We booked our wedding hotel room block here, and had a mixed experience.
Pros:
-They offer the most amenities of hotels in the area which all worked out great. Guests enjoyed the pool, it was nice to have breakfast as an option (although it isn't free), and we had an informal after-party at the on-site restaurant.
-The staff during our stay was wonderful. Our guests kept talking about the guy at check-in being so nice and funny, and the staff for my conference room while getting ready was very accommodating. They labeled and handed out our "welcome bags". They accommodated most people who needed to check in early.
Cons:
-It was a nightmare working with the group sales person on the room block. He would not respond for weeks at a time, even when we would be approaching deadlines that they set. There were constant mistakes made in room changes. They were 20 minutes late to our 30-minute final meeting in person. It was a very stressful experience throughout wedding planning, and an important one for us as we had over 70 rooms blocked with almost all of our guests traveling from out of town.
-We were put in touch with a separate person for coordinating the conference room and catering while ladies got hair and make-up done for the wedding. This person and the original group sales person double-charged us for the conference space (and charged us different prices, to add to the mess)
-When we booked the room block in 2022, they said they would be doing a full renovation of the rooms to start and finish by the end of 2022 and advertised that our guests would have a new, modern experience. Time passes, delays happen, they didn't even plan to start the renovation until the month after our wedding in 2023. Not a big deal, the rooms were fine, but just speaks to the management/group sales experience.
Overall, it all worked out, and the only cons really impacted me and my husband planning things behind the scenes. But man, was it a headache.
We enjoyed the free upgrade for bridal suite and were so thankful for their hospitality. They even dropped our marriage license in the mail :)
They were justo awesome to work with. Marie the wedding planner was extremely professional and had everything done to the minimum planned for us. Then Kris our planner for the night was amazing as well. We highly recommend the DoubleTree hotel in Milford for a wedding. Not only the people there were all great to work with but the price was definitely affordable for what we had envisioned for our wedding day to be!
My husband and I used this hotel for our wedding guests, as well and ourselves the night of our wedding. What sold us on this hotel was the bar the sales manager told us we could use for our after party, and last call was at 2 am. He sent a contract, but I had some issues with the attrition rate. After months of back and forth (they're not the quickest to respond), we came to an agreement and I asked for a new contract to be sent. I signed it right away and my website was created for guests to reserve rooms. When I checked the site only the king rooms were showing, not the doubles we had agreed to as well. Turns out they had booked all the double rooms, but neglected to mention it or put that in the new contract I signed. They told us our suite would be comped, but we were still down double rooms for those who needed them . Cut to after the wedding at our after party in the hotel bar. The location was great, but that was all. The bartenders were rude to our guests, would not turn the music or even tv volume on (not up, on. It was dead quiet), and they ignored our guests when asking for drinks (no one was over served at our wedding, everyone was well behaved). Then at 11 pm they turned the lights on and announced last call. I was specifically told last call was at 2 am. The final straw was about a week before our wedding I emailed the sales manager asking if I could drop off welcome gifts for our guests room. He said to drop them off at the front desk and they would take care of it. I dropped off the hangover kits and bottled water to the front desk the day before the wedding. When we checked out the Sunday after our wedding, the front desk handed me the box of hangover kits and an unopened case of water. They never put the gifts in the guest rooms! I was so mad and embarrassed. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
P.S. They charged us for our room that was supposed to be comped. I had to call for a refund.
The DoubleTree was a great place for a wedding. Marie was wonderful to work with and everything felt so easy, with no hidden fees making it very easy to plan our budget accordingly. Every question and concern we had was answered and addressed quickly. The staff was great and kept everything on time and well organized. We could not have asked for a better venue.
Marie was outstanding. She had everything under control and kept us on time for the event. She always answered our questions in a timely manner. The ballroom looked stunning all decorated. The food was amazing , the cocktail hour was by the indoor pool which was beautiful. I had so many compliments about how amazing all the staff was. I would recommend this venue again
I admit that I am not your typical bride who found joy in wanting to plan a wedding. When I was looking for venues I found that a lot of places had hidden fees or crazy taxes. When I first met with Marie, she actually displayed interest in me and my wants. There are no hidden taxes or fees and the price you see is the price you get. The wedding planning process was also made very easy by the packages. All I had to find was a pastor, photographer/videographer, and DJ which made my life simple and stress free.
The venue is beautiful. The ballroom has wonderful chandeliers that set the mood. The cocktail hour near the pool was very nice.
My guests enjoyed themselves and I received a lot of compliments on the venue.
I highly recommend this venue. It is a affordable and convenient.
I cannot say enough about The Doubletree in Milford. On September 2, 2017 I held my wedding reception at this location. Choosing the Doubletree was one of the best decisions of wedding planning. When walking into the hotel, my now husband and I were in awe of how beautiful, clean and updated the hotel was. As we meet with Marie, the director of catering, it became SO clear that this was our venue. The Ballroom, cocktail hour space, hospitality room, and hotel itself helped create the desired elegant but comfortable wedding we had hoped for.
Marie and team were incredible through the whole planning process, answering all questions and accommodating for all our needs. They were detailed and customer orientated and always made our wedding feel special and like their top priority.
When the big day came, Marie and Cris (Banquet Manager) were amazing. There was not one detailed that was missed. As we did a walk through of the room prior to the wedding, everything was perfect.
During the wedding, family and friends were coming up to us saying how delicious the food was. I would say the appetizers and meals were the best wedding food I have ever had. The event/banquet staff were professional and quick. Working in a similar industry, I was impressed by the timing of dinner and how fast everything was transitioned. Marie and Cris were more than accommodating with a very special dietary need and we will forever be grateful for this.
The wedding packages offered are unbelievable and the thought of not having to worry about linens, cake, or flowers was such a huge relief. All the outside vendors were very professional and also commented on the outstanding reputation of the hotel.
That night, we stayed in the hotel and offered a room block to our guest. The rooms were clean, updated, and extremely comfortable. It was so convenient being able to take an elevator up to our room after such an incredible event.
Marie, Cris, Gianni and team help make our wedding the best night of our lives and we are so thankful. We have and will continue to recommended the Doubletree to any person looking to plan a wedding or any other event.
The DoubleTree was a wonderful spot for our wedding. Since it was in the winter wanted to be close to home and to have ceremony/reception in one spot, it was perfect! All staff were beyond helpful. We heard from so many guests on how great the food was and how impressive the portions were. We are so happy we went with the Doubletree! Marie Thomason, Ceceilia, and Gianni were amazing!
Very nice overall, though I feel like some aspects were over priced, and there were issues with the air-conditioning during the cocktail hour.
My weeding reception at the Doubletree Milford was wonderfull from start to finish. The Event Cordinator Marie was the very helpfull and kind and the Food and Berverage manager Tom was a delight the day of the wedding. The ballroom thae so beautiful, all mu guest had a great time.
