call or paying close attention to any of the details in your emails such as the wedding party change during the grand entrance. I completely agree...communication is very important. I have made a full-time career as a DJ because of communication. Sometimes I do get a little busier than other times. I do not have an assistant answering my emails. The advantage of this is that I am personally responding to emails and make sure to write down every detail that I read to avoid mistakes. This is definitely helpful with weddings because many details can get lost in communication between multiple people or assistants. Every single wedding is equally important to me. I responded to all of your emails, including the ones the week before the wedding. It did take me a few days to respond to one of them but I made a note of all of the details and did not miss any of those details during the wedding. I often have weddings Thursday-Sunday and don't like responding between weddings because I like to focus on each wedding individually. It helps me avoid missing details since I am not quickly responding to an email while DJ'ing someone else's wedding. The dance floor was full most of the night. There was never a moment where the dance floor was "empty." The venue can support almost 350+ people and there were approximately 85 guests present with a larger dance floor layout, which could contribute to making it feel empty if there are less guests on the dance floor and not all of them at any given time. Many of the guests stayed and participated through the last song of the evening, even with an almost 3 hour open dance portion. I played a lot of music that catered to the older guests for most of the evening. I was given some hip-hop and EDM style songs to play from your must-play list. I also received some requests from your younger guests that I accommodated because they were very kind and requested multiple times. They were genuinely excited to hear them. This caused a couple of brief lulls between the demographics of the guests but never made the dance floor completely empty. The younger guests were dancing for a little bit while some of the older guests were seated. I received a specific request from your bridesmaids multiple times and played it while they were on the dance floor enjoying it. They were very kind. It created a brief lull during that song and some of the hip-hop/edm style songs from your must play list and guest requests, but I switched up the music to cater to the older guests again as soon as I was done playing them. The older guests did get back up and dance again all the way through the last song of the evening. I played every request that I received from the older and younger guests and they all seemed to really enjoy their songs. I truly care about every wedding. I did not get into this business for money. I love what I do and I take it very seriously. I provided a full refund of your payment, including the gratuity, even though you didn't ask for a refund. I know it was deeply disappointing to you about your first dance and I genuinely felt bad and apologized. During the setup of the reception hall before the wedding, I also offered $200 worth of free lighting as an extra special courtesy to you and the coordinating staff. Also, just before the private last dance, the staff was immediately stacking chairs and breaking down tables/linens. I immediately moved the stacks of chairs out of the frame of photos and asked the staff to clear the room. I take every wedding seriously and this was a moment where it wasn't my job, but I tried to go above and beyond to make your private last dance special.
