In August 2023, we booked a private room (the Audubon room) at the Grand Concourse to host our July 2024 wedding rehearsal dinner for 34 guests. At first, everything seemed seamless. They provided menu options, children's menus, and clear pricing details for us. The banquet manager was very easy to reach via email.
Ten days before our event, I provided the final head counts. I indicated that we would be having 27 adults and 7 children, provided the meal choice for the 27 adult entrees, and indicated that I could provide the 7 children's meal choices as well if needed. I did not receive an email response asking for the children's meal choices.
When we arrived for our rehearsal dinner, the room was initially not ready and we waited for about 20 minutes before we were taken back. When we arrived at the room, there were not enough seats and guests had to stand while another table was set up. Then, the waitress indicated that they did not know we would be having 34 guests and that the kitchen did not have our meal counts. She spoke as if this was our fault, and that we provided the wrong number. I indicated that the total was to be 34 and that I communicated this with the banquet manager. It was a hassle to go around and collect the meal choices again to give to the waitress, even though I provided this information via email 10 days in advance.
We had opted to do a consumption bar rather than the private bar in our room. However, the service was extremely slow and majority of our guests received their first course before their drinks even arrived. In addition, my husband and I were the last to be served our drinks and meals.
When it was dessert time, the adults were given their desserts but the children's dessert was not brought out. I had to indicate to the waitress that the children needed their dessert as well (ice cream sundae). The children all watched the adults eat their dessert and did not receive their ice cream sundae until the adults were all almost finished. The waitress had also asked guests if they wanted coffees with dessert; however, the coffees were not brought out until after everyone had already finished their desserts.
When my husband and I asked to speak with the banquet manager who I had been in contact with for 11 months, we were told he was not available. Two other managers did come and speak with us. We indicated how frustrated we were by the fact that we had signed a contract and been in communication with the banquet manager about this evening, and yet it felt as if no one at the restaurant was aware of any of it. It appeared that the children's meals was where the breakdown was. They had set up and planned for 27 adults, but not the 7 children, even though the email communications made it very clear that there were 27 adults AND 7 children for a total of 34 guests. However, I'm unsure of the breakdown in communication regarding me providing the meal counts ahead of time and the wait staff indicating that the kitchen did not have them.
The managers did take off a small portion off our check to make up for the hassle/inconveniences we faced; however, our rehearsal dinner was stressful for my husband & I rather than being the relaxing start to our wedding weekend we thought it would be. Although the food was good and we have been to the Grand Concourse before and very much enjoyed it (why we chose it as a venue for our special evening), I don't believe we will be returning in the future.
I had such a great experience with this venue for my wedding. From the very beginning, Brian, the coordinator was professional, timely, and organized. I initially thought that the Grand Concourse would be too expensive for a wedding of only around 115 guests. However, it ended up being really reasonable considering everything I could get with the money. Lots of these other venues will make you pay a retainer fee just to rent the space for a couple thousand and you really don't get anything out of it. I was able to get a chocolate fountain, update my drink package, and get some nice appetizers with that money instead. Also, on the day before the wedding at our rehearsal dinner, I brought in my simple flower centerpieces. Unfortunately, I did them myself and they were already looking a little wilted. I told Brian that if they weren't looking good the next day to just use the candles the venue provides instead. However, they ended up buying me new flowers and putting them in the vases for me without me asking which was really above and beyond. If you like the look of the venue, you should really consider it. Everything was included, I didn't have to get a separate caterer etc, and the food was really good.
We had an absolutely amazing experience, and Brian George was at guy behind it all. Every guest I had was blown away by the job they did. great venue!!!

Wow! If I could leave a 10 star review I would! We had the privilege of working with Brian to organize our reception. He gave us everything we could have asked for and more. He addressed all of our concerns, was quick to respond, and was very on top of everything! The reception went seamlessly and it was all to Brian and his team! To have a reception in a historic landmark in PGH meant so much to us and Brian and his team made it a dream come true for us!
We worked with Brian for my son's "Post Destination Wedding Reception". Best service you could ever want! He listened to my recommendations and also offered some suggestions. He made sure I stayed within my budget while providing us with such an impressive selection of food. When I emailed him with questions I received a response very promptly. It is so refreshing to deal with someone who is cooperative, pleasant and very knowledgeable. Hard to find these days! We started with light and heavy appetizers and a seafood section. Our meal was not sit-down but instead we had a mashed potato station, pasta station and carving station (his suggestions). The staff was wonderful all evening. Several of our guests commented on how nice they were to deal with. The night flew by. I was nervous about the typical things as the host of the event but had no doubts that Brian would make sure that their part would be up to my expectations and I was right. I highly recommend this venue for your special event!
