Absolutely stunning garden for a wedding ceremony! The upper and lower garden is just beautiful. The banquet hall was very nice and spacious and the food was delicious. We did run into issues during the process and wedding, and while they did make up for it in the end, I still am going to mention them as a word of caution to other couples looking at this location for their wedding.
I cannot stress this enough, but get *everything* in writing. Even the most trivial things you don't think need to be written down/confirmed. We initially worked with Patrick, a sales manager. He told us about a ton of wonderful things we'd get with this venue, which was partly why we booked them. However, a few months later a woman named Sherly took over as the interim banquet manager, and I had to deal with her moving forward. Not only was she shockingly rude, but she made me hunt down every single email sent between Patrick and myself to prove he said what I told her he said. She also pushed back on us doing a food tasting (she clearly just didn't want to do it), and was reluctant to agree to what we were promised. Thankfully, she was just the interim and eventually Lea took over.
Lea was very sweet to work with and she immediately dove into the job, full steam ahead. Unfortunately despite Sherly telling me she would fill Lea in on everything we were told we'd get for our wedding, I had to prove everything all over again with Lea. Not just extras which Patrick just added that they apparently don't even do (wine service with dinner), but standard things written in their marketing materials (ivory linens instead of white), I had to find it documented, and send it. So that was kind of annoying. However they upheld everything we were promised. But this is why I would stress to get it all in writing!
The day of the wedding had a few issues, despite our very detailed BEO. The wrong arch for the ceremony; staff failed to move the chairs for our post ceremony pictures; the Genji Lounge where we got ready was appallingly disgusting (5 dead cockroaches on the floor, water damaged ceiling in 2 spots plus a dirty bucket to catch the leak); the heat was blasting in the banquet hall despite it having been 90 degrees that day and us asking them repeatedly to turn it off; staff unavailable to assist our photo booth vendors despite them saying they would be available; their parking situation is nothing short of a nightmare: watch how much they charge! We were told it was $12 for self-parking, but several guests told me they were charged anywhere from $40-$60. Come to find out, the Doubletree knew it had been an issue for at least 3 days.
Despite these issues the wedding was absolutely lovely; it really is a gem of a location. I understand that with COVID, lots of places are struggling, so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and I do hope they get it together. I did end up bringing my issues up to Lea after the wedding, and they promptly refunded me a small amount to make up for it. I am grateful that they saw how much they dropped the ball, and didn't fight me on making it right. Lea is wonderful to work with, I don't envy the mess that she inherited, but she is doing a fantastic job. All in all, the venue is such a wonderful place to have a wedding.

I highly recommend finding a different venue if you're considering having a wedding here.
Doubletree completely screwed us over by delaying our wedding tasting by months and months. When we finally tried the food one month away from our wedding, it was absolutely awful!! Some of it looked straight up out of a TV dinner box. We told them that we couldn't possibly serve this food to our guests. (Nor did we want to eat it ourselves.) We tried bringing an outside caterer in and they wanted to charge us an extra $50 per guest!! We ended up having to cancel with them and postpone our wedding, get a new venue, send out new invitations, and buy all new wedding decorations that already had our wedding dates printed on them. Fun times!!
On top of that, their communication was absolutely awful throughout the entire process, sometimes I would not even hear back from them for weeks. During our tasting they even tried to pull some bait and switch tactics, what a complete disaster. I would definitely avoid booking with Doubletree at all costs!

The Doubletree is BEYOND beautiful, the food is delicious, the garden is gorgeous, and Gloria is the nicest most accommodating person. I picked this place as a venue 1 whole year before my husband even proposed! That’s how sure I was and I was not disappointed. This place is amazing and you won’t be disappointed.

Charlene was so easy to work with and welcomed us when we arrived at the hotel. There were other events going on in the hotel but the way it is designed our group always felt intimate. Everyone was helpful. Beautiful gardens, and an amazing ballroom that looks out over them. All of our guests had a wonderful weekend!

Doubletree was the very first venue we have toured. From the minute Gloria greeted us, we felt a genuine excitement from her of our big day. As she walked us through the gorgeous Kyoto Gardens of where our ceremony would be, she made the experience so special and unique that allowed us to envision what our day would look like. It definitely set the bar high for our other venue tours! Although we ultimately decided on a different venue, Gloria and Charlene left a lasting impression with their enthusiasm, quick responsiveness, and willingness to go above and beyond to meet our expectations. For anyone that's considering this space for their wedding, I can say without a doubt they will be in great hands with Gloria and Charlene with planning their big day!

