My son had his wedding here just 2 days ago and it was just perfect. We had it in the back patio -- ceremony and reception. We didn't have to add a lot of decorations - just flower centerpieces and the guest table. I was worried it wasn't going to be enough but the garden patio didn't need much - it was beautiful without trying. We had 49 guests and soooo many guests commented how much they loved how intimate and beautiful the wedding was. The food and service was truly top notch. The night exceeded my expectation. I highly recommend The Five Crowns! Thank you Alison and staff for all your efforts!
Look no further for wedding venue! We were just married here this month and cannot recommend Five Crowns enough. Alison, the venue events manager, is top tier. You're not going to get anyone better than her! The venue was absolutely stunning and you can't forget about the food...flawless. What do guests talk about most at a wedding? THE FOOD! The food was delicious and the staff was stellar. We rented the garden and greenhouse and had about 60 guests. It was the perfect intimate size for a gorgeous wedding. Five Crowns will always be our special place where we can't wait to go back and have dinner. Also, when you have your wedding at Five Crowns, make sure you have your Lawry's rewards because you will get rewards points/free food to come back and reminisce.
Our wedding reception was everything we hoped it would be, thanks to Alison and the Five Crowns team. The restaurant venue was just the right size for our 100 guests. Many of our guests stated it was the best reception they had ever attended. Everyone was so happy with the food and beautiful greenhouse and garden. Thank you Alison, all of your suggestions were spot on!
The 5 Crowns was absolutely the perfect venue for both our wedding and reception. We wanted a location that was both intimate and personal for the wedding as well as had great food and wine for the reception. The 5 Crowns met those needs and more. The garden area was the perfect size for our wedding (75-80 people), and we used the greenhouse room, patio and garden for cocktails and dinner. Everyone loved the passed tray appetizers of arancini, herb/cheese gougeres and tempura asparagus. The restaurant provided white linens, full dinner service and glassware and added candles along the glass walls of the greenhouse room to create a beautiful setting for dinner. The entrée choices of prime rib, filet mignon, seasonally prepared salmon and Portobello mushroom steak were incredible; the cocktails and selected wines were top notch; and the restaurant's staff did an incredible job of serving the guests during the cocktail hour and dinner.
Working with 5 Crown's Sales/Marketing manager, Alison Robbins, was a very good experience also. Alison made putting the event together an easy process. She was very professional and responsive to our questions and concerns, and she did a great job working with our event coordinator to make sure that everything went smoothly on our wedding day.
There were two other "pluses" of choosing the 5 Crowns. They do have their own private parking lot, and that's a big plus in Corona del Mar. It is valet parking, and we worked with the valet company so that we could take care of the valet costs for the guests attending our wedding. Also, if you sign up for Lawry's VIP Program you will get credit for 10% of the food/drink bill to use for future dining at any Lawry's restaurant.
We could not have been happier with our decision to get married at Five Crowns! My husband and I live in Ohio and feel so lucky to have found this gem in Southern California, where I grew up.
As soon as I connected with Alison, Sales & Marketing Manager, I knew this was where we wanted to have our wedding. Thankfully, we were able to plan a trip to California about five months before our wedding to visit Five Crowns, meet Alison, and enjoy a nice dinner there. We were so impressed by Alison and the team at Five Crowns - everyone who works there is extremely knowledgable, hospitable, professional, and communicative. I am a chef with extensive experience in fine dining and upscale hotels so the food and hospitality aspects of our wedding were really important to us. We wanted our guests to be dazzled by the assortment and quality of the food and beverages, and to be taken care of by true hospitality professionals. Five Crowns delivered at every point.
The architecture and décor at Five Crowns really speak for themselves... which is something else that was important to us for our wedding. Since we were coming from out of state, we did not want to be burdened with dressing up a drab room and getting stuck with decorations we would never use again. We had flowers, greenery, and added a few extra candles on the tables and the space looked so intimate and cozy - it was exactly what we wanted!
