My husband and I used Graul's Ruxton for our Sep 2024 wedding. The customer service was excellent, the price was great, and all of ours guests raved about the cake... We've been to 25+ weddings and take our cake seriously! We requested an 8" two layer display cake and a full sheet cake for cutting (155 guests). I emailed Graul's a photo of the decorative piping we wanted, discussed flavors, set a pickup time for the morning of the wedding, and that was it! Couldn't have made a better decision.
We used Graul's market in Cape St. Clair. Sirena met with us and was so helpful and they did an amazing job on our cake and delivery to the venue. I highly recommend them!
Our cake came out looking great. Everything we wanted in its appearance. It tasted great too, though we did notice the flavor of icing between layers was not what we had ordered. Still tasted great, but we had ordered the raspberry buttercream filling and got regular buttercream. Not that big of a deal, everyone still thought it was delicious. We had also ordered pumpkin and lemon bars that everyone enjoyed and cookies. The cookies didn't get delivered originally, but our wedding planner corrected that problem without my even noticing.
Grauls Market in Annapolis did an amazing job for our wedding cake. The pricing was WAY cheaper than any other local wedding bakeries as well. We ordered a 2 tiered cake and big sheet cake to be cut for all guests, and Grauls delivered the cake no issues. For tasting, they gave us a free tasting kit to take home with multiple cake/filling/icing flavors to decide our combination which ended up being amaretto cake with raspberry filling and buttercream icing. We ordered about 6 months in advance by going into the bakery, discussing sizes, emailed them a picture of the design we wanted, and they ran with it. On wedding day, we had the cake served to guests, and everyone loved it!
I am so happy we went with Graul's for our wedding cake! Not only was it the most reasonably-priced cake vendor I could find in the Annapolis area (by a lot), the cakes we got were beautiful and amazing. I worked with Sheena at the Annapolis location and she took the rough design idea I had (based on a couple of pictures I emailed her) and turned it into reality. I wish I could post a picture of it here! We got tons of compliments on the two cakes we chose (one almond with raspberry filling that was tiered and one sheet cake of marble with chocolate ganache) and it was delivered to our location with no issues. I would recommend to any bride and groom looking to get an amazing cake at an amazing price. (Also, their tasting was fun - we picked it up from the market and were given samples of each of their 6-8 cakes and 6-8 fillings/frostings so we could mix and match different options and choose the perfect combinations!)
This cake was amazing! It was a big hit and people could not believe it came from a grocery store. Would definitely recommend.
We got our wedding cake from the Graul's in in Mays Chapel. The cake was delicious and the price was very reasonable. With the purchase of your wedding cake, they give you a voucher to come back on your first year anniversary and get a new top portion of your cake instead of the traditional custom of freezing. I thought this was a very unique touch.
As much as we love Graul’s Market, I hate to say I was disappointed with our wedding cake. I wish I could give 5 stars however I can only say the flavor was great and it got delivered to our venue in one piece. Initially we only wanted a 2 tiered round cake, but in order for them to deliver, our cake had to be over $300. Since we didn’t want to try to deliver it ourselves, we splurged for a 3 tiered round cake, way more cake then we actually needed. In our consultation with the baker we showed her pictures of what we wanted - big icing roses with dark green vines and leaves cascading down the sides. The baker said no problem it can be done. On our wedding day I was shocked when I saw our cake. Our big, three tiered cake looked like it had been left to the last minute to decorate. It honestly reminded me of a grocery store birthday sheet cake decoration. Our cake only had 5 tiny icing roses with little petals in two places on the cake. No decoration on the top. It was just very sad looking for a wedding cake. Thankfully my day-of coordinator found a way to make it look more decorated and our guests enjoyed the flavor. To sum up, Graul’s has great cakes however just make sure they know EXACTLY what you’re looking for. We emailed pictures of what we were looking for and that clearly wasn’t enough direction for them.
Graul’s Market in Ruxton’s bakery is Baltimore’s best kept secret! I grew up in Baltimore so their Ruxton location wasn’t too far from us. Growing up, my favorite birthday cake was their almond pound cake with almond buttercream icing. So when my now husband and I were thinking about cake options for our wedding I knew immediately that Graul’s was one of the places we had to try. Turns out they were the only bakery we need to try. My husband, who is not a cake person, drooled over the almond pound cake – so it was decided. Our wedding cake would be almond pound cake with almond butter cream icing. It’s such a favorite of my family’s that my mom ordered a sheet cake of the almond pound cake for my bridal shower. She also ordered their scrumptious red velvet cake with cream cheese icing for our rehearsal dinner. If you are looking for a cake with the perfect ‘crumb’ and icing that is to die for, look no further. Graul’s is your place!