Planning our wedding at the DoubleTree at DTLA was overall a wonderful experience with the exception of booking rooms for ourselves and VIP guests. The special events team lead by Gloria G and Charlene M was simply put, amazing! We had a very positive experience with them from day one to day married. Cannot thank you both enough for the consistent positive and warm vibe you both exude. These two were always friendly, supportive, and went out of thier way to make things happen picture perfect for our wedding day. Special thank you for helping us find our personalize wedding flutes when they got misplaced even days after the reception and thank you for the special treats you provided in our complimentary guest room. You both are awesome! The food service team was quick, friendly, and very professional on the day of reception. The appetizers and main entrees like the charbroiled New York steak and pan seared Seabass were absolutely fantastic and we received nothing but compliments from the guests. DoubleTree here is surely packing some amazing chefs... cheers! Now everything would be absolutely perfect except for how we were treated and handled when we were trying to book rooms for ourselves and special guests. Luis S was not helpful, and very sarcastic at times. David F appeared to help but ultimately didn't do much to help resolve the situation but at least he didn't act sarcastic in his emails to us. What was this situation... well we were trying for several weeks before wedding reception time to secure rooms that could accommodate 3-4 people. Some eventually had to share a single King bed and slept on the floor cause they didn't have enough roller beds to offer. Yes, the place was booked...but why didn't the reservations staff reach out to us way before to let us know we had to move quickly? We are a big wedding party that brought in good business... lots of our attendees became aware of this fiasco and that's sure to sour their opinion when planning for future weddings of their own. Definitely not typical of a higher rate hotels... Days Inn and Motel 6 does a better job than these guys. Ric E was the exception and went out of his way just days before the main event to secure a few double queen rooms for us; thank you Ric! Overall, our wedding went very well and was a memorable occasion...lovely setting with the Japanese Garden across our event room the Thousand Cranes. This was an excellent value for our money and you can't go wrong... just be on top of booking rooms or make it easier and book nearby elsewhere!!

Gloria and Charlene were great with us during the entire planning process. Gloria and Charity were amazing on the day of the wedding helping us prepare backup plans because of possible rain. Fortunately the skies cleared up and we were able to have a beautiful ceremony in the upper garden area, but it was great knowing that a backup plan was already in place. We highly recommend this team and the awesome venue!

Such a beautiful venue in the heart of DTLA, on the roof of the hotel! We were so happy to find a beautiful garden, with both indoor and outdoor availability. We had our ceremony outside in the garden, the cocktail/appetizer hour outside in the garden terrace to the side of the ceremony site, and the reception inside. The indoor room has full floor to ceiling windows the entire length of one of the walls, that looks out into the garden, so you still have the garden feel while being comfortable inside! We had minimal decorations inside because the garden wall is so beautiful. We had the perfect day.

There are many good things to say about the Double Tree Hilton in DTLA. The Japanese garden is gorgeous and the reception area is quite beautiful. The wedding coordinator and her staff are incredibly helpful and guided us throughout the process. The only negative thing I would say about my experience there that the waiters during the wedding reception were not super friendly, but that was not a big deal. The bride and I would full-heartily recommend the Double Tree by Hilton for your perfect wedding!

Working with Gloria and Charlene was outstanding and professional from the moment we met with them, while touring the venue's well-kept and gorgeous garden, until the day of our wedding and beyond. We searched other venues but our heart kept going back to this DoubleTree DTLA location. The garden area with its waterfall is absolutely beautiful from the entrance, and was just as we were envisioning for our wedding reception. We booked the Thousand Cranes Room for our reception, which makes the garden as our backdrop. Gloria and Charlene were amazing from beginning till the end, helping us out with any questions we had. They were always responsive with questions and were very easy to work with. We nor any of our vendors had any issues with communication, set up, etc. The wedding went so smoothly that all of our guests complimented the venue and how cozy they felt despite being located in the middle of a busy city. Further, this Doubletree's food were exquisite, using high quality ingredients. None of our guests complained about the food! From the appetizers during cocktail hour to dinner to their selection of alcoholic beverages and the staff's service were excellent. Overall, we highly recommend the Doubletree DTLA as a wedding venue if you (and your guests) live near the LA area and want a venue that is open air and secluded. Our wedding was amazing and everything we could have ever hoped for.