The food and service were absolutely outstanding and Five Crowns is nothing like your average wedding venue. We opted for a cheese and charcuterie board with passed hors d'oeuvres for cocktail hour, then sat down to the most abundant and decadent four-course family-style feast I have ever seen in my career! Every one of our guests raved about the food and we heard MANY comments suggesting that it was the best wedding meal they have ever had, best (and most perfectly cooked) prime rib they ever had, and some even said it was the best meal they had ever eaten in their life! And, of course, the service was just as memorable as the food. At most weddings, you are either served red or white wine at the table or have to get up and go to the bar to get a cocktail yourself. The servers we had the pleasure of meeting at Five Crowns are true hospitality professionals - knowledgable, caring, courteous, and gracious. They made it a point to get to know each of our guests’ beverage preferences and were able to craft a really amazing experience for everyone. The range of beverage choices really wowed us, and our guests, and it was really nice to be waited on with such care. One of my little nieces lost the bracelet I hand-made for her and when one of the servers found out that we were looking for something, he searched on his hands and knees to just find it for her. We all felt so welcomed by everyone on the staff and they truly cared for us like family - the team at Five Crowns is the definition of genuine hospitality.
Five Crowns is very reasonably priced for the experiences that they are able to create. There was no charge to rent the room - just a food and beverage minimum plus tax, a small service fee, and gratuity which is completely left up to the discretion of the client.
I still get butterflies thinking about our wedding day and how perfect and special it was! I encourage anyone with a taste for gourmet food, worldly beers, spirits and wines, and exceptional hospitality to trust Five Crowns with their event - you will not be disappointed!
Our wedding was amazing and beautiful thanks to Alison and the five crowns team. Even throughout the craziness of the world currently Alison was always keeping me updated with our wedding details and if we would be able to continue. In the end we had a beautiful wedding our guests loved the food and felt safe with the open garden space and the tables distanced in the appropriate manner.
We are so glad we chose the Five Crowns for our wedding ceremony and reception. It was the perfect venue for our intimate celebration of 40 guests. Alison was so helpful throughout the process and made planning from afar simple. The service of the staff the day of was amazing, and all our guests thought the food was incredible! Alison and her team take care of all the big items, which takes a lot of stress out of planning and coordinating, and the venue is already so beautiful! Thank you to the Five Crowns team for a wonderful day!
We original looked at Five Crowns because food and service were high on our wants for our wedding venue. We ultimately chose the space because of the whimsical greenhouse and the romantic garden. It was the perfect space for our wedding. We also loved being so close to the beach, where we took sunset photos.
We worked with Alison during the planning process, and she was professional and vigilant with emails. Every time we spoke, via email or in person, she was flexible with the needs of our wedding. She offered recommendations for the space and planning as well. She always reached out if there was any confusion with our coordinator or other vendors.
Our guests keep talking about the delicious food, the wine and beer selections, and the overall service. Five Crowns offers such intimate, high-quality service. The attentiveness of the staff was unbelievable.
We cannot rave enough about this venue, and we are excited to come back for dinner! We highly recommend Five Crowns for anyone looking for a beautiful, intimate space with yummy food.
First of all, our wedding was PERFECT. We had a small wedding, and Five Crowns was the perfect size, ambiance, and setting for both our ceremony and reception. Not to mention that the food was excellent. Allison was a BIG help throughout the entire process, and even kept me (and a whole weekend of brides) from freaking out about the rain. They were able to make last minute changes to our contract to make sure the day went without a hitch and everyone stayed dry. I think one of the things the guests noticed the most was how friendly and attentive the wait staff was - seriously five star service. If I could do it again, I would choose Five Crowns every time.