Dream wedding cake at a dreamy price! We also ordered a dessert tray from them to put on the table with our cake and our guests LOVED it. We got so many complements! We went to the May's Chapel location. You might hesitate to order your wedding cake from a grocery store, but we still got a private cake tasting experience and a great finished product. Graul's is amazing!
Grauls was able to fit us in at the last minute and made us a beautiful 3 tiered wedding cake. The sugar flowers and piping on it were beautiful and better than I could have imagined. I’d highly recommend them!
I was quite disappointed with how our cake turned out. Unlike most girls dreaming of their wedding dress from a young age, I had always dreamed about my cake and how I knew it would be from Graul's. Please don't get me wrong the taste was as I was expecting, which is always delicious, but the actual execution of the cake was horrendous. It was tilted, looked like it had been smooched in areas and like the icing was coming out from the inner layers. When the cakes you can buy for a fraction of the price clearly have had more time spent on them to make them look pretty, you know there are issues when you spend over $500 and it looks like crap.
Hands down the best value you will get for a wedding cake, reasonably priced and incredibly delicious! The actual cake was even better than the tasting, everyone loved It! Grauls also delivered to York PA for an extra fee, which was another plus. Highly recommend!
Graul's Market wedding cakes are one of the best secrets in the business! While a lot of bakeries charge ~$6-7/slice in this area, which would have amounted to $1000 for our 150-person wedding, Graul's provided a large cake at a very affordable rate. I believe our cake was $400, and we could have easily gone a size smaller--there was a huge excess of leftover cake, and plenty of guests had multiple slices. If you've heard that the best affordable cake option is a small cake to cut and sheet cakes in the back--forget that idea! You'll pay no less for a large cake at Graul's than you would have for that combo, and you won't have to compromise at all in the process.
Affordability aside, our cake was absolutely delicious! We loved that we could make each layer a different flavor: we chose pound cake on the bottom, carrot cake in the middle, and chocolate cake on top. The cake was so good, and Graul's even provides a complimentary anniversary cake *fresh* a year later (so that you don't have to freeze your top layer for a year!). My mother-in-law got cupcakes in the same flavors from Graul's for the bridal shower she hosted for me, and they were equally stunning and delicious as our cake itself. We highly recommend a cake from Graul's!
We chose Graul’s bakery for our wedding cake because my parents used them 34 years ago and still rave about how delicious their cake was. All these years later Graul’s did not disappoint! We loved the cake tasting because we were able to schedule a time to pick up the cake flavors (in cupcake form), icing options, and filling options, take them home, and mix and match them to decide which combination we liked the best. The cake itself was delicious and the simple buttercream icing with 3 white roses on top looked beautiful. We would highly recommend Graul’s!
I got my wedding cake from Graul's Market in Hereford, and it was beautiful! I asked them to make the icing look like twigs since I was putting flowers on the top of my cake, and they were able to make it look exactly like the picture I showed them. They had the most reasonable prices out of all of the bakeries we looked at by far, and their cake tasted the best! We had a four tiered cake with each tier a different flavor since we could not decide on just one! They also gave us small cakes for free to try at home for our cake tasting. That was definitely our favorite part of the wedding planing.
Our cake was beautiful and tasted delicious! We choose the almond pound cake with buttercream frosting! I also got a sheet cake with a picture of my husband for the grooms cake. Our guests raved at the taste! Megan was awesome to work with, she is a busy lady and always found time to answer my and my mother's questions! We. Would totally use them again!
Graul's did a wonderful job on our wedding cake. I just wish I had a chance to eat more!
We booked our wedding cake with Graul's and it was delicious! The whole experience was great. We went to the Roland Park location and had a tasting, which was fun and very yummy. We picked red velvet cake - normally they can't use cream cheese frosting because it is too heavy for such a large cake - but they worked with us to make the top layer cream cheese frosting and the rest buttercream, so we could get our favorite frosting without weighing down the cake. We dropped off the cake toppers in advance and on the day-of, the cake arrived on time and ready to go, exactly as we wanted. On our one-year anniversary, they are going to mail us a small version of our cake - we are already excited for it! The price was great value, the best I found for a wedding cake, and I think it tasted much better than many traditional wedding cakes. We highly recommend working with Graul's for your wedding cake!!!
