I did my wedding at the embassy suites 3 weeks ago and I would like to share my experience with both pros and cons.
Let’s start with the pros:
1. All staff members were really nice and went out of their way to make you feel comfortable and accommodated.
2. The views were absolutely stunning, and the ceremony spot was gorgeous.
3. The room they gave to the bride and groom was fantastic, really spacious, beautiful view, and had great light which helped the makeup artists and hair stylists
4. The food was really good, the majority of our guests liked it and said the food was really tasty.
5. We had a lot of guests with diet restrictions and the hotel was amazing in taking care of all the food restrictions we asked for.
A lot of cons happened, but unfortunately The Knot doesn't let me write all of them so here is the most unfortunate ones:
1 . We wish someone had told us when we booked our wedding (1 year ago) that the hotel would be in construction for renovations during our wedding week. When we arrived at the Embassy Suites 2 days before the wedding the lobby was a mess (but not on our wedding day though) and on our wedding day when I was getting ready with the girls and the moms, the fire alarm went off so myself and all of the hotel guests had to evacuate. Therefore, I had to leave my room in the middle of my hair getting done and in the middle of my Mother-in-law's makeup.
I literally had to leave the hotel with my slippers and robe and hair half done!! It was a false alarm caused by the construction.
2. We planned everything from distance, so we didn’t get to see the ballroom in person until we did the tasting. The ballroom was really disappointing, it’s really nothing special, kind of old (hopefully it will be part of their renovation project) and we had a few complaints from the guests with respiratory problems that the carpet, when we were dancing, was causing a lot of dust in the air, and causing them to cough. The embassy suites will not provide anything to make the ballroom more attractive, if you want any type of better lighting or decoration to make it look nicer, it will need to come out of your pocket. The only decorating they will provide is the table centerpieces. I tried to ask for a white curtain or something to put on the back of our table… because the wedding coordinator will put your table in front of an exit door (which doesn’t look good obviously) and they were asking us $600 for it.
3. The one that made me the most upset = very few people HAD CHAMPAGNE FOR OUR TOASTS, including myself and my husband. The servers just started to serve champagne on our 3rd speech!!! Before the 3rd speech no one had champagne to toast with! With this, the bar seemed like a mess and even though I didn’t see it, a few guests said that the bartenders accidentally broke a lot of bottles of alcohol (like vodka, gin, etc..) in the middle of the room.
4. They won’t organize the decorations exactly how you ask and
they let my welcome sign blow away with the wind before I walk down the aisle.
5. I had so many complaints from the guests about how the ceremony was set up. I had 100 guests and they set up the chairs so close to each other, people were complaining that they couldn’t move or feel comfortable in their seats. Also, they put the violinist so close to the guests that everyone on the right side of the ceremony was complaining about how noisy it was. Also, our wedding party had no space to be next to us.
etc...
Lucia and Hope were wonderful to work with! We began planning our wedding and early 2020, right before COVID shut everything down. This vendor was able to provide us with all of the information we needed remotely, which was incredible given that we had just been thrust into this new environment. They were friendly, gracious, and had a sense of humor about the whole thing. We live out of state, so it was a must! We didn’t even get to see the wedding venue or reception space until three days before the wedding itself. Lucia met with us several times in person once we arrived, and everything was incredible. On the day of our wedding, there was a torrential down pour that prevented us from being able to get married on the boardwalk, as planned. Lucio was in contact with my fiancé and I the entire time, keeping us posted on how things were going. Despite having to get married indoors, everything was beautiful and perfect. She even helped us think of things that we had not considered, and helped set everything up and ensure everyone was fed. She even located our missing wedding cake! I highly, highly recommend this venue.
Wedding date - April 6, 2019
Janeth Alvarez and the entire staff were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Very friendly, professional, organized, accommodating, and responded timely. We met several times to discuss the details. Janeth listened to what we wanted and all the details were exactly as planned. The wedding packages were affordable and included many upgrades. Our ceremony was beautiful and romantic overlooking the ocean. Service and food were exceptional! My guests had an phenomenal time. Out of town guests that stayed at the property were very pleased with the large suites. Perfect size for me and my wedding party to get ready. My fiancé and I waited 18 years to get married and could’ve picked a better place to have our wedding and reception.
I had my wedding at the hotel in Deerfield Beach, FL this past weekend and I can’t begin to tell you how disappointed I am in how the whole process was. I went through 3 yes, 3 different managers in 6 months. Started with Jordana then went to Alina and ended with Janeth. When I signed my contract I had a day of coordinater that would be assisting me throughout the process which is why I selected this hotel since I’m in Texas. Then I get an email 6 months later saying that they will no longer honor that part of my package anymore. Now I’m beyond stressed and having to come up with another $1200 to hire a coordinator. When the new catering manager started she did make sure that things worked as best they could and she did that well. The wedding day amenity that I was supposed to receive was a bottle of champagne, that would have been great except her and I clearly discussed the fact that I wasn’t staying in that hotel 2 weeks prior to the event she even called me to double check why I canceled my reservations. When I called the day after the wedding to ask about what the amenity was she said you don’t get it in your room??!!! Really??? The reason I canceled my reservations was I was and am still so devastated on how much worry and stress went into something that should have been a wonderful experience for us. But I was constantly worried something was going to be overlooked or swept under the rug. I hope that you all can make the appropriate changes to this facility so no other brides spend their wedding worried about the hotel leaving them hanging. The reviews are correct on every wedding website... not a good choice. Stay clear of this one!