Five Crowns was the perfect location for our springtime brunch wedding! We held a quick ceremony in the garden, then had a beautiful cocktail hour and brunch in the garden/patio and greenhouse, which was the perfect space for our 50 guests. From the get go, Alison and team were incredibly attentive. Since I didn’t have a wedding planner, Alison answered all of my numerous questions and provided her recommendations for ensuring our event ran smoothly. Since it’s a restaurant, we didn’t have to bring in any furniture, linens, etc. which made my life as the bride and planner even easier. Day of, the staff anticipated all of our needs, helped with transitions, and always made sure drinks were full! When we received the bill at the end of the event, it was spot on the estimate, even with the unknown of the open bar. It was a wonderful day, made perfect by Alison and the Five Crowns team!
Another bonus, with the Lawry’s rewards program, you get 10% back for every dollar you spend, so we’re excited to be heading back to enjoy a nice dinner this weekend!
Our wedding went absolutely perfectly thanks to Five Crowns. When we were searching for our wedding venue options, we immediately fell in love with the greenhouse and the patio that the venue had ready for a wedding ceremony and reception.
On the day of the wedding, the venue was stunning and the food was fabulous! Our guests still talk about how wonderful the service was, how delicious the food was, and how sophisticated the entire wedding was. During the evening, they provided firepits and fairylights and it transformed the area into such a cozy and intimate setting.
I think one of the best thing about Five Crowns was working with Alison. She always answered to my millions of questions so promptly and thoroughly. And even with the meticulous planning, last minute changes had popped up( as it happens during any wedding planning). But during this entire process, Alison was so communicative, helpful, and overall just wonderful in making these changes happen seamlessly!
Thank you, Five Crowns and Alison for hosting the wedding of our dreams!
We just had our wedding in January at this venue and it was perfect! We had a little under 100 guests so we wanted an intimate venue and Five Crowns provided that. The location itself has character and their food is awesome! All our guests were so happy! Alison and her team were fabulous to work with as well. Everything went smoothly. Thank you!!
We had such a phenomenal time at Five Crowns!!! We contacted Alison 9 weeks before our wedding (crazy, I know) and she helped us navigate through it all! The space is gorgeous, food is delicious, and the staff is so friendly, accommodating, and kind.
I could not imagine our wedding day as any more spectacular than it was, and am so grateful that we had it at Five Crowns.
Alison was so great. She was so patient with us and helped explain everything we had questions about.
We got so many compliments from our family and friends on the venue and of course... the food!!!
So happy we found this gem! Originally looking for venues I did not think something in Corona Del Mar near the beach would be in our price budget, but after contacting Alison we found out it definitely was within our budget. We got married here July 9, of this year (2018) and I am still on cloud 9 of how everything went and came along for our big day. Alison was amazing to work with and so helpful every step of the planning process, she was quick to reply to my emails and phone calls. Everyone at our wedding kept complimenting on how gorgeous our wedding was and five crowns was truly a huge part of making our wedding look so beautiful because it has such gorgeous beauty and charm! The staff was super helpful the day of wedding (I'll let my husband write a review on why the staff was extremely helpful) and the food was phenomenal, all our guest kept telling us how delicious the food was from the cheese and meats served during the appetizer hour, to the wedding dinner served. I highly recommend this venue and Alison is amazing and helpful to work with.
2 weeks ago I had my wedding at the beautiful Five Crowns Restaurant. The ceremony took place in the garden and the reception was in the green house. The wedding was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the service was exceptional. My guests all had a great time & were so impressed by the service!
My point of contact was Alison and she was super responsive, patient, & answered all my silly bride-zilla questions along the way.
Besides the beautiful interior, one of the reasons why I chose this venue was because if you have 50 guests or under, the guests can choose their entree the day of the wedding. So I didn't have to bother asking guests for "chicken, beef, or fish" on the wedding invitation and harass the guests if they didn't make a selection.
One other great perk of this restaurant is that you can rent out one of the private rooms on the second floor and use it for hair and make up. We had a beautiful space to get photos before the wedding.