We already knew the location was conveniently located in downtown LA and had a beautiful, gorgeous Japanese garden from the New Otani days that would be perfect for photos. Everything about the set up also is convenient - from getting ready, to the ceremony, to cocktail hour, to reception - it's all right there. On top of that, the staff was very responsive, friendly, and professional.

It started raining right before our outdoor ceremony in the gardens was supposed to start. Aeri and Felix went above and beyond to do whatever they possibly could to make the ceremony beautiful inside as they were fully aware of my disappointment in the weather. They moved it back and forth from the garden to the reception room a couple of times because the weather kept changing at the last minute. They moved everything without hesitation and ONLY with the best interest of making a memorable experience for myself and the groom. Everything turned out beautiful even though we had to move the ceremony inside.
Aeri was always immediately responsive throughout the entire planning process, answering some of the same questions over and over, and always with professionalism. She did not miss one detail in our BEO and often thought of things we did not. On the day of our wedding, she dealt with our stress and disappointment with clear compassion.
Felix and his staff were tremendous on the day of the wedding as well. They moved things, they fixed things, they checked on things, they calmed us down – they MADE IT HAPPEN. Both the rehearsal lunch and reception were FABULOUS. He checked with us several times throughout the evening. There was not one hiccup Saturday night. It was a great event!
Charity also did a wonderful job on rehearsal day by assisting the team with the rehearsal lunch. It was a beautiful event, and she was very attentive to our needs and requests. I can tell she is very efficient, and it was a pleasure to work with her.
All our guests enjoyed their stay in the hotel. We spent a lot of time in the lobby bar and at the restaurant. It was fun, the food was good, and these were great places for families and friends to get together. The front desk and bell staff were immediately responsive to any issues we had. The service and friendliness of the hotel staff was greatly appreciated by all the out of town guests.

The planning of our wedding was very fast so when I had to quickly find a location to do it at, I found that DoubleTree had a beautiful garden in the middle of Los Angeles. Gloria Guiles and Aeri were so patient and worked very closely with us to make sure that our wedding will turn out perfect. Their answers to my emails were prompt and they were very detailed. In addition, Gloria and Aeri were just such sweethearts. They were very nice to us and helped us through the entire process from planning to even post wedding, as well as our accommodations. With all the revisions I made, they were so understanding about everything. The food was also fantastic! We and our guests loved the food. They also said that the place was amazing. We also got a good deal for the entire place plus the food and you can’t beat that price for what we got. All in all, my husband and I were very happy with all of it and I’m now feeling incredibly nostalgic about it! I hope to be back for another event and I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and family.
Lastly, they sent us chocolate strawberries and champagne to our complimentary room which was so very sweet! Thank you Gloria and Aeri. :)

The venue was absolutely perfect! I have received many compliments on how beautiful the venue was from all of my guests. All the appetizers, salad, and entrees were very good and I have received many compliments on the food was well. Since the hotel worked with my wedding coordinator so well, I was not stressed out during the day of my wedding. I would like to thank Gloria and Aeri for their hard work as well. They always respond to emails and calls promptly. I definitely recommend this venue for weddings because of how beautiful it is, helpfulness of the staff, and for the delicious food.

the Doubletree really went above and beyond to see that our special day was the most memorable day of our lives.
Gloria and her assistant took us every step of the way with excellent communication for everything we needed to know about, listened very carefully to our needs and delivered 100% as we wanted.
Even special requests that we made, she took care of it.
We got an amazing complimentary suite with the beautiful garden view.
Gloria really made our planning and wedding day stress free as she was so understanding and stayed very professional through out the whole process.
My guests were happy and loved the beautiful garden and the service they got from the staff.
Thank you to the doubletree for making our day the most memorable of our lives. We will definitely be back for more occasions.

When we decided we wanted an outdoor garden wedding, we didn't expect that we would actually find it quickly, and right in the heart of Los Angeles no less! Despite it being in Downtown, it didn't feel like so because of their lush garden and amazing waterfall which basically is the only thing you'll hear. Everyone were taking photos! Add to that their amazing food and great service (Thank you Aeri, Gloria and Rebecca!); they really worked with us so that we could get the perfect wedding and be treated as VIPs. They were so accommodating that they even let us borrow 1 additional room, in addition to the 1 that is already complementary in our package. So we basically had a bride and groom suite! That made things so relaxing for us. Icing on the top is the cost as it is relatively cheap compared to the others we looked at, also considering how much we were getting. So glad we found this venue.

