It seems like the universe sent us the perfect officiant. Hannah Desmond of Heartlight Weddings performed the Native American blanket ceremony for us, a shorter version. I understand the official version is much longer. Hannah was early to the venue and well prepared. Her husband took some of the best pictures of our little ceremony. We added music with our blue-tooth speaker. The spontaneity of our ceremony reflected our personalities, and showed Hannah's ability to work with us on short notice. David and I loved how Hannah was able to make our wedding the spiritual union it is, with reverence, and fun and light hearted at the same time. We will always remember Hannah and Tom fondly with gratitude that they could meet us on a rainy Saturday and make our little wedding come true before our license expired at the Historical Hendersonville Train Depot. I'm grateful to Katrina Addison for recommending Hannah Desmond and Heart Light Weddings. The Knot is the best at making connections!
loved the officiant and her husband's energy, life story and the ceremony...it was perfect...
Hannah was amazing and was so helpful after we lost our first officiant. I absolutely loved the handfasting ceremony.
Hannah was absolutely fantastic!
I loved her personality and what she brought to the table which was confidence, ease, peacefulness and joy. Our elopement/handfasting was exactly what we envisioned. After our meeting in person she understood what we wanted and us as a couple. The meeting never felt forced or awkward. It couldn't have possibly been a better venue, ceremony and officiant. Hannah brought her own magic. I would and will recommend her to anyone in my area even considering getting married or eloping.
Awful. Please do yourself a favor and do not consider this vendor. Hannah seemed very personable and helpful all the way up to the week of my wedding. I do not wish to go on and on so I will try to just hit the lowlights: She was and hour late to our rehearsal. She said that she took a wrong road, which is okay and things happen, but an hour is really ridiculous. We were not that mad, even though it made an awful impression on my whole wedding party, we decided it was just the rehearsal so its no big deal (once she arrived she did very little and it cost $75..). The day of the wedding she called my groom and asked if the ceremony was at 5pm. It was at 4. And the ceremony itself was not good at all, it makes me want to cry thinking of it. She messed my first name up twice, and then mispronounced my new last name (OUR NAME!). She also read off of a plastic sheet, with no enthusiasm at all. We had worked with her extensively on the script of the ceremony, trying to strike a good balance between our religious an nonreligious families. On the phone she was so nice, and we decided to add a reading from the bible and I felt it was perfect with that. SHE DID NOT READ IT. She read a version we had edited, that was not even close to what we agreed to do. Her and her husband took a ton of photos without asking, and she asked if WE would like to file the certificate! I took it, as I no longer trusted her, and she left so quickly like she was late for something! Not worth the money at all! I am embarrassed to have her name on the certificate. It put such a damper on the most important part of the day, it cannot be undone. I confronted her about all of this once I had time to cool down and speak logically. She refunded the measly $75 for the rehearsal and said that we never "got over" her being late to the rehearsal and that made us get off on a bad foot. Please, please do not use them I do not want anymore brides to experience this.
Wonderful interactions leading up to wedding and perfect ceremony. Best decision we made, going with HeartLight Weddings.
Mrs. Hannah is AMAZING!! I planned my elopement almost 5 hours away, never have gone to Asheville before. She was so helpful in finding me a perfect location, giving me various suggestions. I absolutely love where we eloped, and knew I seriously couldn't have done it without her.
I love the fact she gave us options on what best fit us for the ceremony vows. She is very prompt, and down to earth. I would HIGHLY recommend this company! Thank you again Mrs. Hannah :)
Heart light weddings performed a ceremony for me recently. I could not have been happier. Hannah took the time and worked with me several times to help me write my vows. She is gentle and gave me so much information. She presented as a total professional. I would (and have) referred her to people.
Well the good news is our paperwork was filed by Hannah and we received our marriage certificate and all is well. However, we were a bit disappointed that when it came time for us to exchange rings during our 10 minute ceremony, Hannah did not know our names, or have them written down. She had to ask each of us what our names were mid-ceremony. We are pretty lighthearted people so we laughed it off and didn't make a huge deal out of it at the time. Then, when the short ceremony was over and she went to announce us as Mr. & Mrs......she did not know our last name and again had to interrupt the ceremony to ask us. We totally understand that mistakes happen and we aren't all bent out of shape about it but for $250 for such a short ceremony I feel knowing our names during the ceremony should be priority #1.
UPDATE - I had given Hannah a generous 3 star review on a wedding vendor review site. Unfortunately she responded in a way that seemed to cast the blame on myself and my wife for her not knowing our names. From her response: "I did approach you prior to the ceremony to introduce myself and see if you had any last minute questions or concerns. You were not interested in speaking with me and walked off. Possibly a short conversation would have made your name more prominent in my mind." This is absolutely mind-boggling. I guess its our fault that we didn't ask you if you remember our names after you accepted our $250 payment for 10 minutes of work. I stood and spoke with you for at least five to ten minutes at the altar prior to the ceremony. The fact that you are blaming us for your lack of professionalism and lack of ownership in your profession is pathetic.
Hannah Desmond was helpful, calming, and professional. She prepared and delivered a beautiful non-denominational wedding ceremony for us. She also was incredibly easy to work with and very flexible. She does weddings in the Asheville, NC area as well!
Rev. Hannah officiated our 11/11 nuptials at the majestic Oak Alley Plantation. From the initial contact all the way through the pronouncement, Rev. Hannah has been an absolute blessing. She was more than accommodating in our ceremony preferences and offered amazing insight and input into our blessed day. I highly recommend Rev. Hannah for anyone looking for a unique, customized ceremony!
We had decided to write our own ceremony and Hannah did an awesome job with the ceremony. She pretty much let us do whatever and when we need to make last minute chances it wasn't an issue. She was very nice and I was really happy with her service. Frankly we could not have done better being that she was the best choice.