We had our rehearsal dinner for our wedding at the Grand Concourse and WOW! It was a perfect way to start off our wedding weekend! Brian and his team went above and beyond on their service and attention to detail, not to mention that the food was excellent (I am still receiving compliments!!) If you are looking for a stunning and unique venue, this is your spot. The architecture and stained glass windows are unlike any in the city and with the venue being right on the Monongahela river, the views of downtown are spectacular. We would give an 11/10 stars if we could! Cannot compliment this venue and staff enough- you will not be disappointed to host your rehearsal dinner here. Thank you Brian!
Brian George helped us schedule everything for the reception at Grand Concourse. The service was top notch, Brian was very responsive with getting back to us with any questions we had, and had a wide array of services to choose from to ensure the party went perfectly. Very friendly and professional, with an elegant venue to boot. The food was terrific, and they also let us play our own music via their sound system. All in all, they were a big part on the day being memorable and enjoyable even though my husband and I plus the guests were all coming in from out of town.
Do not hesitate to book the Grand Concourse for your wedding reception! It's so beautiful that it basically decorates itself. But, beyond that, the staff is incredible - so friendly and helpful -- from the waitstaff, to the carver, to the donut maker, to the bartender. Brian, the events manager, worked with us to make our vision a reality -- to the point, where I felt comfortable enough to hand him my decorations and say - ok - just put these somewhere they'll look good. And boy, did they! The food is outstanding -- and they really worked with us to customize our menu and drink selections. Our guests are still talking about what an amazing night it was. Huge kudos to our Captain, Missy, who made sure we had food (it was a cocktail style reception) and that our glasses were never empty. Pickup the next day was seamless. I cannot recommend them enough!!
LOVED IT! Our wedding reception was held at the Grand Concourse and it was amazing. Everything was well operated and taken care of for us. Brian and the other staff were all so friendly and went out of their way to help us. The food and drinks were delicious. It is a stunning location that left our guests in awe. The grand staircase served as a beautiful place for pictures. Can't wait to visit again.
On June 1, 2019, Grand Concourse hosted our wedding reception and blew our expectations out of the water. Our group of 100 was treated to an elegant venue, delicious food and impeccable service. We chose GC after visiting 8 venues, some more expensive, some less because we knew we could count on the food and loved its uniqueness. It didn't take long to realize that beyond what we knew, we also received Brian. He is the GC's biggest asset. Accommodating, responsive, and knowledgeable he led a fine-tuned machine to near perfect execution on wedding night.
Positive takeaways:
We chose food off the lower tier of the wedding menu, and the portions were huge and it tasted just as good as it did during the trial run. We were able to amplify the beauty of the venue with an incredibly reasonable flower budget. The variety of table sizes and shapes made making a seating chart way easier than we imagined. The proximity to the Station Square Sheraton allowed us to avoid paying for transportation from the reception. The way the ballroom was set up made the GC feel as though we'd rented the entire place to ourselves and we hadn't. Major concern - avoided.
Honestly, GC was the best decision we made through the wedding process. They were EASY. For us - the week of - with the vendors. Just easy. We didn't truly appreciate how important that was until everything else became difficult as the wedding came on. Everyone in attendance, including many from out of town, raved about the place.
Absolutely no regrets. We'll be forever grateful to the Grand Concourse for hosting our stunning and flawless wedding.
The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, but what made our wedding a truly perfect experience was the expertise attentiveness, and professionalism of the staff. Brian, our main point of contact, was responsive and was able to answer all of our questions. On the day of, we didn't have to lift a finger as the staff set up the entire ballroom based on the seating plan we provided. Throughout the night, special attention was given to my groom and myself to make sure we had the best experience possible.
I cannot recommend this venue more if you are looking for a stress-free, wonderful experience!