So many of our guests said that our wedding cake was the best cake they had ever had. Tiara was so sweet and helpful throughout the whole process and our cake turned out beautiful. We can’t say enough how delicious the cake was - most of our guests went back for seconds and thirds! Grauls also made us several pies for our dessert table to offer guests another option and those were delicious as well. They were much more reasonably priced than any other bakery we looked at and our cake looked so beautiful and professional. Our guests were literally raving to us about how delicious it was. We couldn’t have made a better choice!
We saw a picture of a cake at a Bridal Expo and the staff at Graul's was able to create the exact cake. We loved cakes from Graul's before the wedding and are enjoying all the leftovers now! A special thanks to Chris at the Mays Chapel location!
Disappointed...Dissatisfied...Disgruntled...Completely unhappy with our cake from Graul's. Our first meeting with Debra was great. She was well-informed, easy to work with and provided us with tastings of most of their cake and icing options. She even sketched a rough idea of the designs we wanted based on examples we brought, and quoted us the price. We never spoke with Debra again, and it was all downhill from there.
Based on our design, we had to provide most of our own decorations for the cake. When we dropped off our decorations two weeks before the wedding as requested, the decorator on premises proceeded to give us a laundry list of reasons why this was going to be a "very difficult cake for me to complete". She also then added multiple fees for the cake on top of what Debra had originally quoted us. We were leery of moving forward, but the other glowing reviews of their work led us to believe it would work out just fine. WE WERE WRONG.
When the cake was delivered the day of, it looked absolutely nothing like the designs (in great detail) that we had given the decorator. Amateur, clumsy, and downright UGLY was the cake they delivered. I can't believe the decorator had the audacity to charge us extra due to the "delicate nature" of our decorations, yet produce a heavy-handed and cartoonish final design. I was disgusted, appalled, and absolutely devastated by their work. I would suggest paying the extra couple hundred dollars that you save by using Graul's, and put it towards a bakery that knows what they are doing, and can deliver on what they say they can do.
Grauls cakes are delicios! and so affordable, a cake for 125 people with 3 different layeys was less than 400 dollars and was beautifully designed. The deliver was right on time. I could not have asked for a better bakery.
Our cake HAD to be Graul's. No one has better buttercream icing, and a Graul's cake is simply a Baltimore tradition!! We had a rum vanilla cake with buttercream icing. Graul's Annapolis did a great job decorating the cake in the style we had talked about and it looked and tasted delicious on the day of our wedding!
Absolute BEST place to get your wedding cake! I had my cake customized and delivered within an hour of my reception (which was outdoor in June, so we needed the small window of time!) The price was less than ANY other quote and the service was excellent. Me and three others tasted 5 or 6 varieties of cake before deciding. They were all amazing! Better tasting than any other wedding cake, hands down!
Grauls did an amazing job with our wedding cake! We did a three tiered cake and sheet cake- we had soooooo much leftover after each seat was delivered with a piece of cake (165 guests) We decided on three different flavors- lemon, marble and carrot! All we a huge hit with taste and the design of the cake was beautiful! We choose a simple design and although the gray ribbon color was not my exact vision it still was an absolutely beautiful cake and completely affordable!
Graul's did a great job. The cake was delicious and also beautiful. The process of ordering and securing payment was very easy.Would definitely recommend using Graul's for a wedding cake!
They did not have many flavor options, but the almond we chose was very good and they will work with you to create the design you want
PLUS you get a free "cake top" on your anniversary in case you dont want to save it for a year
The Parkton location was super helpful in creating an amazing cake. They were able to create a fantastic cake that looked like a birch tree. I was nervous because we could not find any online that were not super cheesy, but Graul's literally took the cake!
Besides looking amazing, it tasted amazing too! We are planning to use them whenever we need a cake, or need pound cake!
They allowed us to take samples home to try without the pressure of having someone sitting there judging your reactions.
Most definitely recommend!
There is a delivery fee, however, we ordered some lunch trays from them for before the ceremony, so we had family pick up those and the cake.
Great cake, friendly and helpful staff, and very reasonable prices. Highly recommend!
5 out of 5 stars: My wife (fiancée at the time) and I chose Graul’s simply because they offered a great selection of wedding cake options for a great price. First you’ll want to call and make an appointment to visit the bakery and taste the different cake flavors they have, an austere process. After you’ve decided on a flavor (we chose plain – tasted great), you’ll want to choose your size. Our cake was a Tier 3 cake that could feed 130-160 guests. Let me just point something out to everyone – we had 153 guests at our wedding – basically a third to a half of the cake was left over by the end of the evening. Not everyone is going to eat the cake; some people don’t even like cake to begin with (I know, they’re weird). Also keep in mind there are no gluten free options available at this vendor, only delicious gluten filled cake. I bring this up because my wife is gluten free and subsequently, we ended up baking a small gluten free cake for her and the others who couldn’t enjoy the bakery’s cake. The cake was delivered on time and looked lovely. We ended up adding flowers day of at the venue. Overall, I highly recommend Graul's; you won’t be disappointed.