I had my dream wedding at the Doubletree!! What can I say...this venue allowed outside catering because I wanted a traditional chinese banquet, the staff there are absolutely amazing people, they worked with my budget, they answered all my questions and concerns, they were in communication with me since day one leading up to my wedding day to make sure my special day was perfect! Rebecca, Gloria, and Aeri were so professional and wonderful to work with. I am not going to forgot the facilities crew who set up my ceremony and reception. Thank you for all that you do!!! My husband and I got married on 11/28/2017. We had our ceremony at our Catholic Church in downtown Los Angeles, and were in search of a reception location. I loved the idea of a whimsical garden, but given that our church was in downtown, we didn’t want to have our guests drive an hour to get to the reception venue. I was floored when I found the Double Tree. It had everything I wanted! A lush green garden with flowers, a waterfall, etc. Aeri helped us coordinate and assisted with accommodations. Food was fantastic, the staff is friendly and will go the extra mile to make every experience a great one! I couldn’t not be happier with the Kyoto Gardens, Thousand Cranes ballroom, and the Double Tree sweetheart Suite. Our wedding was perfect and beautiful beyond belief! Thank you Double Tree, Aeri, and Gloria!!

I just got married exactly 3 weeks ago from today! I feel truly lucky to find this venue. I set up an appointment with Mrs. Gloria, and as soon as I walked in to the venue, I fell in LOVE. I absolutely loved the kyoto garden and it was the ONE I was looking for! The garden and the waterfall was just so beautiful. the next day, me and my fiance (at that time) came together and we signed the contract. We still talk about how the garden was pretty and just perfect for us. Mrs. Gloria and Ms. Aeri were so helpful from the start to end. Every time I meet them, they are always smiling and welcoming. They were always supportive, made sure everything runs smooth. We had the ceremony at the Kyoto Garden and the reception in the Ball Crane Ballroom. The ballroom had amazing full view of the garden.
Oh and the food! We got so many compliments from our guests about the FOOD! We had prime rib and pan seared sea bass. The food was soooooo delicious! They have a good menu selection you can choose from. Everything was just wonderful. I am so delighted to find this venue and have Mrs. Gloria and Ms. Aeri as my coordinator. Just take a tour of the Kyoto Garden. You will love it too! I highly recommend this venue!

This venue was the perfect place for us to marry. The Kyoto garden is a beautiful place to have the ceremony and the thousand crane room was great for the reception. The food was very tasty. We loved working with Aeri, Gloria, Rebecca, Maria from Justice Tavern and the entire Double Tree staff. They went above and beyond their duty to help us with our wedding. We are so grateful to have worked with them especially on this important day in our lives. Thank you so much for taking care of us. God bless!

At first I was leaning towards not having our wedding at a hotel, but once we saw the Doubletree, I knew this was where I wanted to have my wedding. The Thousand Cranes Ballroom and the Kyoto Gardens made for an absolutely picturesque wedding that transported us away from the hustle and bustle of Downtown LA. Everyone was a delight to work with and was very accommodating to our needs. Gloria, Aeri, and Jenny did a great job of taking point on our wedding and making sure our vision got realized.
The wedding itself went off without a hitch! The food was excellent, a point which our guests very much agreed with since they ate/finished everything, high points being the shrimp tempura hor d'oeurves, sea bass entree, and the late night mini lobster rolls (but honestly, literally everything was delicious). I was highly impressed with the professionalism of the waitstaff and banquet managers I met with. The bar even bothered to find all the ingredients necessary for my favorite cocktail (a sidecar), even though those ingredients are not what you'd usually find at wedding bars. I'd highly recommend the Doubletree as a venue; I almost still can't believe how affordable everything was considering how awesomely the day went. If anything, the only thing I would have changed about my wedding day was to order even more hor d'ouerves and late night snacks; they were seriously that good. 10/10, would do again.

All-inclusive hotel for ceremony and reception. Had 120 guests with the ceremony in the upper garden at 5, cocktail hour in the lower garden at 6, and dinner reception in the Thousand Cranes ballroom at 7. Garden was beautifully manicured and you really couldn't tell that you were in the middle of downtown LA. Guests raved about how delicious the food was. Day went by smoothly and we really had no issues thanks to the attentive staff.
For the most part, everything is included in the packages which makes things really easy. Gloria and Aeri were really communicative throughout the process, and Rebecca did a great job answering questions the week of the wedding and helping us out the day of the ceremony. Would highly recommend venue if you are looking for a low-stress wedding.