The Grand Concourse was a wonderful venue for our wedding reception. Compared to other venues in the area, the pricing was AMAZING, it is in a great location (close to hotels for out of town guests,) close to downtown for great pictures and post-party celebration options, etc. The staff for the event were on top of EVERYTHING and checked in occasionally throughout the night to make sure everything was going as planned. The food is just second to none-- amazing-- great options to choose from for hors de 'ouvres and main dishes (vegan/vegetarian friendly, etc.) Not to mention the venue itself is GORGEOUS-- perfect for a vintage/art deco feel-- you barely need to decorate futher. (We had beautiful table settings, but we were able to keep them simple since the venue aesthetic does most of the work!)
Simply said-- I couldn't recommend a better venue for a fantastic party/celebration.
My husband and I had our 200 person wedding reception at the Grand Concourse 9/8/18 and have had a number of guests since then tell us that this wedding was simply their favorite! A lot of this has to do with the beauty and uniqueness of this place. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but their food is exceptional. We knew that we wanted a place where it doesn’t look just like any other wedding and also where our guests would remember the food and they did! Brian, Scott, and the whole team worked very hard with us to make our vision come alive and it was perfect. They made sure that everything was to our liking and we even had our dance floor out on the patio, which was a huge hit and gave us more room inside. We highly recommend this venue if you are looking to stand out and not spend a fortune doing so.
Just perfection. From start to finish, working with Brian to plan our wedding at the Grand Concourse was easier than I ever could have imagined. He was so understanding and patient, answered almost all of my emails immediately even when they were oddball middle of the night questions. He truly wanted whatever would make our wedding day perfect for us. Any tweak I made to the menu, he made work. And the food was INCREDIBLE! The beauty of the grand concourse is a statement itself, but the staff doesn't just skate by. No detail was too small for them. I would not have changed one thing about my wedding venue!
The Grand Concourse served as the perfect venue for my husband and I️ to get married and for the reception. Dawn and Brian were extremely easy to work with, answered emails very quickly, and set up the space perfectly for our evening. The staff really went above and beyond to cater to our needs, and our guests were awed by the space. The location was excellent for out mostly out-of-town wedding: easy access to the T, walking distance to the Sheraton, and the GC is surrounded by other restaurants and bars which was great for our guests who were there for a few days. Our experience was really, really perfect!
Beyond incredible! My husband and I were extremely impressed with the staff and services provided. We were a little nervous about the space for dancing, but we ended up renting the Gandy Dancer Saloon and danced outside in the patio space -- highly recommended! During the planning process, Brian was very accommodating and answered literally hundreds of questions we asked. The food and drinks were amazing. The staff was so nice! We had multiple people tell us it was the nicest wedding they have ever been to!
Absolutely AMAZING. My guests were WOWed by the entire staff, food, and bar. Not only is the venue a unique place, but Brian and Dawn were great! Definitely get the donut machine, my guests absolutely loved it.
We hosted our rehearsal dinner at the Grand Concourse, in the Ladies Waiting Room. Everything was perfect - from the planning phase to the night of - the team was easy to work with, the food was great, and our guests had a great time. I'm very happy we chose the Grand Concourse, and highly recommend hosting events there.
I'm not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said, but the Grand Concourse is absolutely TOP NOTCH. My wife (now) and I were having a 'destination Pittsburgh' wedding and we immediately looked to the Grand Concourse for the WOW effect we both wanted. GC did not disappoint. We were fortunate to work with Dawn. Her patience and professionalism in the consulting that she provided was beautiful. All of our guests were amazed by the grandeur of the building itself, but the quality of food and service was welcomed just as much. Our captain, Steven, was attentive and eager to assist in every need, even those that might have been out of scope of the norm. In short, many of our guests proclaim our wedding as the most beautiful and best experience that they had ever been invited, which speaks in huge part to Dawn and her team of professionals. We couldn't be happier in our choice to host our wedding on the breathtaking stairs at Grand Concourse, as well as the quality of dining, service, and the attention to details.
Oh and if given the opportunity, ALWAYS pop for the fresh doughnut machine!
We had our reception at the Grand Concourse and could not be happier with how everything turned out. First, as anyone who has ever been inside knows, the venue itself is absolutely beautiful and unique. This was one of our deciding factors, as we knew it wouldn't take much decoration or rentals to transform it from a restaurant to a wedding venue. From a practical standpoint, you will save yourself a lot of time and money as the linens, chairs, etc. are already provided and of good quality.
