One of the most important things that you need to know if you are going to marry an Armenian woman is how to dance Armenian. 90% of your wedding day will be dancing. That is a guarantee. Emma was able to take this tall awkward white boy and turn him into an Armenian dancing machine. This was in no way an easy task. After my first lesson, I felt like I just was not getting it, and even with how frustrated I was, Emma kept being encouraging. Emma took the time the next few lessons to find ways that I would understand the rhythm and the steps whether it was finding different music with similar beats that I knew or relating the steps to ones that I had already learned in my life. Emma never gave up on me and by the final lesson I was dancing around her studio having an absolute blast. The day of the wedding one of the things I was probably most nervous about was my dancing. I felt like I would forget the steps that I had learned and embarrass myself, and subsequently my wife. We made our way to the dance floor and I just started dancing in my "safe place"; something that Emma had taught me to do. I grew more comfortable and just started letting loose. I saw the surprise in many faces and though I was concerned I was messing up, I looked and my wife and saw her smiling and I no longer cared what people thought. Later as we were saying hi to family and friends, I met many of my wife's Armenian family that I had never met before. One of the first things they asked me was if I was Armenian. I let them know that I was not to which they replied, "We were sure you were Armenian. The way you dance is better than many Armenians we know." I was humbled. That was one of the best compliments I had heard all night. After we were done meeting everyone, my wife and I proceeded back to the dance floor where we spent most of the rest of the night. I know that there is no way that I could have "survived" my wedding without the help of Emma. She is an amazing teacher and truly is passionate about what she does. Emma cares about her clients and makes sure that you do not only learn what you came to her to learn, but also that you have a great time doing it. You cannot help but enjoy yourself while learning to dance with Emma as your teacher. I also know that Emma can teach anything and anyone. My wife and I went to a few of her dance workshops and learned other dance styles including Salsa. She taught those with the same passion and fun as she did teaching me to dance Armenian. Whether you are the bride or groom, parents of those getting married, the bridal party wanting to surprise those getting married with a dance, or just anyone, Emma can teach you want to learn. It can be a dance style or even a choreographed number. Emma is amazing at what she does and I know that every time I watch my wedding video, and see me dancing, I will remember the lessons I took to do what I did. If you want to have a great experience learning dance or a specific dance routine regardless of your level of expertise at a fair price then this is the place for you. You will laugh the entire time cause Emma is so warm and funny to the point she where she feels like family. She is also very caring and will often lend you a pair of dance shoes when she notices you in discomfort. My wife and I used her private lessons for our first dance and are very happy we did so!

Emma was a blessing for my dad and I. We wanted to do a fun dad/daughter dance, but nothing too long and cheesy. But something fun that represented us well. We brought in the music we wanted and she helped with the moves ! Had 10 dance lessons spread out over 10 weeks and it's safe to say, my dad was the talk of the town at the wedding ! We cannot say enough great things about Emma! We were looking for a dance class where my fiancé and I could learn Armenian dancing, while also have some fun and Emma did not just meet but exceed our expectations! Wow where do I begin!!? Emma is by far the best. She is fun, passionate, and hilarious. My husband and I enjoyed every dance class with her. Emma truly cares about her students and makes you feel like family. She even came the day of the wedding to practice with us one last time. She made us feel supported and loved. She also taught us how to have fun with it. I wish there was an option to give her more than 5 stars. I don't have enough words. She's the best of the best.