Kintana
I dont know where to start. This venue is very pretty, with a great view of the beach and somewhat secluded, which is nice if you dont want everyone watching your wedding. When I booked this venue in 2016, I was very excited as the Catering manager, Claire, was so helpful with everything I needed. She told me she would be there every step of the way to help with decor, ceremony placement, set up and breakdown. I felt very confident in the venue I chose. I felt I didn't need a Wedding planner or day of coordinator because Claire was so involved. Unfortunately, everything started to go down hill when Claire quit Embassy Suites to move north. With no notice, I was transferred over to Jordana with only 3 months before the wedding. Jordana had been there for a little while, but did the smaller weddings. I was a little nervous, as I had everything set in stone with Claire and we were both on the same page. I finally met with Jordana and she was very nice and assured me that everything would be the same. 2 weeks before the wedding, I received an email that Jordana was leaving Embassy Suites for a better opportunity and they wouldn't have a new CM until one week before my wedding! TALK ABOUT FREAKOUT. I got in contact with the Event manager, Alina, and she tried to assure me that everything would be fine. Finally, I got in contact with the new Catering manager, Janeth( Seasoned Senior wedding planner) or so they said. She was nice to speak with on the phone. There was not enough time to meet in person. She didn't know much about the hotel and the rules and requirements, as well as not so open to helping with certain things Claire had offered to help with. It made me very nervous, that I ended up hiring a family friend to be my day of Coordinator to make sure everything was how I wanted it. The day of the wedding, Janeth was no where to be found. Did not help with set up, decor, or ceremony, like it said in my contract. They stated that they make a weather call 2 hours prior to the wedding. My wedding was at 5pm and she tried to bring everything in at 1pm. What!? It's Florida, the weather changes every 10 minutes! She was very rude to my day of coordinator and did not put our needs first. The hotel was suppose to provide cake cutting set, never received one, and I had to cut my cake with a BUTTER KNIFE LOL. The wait staff and bartender were awesome. The food was VERY GOOD. Thank god for that. Overall the wedding day was great due to my other vendors. Thank god for my day of coordinator to save the day!
After the wedding, I did have Embassy Suites reach out and apologize for everything. They sent us an apology certificate to come back and visit the hotel on them. That was a nice gesture to try to make up for all the problems that happened the day of. Good luck.
Embassy Review
Planning began for my August 2017 wedding in October 2016. After researching and tours at various venues we decided on this location. The location is perfect for out of towners and 'staycationers', the price is right for a mid range budget. The Embassy is about a half mile from the main strip in Deerfield Beach. We connected with Claire who was mentioned in many positive reviews. She was able to accommodate our deposit schedule; she was very easy to work with her.
Two weeks prior to the wedding I learned that Claire was leaving and Jordana would be taking over. Jordana was able to pull through, some agreements between Claire and I were not in writing but Jordana made sure that the hotel did right by me and my guests. Every request; from liquor preferences to valet, was agreed and delivered as promised. The most stressful and jam packed time for a wedding is the week before; Jordana had a big task. As we approached the date, I learned that a different person would be handling the weekend festivities; my first thought was YIKES. Enter Natalie, a put together, calm and professional woman. Natalie is without a doubt the best person I could have wished for to coordinate my wedding. She was polite, knowledgeable, friendly, guest and detail oriented. Let me not forget the mention the set up she coordinated with our own wedding decor that had been dropped off 3 days prior to the wedding. In addition to setting up my items, she also had everything carefully boxed up after the wedding and moved to an adjacent room to be stored securely, allowing family to not stress over cleaning up. She went so far as to set up the adjacent room with my flowers so we could enjoy them the next morning during a private breakfast with overnight guests. I could go on and on. Every request was met with a smile, she even conducted our rehearsal dinner and checked in with us during brunch the next day. Without our knowledge, and to the happy surprise of family that had been given the task of taking gifts and cards to our room after the reception, Natalie had EVERYTHING delivered to our room and set up with wine and chocolate covered strawberries. TALK ABOUT DETAIL!
The staff was gracious, polite, and seemed truly happy to be there; it makes a big impact. All 98 ordered meals were served without delay, hot, and delicious. Even better tasting than our complimentary tasting that was conducted a month prior. The vegetables, wow, normally wedding veggies are awful; this chef knows what he is doing and it shows. Vegetarian, Mahi, Chicken you name it I'm certain they can handle it. The cake company included in the package prepared a beautiful and tasty 3 layer cake. My guests were over the moon with options like Key Lime and Orange. It was moist and delivered on time.
I could not have made a better choice in choosing this venue. Renting the public dock through the city was a breeze, coordinating with BeachRides was an added surprise for my guests. I strongly suggest that you take a look at this venue and all it has to offer. I am over the moon at my experience.