We had the pleasure of hosting our engagement party at Five Crowns and it was truly an evening to remember forever. The team at the restaurant went out of their way to make everything perfect and the process to get there absolutely seamless. The quaint English garden and greenhouse provided the perfect romantic space for our friends and family to celebrate. The menu and cocktail offerings were fun, festive, perfectly paired, and carefully crafted for our cocktail style reception. The floral, decor, music, all fabulous. Afterwards, my fiancé and I joked that everything was so perfect we might as well have made it our actual wedding! I would recommend the venue to any discerning bride to be or for any occasion. Since the engagement party we also hosted our company holiday parties at the restaurant - also flawless.
We wanted a venue that would have history and character along with a story book setting. The five crowns achieves that and then some! It looks like an old English tutor cottage sitting on gorgeous manicured grounds nestled in a beach community. Alison and the entire team at the five crowns were so accommodating hopeful and went above and beyond to make our day special and memorable. I can’t think Alison enough for all of her helpful insights and suggestions, she was like an extension of my bridal party at no extra cost! The staff especially the lead person (Jessica) on our party went out of their way to ensure my husband and I always were taking care of first and had everything we needed, what an incredible day! The wedding was gorgeous the venue was perfect, and the staff, Food and ambience we’re fit for a king and queen!
Five Crowns ruined our wedding day. Don't get married here.
2-3 weeks before our wedding, Alison said they could no longer honor the appetizer minimum in our contract (20 per item) and that we'd have to increase our orders to 100 per item (this would have cost us an additional $6,500!!!). She also said the valet parking rate we agreed to was increasing from $4 to $6. Talk about a bait and switch.
All of our decor was planned around a clean white tent with 5 crystal chandeliers (1940's theme) which is what Five Crowns sold us on. But 2-3 weeks before our wedding, Alison sends a photo of the most hideous wood lighting fixtures I've ever seen (they looked like upside-down spiders that belonged in a Tim Burton movie) and tells us--surprise!--this year they're going with "French bistro" and there will only be 2 of these horrible lights.
On our rehearsal day, we were completely ignored by staff. We walk into the event space and realize they installed clear plastic ceiling and pitch panels (even after they told us they would be white, like last year) effectively turning the tent into a hot and unbearably humid greenhouse. Alison refused to answer her phone and the staff at Five Crowns refused to fix it, so we scrambled to find a vendor at the last minute to install white panels on the ceiling and filter out the direct sunlight. That cost us another $1,000!
But if all of that wasn't enough, the worst part was walking down the aisle, seeing my groom, and then smelling garbage. This immediately ripped me out of this moment I had been waiting for my entire life - the thought still brings me to tears two months later. We couldn't cover all of the clear plastic with such short notice so the tent was still so hot, they had to open some of the side panels to let air in. Their dumpster was apparently open and overflowing so the garbage smell was blowing into the tent. One staff member admitted they knew about the issue before the ceremony and NOTHING was done to address it.
I was up at 1:00AM on my wedding night crying my eyes out. A year of dreaming and planning for the most important day of my life ruined by Five Crowns' negligence.
I don't know how many hours we wasted or how much sleep we lost fighting Five Crowns on all of this with countless emails, phone calls and in-person meetings. They finally gave in on maintaining the prices and terms of our contract (because they knew it was illegal to change them) and they reverted back to the original space design we were sold on (except for swapping out some of the white tent panels for clear plastic), but we should have NEVER had to fight at all.
Because of the smell, Five Crowns agreed to a 25% refund that we finally received last week. 25% for ruining the day I had looked forward to my entire life. When I think about my wedding day, I experience anger, disappointment and heartbreak instead of joy – I can't even print our photos. No amount of money will ever fix what they did to us.
Whatever their tactless, smug and dishonest "Sales and Marketing Manager" tells you, they are NOT giving you a good deal. You are not saving money versus other venues (even by getting married at 10:00AM). You will be treated like a burden and inconvenience instead of a respected client who is spending many, many thousands of dollars on a single day.
There are hundreds of better wedding venues in Southern California – do your research and don't make the same mistake we did.
