So I hosted my wedding block here. I spoke through email and on the phone with...someone, I really don't remember his name, however he was patient with me and set everything up. I requested 2 rooms that were the oversized king rooms. My family had 0 problem setting anything up. They all checked in early though which put them at different floors than me which was a bummer but not a deal breaker. Valet was always on point and responsive. They were truly awesome. Front desk, upon my check-in the girl kind of did not explain slow enough to me that the charge was the total price plus the downpayment of $50 a night, I figured it was just the $50 a night going onto my card, because she said i could change it to another card later. This I think was miscommunication on both of our parts because I was in a rush to check-in. Either way, it was fixed. but she kept asking me which room I wanted, but when booking the hotel block I specifically NEEDED the oversize king, and needed fresh bedding and no feather pillows so I did not understand that part of it. It was really confusing and unnecessary. So I went upstairs to my room and the door wouldn't open, completely dead. I go back downstairs and let the man know and he walked up with me just incase it was me, and not the door. Maintenance was called and we waited for a bit. They came with a attitude asking about the other door (apparently i had 2 doors). So I walked around opening all the doors to see what they were and accidentally locked the working door. As I left, the maintenance worker HAD to tell me "um, you know you locked the only working door? why did you do that?" Seriously?! I'm late for my rehearsal dinner and you're going to scold me like a child? I did not like that at all. The bar tender wasn't as pleasant either. But my family was VERY excited to be there but kept making jokes about how tiny the chicken wings were (they were comically small for the price) so, maybe she overheard and took offense. I'm unsure. However, the day and morning of my wedding was amazing. Went to the little Starbucks area and the girl was SO nice. Told me I needed to eat something for the big day, talked to me about it and everything. Seriously, so sweet. Then all my vendors parked with no problems, and got room keys so I did not have to escort them up and down the elevator. THAT truly was amazing. When we got back from our wedding the desk staff clapped for us. It was honestly so special to me and that touch was nice. THEN in our room was a champagne bottle with 2 glasses and a card signed by staff. 10/10. That was exactly why we picked this hotel, luxury, being treated kindly.
My view was gorgeous. The bed was clean and comfortable, the shower was nice and hot with amazing water pressure. The furniture was new and nice looking. Just so so worth the money. I just stayed at another hotel for our small honeymoon before our big one and it was TERRIBLE. This proves the only place I will stay from now on especially for our real honeymoon next year will be doubletree hotels. Thank you so much for everything and providing a top of the line experience for us.
The Doubletree is in an ideal location for all of our wedding weekend activities, with the wedding in College Park, wedding luncheon in Winter Park, Reception at The Acre. We had over 70 out of town guests staying there. We also held a Sunday Recovery Brunch at the Doubletree. Staff was helpful, accommodating & flexible. It worked for us!
The DoubleTree has the whole package! The rooms for my guests were nice and clean, check in was a breeze, and the market saved the day for me multiple times! My suite for my wedding had just enough space for me and my bridesmaids to get ready, and the view of downtown was awesome from the pool deck!
If you're looking for a stunning ballroom, for my ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, the ballroom was truly gorgeous. We loved the light fixtures and the decor that was already in the room helped making decorating that much easier.
The food from the in house catering team was amazing too! The steak and chicken dinners came out beautifully cooked and seasoned and all the drinks served really helped round out the night! My compliments to the Chef!
If I had to put one specific deciding factor on this whole venue, the best part was Kelsey, our coordinator. Seriously hands down the most wonderful person to work with for all your wedding needs. She helped out in any way possible to make our wedding successful, and my husband and I are eternally grateful! I've never worked with someone who was so thoughtful and honest and professional. Thank you Kelsey!
The Doubletree was a great venue. They had everything we needed, so we did not need to bring in outside vendors, which was very important for me when picking a venue. The ballrooms were beautiful, even before set up. Kelsey, the event manager, was amazing to work with. Quick to respond to any and all questions, and so kind. The food was delicious, and all the hotel staff were very nice and accomodating.
Kelsey was extemely helpful as the event planner. Coordinated with the Father of the Bride very well, was extremely responsive to questions, provided that personal touch needed during a wedding. The venue itself worked out very well in that we had all parts
Kelsey was absolutely amazing! She walked with us from beginning to end and was very flexible to meet our needs. We were beyond pleased with everything for our wedding reception.
Beautiful venue! We took our wedding photos in the hallway in front of the mirrors and the pics came out great. The staff was very helpful during our special, even the front desk staffed helped us in getting our room situated on our busy, stressful yet beautiful day. Food was great and our guest kept telling us how beautiful the venue looked.