The cake was tasty, simple, beautiful, and very pocket friendly compared to other places. Everyone raved about the cake. I don't think I will go anywhere else again for a cake!
The cake was delicious - better than other "true" wedding cake bakers and much less expensive. The decoration on the layers was just what i wanted, but i also asked for the sugar bow cake topper and i was really disappointed with it - it was much smaller than the pictures i'd seen and the loops in the ribbon were obviously broken and crusty - not cute.
I went to a bunch of bridal shows and was not impressed with what other cake companies have to offer. When I went to Graul's to try their cake samples after a family friend recommended it, I was sold! Our wedding was on July 7, and in the hot weather and holiday weekend, the cake looked wonderful and the delivery was perfect! We found a design we liked on Pinterest where we provided a list of the important people, places, and things in our lives, and Graul's was so accommodating to our unique wish! We went for the vanilla buttercream frosting flavors, and our guests loved it and devoured it. I am confident that anyone can rejoice in one of their many flavors. Go Graul's! Note: Their Cape St. Clare location offers the wedding cakes.
My family kind of has a thing for Graul's cakes and frequently have them for family parties, so I decided to go with them for my wedding cake. GREAT DECISION! The cake was so moist and delicious and the decoration was beautiful.
We absolutely love the cake from Graul's Market and it was one of the major requests of my husband to have our cake from them. They were friendly and willing to work with coming up with our own design, but I think we caught them at a transition point with change in staff which caused a minor miscommunication with the cake design, but all of our guests couldn't stop raving about the cake. Bonus: they also send you a small cake for your 1st anniversary as a courtesy (beats eating cake that has sat in your freezer for a year!). Should also warn you of fees for delivery, a minimum purchase amount of $300 for Sunday weddings for them to deliver, and no cake delivery after 12 on Sunday.
Reading about wedding cakes was making me crazy. Most of the lousy things I'd been steeling myself to expect were basically eliminated by Graul's.
We used the Mays Chapel store's bakery, and the folks in that bakery love a challenge - you bring them a picture, they'll see what they can do. They do tastings - and just use different types of (delicious!) pound cake for all their wedding cakes. And the people there are refreshingly down to earth, excited about helping you figure things out, and NOT trying to upsell you left, right, and center. The lady who did our tasting suggested things and drew a nifty picture of what it should all look like.
Delivery to our venue went off without a hitch, and a friend from college - the friend who taught us all it isn't worth drinking cheap stuff who has the highest standards in decadent food I know - complimented us because he had never had a good wedding cake before. And we paid half what we would have for a similar cake at another place.
I would give this place ten stars if it went that high. Thanks, Graul's!
We used Graul's for our wedding cake and for some pies as well. We thought everything was delicious! Ask them to make you oreo pie :) Good prices as well.
Loved the cake. It was exactly how I described what I wanted. It was also DELICIOUS. Can't wait to get my free cake on my 1 year anniversary!
We got our Wedding Cake (pound cake with buttercream icing) and mini desserts (cream puffs and black bottoms) from Graul's Market in Ruxton. Everything was delicious!! All of our guests were raving about the mini desserts. I gave them a picture of what I wanted the cake to look like and they copied it perfectly! I highly recommend them for cakes, desserts, or both!
The cake was great!! They were able to work off a picture to create the style I wanted also. The prices are totally reasonable.
We met with the designer Tiffany to come up with a grand design for our wedding cake. She was great to work with and she offered alot of ideas. The cake was look and tasted great.
Graul's was recommended by a friend and it didn't take long to decide that this would be our cake vendor. We even chose Graul's for the bridal shower cake. Our only problem was deciding which flavors! We presented our design idea and while it ended up being slightly off, it was just as beautiful as ever. My dad paid for the cake and even though he lives in another state, the transaction was very easy to complete. They also offered to make us a free 6" cake for our one year anniversary so we didn't have to worry about keeping and preserving the top layer.