My husband and I got married on Sept. 03, 2017. We both want a rooftop, city wedding. We were very lucky to have found this venue. We had a morning ceremony and lunch reception.
Our initial consultation and tour was with Gloria. During our consultation, we felt her sincerity to provide the perfect wedding for us. This is something we didn't feel when my husband and I visited other wedding venues and consultants.
During the entire process, we worked with Rebecca and Aeri. They were very accommodating, helpful, and reliable. We are very grateful for the entire catering team. From the food, venue, and to every single detail, their services were amazing.
We cannot thank you enough for making our dream wedding come true. :-)

We had a perfect wedding at DoubleTree DTLA! From our initial inquiry until our wedding day, the catering team at this hotel have been exemplary beyond words! When Ms. Rebecca Young gave us the venue tour and we saw the green garden, flowers, waterfall, rooftop views - we knew this venue was the one! Photos of the garden already look pretty online, but it’s even prettier in person! The Thousand Cranes Ballroom, where we had our reception, offers an entire wall with floor to ceiling windows that look out to the garden.
Ms. Gloria Guiles and Ms. Aeri Cho were our main points of contact during the ceremony and banquet planning process. They were very accommodating to the requests that we had including changes to the meals, working with our budget, and changes to the timeline. They were thorough with all the planning details, and were always available via phone or email for all of our questions, concerns, and emotional support. They truly cared about making the entire process as stress-free as possible for us.
The food was exceptional. We chose to have a three-option buffet dinner. Our guests are still raving about the delicious food - get the sea bass! The catering is very accommodating with requests. During our initial tasting, we felt some of the proteins, specifically the steak, were overcooked. Since they would be finishing in a chafing dish, we requested the steak be cooked slightly less. We also requested changes to the salads. They fulfilled all of our requests without hesitation.
The Kyoto Garden and Thousand Cranes Ballroom were the perfect size space for our wedding of 110 guests. Our out of town guests loved the convenience of having a wedding at a hotel because it eliminates the need for additional transportation arrangements. Guests also enjoyed the many restaurants and markets that are within walking distance from the hotel. We are so happy to have found this venue. Thank you Ms. Gloria, Ms. Aeri, and Ms. Rebecca for making our wedding so perfect!

We had our wedding at the double tree hotel and it turned out to be just as I wished to be Staff came to check on us whenever there was a transition and assisted us with a full support. Meals were served in a timely manner, which I loved, and many of my guest made a comment to me that the food was really good. The set up of garden ceremony looked beautiful. They were very flexible with meeting schedule and I loved how they even prepared us water table and also the complimentary valet parking for the rehearsal day. This venue is perfect for garden ceremony and indoor reception.

So Gloria Guiles and Aeri Cho over at the Double Tree Inn in Downtown Los Angeles had helped me and my wife plan our special day they were so wonderful and helpful to our special requests. Also they were so understanding when we had to change the date of our wedding from November 2017 to May 2017 due to unforeseen circumstances. The value of the venue of the Kyoto Garden in downtown LA was something that I am continuously grateful for as my wife and I were definitely trying to do everything on a budget. The double tree will be a continuous smile to my face whenever I pass it by in downtown LA.

We originally visited the DoubleTree Los Angeles as a venue for our wedding ceremony and reception. We fell in love with the Kyoto Garden and adjoining Thousand Cranes Room. However, it could not accommodate the size of our party. So we booked a different venue downtown for that. But then when we realized we needed a venue for our morning Tea Ceremony (a traditional part of the Chinese wedding that did not require as much room), we thought the Kyoto Garden was perfect for this! We worked with Gloria and Aeri to get everything set up, and they were professional and responsive throughout the entire process. We even booked the hotel as the place for all our out-of-town guests to stay, as the venue for the post-wedding Sunday brunch, and booked the Garden View Suites for ourselves (which provided a great backdrop for our "getting ready" pictures). All our guests raved about the beauty of the Kyoto Garden. Even though it was in downtown LA, the garden felt intimate and private. We could not have been happier with the ceremony there!

We couldn't have chosen a better venue to host our wedding. The ceremony was held outside in the Japanese gardens. It was completely private and had an enchanting feeling. After the ceremony we moved into the thousand cranes ballroom which overlooks the Japanese garden with floor-to-ceiling windows . The food was absolutely amazing the staff was extremely helpful and joyful . Not to mention the sales team who originally worked with us to organize the wedding. The staff and the hotel surpassed my expectations and our guest were surprised with the experience. I would highly recommend any event at the Doubletree.

