Gene is not only a dear friend of mine but an amazing photographer! I was beyond ecstatic with how both our engagement photos and wedding day photos turned out. I tend to be very shy in front of the camera and I love how comfortable Gene makes you feel which brings a very authentic, natural feel to the photos. They don’t look staged or forced. His style of photography has a very moody, dramatic feel to it that I absolutely love and it was exactly what I was looking for for our wedding. He also made taking photos really fun; my husband and I both ran across a bridge and a highway to get some good shots hehe. Gene is amazing and his work says it all. His personality is also super fun. I highly recommend him for all your photo needs. Thanks for everything Gene!

Gene photographed my wedding in October 2019 and was perfect! He was very responsive, communicative, easy-going, and attentive to what we wanted out of our photos. We felt like we were in good hands on the wedding day, and we couldn’t be happier with the final product. Plus one of our wedding guests kept referring to him as “the cool guy who dresses well,” so theres that.

Amazing dude!! We shot our engagement at El Matador and couldn't be more happier with the results. He suggested a sunrise session to avoid crowds and it was a great decision! We can't for him to shoot our wedding!

I was actually a bridesmaid at a wedding he shot!!! He was so great. He kept emphasizing that he wanted to quickly do the bridal party photos so that the bridal party could go relax and drink!! He the photos so quick and they turned out amazing as well!

Dispite having to last minute cancel our initial wedding due to my husband getting COVID from his bachelor party (trust me I know I know), we were very thankful that not only Gene was available for the second rebooking, but he did SUCH an amazing job. My pictures are so beautiful; the posed and the candid ones, just absolutely gorgeous! We tried to make him take shots at the reception but he kept it professional hahah would definitely rehire and highly recommend!

Gene was the photographer for my brother's wedding AND one of my best friends wedding. My only regret is that I met him after mine. He is phenomenal!! Pays attention to detail and so fun!!

I had Gene cover our wedding ceremony, off-shots, and post-wedding dinner and THANK GOD we booked him!!! He was so down to earth and kind to us complete newbs in wedding game(it was our first marriage so of course!) and walked us through what we should request him to get the style/image/shots we desire from our special day. On the day of, we introduced Gene to our small group of guests& families. He did great at making a really friendly atmosphere with the entire guests so that they’d know when and where to pay attention to Gene for group shots. His experience with our venue was also a bonus because he knew exactly where he wanted to be to get best lighting and best angle, therefore was able to let our guests know where he wants cleared out, to not get arms and phones interrupting his photos. Result was naturally impeccable and gorgeous, to the point of awing my Japanese dressmaker, asking for Gene’s permission to use his photos on their website! Thank you again Gene for preserving the most memorable day most beautifully. Because he’s ordinary so good and sincere with people, I insist his future clients to introduce Gene to your guests first, to ensure everyone a good time!

Gene was the photographer at my friends wedding that I was a part of. I think he meant well but he was extremely distracting and high anxiety. He was constantly in everyone’s way during the entire wedding. During the ceremony, he got in front of the audience to take photos of the bride and groom, so nobody could see. He intentionally asked guests to move so he could get “a better shot” and literally ran into almost every guest at the wedding trying to take photos while in the meantime, nobody could see what was happening. As if that’s not annoying enough, he proceeded to talk shit on the guests and wedding party calling them “snobby” and “uptight” to a member of the bridal party. His photos were nice but he managed to piss off every single member of the wedding party and guests. I’d avoid him.

Gene was awesome! He was friendly and easy to work with, and he helped both my wife and I relax and get some great shots. His recommendations for photo locations before and after the wedding were spot on. I'm not always natural in front of a camera, but Gene made the process fun.

Gene is as good as it gets! He is such a class act and so professional. Thank you for taking all of our calls and addressing all of our concerns in advance. We highly recommend him and his 2nd shooter- they were so helpful the entire wedding day, even if it was just grabbing us a mint! We really stuck to a schedule and made sure to get in all of our family portraits in advance so that the rest of the evening could be full of wonderful candids. He really captured the essence of our wedding. All of our family members were really impressed with his services and how he integrated seamlessly into our wedding, even dancing the rapid hora with us all the while filming! What I appreciated most was when he alerted me that we only had a half hour remaining of his services, so if there were any shots or any friends we didn't take pictures with, he was happy to fit them in. Also recommend the included engagement shoot- helps you get a bit more comfortable doing this sort of thing.

Gene was awesome - nice to work with, fun to be around, easy going, but goes above and beyond to get great photos. We probably wouldn't have chosen to do an engagement shoot normally, but the pictures turned out great and were a good warm up act for the main event (plus, gave us some much better photos for the wedding website). On the actual day of, Gene was super flexible, working around some last minute timing complications to get in all the shots we wanted. He was super efficient and almost invisible during the ceremony...he definitely has pictures from angles and perspectives I don't even remember him being in. And of course, everything ended up looking fantastic!

We got married in March 2018, and Gene captured our special day! Prior to that, he did our engagement shoot and we love all of our pics. For the day of, we weren’t allowed to do first looks at the venue, and Gene was very accommodating and help us find a good location for it. He made sure to scout the area for the best photo spots ahead of the wedding day. He is very good with capturing special moments as opposed to cheesey posey shots. I’m a professional illustrator, and extremely picky when it comes to photos. I love Gene’s composition, lighting, and sense of story. On top of that, he was very patient when we did our family photos. Both my Husband and I have huge families, and it was tough getting everyone together. When we got our photos, he also organizes them into categories which make viewing a lot easier. I highly recommend Gene to any future married couple! Thanks Gene!