Graul's did a great job with the cake - really listened to what we wanted. They kept it simple and it tasted great, and we had plenty left over to save, though they will make you a free mini-cake on your 1 year anniversary. My only complaint is that it seemed a little disorganized when we were tasting and ordering - we talked to a different person each time, and the lady we talked to didn't know that certain things had an additional cost (leaves made of fondant vs. whatever.... I don't even know) so we didn't find out till we were ordering. But they got everything right and delivered it right on time, so I didn't care in the end. People liked the cake a lot.
We started making plans for our wedding cake 6-8 months in advance. The cake baker assured me we had nothing to worry about. Then, three weeks before the wedding, we get a call from Grauls, saying that our cake baker had quit, and they had a new one now! Now, I understand this isn't necessarily Graul's fault, but it was a pretty horrible thing for us to find out three weeks before our wedding. We had to make our way BACK to Graul's, and have all the design conversations with the NEW cake baker.
Fast forward to the day of the wedding. My husband and I are in our limo on the way to the reception, when we receive a voicemail from the manager of Graul's. He called US (not the reception site) to tell us that he was standing outside the site and no one was coming out to help him bring the cake in, and he didn't know what we wanted him to do. ANOTHER heart attack caused by Graul's. He managed to walk himself in the door, and find people, but not before he had my husband and I freaking out making all sorts of phone calls from our limo, when we should have been worry free and enjoying each other's company.
so easy to work with. beautiful cake and delicious. We had no cake left at the end of the reception. That's a good sign.
Graul's has always produced great cakes for all occasions and our wedding was no different. Very easy ordering, and they provide a free cake for our one year anniversary!
My wedding cake was delicious and beautiful. It looked exactly like the photo of the cake I wanted that I gave Graul's. They were on top of things and delivered the cake to the reception without a hitch!
Our cake was beautiful and yummy! We did not have any cake left over because people enjoyed it some much they a 2 or 3 slices of cake. Amazing cake for a great value!
They let me do more than one tasting and the decorator was very helpful and friendly when picking everything out. The cake was a huge hit at the wedding. We chose red velvet and lemon. We did a smaller "wedding party cake" which was two tiered, a 10" and an 8" (red velvet on bottom, lemon on top) and then we had 2 sheet cakes for serving (one red velvet and one lemon). They were fantastic. They also had the cakes delivered to the Graul's store which was closer to my wedding venue. In total we paid $250 and that included butter cream frosting on both of the sheet cakes as well.
I highly recommend this store. They have an excellent Bakery that makes wedding cakes that are so delicious you will want a second piece! They were very professional, provided excellent service and quality work. Their cakes not only look good but really taste good too. They are very reasonable in pricing compared to most bakeries.
My wife introduced me to Graul's, she always requests them for her birthday cake. The wedding cake she seleceted was above anything imagined. They were the only vendor that would do three flavors. We had pumpkin, chocolate, and red velevt. It tasted great but it truly was a work of art as well. It was very reasonably priced too.
The cake was PERFECT! I went in there with sketches, supplies, and strange requests and they did it with a smile on their face. It was absolutely to die for and simply gorgeous! Exactly as I had dreamed!
Our Graul's wedding cake was delicious and it looked beautiful. We asked the bakery to model the design of the cake off of a floral design appearing on our invitation. It turned out wonderfully. We chose buttercream icing, and each layer was a differnt flavor, including chocolate, lemon, and almond pound cake. The cake tasted great and looked lovley. I would strongly recommend Graul's for wedding and other party cakes!
The cake tasted GREAT! The baker at Graul's was very nice and took all of my suggestions for a classically simple, non-standard (no sugary flowers or tacky bride and groom statues on top). The baker was more than willing to make each cake tier different (one chocolate with raspberry filling; the other mocha and chocolate). The design was modern and simple...just what I wanted. We ate the leftover cake for 5 days and it was still good!;Like other wedding cake bakers, you'll be shown a book of pictures of cakes from previous weddings. Skip the book completely and use your own unique design.
Our experience at Graul's was phenomenal. Their cakes are extremely reasonably priced, but they are not lacking in taste or design. You can choose between a multitude of cake types and icing as well as delicious cake fillings. (We had a regular pound cake with chocolate ganache and butter cream icing). You can pick one of their 'signature' cakes or you can bring them a picture and they will replicate that image. They even delivered from their Baltimore location to our reception site in Frederick. The cake looked fantastic and it tasted even better. Best yet, you get a free anniversary top so no need to freeze the top layer of your cake. Lastly, their are several Graul's locations so you may be able to find one closer to your location.;I do not have anything negative to say about Graul's.
Greatest cake ever