Working with Emma on our wedding first dance is honestly a memory we will have forever! She’s so passionate about her work and puts so much thought into each dance she choreographs. Honestly we had so many people tell us how awesome our dance was. It would not have been possible without Emma’s dedication and passion for her practice. I am not the kind of bride who wanted to stand and slowly sway back and forth for 3 minutes at her wedding. I wanted to have fun and do a first dance and father-daughter dance that both me and my guests would remember — and have a blast doing so! I reached out to Emma with my goal of having a fun choreographed upbeat first dance with my husband-to-be, complete with turns, lifts, and Barry White and asked if she was up for the challenge - and boy, was she! After our first class in her in-home studio, we had so much fun that I also booked a package with her to choreograph our father-daughter routine. Emma helped me set up a Father-Daughter dance mob surprise to the song from the Napoleon Dynamite movie (my dad’s favorite). We started with a slow song that cut, and my dad tossed his tux jacket to my mom, swapping it for a snazzy red one and we boogied down to some 70s choreography, joined for the last 30 seconds by our family and bridal party! Our guests were so impressed by our dances and could not believe it only took us about a month to learn them (with zero practice together for the mob!). They even said our dances inspired them to get out on the dance floor! Every week we went to class, Emma was positive, fun and looking forward to the next steps of our routine. She pushed us to not only learn the choreography, but to do it correctly, and as someone who was a professional cheerleader and dancer, I was so happy to work with a dancer who would make sure we looked coordinated and polished on the day. We even did a trial run in a faux-dress and suit! She helped us work through the difficult parts and patiently reviewed the things we forgot. In just six lessons (and a few late night practice sessions in empty shopping centers!) we were able to learn two complex dances that kicked our wedding reception off with a bang. Emma was a TREMENDOUS help! My husband HATES dancing, but Emma was so patient and non-judgmental. She taught us a few moves for our first dance, per my husband's request (he only wanted the bare minimum, hah). She made us look fantastic! Emma is an awesome dance instructor, she made us feel at ease and explained things so that they were easy to understand. Hands down, one of the best decisions we made throughout the entire wedding planning process was to work with Emma on a choreographed first dance. Not only were the lessons a totally fun activity for my fiancé and I on weekends leading up to the big day, the dance itself was a HIT and huge highlight at our wedding. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Emma. She’s so sweet and made each and every lesson really enjoyable and stress free. My fiancé and I were very impressed how she was able to work with our comfort levels and dance ability (or lack there-of) and so quickly build choreography for us that worked well with our song choice. She’s amazing and will alwalys hold a special place in our hearts for helping to make our special day that much more special.

Beyond being a phenomenal dancer, what stood out to us about Emma was her choreography. We spliced together songs for our first dance which had pretty big transitions, and not only were the moves cool, but they flowed and made total sense with our personalities. We had people coming up to us all night telling us how good of dancers we were, and we aren't. But we rocked it that night because she patiently worked every detail with us at the last minute. She exceeded our expectations even though she had the highest rating and we knew she would be great. It made our night.

My husband would say that he ‘doesn’t like to dance’. That was a cover to mentioning that he doesn’t know how to. Approaching him about the idea of taking dance lessons was going to be tough, but i was able to convince him after all! I’m so happy I found Emma through yelp, she is absolutely incredible. She knew how to tailor our dance lessons to get my husband interested by incorporating his hobbies into specific dance moves. With the distance and crazy schedule my husband and i had, Emma was flexible and Very patient. Our wedding started off so beautifully because of our first dance. All of our guests were raving about it. Emma is a wonderful, talented, and unique teacher. She is so easy to get along with. She also broke any insecurities that both of us had to better our dance moves. Sometimes, we would stay an extra half an hour after class to chitchat about everything and anything which was part of the reason why my husband began to look forward to going to our lessons. She is a one of a kind dance instructor. She is the reason why we are referred to as “the stars from Dancing with the stars” every time we run into any of our wedding guests. We highly recommend Emma, she is truly the best!

Emma was excellent and a true artist! Her animated and inviting personality automatically made us feel at ease and we enjoyed every minute of our sessions. If you are not adequate dancers, like us, and you don't know what to do for your first dance, reach out to Emma. If you are avid dancers, Emma is a professional and can help you put together a solid routine. My husband has struggled with dancing (especially in public) his entire life. Needless to say, trying to pull off our first dance in front of the most important people on our most important day was extremely daunting. Until we found Emma. Our first conversation on the phone was so pleasant and assuring, I booked our first session almost instantly. During our first session, she asked what we would like to achieve and what we expected. She had prepared the choreography and we started practicing right away. I knew immediately the dance would turn out beautiful. Emma was extremely easy and fun to work with. My husband and I did not feel awkward or shy around her. We were not afraid to make