Halyards Catering

Britany was our contact person and she handled all our questions with grace. She was wonderful to work with and made the experience more fun. The food was fantastic. I got tons of compliments on the food. Having great food was a priority of mine for the wedding and Halyards delivered. We had a buffet and there was more than enough with plenty leftover. Which is fantastic because I have lots of big eaters in my family. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again for another event. In the meantime we will be visiting their restaurant to get our delicious food fix.

When we first saw a picture of Village Creek Landing, we knew it was the perfect wedding venue for us. The beautiful vistas made for some wonderful pictures and our guest enjoyed the views as well. My husband and I are outdoors people and we couldn’t imagine a better place for our wedding day. The venue is associated with Halyards catering and they coordinated all of our rentals from the tent, tables, chair, dance floors to all of the dishes. The Halyard group made planning a destination wedding from Texas easy. The staff prepared everything exactly as we indicated and set up everything at the ceremony location (a wooden gazebo) and the reception tent including tables, our items (guest book, guest gifts, our décor etc), and we didn’t have to worry about a thing. If there were things that didn’t go according to plan, we didn’t know about it. Halyards has many dinner menu options to select from, but they were also willing to customize the dinners to fit your guests. Halyards prepared some wonderful appetizers that we served upstairs in the house and a meal that everyone loved. We selected the low country boil and asked that a few chicken dinners were prepared for our guests that do not eat seafood. We also had Halyards add some extra vegetables and bread to the meal so our vegetarians had plenty to eat too. The leftovers were boxed for us and we enjoyed the meal later in the trip. At the end of the night, the staff had all of our items from the day gathered together in one place to make our part of clean up easy. We only needed to put our stuff into the car. We would recommend both Village Creek Landing and Halyards Restaurant to anyone. We had a perfect wedding and couldn’t have asked for more from Halyards.

Halyard's "pastry artist" (no really, he is) Chef George created our wedding cake based on custom flavors we selected that weren't on their menu. It was exceptional, and he walked us through multiple tastings to get it just right. Our first cake tasting was immediately after our food tasting, and we were already hooked on Halyard's. Imagine our surprise when the first of three gorgeous little cakes they baked for us was dry, ice cold, and just... dull. My fiancee (at the time) and I looked at each other and back at the yellow cake, disappointed. The second pound cake was no better, and we were definitely bummed out. The third cake, however, was the one that we had specifically requested--chocolate with a liqueur--and it was magical. I am not usually a chocolate girl, but this chocolate-amaretto blend was perfection. We pushed the first two to the side and told the catering manager that we wanted the chocolate amaretto cake, with an espresso mousse filling for my husband. Even though it wasn't on the menu, she gladly accommodated. We didn't plan on another tasting before the wedding, but my parents decided they wanted to see the venue and the restaurant, so we ended up at a second tasting. This time, Chef George accidentally made the same white pound cake that we had the first time, except with the amaretto flavoring and the espresso mousse. However, our catering manager told us that this cake had been out thawing for a while before we arrived. We were disappointed when we first cut into it because of the experience we had with the first tasting, but this cake was in a league of its own. It was delicious. It was so good that I tried to convince my husband to change his mind to the pound cake, but he stuck with chocolate. The catering manager was extremely apologetic and offered us another tasting, but we couldn’t make it back before the wedding. HOWEVER, it was extremely refreshing to know that the only problem with the two little cakes we had the first time was that they hadn’t been properly thawed out from when they had been made. I have no doubt those first two cakes would have been as delicious as this one was if they had just been given a chance! The wedding day arrived, and the cake looked exceptional. I was so nervous about having a wedding cake that was crooked or with a bad pattern since Halyard's doesn't specialize in wedding cakes, but this was completely worth it. The details of the cake were spectacular even though we had not given them a specific example of what we were looking for. As expected, the taste was out of this world and we are still getting compliments three weeks later! As an aside, we had quirky bobblehead cake toppers and Chef George spent the time after the cake was delivered very carefully placing brown sugar around their bases to make it look like they were standing in sand. It was perfect. Since we also used Halyard's Catering, our event manager cut and served the cake free of charge, which was a great plus. In the end, our beautiful decorated, incredible flavored cake only cost us $5.00/slice, which was a huge deal based on everywhere else we looked. I'm thrilled that we went with Halyard's.

Ahhhhh-mazing! The venue was perfect and Jessica was a doll to work with. Food was delicious.

I chose Halyards Catering from reputation, and when I tasted their food - we signed without tasting anyone else's food. Their food was so great, that they made me like mushrooms (I've never liked them before). My contact at Halyards was personable, informative, offered recommendations and insights. She offered quick responses to emails - great for someone planning a destination wedding and is not in the same part of the country. My guests raved about the food, and even the service of the food and bartenders.