Brian and Dawn were very pleasant and helpful during the planning process and especially in my frenzy in the days leading up to the event. We moved away from Pittsburgh six months before the wedding, and they were accommodating to me asking very detailed questions well in advance before the move. Additionally, most of my vendors have worked with the Grand Concourse team before and were also comfortable working with Brian.
The set-up was absolutely beautiful. We had a French Quarter/Vintage inspired reception and everything actually ended up looking better than I imagined. Between the staff and the florist, we didn't have to worry about anything that day. I had a friend look things over prior to cocktail hour, and she basically said she didn't need to change anything. The tables looked classy and clean, and the cookie table set-up was amazing! By all means, have GC plate your cookies and GET THE DONUTS. You cannot go wrong with the donuts. Your guests will thank you.
We had 165 guests, who fit comfortably in the main dining room. We also rented out the entire Gandy, which I highly recommend if that is within your budget. I think that played a role in guests staying till the end (along with the awesome DJ). It's a great space to mingle and was absolutely worth the extra money. We certainly didn't break the bank either; GC is a great value!
The Grand Concourse was the perfect reception venue for our wedding in May of 2016. It was so beautiful and the food was excellent. Dawn, Brian, and Scott were so helpful throughout the planning process and were accommodating to our needs. Dawn and Brian responded to all of my emails quickly and I never felt as though they were annoyed with my many inquiries! I highly recommend the Grand Concourse to any couples who are looking for a unique and classic venue. It's been a month and our friends and family are still talking about how much fun they had at our wedding!
We had our wedding there Halloween 2015. I have been in love with the Grand Concourse for years now, the environment is absolutely beautiful! The staff is fabulous to work with especially Brian! My Dad and now husband dropped off all of the decorations the day before and they told them where I wanted things but also gave them free range, of course they did a great job. Everyone is still talking about what a beautiful venue we had as well as how delicious the food was. I would and will continue to recommend everyone and anyone to have their wedding, party, shower, whatever it is to be held here. It is so elegant, warm, and inviting! I love it here! I can't wait to go back for our anniversary! :)
I had my wedding for 142 guests at the Grand Concourse on Saturday, June 27th 2015. It was an incredible experience. When I started looking for venues, I couldn't get over the generic look of the standard hotel ballrooms. I knew I wanted something unique where I wouldn't have to do much in the way of decorating. When we saw the Grand Concourse, I knew it would be our venue. It is so special, and for our wedding we had a lot of guests coming from out of town so I wanted to show them this beautiful, historic and unique part of Pittsburgh.
My guests raved about the atmosphere, the food, and the service. When I arrived with my bridal party, they had set up a private cocktail service for us on the 2nd floor where we had our own server (Susan). Susan was spectacular. She was so kind, accommodating and attentive. We ordered a few additional hors d'oeurves at the recommendation of the server who helped us during our tasting (dynamite scallops, lobster bisque shooters) and our guests loved them!
The entire staff was amazing. The servers and bar tenders took great care of my guests. From top to bottom and beginning to end the wedding was a fantastic experience. Brian George made the process of planning and preparing so pleasant and easy. He accommodated my every request and his calm, pleasant demeanor made me feel at ease. He quickly responded to all my emails and questions, and never made me feel like I was a bother. I am so grateful for everyone at the Grand Concourse who made my wedding day so perfect. I highly, highly recommend the Grand Concourse!
Everything about the Grand Concourse and how they handled our special day was perfect. The staff was beyond attentive to our needs and made everyone feel welcome. Brian was a great person to work with and he helped us with whatever we needed. There wasn't anything that could've been done differently or better. The venue speaks for itself and our guests had nothing but positive words to say about the evening they had. I hope others who use this venue have the same experience as I do and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a grand, vintage feeling for their special day!
My fiance and I looked high and low for a wedding venue in Pittsburgh that would have character, great food, and fit 165 guests (we ended up with 130 but we invited 165). Oh, and we had to be able to afford them. We could not have been luckier to have found The Grand Concourse. It fit all of our criteria and then some. Of course the food was amazing- the same high quality you get when you eat at the restaurant. The service was impeccable and they were always making sure we had everything we needed. Brian was so helpful in the planning process and was very accommodating to our ideas and needs. Our guests raved about how beautiful the wedding was and those who were from out of town were in awe of the beauty of the building. The price was great too. This is definitely a hidden gem of a venue in Pittsburgh!