mistakes or do something silly, we just learned little by little and tried to get comfortable with the steps. Don't worry if you don't follow right away or get confused - she records the moves for you to practice at home. Just try to learn as much as you can while she is there so she could help make corrections. If not, do what you feel comfortable with and she will provide feedback during the next session. Emma's pace was just right for my husband. She would break down every single turn, pivot, and step for both the bride and the groom. She also designed a few dramatic moves, which I appreciated because our guests WENT NUTS when we pulled them off. If it seem crazy at first, don't sweat it. Emma would not put something in the choreography that you could not do, plus I think a little bit of challenge is healthy. We met with Emma once a week, and we practiced the dance religiously at home. Then Emma would give you feedback add new moves during the next class. By the time we finished, we had a spectacular dance in place and our guests could not have been more impressed! We were very pleased with the outcome. Emma was an amazing instructor!! I've always wanted to take dance classes and took the opportunity to go for it as a gift to ourselves for our wedding. I knew I was going to love it, but was skeptical of my husband trying to learn how to dance because I knew he would feel uncomfortable. It was the complete opposite and Emma exceeded my expectation. She made both of us feel so comfortable. Each class would fly by because the three of us would be having so much fun. We would laugh until we fell on the floor. It was truly an amazing experience and Emma has that infectious personality that lights up any room. She has a true and meaningful passion when it comes to dance and I admire her passion and the willingness to share love and expression through dance. She came up with beautiful choreography for our wedding. We danced to a slow song, then to bruno bars, then to an Armenian traditional dance. I'm Korean and my husband is Armenian, and boy, learning the Armenian dance was a bit challenging and required stamina but I couldn't have learned without Emma's patience and eagerness for me to shine in the room. Our guests couldn't stop talking our dance number and we both couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear. We are truly thankful for Emma and will recommend her to any couple that's about to get married or any person that has that inner desire to dance because you know it'll make you feel good. Emma helped us choreograph our first dance for our wedding. We found her on Yelp and she was easy to communicate with and fun to work with. She made the lessons fun, and our first dance turned out just perfect! We aren't dancers at all and have very little experience, but she was able to help us incorporate some moves into our dance. I'm so happy we found her and were able to have a first dance that was a little more interesting than plain "prom dancing." Thank you Emma for all your help!

My wife was so nervous about dancing that I thought it would be a great idea for her to start lessons. She started with Emma to learn how to dance salsa, Armenian and belly dancing. She was having so much fun that she even learned contemporary and hip hop. If you met my wife you would be surprised because she gets so nervous when it comes to dancing but Emma made her so comfortable that she just wanted to keep going and learning. She convinced me to go with her so she can have practice with me and I was surprised how much fun I had. Emma is patient, caring and hilarious. She used very funny analogies to get you to remember the dance moves. We were having so much fun that we decided to have Emma choreograph our first dance. It was such a hit our guest were cheering and loving every moment. Emma made out day so much more memorable. Our friends and family are still talking about our first dance. Emma was with us every step of the way. She came to our venue to help us practice before grand entrance and stayed to make sure we pulled it off! I can’t put into words how amazing Emma is. I went to her to touch up on my dancing before my wedding and learn some new forms of dancing. Emma is patient, loving, and hilarious. I was so nervous to start dance lessons but she made it so easy and relaxed me with her kind words and hilarious analogies for dance moves. My now husband, Alan and I, can't say enough about Emma. She is extremely talented, fun, and passionate about teaching her students. Alan and I had a non traditional, Studio 54/ Disco themed wedding. So of course- we needed moves ;). Emma not only taught us the moves for our 1st dance. We also had an awesome routine for our entry into our reception. She spent time teaching our entire bridal party , and our routine was a hit. Emma is so loving and patient with even the newest of dancers , like myself and Alan. Taking dance classes with Emma was the best thing we did for our wedding. We originally signed up with Emma to learn traditional Armenian dancing for our wedding, but she made the recommendation to also do a choreographed first dance. We are so thankful for her expert recommendation, because on our wedding day when you go up to do your first dance EVERYONE is looking at you. We are absolutely thrilled we had an amazing beautiful dance to show off, and everyone was surprised to see the groom dancing. Emma was such a fun teacher who understood each one of our drawbacks to being perfect dance partners and planned her classes around it. She is easy to schedule with and flexible given our busy schedule. She even arranged for us to practice at the venue prior to our wedding, and this was such a plus to know where we should position ourselves for turns and dips. We came to Emma only a month and a half or so prior to my husband and my wedding. Even with a full schedule, Emma found time to accommodate our busy schedules so that we were able to complete our lessons. She was extremely patient with us, as we were both pretty new to taking dance classes. So many wonderful things to say, I don’t even know where to begin! Emma has an amazing