I’ll start with the pros. It’s a beautiful venue with multiple locations for both the ceremony and reception. We also felt that the pricing was more reasonable than other venues. It’s also nice that there is a hotel on location for you and your guests to stay.
However, they were EXTREMELY disorganized. I have been previously married and had my first wedding without a planner and had no issues. If you do choose this venue, GET A WEDDING PLANNER. Communication was difficult and it was obvious that they were disorganized. On the day of, I felt there was no one there from the venue to make sure everything happened how and when it was supposed to. The champagne wasn’t ready for our toasts, and there were no forks when we cut our cake, so we couldn’t take the first bites.
I saved the worst for last. THEY DOUBLE BOOKED OUR CEREMONY LOCATION. A couple days before our wedding, we received a call stating that there was another wedding ceremony booked at the same time and place as ours. They were about to move the other wedding to an hour earlier, but that only gave them 1 hour to have their ceremony, take down their decor, and then our florist to come in and do our decorations. Our florist team was scrambling to get the florals up as fast as possible, but it still postponed our ceremony by about 25 minutes. This whole situation was extremely stressful and truly unacceptable. They did return our ceremony fee, which was appreciated. However, they tried to charge us for our hotel room on our wedding night even though it was supposed to be comped.
To summarize, beautiful and versatile venue at a fair price, but horribly disorganized and lacking in communication. If you do book this venue, get a wedding planner and stay in communication with the venue to make sure nothing goes wrong.

Whatever you do, DO NOT have your wedding at the Griffin Gate Marriott. This venue is the most unprofessional, disorganized, and downright embarrassing place to ever host an event. From the very beginning, we were passed around from person to person and nobody ever had the same information regarding pricing or what’s included with rentals. We were made promises in order to get us to book with them and it was very obvious it was all lies and manipulation. Our original venue we were supposed to have our wedding in was absolutely disgusting 3 days before we were supposed to have the event. There were ruined carpet tiles from flooding, bugs and cobwebs everywhere, mold and mildew on the walls. It was not fit to eat a meal in. Kelsey was our event coordinator (if you could even call her that) The entire process she was incompetent and unable to comprehend simple emails about headcounts and pricing that we had to tell her over and over and over again we’re incorrect. She was also non existent the day of the event so when they try to convince you you don’t need a coordinator because they have their own do not listen to them. We were supposed to have access to our venue at 8 pm the day before the wedding to set up our decor. They booked it out the day before the wedding and allowed that party to stay until 10 pm when they were supposed to be out by 8. We ended up having to take down the stage that was set up in their ourselves so that we could start setting up for our event. The day we arrived at our bridal suite, the AC was out and it was 90 degrees outside and their resolution was to bring up box fans to the room for an entire bridal party to get ready in. It took them 3 hours to get it fixed. The day of the wedding we were promised 6 golf carts to take the bridal party around in for pictures and that also was a false promise. We finally found one and then a manager came over and ripped the keys out of the golf cart and threw a temper tantrum about how we weren’t allowed to be driving the golf carts. The food was also served ice cold and they didn’t even have enough silverware for all of our guests. The list goes on and on why you should NEVER host your special day here. The best part of it all? They had the audacity to send us a bill for “overages” (that were again incorrect) and charged our card for them without our consent. RUN as fast as you can AWAY from Marriott Griffin Gate. If I could give a rating of -10 I would.