I has a difficult time choosing a venue until I saw the Grand Concourse! Brian and his crew were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I cannot begin to explain how much I LOVED working with them! The venue is beautiful and they staff was so easy to work with! All of my expectation were met & I was so happy! They even worked with me to fit all of my 230 guests into the main dining room! I am so happy with how everything turned out! I cannot thank Brian & the Grand Concourse enough for make our wedding day the BEST DAY EVER!
The Grand Concourse Restaurant is the ideal venue for the bride who wants something unique and leave their guests with an indelible memory of your reception. The space itself is absolutely breathtaking and ideal for any size wedding. The sales manager, Brian George, is amazing and so easy to work with throughout the entire planning process. The food that was served during the cocktail hour along with dinner were simply “out of this world.” The service was absolutely top-notch! I cannot sing their praises enough – I wouldn’t have changed a single thing about our reception.
I had my bridal shower at the Grand Concourse and it was fantastic! They helped my mom plan it every step of the way and answered all of her questions, and customized the menu to what we wanted. They got us everything we needed that day to set up, and as guests arrived they made sure everyone was served and attended to. We had it in the back room along the river and everything was beautiful.
Thank you to Brian and the team for making my shower amazing!
We had a very private, intimate wedding at the Grand Concourse and am SO glad we chose it as the venue. Brian is the event coordinator there, and he was great to work with. We had a small, private room near the piano(which was playing throughout our entire event!) and it was very elegant yet comfortable and relaxed. The food is great there, and they also arranged the cake delivery directly so I didn't have to worry about a thing on the day of the wedding. Another bonus of having your wedding here- the amazing interior of the restaurant is great for photos! Especially if you are worried about rain, there are plenty of great and unique spaces in the restaurant to take photos.
The price was reasonable for us compared to some other places we had looked. We ordered off the menu because we had a small number of guests, but we did pre-order a few bottles of wine and some appetizers, all of which were arranged prior to our arriving that evening. One thing nice about the venue is that they didn't seem to tack on little fees for everything like some other places tend to do for weddings.
You just can't beat the atmosphere here, plus the proximity to the Sheraton hotel for guests and the local scenery for photos. Overall, I highly recommend the Grand Concourse and staff!
Brian was excellent; food and service was excellent. Very happy with the Grand Concourse and if had to do again, I would still choose the Grand Concourse ! A minor issue with a server as the evening ended.
very nice place a bit costly
The perfect location for a wedding with a historical sense of elegance. An Edwardian style building with ornate stained glass and marble staircases were the perfect backdrop for our wedding reception.
Wow, where to begin with this venue. They were utterly spectacular!!! We truly felt like royalty and so did our guests. The Grand Concourse is so unique and opulent, and our guests were blown away by it, the service and the food. Janet, our event manager, was amazing!!! She went ABOVE AND BEYOND in every way. She guided us through the planning and made sure every detail was taken care with an end result of a reception night that flowed so perfectly well. It was an epic evening! (I will admit Brian, the manager, although nice was a little more vague with answers and follow through than you might want when planning such an event; however, Janet and the rest of the staff hit it out of the park!!! 5 stars are truly not sufficient for the perfect night they gave us.
The Grand Concourse is nothing but perfect. Our wedding was fantastic and a majority had to do with our reception venue. Working with Janet and Brian over the last year was nothing but a joy. Every time we went to visit they made us feel like we were the only wedding in the world and treated us like gold. Janet provided more of a family and friend feel rather then my vendor. This helped to make our event that much more perfect. This place was always a special place to go to dinner or brunch while I was growing up. It now is extremely special because of my wedding. We received tons of compliments for the appearance of the venue to the service and especially the food. Not one complaint!
With the outstanding reputation the Grand Concourse has I thought for sure it would be way out of my league for a wedding with a budget. But I was amazed and surprised at the willingness to work with me and my 60 person wedding. They didn't nickle and dime me for every little service.
My next issue was being able to plan this event from Colorado. Janet took my call or returned my call everytime! Answered every question and even gave me suggestions for things that other brides had done when using there facility.
I can't say enough about Janet and her staff that worked my wedding. I provided them with an agenda/timeline for the days events and they followed it to a tee!! They consistantly asked me if everything was to my liking, if I needed anything, etc.
My now husband and I will enjoy visiting every time we are in Pittsburgh to visit family. And BTW, their Sunday brunch buffet is only rivaled by breakfast at DeLuca's in the Strip District. (You locals know where that is. :)