We planned a 6 month engagement at the DoubleTree Hotel Downtown Los Angeles Kyoto Gardens and it went amazing! We had one of our first dates walking through the gardens so it made it sentimental to also get married there. Patrick and Aeri were our contacts, and they were thee best to work with. Having our sweetheart table on a sunny day in the middle of a rainy month with the water reflecting on the ceiling above us and the beautiful garden behind us was the dreamiest scenario that I could think to have on the biggest day of my life as a bride. The gardens were beautifully maintained and gorgeous, many compliments there as well! My pictures with the lush green garden popped so well with my bridesmaids colors of sangria and plum. We got compliments on the food... and the cookies of course! Our room for the evening (complimentary with Princess package) was a nice treat! They gave us an extra gift as well to celebrate! If I were to do it all over again, I'd choose DoubleTree Downtown again and again. Thanks to the staff that helped make it an amazing day for me, my friends and family. We highly recommend this venue to have for your wedding!

My fiance and I feel in love with the DoubleTree from the moment we met with Gloria, the catering manager. We felt so welcomed from start to finish. The staff at the DoubleTree was amazing accomodating our last minute changes, ordering my fiance's favorite burbon, exceeding our expectations. The Thousand Crane ballroom was perfect for our Japanese themed wedding with a breathtaking view of the garden. We had such a wonderful experience and will be sure to keep them in mind for our future events!

Gloria, the Hilton's catering manager, exhibited the perfect blend of therapist and wedding planner for a stressed-out bride with a very anxious mom. She and Aeri talked my fiance and through the many decisions we needed to make and assured us that everything would work out on our special day. We are indebted to her patience, emotional stability, grace under pressure and ability to make magic happen. I am so glad that we selected the Hilton Thousand Cranes room with its beautiful waterfall and gardens. Our guests really enjoyed the cocktail hour and delicious food, plus the amenities at the hotel (especially the cookies) added a very nice touch. Thank you for making our wedding day memorable for all the right reasons!

Working with Patrick was great from the moment we met with him while touring the venue up until the day of our wedding and beyond.
We looked at several different venues and kept going back to this Doubletree location. Their garden area is beautiful and everything we were envisioning for our wedding reception. We booked the Thousand Cranes Room for our reception. Beautiful area with the garden as our backdrop.
Patrick and Aeri were amazing from beginning to end helping us out with any questions we had. They were always responsive with questions and was very easy to work with. We nor any of our vendors had any issues with communication, set up, etc. All went great.
Hotel food is typically known to be awful, but not at this Doubletree. Our guests loved the food! From the appetizers during cocktail hour to dinner to their delicious and warm chocolate chip cookies. All amazing!!
Overall, we highly recommend the Doubletree DTLA as a wedding venue. Our wedding was amazing and everything we could have ever hoped for.

The Doubletree Kyoto Gardens is a beautiful rooftop garden perfect for any event, especially weddings! Everyone who attended our wedding loved the venue, and complimented the space, as well as the beautiful layout of the gardens.
Patrick Rafferty and Aeri Cho were wonderful wedding managers/coordinators. Our wedding would not have gone as smoothly if it were not for there promptness and expertise. I would highly recommend anyone getting married to go the Doubletree. They would be in good hands under Patrick and Aeri.

If you are looking for a convenient, practical and yet magical space to have your wedding, look no further than the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Downtown LA.
My fiancee and I looked all around town to see where we could host an intimate gathering of family and close friends for our Saturday morning civil ceremony. I had heard from industry colleagues that the Kyoto Rooftop Gardens in Little Tokyo was a great space.
We visited the gardens with Gloria Guiles and after she showed us the various packages that the hotel offers, we knew that we were in great hands with her and her staff. Thank you Gloria and Aeri Cho for all of your help with our special day.
Everything from the chairs and tables to the champagne toast, food and wine were all enjoyed by all of our guests on our wedding day. This place really delivers a great experience.
And if you choose to stop by and check out the venue, you always get some amazing cookies from Gloria!
Two thumbs up for the Kyoto Gardens!

This was such a great venue to have our wedding at, we couldn't have asked for more! The spot has a beautiful outdoor ceremony area and a great indoor reception area. The staff was really helpful in delivering what we wanted for our special day. Patrick did an amazing job communicating with us throughout the process and was easy to get in contact with. He answered all of our questions and went the extra mile to make sure that everything was perfect. The food was also amazing! We got the salmon, steak, and veggie lasagna for our guests and everyone had great things to say about all of the options. If we had to do it all over again we would definitely choose this place!