The original WC had a family emergency and handed over the duties to Jordana, who dropped the ball on multiple occasions. She couldn’t account for her lack of communication. She apologized for not having her phone when we tried to reach call, then said she wouldn’t be available by phone all day because she didn't have pockets. We’d have to leave a message for her, which negates having a coordinator for immediate needs. I wasn’t impressed with the rooms. They were a good size but they weren’t cleaned to the expectation you would have for the price you pay. They smelled old and musty. The wait staff was pleasant. They moved with speed (sometimes too much). They seemed flustered, dropping trays of food and silverware, but they never broke a smile. I got up briefly after salad and when I came back I noticed everyone at my table had food except for me. They remedied it quickly, and apologetically. I was glad I overheard my aunt talking about a breakfast they scheduled for the morning. No one told the guests at check in. My aunt then had to take 30 precious minutes away from her daughter’s reception to make a list of people that needed to be contacted about this over site. At the end of the evening they did a sparkler send off. I don’t know who oversaw this (since Jordana took off after dinner), but it wasn’t executed the way it should have been. Safety went to the way side. They lit the sparklers and didn’t have a bucket of sand or water for them to be extinguished. We sat around holding the hot wires, while others tucked them into a nearby wastebasket. Some people started to walk into the hotel carrying the hot wires, and accidentally burned my 10 yr old niece. It seemed that as the day unfolded so did the lack of communication and attention to detail. Thankfully we had a great team of family and friends that covered the tracks and paved new ways for success to pull off a stunning wedding. Tragic that my aunt had to pay so much money for mediocre service.
Perfect! We even got a complimentary ocean side room and they upgraded bride's parents to ocean view as well!
Wonderful
We chose Embassy Suites in Deerfield partly because of the Catering Director. She's Amazing!!! Any question/request we had she had an answer or was able to accommodate us. Very quick and knowledgeable responses when I would email with questions. Very flexible.
The Food was great. Service was great.
The weekend of our wedding, the staff was just awesome. From the valet to the front desk to the servers to the bartender to the housekeeping staff. All were just so nice and helpful.
Alicia and the function staff were on point! The 4 servers, the banquet manager, the House man and the bartender were just A+++++++
Our bartender, he knew how to pour the drinks.
I just can't say enough great things about this venue and the staff. The little details that they helped with, they kept my day as stress free as possible.
Embassy Suites Deerfield Beach was the perfect place to have my dream wedding come true right before my eyes! Alicia Watson is amazing and I recommend this location to everyone!
The venue is beautiful and the hotel is very nice with lots of things to do for guest nearby. The wedding coordinator is a little scatterbrained and requires a bit of follow up. The actual day of the event is run by the banquet manager and he is great! Everything ran very smoothly!
Truly enjoyed this venue for my wedding! Great staff, service and overall atmosphere. A+++
Thank you for being a part of our special day and making it the greatest experience!
Alicia, Claire, and Kristen are AMAZING. They were there to help me with everything and anything and were really truely nice. My rehearsal dinner was really nice and the food was great. The initial location where it was supposed to be held was under construction because it took longer than they expected. I was a little bit bummed by that, but they upgraded my room and gave open bar to all guests at my rehearsal dinner regardless of whether or not they were staying in the hotel that night. WORKS FOR ME! Great customer service. I was very pleased
Sadly, my fiancé and I were completely turned off by this venue due to poor customer service. During our meet and greet, we were left by the coordinator to attend to another guest. The valet left our keys lying on the valet station unattended for over 10 minutes as well. The ballroom was less than desirable as well. All in all, it was a bad experience.
We had a great wedding day! Things ran smoothly thanks to the excellent wedding coordinator at the hotel and all the guests enjoyed themselves!
My out of town guests stayed at this awesome beach front resort for the weekend! The guests all loved the full cooked-to-order breakfast every morning and the free cocktails each night! Many of my friends bunked up together since the rooms are so big with 2 bathrooms. The spa was great for those who wanted to be pampered and the main road by the pier with the restaurants can be walked to. It was the perfect choice for my guests!
It wasnt the first for either of us, but we really wanted a beach ceremony. The Wyndham made it perfect as we were ableto have our ceremony on the beach and the reception and dinner at the resort right across the street. It was a bonus that all of our out of town guests stayed there too. Talk about a one stop shop!. We had over 100 guests and the Royal Palm Ballroom was perfect. Mary Beth was awesome and helped us every step of the way. Allynthe banqet manager was also exceptional. Food was wonderful and the hotel staff really helped make it a wonderful experience. Mary Beth helped us find a great photographer too! I looked at several locations in South Florida and Jim and I really felt this was the best for what we wanted. It wasnt our first wedding, but it was for sure the last!
the location is phenomenal and the hotel was recently renevated so it all looks brand new...very beautiful! the food was good although like every other wedding i've ever been to it wasnt the best meal i've ever had. nevertheless the wait staff was extremely attentive and the bartender was very nice and moved fast(no need for 2 bartenders) i would recommend this venue to couples looking for a beachside wedding.;the parking is steep and the wedding specialist for the hotel made promises and then broke them so get everything in writing!