energy, she brings out the best in others and makes them want to be the best version of themselves through dance! Emma gave my husband and I the best dance learning experience for preparation of our wedding last December. She has the training, says what she thinks, gets you motivated, and makes you feel supported all at once. If it wasn’t for Emma, we wouldn’t have accomplished our dance goals! OMG!! The moment I got a call back from Emma, I loved her. She took her time and explained how I was rushing myself and told me it wasn't something I needed to worry about so far in advance. Emma is one of the most incredible dance instructors that we have ever worked with. First and foremost, she is very passionate about what she does and her work ethic and her talent really show that. Emma is patient. My wife and are not the worse dancers in the world, but we certainly are not the best. Emma really takes the time to show us how to perform each and every move, and even when we had a hard time executing a certain move, she reassured us that all would be okay, had faith in us, and stuck with us until we executed properly. Emma is punctual. We never once had a problem with Emma not being on time. She was always there, and was flexible with her schedule to accommodate ours. She even went out of her way to met us at our wedding venue to practice our final run through. Emma is the definition of a great teacher. She understands different learning styles, and knows how to relate to each individual dancer in their own unique ways. Sometimes she needed to explain something to me in a different way than she needed to explain something to my wife. What worked for me, may not have worked for my wife and visa versa, but she understood that and was still able to come across to both of us. Emma goes up and beyond. Not only did Emma teach us our dance lessons, and go out of her way to practice our final run-through at our wedding venue, but she was also there with us the day of the wedding!! I mean we were just amazed with how she took the time out of her own time to come on a weekend and just be there for us. We had some final jitters that she was there for us to calm us down and reassure us that we were ready to do such an amazing job on our first dance. Emma has such a fun and positive personality that is contagious. She has this way of making you fall in love with dance because she loves it so much. We were always happy to be at our appointments and learn the next steps to completing our dance. Emma is very professional and deserves all the recognition in her community. We loved working with Emma! She was very personal and she really listens to what you want. She customized the choreography to make it just for us. Coming from zero dancing background, me and my husband were both quite worried and nervous about the first dance. However, Emma smoothed us into it and walked us through out the whole process. She has been nothing but being supportive and encouraging. We literally could not have done it without her. I love to dance and when I mentioned a totally different twist to the typical slow "first dance" most couples do my husband was ecstatic, but with our busy schedules we were not sure how it would fit in the formula. Not to mention we planned our wedding in two months and boy did it go by fast! So where do I begin, we were on our way to California from Washington DC to meet with our photographers for our photo shoot. Meanwhile, I was doing a Yelp search for dance choreographers, since I knew there would be no time in DC and came across Emma. I thought to myself just when I saw her pic that I loved her already not to mention her clients love her too. A few days later on our way to do our engagement shoot we were talking to our photographers and his team about the 💃🏻 plans I had for my husband and I for the week ahead, I mentioned that I booked with Emma they were all shocked. Our photographers simply said you are in great hands, she is the best and one of them proceeded to call her on the spot. They spoke a few minutes and then he handed the phone to me and we clicked instantaneously and she fit us in right away. From our initial phone call, dance practices, days leading up to the wedding, and after I cannot express how thankful we were to have met Emma. She is a beautiful, genuine, fun, real, energetic, and not to mention awesome dancer! We had less than a week to choreograph 5 different genres of music 🎶 including Persian, Armenian, French/ Arabic, and Spanish with different tempos and movement, but we made it happen, thanks to Emma believing in us. So the day finally arrived, all the dance practices we did, videos we watched from our lessons, facetime sessions with Emma we could not let ourselves or Emma down. After all her students are a reflection of her and there was not one person who could not wait till we perform. So as thing don't always go as planned, the live band started to play " Aicha" (one of the songs included in our mix because that's how and where it all started, so thanks to our countless dance practice and sessions with Emma we winged that portion. About an hour later, our dj played our mix of the first dance it was supposed to be 4 1/2 minutes but turned out to be 8 minutes. Again, thanks to Emma dor prepping us and giving us the confidence to dance with our hearts and let loose. So to sum things up, Emma is like the meaning behind her name which means universal. As Jenna Dewan says "Dance doesn't have a language, Dance is a universal language, and whether you know how to dance or grew up training in dance, you have a respect for people who love to dance, and it's also visually very entertaining to watch a great dancer. " Further, she is very talented and passionate about making sure her students know their dance and having fun while learning. Dancing is in her soul. I instantly bonded with Emma when I met her because she could understand my passion for dance and understand how therapeutic it is and was. I recommend Emma in a heartbeat as she exerts her positive energy on others and I have no doubt that anyone around her will see through her passion for dance.