Thanks Doubletree Smooches😘
We chose this hotel for our wedding party and family to stay as well as to have an afterparty since our wedding was scheduled to end early. On our first visit the staff was extremely accommodating and were happy to answer all of our questions. Kelsey Balmer was our point of contact for our room rental for the afterparty and she went above and beyond the call of duty. She answered emails almost immediately and was extremely helpful. There were multiple events going on in the hotel during our wedding weekend which caused the hotel to be fully booked yet the staff handled our requests flawlessly. Highly recommend this hotel for any events. You will not be disappointed.
I had my wedding at the Doubletree by Hilton Downtown Orlando and it was better then I could have ever imagined! Kelsey went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly and was always there for any question or concern I had. The employees who helped set up, worked the event, front desk employees and anyone else who participated in helping my wedding were exceptional. I will recommend this location always and for any event, big or small.
Kelsey Balmer was our coordinator...She was on point. Our special day was beyond our expectations. Thank you to the entire staff for our day a superb one.
The DoubleTree in Downtown Orlando was an amazing hotel! We chose the this hotel since it was very close to St. James and had a ballroom that could fit us. The newly renovated hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the chandeliers are especially what sold me for their ballroom! Kelsey was such a pleasure to work with, she was very responsive and on top of every little detail. We had a lot of out of town guests and the DoubleTree took great care of them! Everyone from the front desk to the restaurant to the catering staff was very pleasant to work with and I would highly recommend this venue for your wedding! On the day of our wedding Kelsey and her team did an amazing job and everything went smoothly. The food was great, the service was great, the entire experience was great! Thank you DoubleTree & Kelsey!
We chose The DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando Downtown for our reception venue and guest block because we had such a large wedding. We invited 500, and needed to fit at least 380, which they were able to accommodate. There were few other venues in Orlando that were large enough. Additionally, we really liked the location and versatility of the space. We were able to turn the ballroom into a beautiful space for our Indian reception, and it was really convenient to have our guests stay at the hotel. Kelsey, the event coordinator, is wonderful to work with. She is really kind, patient, and flexible! The hotel is renovated and we were pleased with the quality of the venue. This is a great option if you have a larger wedding! Thanks to the DoubleTree for help making our day so special :)
We had our wedding at the Doubletree by Hilton Downtown on Jan 21, 2017. Initially I was not looking for my wedding venue to be at a hotel, but since we were getting married at St. James Cathedral I wanted a venue that was not too far from the church. After other locations we considered were booked on the dates we were considering, at my fiancée's request I decided to take a look at the Doubletree and I am thankful I did. It was amazing, Kelsey Balmer, the coordinator at the Doubletree was so easy to work with, she helped us find outside affordable vendors for other rentals and florist. She always responded to all my inquiries and for any request the answer was almost always "yes I'm sure we can do that". I did not have a wedding planner or day of coordinator so Kelsey went out of her way and set up my place cards and guestbook when I was not able to find someone to do it as everyone was going to be at the church at my ceremony. We had a plated dinner. The food was amazing, all the guest commented about how great the food was from the appetizers to the main entree. The servers were great as well as the bartender. We had a specialty cocktail drink created by the hotel's bartender and everyone loved it. I can not say enough good things about the staff and Kelsey. They say everything happens for a reason and had the other venues not been booked I don't think we would have ever had the wedding at the Doubletree Downtown Orlando but am so thankful that we did because it was such an amazing day and everything turned out beautifully.
I stayed 2 nights at this hotel because it was the closest toe the wedding venue. Every time I called, or dropped by before the wedding, the staff was incredibly nice! I have never had a hotel experience where every single person I encounter is friendly AND helpful. Even with about 4 other weddings happening the same weekend as mine, they were able to accommodate my request to be on the same floor as my family. Even though I live 10 minutes away, I would stay at this hotel again.
The DoubleTree in Orlando at Lake Ivanhoe helped us host the wedding of our dreams. Clinton was amazing to work with and he was very responsive and flexible. He helped us keep our costs in check while providing us all the luxury. The staff was great during the event and the Chef was great. He even came up to us during the reception to make sure everything was satisfactory. They all helped us have the best night. Highly recommend this venue. All my guest were pleased as well.
Our experience at The Double Tree was what we needed. The location was ideal, the hotel had recently been renovated so it was very nice, and most of the staff was helpful. We had some trouble with guests booking their rooms, some trouble with our bill at the end of our stay, and what seemed like a lot of little annoying things that popped up which shouldn't have. That said, it was a good stay overall and we were satisfied.
