We had a certain number of rooms blocked, and a cutoff date before those rooms were released to the public. The rooms were set to be released at 12 am on the last day of the booking period for the block. We had a couple of people who wanted to book the hotel on the last day and when they tried to do so, they found out that our rooms had been released before the 12 am cutoff time!
Fortunately, after emailing the sales manager, we were able to book rooms for these guests, but I find it a little unfair that they released our rooms before they were supposed to.
Room quality was nice, nothing spectacular, but they were clean and comfortable. No special touches for the bride and groom, but that was no big deal either, just a note for other brides.
For my wedding I had flowered delivered to the hotel, I called at 1pm asking if they had arrived and if they could be put in the refrigerator. When I arrived at the hotel at 6pm my flowers never were put into the refrigerator. We also were to have champaine and chocolate delivered on my wedding night and they delivered it the wrong night. As well as the towels in the room were not clean.
For our guests this was a great hotel - they loved the access to Club Sport, used the hotel shuttle to attend a local pre-wedding event, facilitated getting goodie bags to guests as they arrived, and generally provided solid service. And for me, they were easy to work with on the hotel block and were able to provide a great price to my guests. I would suggest them to other brides without hesitation!
The Hilton in Pleasanton was my one disappointment in my whole wedding planning process. We originally chose to reserve a block of rooms for our guests at the Hilton because we got great service from the two people we had dealt with there. Later on when I was trying to get some questions answered and was having difficulty getting a response, I learned that both of the people who gave us great service no longer worked there. After being passed around a little bit, I was finally assigned to one sales person who was completely unimpressive. Reservations were being totally messed up and our guests were being told there were no longer rooms available in the block, which wasn't true. When I would call to try to correct this it was like pulling teeth to get any kind of response. Seeing how much business we were bringing them, this was just unbelievable to me. This ended up being a huge headache for me in the last month or so leading up to the wedding. I ended up spending a huge amount of time that I didn't have trying to make things right. I would have rated them lower due to this treatment, but we did get good service from many of the people who served us face-to-face once we were at the hotel for the weekend of the wedding.
We had an early afternoon reception, but the Hilton let us reserve the ballroom for the entire day which made set up before the ceremony very easy! My one complaint was that they did not have ready serving utensils for the cake cutting, which created a somewhat awkward delay.
