My husband and I not only spent three heavenly nights at this lovely inn, we got married there, just the two of us. Everything was absolutely perfect, with no small effort by the manor's staff! But first, the manor...
The manor sits on a beautiful piece of property, with mountain and valley views on both sides, and unbeatable grounds for wedding photos. Upon arrival, you'll hear the inn has quite the combination of grandeur and allure in its past, which adds to the charm. There is a small, quaint pool, a wonderful greenhouse room, and great patio seating area in the back, which we quite enjoyed our first day with a bottle of excellent wine and cheese watching the sunset and stars.
We stayed in the Windsor Suite in the cottage, which was just to die for. The room is equipped with speakers throughout and a sonos system to play any genre of music, which was a nice touch walking into relaxing tunes. The decor is gorgeous throughout the manor, and this suite was no exception - very well appointed, French country meets modern. The bathroom is huge, with a giant two-head shower, and large tub overlooking the horses and valley. The beds are extremely comfy, and the softest robes I've ever felt. The in-room refrigerator was convenient though they offered full use of their frig to store food/drink and our dinner leftovers (which they kindly warmed and served in our room our last night).
Now the wedding & staff: Let me start by saying the entirety of booking and planning was done via email from overseas, so immediately this could have been a challenge. But the amazing Mary Gilliam of guest services jumped into building this event, responding to every inquiry. She advised not only on the manor itself, but every local service I needed - bakeries, florists, salons, photographers, and officiants. She helped coordinate every last detail, from our ceremony and food, to making local appointments. I couldn't have planned Any of this fantastic day, memory, without her, so I am indebted.
The owners, Nancy and Dayn, are also wonderful, leading the vibe that you are part of the family. Nancy placed a huge spray of roses in our room to celebrate our occasion, and even helped picked the music for our ceremony when I blanked! All while Mary ran back and forth to check on us, feed us, and get us prepped, since they'd graciously offered a room in the manor for my husband to get ready and wait. We got married in the Hunt Room, and everything was just perfect, with champagne at the end. We even had the lovely dining room to ourselves for dinner, though had there been other diners they offered a private room/table. The food at Glen Gordon is beyond five star. The chef, Mike, was extremely personable, and willing to accommodate seemingly any request, any dietary restriction, with unbelievable skill. The tiny restaurant, Houndstooth, can also be dined in when not staying in the inn, but it's very intimate. Prepare for outstanding multi-course, five star meals, with or without delectable wine pairing. Even breakfast was several courses with delicious house made lattes.
Leaving was extremely hard to do - the luxury, relaxation, and attention are bar none. I should add one day we hopped around to the wineries, and this is the perfect location to access them all with ease. We really can't wait to get back there, hopefully in the summer when the pool is open, and possibly with family. I can't recommend this place enough for a special event. You won't regret it.
In September my now husband and I got married at Glen Gordon Manor (GGM). I wanted a place with the perfect mixture of modern elegance and old Hollywood glamour; a place with history where the history of my young family could begin; a place that was chic and felt like home at the same time. I wanted the best chef in the area to serve the most amazing food. Finally, and most importantly, I wanted a place where our families could come together, relax, and enjoy the weekend stress free. From the first moment that we stumbled upon GGM, I knew that this magnificent property was going to be OUR wedding venue.
Upon first meeting Dayn, the charismatic chef and proprietor, he said these prophetic words “We will take care of you!” From that day on, Dayn, his lovely and welcoming wife Nancy, and the incredible manager Mary were never too busy to answer any and all of my admittedly minor concerns. They were constantly there when I needed a friend to reassure me over and over that the most important day of my life would be perfect and we would be taken care of like family.
Every detail on the weekend of the wedding was beyond perfect and each guest walked away feeling like they had come out of a dream. Dayn, Mary, and his staff were always on hand to handle any of our needs and they accommodated any and all last minute changes (there were quite a few) with a smile on their face. One of our guests, a restaurateur in a famous restaurant on Park Avenue in New York City, stated that our wedding dinner was the most delicious meal he had ever had.
While no words can encapsulate how breathtaking the venue is or how wonderful Dayn, Mary, and their staff are; what I can say is that I would recommend this as a wedding venue to any bride who wants time to stand still and allow her and her groom to savor each and every precious moment of the most important day of her life because she KNOWS she’ll be taken care of at GGM.
Thank you Dayn, Nancy, and Mary!!!!!!