We had some issues with DBT before we received the customer service that we deserved. At the beginning when my FI and I decided to have our wedding at DBT we were ecstatic. We signed our contract with Mr Tom in the middle of remodeling. There was a toilet in the ceremony location, no flooring, no paint on the walls and we had to take a back elevator to actually get to the location of the ceremony and wedding. We were excited by our decision because we saw the vision and we knew that Tom would take care of us.
Well, as time went on, my excitement turned into stress, worrying and tears. Tom moved on and I ended up with a coordinator who appeared to care, but really didn't. Then 4 months before our wedding she disappeared and I was left back at square one. Needless to say, I had to meet with someone else and tell them what was said and agreed upon.
Becky was an angel sent to make our dream come true! I seriously considered trying to find a different location 4 months before our wedding was to take place; however, Becky came along and reassured me that she would make sure that our wedding was amazing and she did just that!
I won't say not to have your wedding at DBT because it's a gorgeous venue. What I will say is if you do decide to have your wedding there that you hire an outside wedding planner so that if another situation like ours were to happen, at least you'll have someone that will be able to rectify the situation.
After all is said and done, I'm happy with our decision and our wedding turned our fabulous! No wedding is perfect and at the end of the day my FI was still standing at the end of the aisle :)
This place was an easy choice because of both its location and the great look if the hotel. Who doesn't want a hotel right downtown with all the amenities right, well most would not have wanted the weekend I got. This hotel has a beautiful lobby bar area which unknown to me until I walked in Thursday night was all closed. They did try to accommodate us by putting a fake bar in the restaurant but the whole feel of the entire hotel was thrown off by this. With over 70% of our guests coming in from p out of town the accommodations were a big selling point. They ended up serving the wrong food at our reception, again just not a hotel that was dotting i's and crossing t's. At no point did I feel like they appreciated my business it's was they treated me as if they were doing me a favor by allowing me to have my reception. Actual catering staff during the reception (servers and banquet bartenders) did a great job.
We had a big issue with the reservations. After filling 15 rooms, they wouldn’t open up another block of rooms despite their promising that they would. Thankfully we had an email saying as much, but they made us make all the remaining reservations within 6 hours that same day including providing credit card numbers, nights of stay, etc with no changes allowed to the reservations. It was a massive pain and stressor but thankfully, it was the only negative part of the whole planning process.
The hotel was sufficiently nice and somewhat convenient of a location- close to wedding (Leu Gardens) but not walking distance to anything interesting. The train goes right by the hotel so if you are a light sleeper, you will have a hard time there.
Also, security kept bothering us during the after party (we booked a parlor suite for this). Once we told them that we had about 30 rooms and we were in a parlor suite- meant for parties- they left us alone.
If you have a choice, go with another hotel.
This was a great place to book a room block. It was convenient to restaurants and offered shuttle service to nearby sites. The staff is friendly and you can't beat the warm chocolate chip cookies! I think we got a great rate for our guests with all the amenities offered (on-site restaurants, gym, pool, bar). My only con is the parking fees. There is valet, of course, but self-parking is also a fee. There is limited free street parking, but I know people feel more secure about their car being in the garage.
We signed our contract a year before our actual wedding date so the experience with the DoubleTree started out a bit rocky. During the year they switched management and name from 'The Sonesta' to'The DoubleTree By Hilton Orlando Downtown' and so we had to deal with a few different representatives. However, instead of making the process complicated, they worked with my husband and I to ensure a smooth transition. (The general manager even met with us to assure us that our previous contract would be honored.) We had the pleasure of working with Tom who quickly returned phone calls and stopped at no end to ensure all our wished were granted and all our concerns were addressed.
Of course food is one of the most important things! The chef there is amazing and extremely flexible. He's even willing to take your favorite family recipes and any other suggestions to make sure your food is up to par. The waiters are also very good and always brought our food out inna timely manner. There was no awkward waiting and no table had to wait to get served while the others ate.
I ordered all my linens for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception from the hotel. They were great quality, the correct color shades and just absolutely beautiful. If you have a bison, just explain it to Tom or whichever representative you're working with and they'll make sure your event is beautiful.
One note of caution is that you have to stay on top of your demands. A great amount of detail goes into your event to to ensure that nothing gets left get everything in writing, not just word of mouth!
Although this hotel has changed names several times over the last few years - I feel as though they got it right this time. We were very pleased with the wedding set up, food and the service. We got a great deal for the wedding and the hotel bent over backwards to make sure everything was taken care of.
My only complaint is that with the name changes some of the renovations promised were not completed by my wedding date.