We are so happy that we found Gene! Not only did he do our engagement session he did a FANTASTIC job during our Wedding! He really went above and beyond and is so talented, exactly the look and style that we desired! Gene was super professional, on point, and so easy to work with and I am not a fan of having my photo taken! We would love to use him again for any photo needs that come up in the future like an anniversary or maternity shoot. We have no doubt that he will become a highly sought after Photographer!

Gene is an amazing photographer! He did my engagement photos and wedding photos. I wanted a photojournalism look and let me tell you my pictures came out amazing! Gene is talented and a blast to work with. My husband and I felt extremely comfortable working with him and he really knows how to capture those perfect moments. Very impressed with Gene's photography and his ability to work with a short amount of time. We had to knock out family photos, bridesmaids, groomsmen, and pictures of me and wife in about 30 minutes and he did so quickly and efficiently! Not only is he a good photographer, but he is able to manage time very well!

Gene is amazing! As a wedding planner, I work with tons of photographers, and he truly is a wedding journalist (or photojournalist). He has a very calm demeanor the day of the wedding to keep the couple relaxed and he goes with the flow to capture both the perfect moments with a bride and groom and also all of the detail shots from the things that you've been planning for the past (?)months. What an amazing photographer Gene is! What I love most about him is just how easy going he is. We wanted a photographer that was good at photography, but was very vocal during weddings, too. We had a big wedding and Gene was very vocal and organized about the photos. He got through our family photos so quick, it definitely made everyone happy!

Honestly, I am very disappointed by this photographer and his lack of professionalism . He was willing to work with my budget when I talked to him over the phone which was wonderful! I was thrilled that I was able to find a photographer who was so understanding (or so I assumed). He then emails me back several days later and tells me that he is going with another couple who is willing to spend more money. This occurs AFTER he already sent me a contract to sign!! Brides, please don't feel decepted by this photographer. He will promise you one thing and then change his mind a few days later, all in the name of the mighty dollar. I understand he has a business to run and we all need money to support ourselves. However, isn't it important to make your clients happy so they can continue to refer you to other brides? My advice to you lovely brides out there who are searching for a photographer: skip this one and find another!!!

What a wonderful experience! My fiance and I have never had photos taken of us professionally, and we were initially nervous about being photographed. Both of us joked about how awkward we were going to be in front of the camera prior to our session starting, but Gene made us feel at ease during the whole shoot. We've seen Gene's work online and have an affinity for his style: dreamy and ethereal, yet still capturing moments of everyday intimacy. He has an ability to capture such spontaneous images of warmth. The way he uses light as a subject in his photos was something that we really appreciated in an artistic photographer. Even though it was overcast and raining during our home shoot, Gene still found great lighting, making our dark rooms look bright and welcoming. We are so pleased with how lovely our photos turned out.

Gene did an anniversary shoot for my husband and I. All of the photos look absolutely amazing! He makes you feel very comfortable being in front of the camera and captures true moments.

I wanted to take some family photos and was looking for a photographer. We went to take some photos in Irvine and loved how they looked. I will definitely recommend him to my friends and family!

We wanted engagement pictures near the beach and Gene suggested we take pictures at Malibu! We met 2 hours before sunrise and he took the most beautiful pictures!! He is so professional, too! He had all these poses ready and asked me what I wanted, too! True professional.

Gene took our photos on our wedding day and it was beautiful. He was able to capture our day in a way that was natural and real!

Most terrible experience to book photographer online, could not trust Gene Kang at all...very upset. Do NOT hire him, or else, you may take a risk your photographer disappeared on your wedding date. I've started quote with Gene from July. Date, price, location of engagement session were all set, and even wedding date photography price were assigned with him already. I've also booked makeup & hair for the engagement session. Gene suggested to meetup before engagement photo day, he picked the date of meetup already. However, a week before day of engagement photo shooting, he disappeared. I mean disappeared, disappear & not reply from Text, phone call, email everything. I was trying so hard to reach him, and finally at the date of meetup, which is 3 days before engagement shoot, he sent me an email and saying "after much consideration, I don't think we're going to be a good fit. We never signed a contract, so I'm not sure why you hired a hair and makeup artist." If he could sent above earlier, I would plan better. It's ok to not take this job, but it's not acceptable and very unprofessional to say it 3 days before the shooting date. I could only told myself that luckily I learned about his unprofessional before the wedding date, it's just engagement session. I can't imagine if my photographer not showing up with no call, no text and ignore my contacts in my wedding date. In my sincerely, please do not pick Gene Kang, you will be worry to see if he's going to show up on your big day. And you will not know until the day or just the day before....

Lovely photographer with beautiful work. We enjoyed having our photos taken by Gene. He has an artistic eye and has an enthusiasm for the work he does. We were surprised he's fairly new to the art of wedding photography, he can only continue to get better from here. We look forward to recommending him to our friends and family. Gene is professional and fun! My fiancé and I had the opportunity to have an engagement shoot with him in Fullerton, CA. We had a blast! I had done previous research on poses I would like to try and so had Gene. We ended up loving the pictures that were taken and used some for our Save the Date postcard! Gene is highly recommended :)