We had our wedding ceremony at the Kyoto gardens. This is a great location if you want to have an outdoor wedding in the middle of a big city. Everyone here are very professional and accommodating, always available when we had question or concern.

From the the start, Gloria and her staff were courteous, thoughtful and a pleasure to work with in planning our special event. The outdoor rooftop Kyoto Gardens for the ceremony was the spot we fell in love with from the beginning. The adjacent cocktail hour patio and the Thousand Cranes Ballroom for the reception overlooking the garden and waterfall was superb. Gloria and the staff were attentive and worked with us to assist in meeting all of the details we planned for the event.

I loved the Venue and my guests thought it was beautiful. I personally haven't gotten my pictures back but I can only guess they are going to come out wonderful. The catering team who helped us treated us so wonderfully and worked with us over everything they could.

(Formerly the Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens) I loved their service and the food! All my guests had nothing but positive remarks about the food. The meat was tender and the seafood fresh. The meals turned out just as it did at the time of the tasting.

I am honestly a little conflicted on what rating to give this hotel. I had my wedding here a couple of months back and don't know what to think. It took me a few months to review the hotel to give myself a little perspective. With that...here goes:
While the wedding ceremony and most of the reception were great (will discuss later), the service for the hotel was hit or miss. I booked my wedding a year in advance in the summer of 2011 when it was still the Kyoto Grand and Gardens. During that time, the catering personnel I dealt with was helpful and accommodating. As the year progressed, this hotel contact left for another hotel and the hotel was bought by DoubleTree. The new contact I dealt with tried, but was not aware of any of the arrangements that I had made with her predecessor. My husband and I had to reiterate everything with her, and she was slow to respond when we had concerns.
About a week before our wedding, I discovered that the hotel contact I had been dealing with would NOT be there for the wedding and that yet another person was going to be running it. Given how the last hotel personnel transition I had dealt with previously, I was a little concerned. Luckily she was very knowledgeable and seemed to be on top of everything. Unfortunately, she left sometime during the course of the wedding and we had to deal with others later on...
Now onto the reception, my husband and I witnessed some upsetting incidents involving our bartender which I will not talk about. When my husband discussed it with the person in charge (yet another person), this person was very UNaccommodating (slow to respond and would not take responsibility) and instead started arguing with my husband. For an hour. On our wedding. While I sat in the foyer with my family. Unbelievable.
We had to deal with our 3rd contact person the weekday following the wedding, so the whole debacle ruined not only my wedding, but the weekend following.

Overall our expierience with the kyoto grand hotel was good. They were the only vendor on our list willing to work with us on the price so that was amazing! Shalom was very accomodating along the way so that was helpful as well. The craziness started the month of the wedding. At our tasting months prior we set up our rehearsal for the thursday before our wedding. Apparantly this information had been forgotten and we had to have our rehearsal in a different area other than the garden which led to a bit of confusion on the day of since we didn't get to rehearse in our space. We also chose this venue because of the gorgeous thousand cranes room .... which is now another empty banquet room so that was dissapointing. I can't stress enough how important it is to get things in writing. We dealt with two coordinators on the hotels end. The first one had offered us one rate for parking. When we later asked the second she said she would honor his rate even though we didn't have it in writing. Come to the month of and of course there is no recollection of this information. It would have also been nice to know that they charge $15 per lantern before a couple weeks before the wedding to hang them up. So as far as the venue is concerned it's good but a bit of confusion and lack of communication during the double tree transition. As far as the hotel staff is concerned I would suggest having your guest find rooms elsewhere. The staff took two hours to bring up our carts with our luggage and when we called down they kept telling us it would be on it's way. My mother got yelled at for trying to locate the ice machine since there was not one on her floor, and our rooms had no trash cans or ironing board and they never changed our towels. When we asked housekeeping for just one trash can we informed our room didn't come with one. Have you ever heard anything so absurd? They also broke our cake topper and didn't say anything. It just magically appeared broken in our room afterwards. The site is beautiful and we recieved so many compliments. That's the good with the bad. Take the info for what it's worth

We got married on the 15th of October, 2011. Thanks to Li-Ling the event manager, we were able to have an amazing wedding at Kyoto Grand. She even helped us upgrade our room to the Presidential Suite, which was an added bonus. We are still getting compliments on how amazing the venue was :)

My ceremony was in the beautiful rooftop Japanese Garden. It was the perfect place because it was so serene and didn't feel like we were in the middle of downtown LA. Our reception was in the grand ballroom, we had 200 people and it was just right. Since we had Persian food we chose the hotel's outside catering package which was very reasonable. It included everything we needed to make our wedding a success. The staff was great in serving the guests and helping our vendors. Everything was perfect from the beginning til the very end.

