We had a room block at Greektown for our wedding last month and were really happy with the service. The suite we booked had a great view, and when guests had questions or issues booking under our block, Ashley helped out. She was great to work with.
My husband and I had such a great time on our wedding day and the team working with us that night was so pleasant and helpful. They went above and beyond for our guests and it really showed in the stories we heard after. My mom and dad also couldn't stop talking about how helpful my event coordinator, Ashley, was with all of our communications. Honestly we couldn't have had a better person working with us.
Our friends and family only had good things to say about the place and everyone loved the filet especially! Even my grandma could not stop talking about it. Plus the view in our hotel room was breathtaking.
We originally picked this place because of having a hotel attached to our venue. We fell in love with the banquet hall and lobby. Plus the super fast response time and clarifying emails kept us on track! We absolutely loved how everything was set up for our big day.
Ashley is absolutely AMAZING! She went wayyyyy above and beyond to assist us with coordinating our wedding day! She was quick to respond to calls and emails, and was super on top of EVERYTHING! We cannot even day enough positive comments about her. She made our day everything we had ever imagined and more. Best of all, we feel like we gained a friend out of it! Not to mention, the room we rented for our reception was perfect! We had a lot of out of town guests, and our room was surrounded with windows so our guests could enjoy views of the city. The food was THE BEST food we have ever had at a wedding! Our day was perfect. Staff was friendly and wonderful. Would definitely recommend having your reception here!
We had our room block at the Greektown Casino Hotel, and thank goodness we did! We originally had our room block at a boutique hotel that was a bit closer to our venue but they were a nightmare to work with. We ended up switching to the Greektown hotel and they were absolutely amazing. We worked with Ashely and she really added a personal touch to our experience. At one point we needed an extension cord for our hairdressers and even though she was under the weather, she walked one up to our room! When guests had trouble making their room reservations, Ashley called them and walked them through it. We loved our experience at the hotel and highly recommend it to any other couple!
I don't have anything bad to say about Greektown but I don't have anything great to say either. They are a little slow at responses but overall it all worked out.
I am getting married this summer in Detroit. my groom and I were looking for hotels in the area to stay on our wedding night and for our out of town guests. we called several area hotels. Motor city never called back, MGM was two expensive, Greektown won. Sasha returned my call within 20 minutes, she was cheerful upbeat and truly seemed excited about helping me. Not only did she help with the rooms, but she was helpful with my other general wedding questions. Others hotels made me feel stupid! WEll THis is my first wedding!!! to accomindate our busy schedule (both my groom and I are in school)Sasha stayed until 9:00pm on a Friday to show us the hotel room options and when we ready to sigh our contract she came in on a Saturday. I wish that we found Sasha and Greektown before we picked our venue.
We had our rehearsal dinner downtown and stayed at greektown hotel that night and our wedding night. We reserved a room block for our guests as well. Customer service was very good. We had a gorgeous suite with a view of the city. Room service breakfast for the bridesmaids while getting ready was on time and good quality. The morning after the wedding we did a late check out option and had brunch at the restaurant there. They have a nice room you can use for large groups that we didn't have to pay extra for. It was a nice way to say goodbye to out of town guests. Overall it was a gorgeous hotel and they were easy to work with.
Emily Frederick was a fantastic Executive Meeting Manager. We are very lucky we were able to work with her in planning our wedding. Emily totally hooked up our forgetful bridal party with rooms at the discount rate after the book by date. We choose the Greektown Casino-Hotel for a few reason; (1) attached hotel, (2) downtown Detroit, & (3) they used the word Vegan on their menu. We had 205 guests at our wedding, Emily said the venue would hold up to 250 guest… we thought 205 was a little tight during cocktail hour and I think under 200 would be a good number. All guests of the wedding received complimentary valet service. The hotel guest rooms were fantastic. We had 40 rooms booked for the night of our wedding. We got GREAT feedback from all of our guests who stayed at the hotel. Our suite on the 21st floor had stunning views. The shower and bathtub were extremely deluxe. I also think that the double bathroom is a great idea. The girls got ready in the suite before the wedding and there was plenty of room to do makeup and hair! I would recommend having your wedding at Greektown Casino-Hotel just to stay in the honeymoon suite! The hotel (public) lobby is also beautiful for taking pictures as is the Greektown streetscape! The wedding spaces are on the 5th floor. They use 2/3 of the ballroom for the ceremony, cocktail hour is in the private 5th floor lobby, and then the entire ballroom becomes the reception space. This worked out well. The ballroom and 5th floor lobby are pretty spaces, nothing to rave about. For the ceremony we requested a unique seating arrangement with the ceremony taking place in the middle of the room and seating all around us. Greektown accommodated the ceremony really well. They also set up the room for the reception beautifully -- we provided the decorations and they arranged them as we wanted. For the drink menu we were able to select local champagne (for the toast) and local wine & beer (for the open bar). The bar also had name brand liquors. The bar got completely slammed at cocktail hour. We only had 2 bartenders for 200 guest! I went to another wedding after ours and they had 2 bartenders for 100 guest. I would suggest at least 4 bartenders for 200 guest during cocktail hour, during dinner and dancing 2 bartenders was just fine. During cocktail hour Emily (Executive Meeting Manager) stepped in to help serve drinks, did I mention she is awesome? The food was fantastic and they were extremely accommodating in designing the menu. We added humus to the appetizers menu (which included cheese, crackers, vegetables, and spinach dip). The set up for the appetizers was beautiful. There were more than enough appetizers. We went with the plated meals option. The meals --Bourbon Glazed Salmon, Chicken Piccata, or Roasted Vegetable & Tofu. We got lots of compliments on the food. We opted for a dessert display instead of coney dogs/ pizza snack. We didn't clarify what would be on the dessert display, other than we requested fresh fruit and baklava! Along with the fresh fruit, baklava, cannoli, and cookies they served cupcakes this disappointed me because cupcakes is what we had for wedding cake. I don't think any sort of cake (unless it is cheesecake) should be served at a wedding dessert display, because you don't want to compete with the cake the bride and groom selected! We had breakfast in the 555 bistro the next morning; we had the private room in the back for our guest-- it was also tasty.
When I went to book my room block for some reason one person thought another person was taking care of me and vice versa. Then a week later when I was trying to confirm it was taken care of they tried to charge me more per room. After showing them emails documenting that they both blew me off they finally agreed to give me the original rate and everything seemed fine. That is it was fine until my family starting trying to book and the agents got everything in my agreement wrong. After that got straightened out everything was fine until my wedding day when they wouldn't let me check in until after 4pm. Then they lost my uncle's valeted car so he was late for the wedding and the next morning they lost my cousin's valet car.
The bed was comfortable. That's the only perk.
Had my bachelorette party here and will never go back. All of my guests had to pay to park even though we booked 2 rooms! They never let me know this beforehand. Parking was horrible and the employees were very rude. The only thing that made our night were the bars nearby
Our guests loved the hotel. The service was great and the rooms are super modern. Highly recommend!
Emily at Greektown was wonderful! She was very detailed and knew exactly what I needed and wanted.