We had our November 2021 wedding at the Griffin Gate Marriott after having to postpone twice due to COVID, so over the course of 2.5 years we worked with four different event coordinators. Throughout the planning process, multiple postponements, and staffing changes (a frustrating experience to have to start the process from scratch over and over), our experience was relatively positive. Unfortunately due to the few negatives we experienced at the event itself, I have to say DO NOT BOOK YOUR WEDDING HERE!!!!! Further explanation of what happened is detailed below, but the actions of a few staff members completely ruined our wedding night and left us in tears. The joy of our wedding day was completely stolen from us, which I never imagined would happen, but I DEFINITELY never imagined the venue would be responsible for it.
Our contract stated our reception was from 7pm-midnight. During our final round of planning, we decided to have the "last song" at 11:30pm to give us some buffer time before the event ended. Our event schedule did list 11:30pm, but it's important to note our contract always stated midnight. At a point during the reception, we asked our DJ/Coordinator team to talk to our event coordinator and see if we could continue the music until midnight since we were running behind schedule and the dance floor opened late. This is a very normal request since almost all wedding schedules run late, so you would think a hotel group that specializes in hospitality and event planning would know how to handle this request. Our event coordinators had already left the event, so the question was directed to the catering lead, who approved us staying until midnight since our request was only involving music and dancing, NOT extending the bar hours or any other hotel services.
Sometime between 11:30-11:40pm, members of the hotel "security" team began to threaten the DJ to turn off the music or he would call the police. My husband was summoned over, and both my husband and the DJ reiterated to security that we were approved to have the music on until midnight. The security team was EXTREMELY rude with ZERO thought that they were starting an argument with a groom on his wedding night that was three years in the making. We decided to have the last song to avoid any further confrontation, so the music was off by 11:45, but the police were still called. The security team was on a power trip, the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR I have ever witnessed, and they were yelling and threatening my husband and many guests. Meanwhile, the catering lead (who approved us staying until midnight) did right by us and was defending us to her colleagues. That didn't matter, since they ignored her and continued on their power trip. Even the police announced they should not have been called and eventually left on their own.
The fact that this venue has awful, thoughtless people ruining a couple's wedding night is beyond my comprehension. We went through an extremely emotional time during COVID as many did, and this day was supposed to be the day we imagined finally happening after three years. It ended with staff members screaming in our faces and abruptly ending our own wedding. There were family members and friends we had not seen in years that we didn't even get to say goodbye to. We are left with the feeling that our unhappiness and anger at these events are not actually being heard or valued by Marriott staff.

As a wedding planner that works in both Lexington and Louisville, I was very impressed with the Griffin Gate for one of our couples this weekend. Leigh and her team went above and beyond to make the day a success. No matter what my team asked for, she and her team delivered and in a timely fashion. Would highly recommend them and look forward to working at the Griffin Gate in the future!

I had booked my ceremony and reception here. I loved it and the many venues on the grounds to host my ceremony and reception. Emily Tichner was my wedding planner, who worked for griffin gate, she is amazing. She helped make my vision come to life in the space we booked. Don’t even get me started on the food! It’s amazing! And the bridal suite!!! If I ever plan an event again I would definitely rebook at griffin gate Marriott and get Emily to plan it!!

The team at the Griffin Gate worked tirelessly to make sure my husband and I's wedding weekend a huge success! From our first visit with Jenna, through every site meeting with Morgan, we could not have asked for better service. They helped us make our rehearsal dinner at the mansion and our classic brunch wedding the perfect time for us, our family and our friends. I could not recommend another venue more!

Our wedding was last September, and thinking back on the day now six months later, my husband and I are still so glad we chose the Griffin Gate Marriott Resort and Spa to host our special day. It was wonderful that our guests could all stay in one location and visit with each other before and after the wedding - kind of like a family reunion since many hadn’t been about to see each other for a while! That made me feel great. The hotel and staff were so friendly and our accommodations were wonderful. We held our ceremony on the mansion lawn, and reception dining was inside the mansion while dancing was held on the patio. The day couldn’t have been more perfect. It was wonderful to be able to have everything for our wedding taken care of at one absolutely beautiful location.

Speaking as the mother of the bride: We had a few minor issues, but we really liked this venue! It was great having one place for the ceremony, reception and a place for guests to stay, especially for a January wedding. The wedding day was rainy, which caused the walkway to the pavilion to flood and get a little muddy. My husband got a little lip from the staff member who finally cleaned up the walkway before the ceremony started. And we never did get a heater for the pavilion entrance. But minor stuff, and the pavilion was beautiful. Morgan did a great job making the reception wonderful. The purple uplighting was fantastic! Food was great.

We had the best time planning our wedding with Griffin Gate. Everything went so smoothly. Jenny was great with answering my many questions and crises! Always very prompt and helpful. We had family with young children and it was important to me that they enjoyed their meal as much as we did ours and this was one of the few venues I found that offered an option for kids, so that was huge for us! My guests are still raving about how good the food was! I would recommend the property to anyone.