Five Crowns was the perfect venue for our wedding and Alison was such a pleasure to work with. They are seasoned veterans in the event world and everything ran so smoothly. Everyone, of course, also raved about the food. We had a small morning/brunch wedding in the garden/patio, but Five Crowns treated us like we were a bigger party and gave us such special treatment. Five Crowns, along with my own day of coordinator, made sure I didn’t have to worry about a single thing the entire wedding day. Everyone always says something always goes wrong, but honestly, we couldn’t think of a single thing! Thank you Alison and Five Crowns for making our day so magical!
This venue was amazing! We ended up having the entire place to ourselves because there wasn't anything booked for the day. The wait staff is fantastic. We went a few months before and had Greg as our server and he was so great that we requested him for the day of!
Alison was absolutely fantastic in helping us get everything squared away. She had to be super flexible with me as I live across the country and was planning it in CA! She was so responsive (which was a must for me as I didn't want to have to pull teeth to get answers...I'm not a dentist or a mob boss), and I loved working with her. She showed up day of and made sure everything was going well.
The food was absolutely superb and was served very quickly too! My husband and I were running around trying to talk to everyone, and they tracked us down to get us drinks and to take our orders. I could not have asked for a better location!
Our wedding was absolutely incredible and we attribute much of that to Five Crowns. The beautiful venue, superb food, and most amazing staff really made the wedding seamless and a night we will fondly remember forever. Everyone had a fantastic time and guests continue to compliment the venue. Many of our guests told us this was the best wedding they've ever been to. They loved the food, and all of the staff were very attentive. Several guests specifically commented that the bar tender made great drinks, and others raved about the wine. If you are looking for a venue that is not your typical ballroom (and absolutely beautiful!) and want your guests to be taken care of, this is your place. It was perfect for us.
Food...amazing. Staff...awesome. Venue...beautiful.
I was in NYC while planning my wedding in CA at Five Crowns and their staff was helpful and made things really easy for me. Overall, my wedding was beautiful and so many people came up and complimented the venue, the food, everything. They really gave us the feel we were looking for.
We had both our wedding and reception at the Five Crowns in the garden and patio. The staff at the Five Crowns was absolutely excellent! We planned our wedding long distance and were not able to look at the venue before booking. Allison took the time out her day to walk us through the venue via skype so that we could have an idea of what the space would be like. Adam was always available to answer questions and did an excellent job taking our ideas for the day and turning them into a workable plan for the space and communicating them to the rest of the staff. The staff the day of was attentive and helpful and the ceremony and reception could not have been more perfect. We had nothing but rave reviews from our guest about the food and the location and staff and would recommend the Five Crowns to anyone.
Corona del Mar, Ca meets traditional English charm...Lawrys steakhouse award winning name for great food, 2013 OC winner for best Charceuterie and Cocktails. At least 4 fireplaces throughout, lit during cooler months, antiques sent from Europe and a red telephone booth out front for great photos. Wmall garden lawn for intimate wedding ceremony and then the greenhouse for our brunch reception. Best part is we will have the place to ourselves since it's during daytime hours. Alison was a great coordinator during our visit and explained everything so well, answering our questions...excited to work with her. They don't offer a tasting but we're going to the Sunday brunch to try out what menu items we want to choose for the big day. Looking forward to our celebration and all that is to come....
we had planned on using this venue up until the last six months. Our original thought of being in downtown long beach out weighed the beauty of this place. I would recommend their work though. Margo is great to work with and incredibly responsive.
Margo Brask made sure we were happy and paid close attention to her staff and also to my guests! Because it lightly rained on my wedding day, Five Crowns did an exceptional job creating a last minute seating plan. The restaurant is very charming and turned out to be so cozy with their fire places lit. They made me feel so comfortable that I felt I was entertaining in my own home. The food was exceptional and so was the staff and the parking is easy. I believe the Five Crowns won Wedding Wire's top OC wedding venue for 2010 which is well deserved.