The location is beautiful. Throughout the wedding people were telling us how nice the venue was. The selection of food was great, from the hors d'oeuvres to the sushi bar. The bar service was good as well. The great part of their package is that they included a suite for the night, and a room for the groom and groomsmen to hang out in, which was a bar, so that was pretty fun for the guys. Now for the bad. When we went to do a walk through at the venue about a week before, there was construction in front of the hotel. It was an eye sore. When we asked whether or not it would be done by the wedding, no one could give us a straight answer. Come the day of the wedding, it was not done yet, there was caution tape all over the front of the hotel. Thank goodness we didn't pay for valet, so our guests did self parking and entered the hotel from the elevator and did not see the front. Next, we had the venue until 3. Around 2:15, people from the next wedding started walking around our wedding, walking through our space, not quite setting up yet, but walking around looking at where they were going to set things up. That was not cool, not cool at all. If not for those two things, our rating would be nearly 5's across the board. At the end of the day though, this place is still a pretty good value for how nice of a venue it is.

We will never forget how the Kyoto Grand partnered with us to help our vision for my daughter's wedding become a reality. Every department of the hotel came into play; catering, gardening, housekeeping, engineering...each person delivered an A+++ performance to enhance the wedding. The ceremony itself faces enormous trees while guests sit stream & waterfall-filled gardens, and then we had our pre-reception cocktails and hors d'ouvres in the adjoining Room of A Thousand Cranes (a serene glass-walled venue that is worth visiting if you are in the area!) . The food was perfection, so yummy that people are still talking about how good it was, and there was more than enough. The evening in the garden glowed and i"ll never forget the experience of seeing all our lanterns bouncing and providing a "ceiling" against the backdrop of trees, and sighting the interesting and beautiful lighted roof lines over the dance floor that. In addition to the magic of the setting, the bridal dressing suite was appointed to the max, the rooms we all stayed in the night before were so comfortable that people want those beds (!), Photos cannot do this garden enough justice; and it really comes alive during the affair! Li-Ling helped us to stay right on or under budget, and answered every question with grace and expertise. Our family and our beautiful bride will always be grateful to her and the entire organization.

Overall very happy with the venue and pictures came out beautiful. Love the rooftop garden and Japanese gardens, such a hidden gem in the middle of downtown Los Angeles. Was scouring LA for a Japanese garden and this was the largest and best location. Great location to take pictures around downtown LA and surrounded by great restaurants. We had ~140 guests that fit comfortably, any more and it would be a tight fit.
The ceremony went smoothly and the staff was helpful.
Only complaint was our weekend was extremely busy. There were 4 weddings on the weekend we got married so scheduling the rehearsal was hard and made for a tight schedule. We did pick a popular weekend so that was expected.
I would highly recommend this as a nice outdoor venue!

When we first checked out the place we thought the venue looked great, the garden for the ceremony was beautiful and the reception hall was nice and the perfect size for our 250 guest wedding. Discussing terms went very well, and they were very informative and helpful in planning. During the rest of our planning there were times where voicemails were not returned but when we did speak with someone they were always helpful. During the wedding everything looked great and the staff was friendly, but my coordinator did most of the communicating with them. All I can really say is that we feel like we got good value, the staff was helpful and kind, the food was great, and the place beautiful.

The Kyoto Grand is a hidden gem. I've coordinated several weddings here and simply love this oasis in the middle of Downtown Los Angeles. The staff is great to work with; they're very accommodating and work very hard to not only meet the requests of their clients, but the vendors as well.
The Japanese Garden is very beautiful for an intimate wedding. If you're looking for a venue to host a very intimate wedding and dinner I'd recommend this venue hands down.

Kyoto Grand was the perfect wedding venue for us. We wanted an outdoor ceremony and preferred to be at the same location for both the ceremony and the reception.
The rooftop garden provided the perfect outdoor garden ceremony with a gorgeous downtown LA backdrop. We seated 160 guests on the upper garden no problem.
The ballroom size and location was ideal. It was an intimate location with a wedding bar located right outside of the ballroom. There was also plenty of space for our photobooth.
Overall, we are VERY PLEASED with the Kyoto Grand..and their charges are more than reasonable
P.S. We had the Duet Entree for our guests and everyone said that their food was delicious!!