The Griffin Gate was the perfect place to host our April wedding. Over half of our guests were coming from out of town, and it was so convenient to have the reception on the hotel grounds. We held our reception in the Paddock Pavilion and the space worked perfectly for us. We had 160 guests so the room felt full but not crowded at all. Leigh, our Event Manager, was wonderful. We planned the wedding from Chicago and only had one meeting at the resort prior to the wedding weekend, but she was very responsive and made us feel very comfortable during the planning process. Leigh really understood our needs and helped us think through all of the details, many of which we hadn't considered! All of the staff we encountered during our wedding weekend were great, including the bellman, valet, banquet captain and bartenders. I was worried about the food being generic "convention" or hotel food, but everything was excellent! We received many compliments on the food and were very happy with the options available (guests had the choice of prime rib, chicken with sundried tomato sauce, or salmon). The drink package was also great and they easily accommodated a few changes we requested.
The resort itself is lovely, and we were able to take photos in the Mansion before the ceremony - those pictures turned out wonderfully. The lobby bar was a popular gathering spot for our family and friends, and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet as well. I would recommend the Griffin Gate for a wedding or special event, and would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful ground and several venues to choose from. Mostly everything is included in the price including catering, linens, set up, and take down. Being such a large facility, we thought they would be a bit more organized. We also had our rehersal dinner here for convience and it was nearly a disaster, however the wedding went well. My advise, have the rehersal elsewhere.

I absolutely would recommend Griffin Gate for your wedding! We were lucky enough to work with Shari Florence (also mentioned below) who made the whole experience seamless and fun! She was always prompt, friendly and accommodating to all of our needs. In addition, the dinner staff was great! They made sure everything went off without a hitch and all of our guests were happy! The best part: after the reception several of our friends came back to our suite for some drinks...we were a bit loud, so instead of kicking us all out, they let us use a meeting room on the main floor so that we could continue celebrating without bothering any of the other hotel guests. Marriott's service was WAY above and beyond.

Everyone at the Griffin Gate Marriott was so friendly and helpful. We had an amazing site coordinator who helped us every step of the way. Helped us find some vendors and doubled checked with us to be sure we were happy. She was always available and incredibly helpful the whole weekend.
There is no venue cost, only a minimum amount that you are required to spend based on which space you use; all the linens, dishware, glassware, silverware, and tables are included at no extra cost.
I highly recommend this as a wedding venue!!

The service and staff at the Griffin Gate Marriott are top notch! We worked with Courtney Jones and Shari Florence. Both ladies responded promptly to any questions/requests that we had, and let me tell you there were a lot!! :) We planned or wedding from 1500 miles away and Shari made the whole process seemless. She listened to everything we said and detailed every miniscule thing in our banquet event orders.
The service staff the night of the wedding were excellent as well and everything went off without a hitch for dinner.
The front desk and bell staff were very hospitable and made sure that all of our guests were well taken care off!
We would recommend this venue to anyone!

I had my ceremony and reception at the Blue Grass Pavilion and Patio at the Marriott and it was absolutely beautiful. The Marriott team took care of all the set up, tear down and catering and it make the day so much easier. I only had to worry about getting ready and having a great time - which I did. The Marriott will assign a coordinator to each couple and they help coordinate everying. The food was absolutely amazing - all my guest commented about how good the food was which helped make me feel relieved that everyone was enjoying themselves. I had a smaller wedding - total of 85 guests which included the wedding party. For this size wedding, the cost aligned perfectly with our budget and help relieve a lot of my stress of trying to plan everything. The tables, linens, china, bar, food, dance floor was all taken care of by Marriott which cut down on the amount of vendors I needed to coordinate. They also let us use golf carts to drive around the golf course for our wedding pictures which was awesome - this help cut down on the amount of time we had to spend away from our guests. I would highly recommend Marriott to any couple.

We had our wedding on the Mansion Lawn and held the reception in the Terrace Ballroom. We had about 110 guests and the space was perfect. We had no major issues with the Marriott and when small issues arose, they were easily taken care of by the wonderful staff. We worked with Leigh Dalton and could not have asked for a better coordinator!! She was very responsive, helpful and thoughtful. She was always listening to our thoughts/ideas and was always eager to offer suggestions she thought we might like. Everything turned out perfect and was better than we could have hoped for. Plus they allowed us to take pictures inside the Mansion, which turned out beautiful! They only downside is everything is expensive. But we knew that going into it and we definitely got our money's worth.

The staff at the Marriott were FABULOUS!!! From the spa to the bellmen everyone was so friendly accomodating congratulatory and helpful! We had a PERFECT day even though the weather was not as cooperative. The Mansion Restaurant allowed us to take photos in and outside which made our setting beautiful! The food was amazing and the bar made our signature drink (pomegranate martinis) a hit. The wedding coordinator Lindsay was excellent to work with and she never missed anything that I requested and even threw in some extra touches! I would do the day over and over again if we could because everyone had such a great time!
