Wow, what can we say? The reception was perfect. Birgit helped us plan the event and was there the entire event. The location is beautiful and with the decorations, it was like a fairy tale. The food and service are top-notch. We had several comments from our guests that it was the best wedding meal they had ever had. We couldn't be happier with our experience.
really wanted to tour this venue as a potential location for my wedding. emailed two separate times with no response. unfortunately since this venue is not responsive we will have to move on and look at other options with better communication.
There were so many wonderful aspects about the Goldmoor, but there were also some quirks.
Good:
-We had a wedding of 25-30 people in May, which was the perfect amount of people for us for the venue. The property is GORGEOUS and Patricia (the inn keeper) puts an extraordinary amount of work in the landscaping and beauty of the property. All the guests commented on how gorgeous the scenery was.
-We were able to have all guests stay on property in the beautiful and big suites, and we were able to eat a very good breakfast everyday prepared by the chefs. Every suite has robes and a big jacuzzi, and all the decor is unique to each suite. The view from our English Cottage was gorgeous! It was also a lot of fun renting out the group of 4 suites that open to a very spacious common area (complete with a porch), as we were able to socialize with family/friends in that area. There is a lot of detail that goes into each room, so it was nice being able to see the different personalities each room offered. Plus, each day we had 2 freshly baked cookies awaiting us in our room!
-The food was phenomenal at our tasting, which is another reason we were happy to choose the Goldmoor. We chose to serve scallops, filet, and crab cakes. We were excited to serve a top-notched meal to our wedding guests! The chefs serve a fantastic dinner and the breakfast was also very good.
-The wedding coordinator got us in touch with incredible photographers and an officiant, and we had beautiful flowers ready for us on wedding day. She also set up our hair and nail appointments, which were all very helpful to me as I hate planning big events!
-The Goldmoor offers several options to have your ceremony and reception, so even if it rains or it is cold, there are indoor options. We were happy to have this flexibility and they offer the whole property to you for your wedding day so you can make last minute decisions on where you want everything to be held.
-We chose to have our wedding and reception in their covered outdoor pavilion. The pavilion comes with a a huge array of electrical outlets, so we could set up a photo booth, band, and slideshow all right there! You can also rent sides to go around the pavilion in case of inclement weather.
Bad:
-While all the guests commented on how great the food was (especially our crab cake and beef wellington appetizers), we were disappointed that several steaks were way overcooked (my mom and dad didn't even eat their steak due to how overcooked they were). I guess this is due to the amount of people needing to be served, as our filet in the tasting was cooked perfectly.
-The biggest disappointment was the communication in planning our wedding. On several occasions, I had to reach out to the wedding coordinator through multiple emails and phone calls over the span of weeks just to have 1 item addressed. My mom contacted the innkeeper several times about our lack of communication with the wedding coordinator. The lack of communication was very stressful for me (hence the primary reason for the 3 stars) and showed somewhat at our wedding on some finer details, as the cakes were undecorated (we asked them to be decorated...however, they tasted phenomenal) and an entire hot chocolate/coffee bar was never served (just carafes of coffee). But for someone less Type A, maybe having top notch communication is less of a concern.
--We felt we were being overcharged at times, especially when looking over the estimates.
