I actually booked this venue without visiting it because there were very few dates left. Wow, did I get lucky. This venue was for my daughter's wedding and it is absolutely beautiful. The venue is unique and special. We held the ceremony in the stable with the clydesdale horses sticking their heads out. The lighting with the door open to the mountains made it a special touch. The cocktail space is beautiful and then the reception space was perfect. Craig Nargi and his staff were so professional and accommodating. It truly was a magical night and I would recommend this place to anyone. We were also able to hold our rehearsal dinner there and then enjoy their delicious craft beers.
Hermitage Hill provided the perfect location for our ceremony and reception. They honestly had it all. We had an automatic back up plan in case of bad weather and the staff was so accommodating with setting everything up for us. Since 90% of our guests traveled in from out of state, being able to have the ceremony and reception in one location was key for us. We could not have picked a more beautiful location. Our guests were amazed by the rustic but elegant local and loved interacting with the horses during their "carrot cocktail hour" while the wedding party was taking photos. The staff was extremely easy to work with and Craig was there to help in any way possible. They even kept the fire pit out back going all reception long for our guests to enjoy the sunset by the fire and s'mores! Hermitage is really the best choice of venue in the Valley! You can't beat the price, the value, and the unique experience!
We are so happy we chose Hermitage Hill for our wedding venue! The views are absolutely breath taking and we lucked out with gorgeous weather on our June wedding day. We loved how versatile the venue is with so many beautiful areas to keep guests entertained all in one space. The mountain views at the ceremony site are unbeatable. Our guests loved the uniqueness of the cocktail hour in the stable feeding the horses and later enjoyed incredible sunset views from the back patio overlooking the farm fields. Our favorite photos were taken in the beautiful rows of hops vines - which is another view unique to this venue! The reception space is an excellent size and design and easily accommodated our 175 guest count with a perfectly sized dance floor. Another experience unique to Hermitage Hill was being able to partner with the head brewer of Stable Craft Brewery to design a unique beer for our special day. They made the process so fun and we participated in every step from selecting the ingredients, to grinding the grains and stirring the brew. Other features of the venue we enjoyed were the beautiful bar, the separate sitting room for a gifts and guestbook area, and the convenient bridal suite complete with huge private bathroom. Overall, our wedding was beyond incredible and we owe a huge thank you to Hermitage Hill for providing such a beautiful setting for our big day!
My wedding at Hermitage Hill was a dream come true! The venue is beautiful with mountain views, and despite rain on my wedding day, even having the ceremony inside in the horse stables was so beautiful! All of my guests told me how much they loved the venue and getting to interact with the horses during the cocktail hour "carrotini".
The owner Craig is an awesome guy and very much a visionary... He's always looking to improve things and make things grow. I can only imagine how much more awesome this wedding venue will be in the future! Lisa in marketing is also amazing. She keeps everything organized and she truly was a joy to work with... Definitely highly recommend this venue for your wedding! :)
We were extremely happy with Hermitage! The venue was beautiful and everything was just perfect. Craig does a great job taking care of his bride and grooms by making sure everything is by the books. And Lisa was a joy to work with. She was a huge help and super encouraging to work with. We loved having our wedding here.
The staff was very easy to work with during the planning process and the day of. All of our guests said that it was one of the most unique wedding venues that they had been to. I particually liked that we had the venue form 9am-11pm which allowed for ample time for setup and for all of our vendors to arrive and complete their jobs. The beer from stable craft brewing on premises is excellent! We had our ceremony in the stable do to rain but it turned out even better than outside. It was very quaint and comfortable, and the rain on the metal roof was romantic. The horses peaking out of their stalls during the ceremony was very cute.
We found Hermitage Hill after visiting a bunch of venues. We decided to go with Hermitage Hill because of the experiences and professionalism shared by Craig. This place offers so much more for the price and is absolutely stunning.
Craig was perfect, answering every question with candor and poise. You can tell his experience was shining through as he described how our ideas could be managed into our wedding theme. Hermitage Hill provides more for the rates and doesn't have a pile of extra charges. The staff was there to assist with questions but wasn't noticeable although they kept the place presentable, the fire place going and arranged the tables and chairs. The horses were so fun for our guests and kept everyone entertained between the ceremony and reception. We loved our experience, cudos to Craig and Hermitage Hill.
I've had the privilege of attending a couple of events at Hermitage. Each time the facility has been awesome, the food exceptional and the staff nothing but the very best.
This place oozes the sophistication and class. If you want the best you want to book an event here.
This place has it all. Blue Ridge Mountains, Rolling hills, Beautiful horses, and a reception/venue room that gives big city locations a run for their money. It is an all season venue(AC and heat). Large glass doors that give a breathtaking views of the mountains(whether they are lush green or snow covered, they are in a word, WOW!)
There is a bridal suite for the bride and her party to get ready. A patio with a fireplace, authentic barn feel, with a classy upscale attention to detail.
I can go on and on, but I have to say that I have attended events here, hosted events here and planned events here at Hermitage Hill and I would not recommend any other place to my clients. Why? Because all vendors that come onto the property are vetted and screened for insurance coverage's as well as a current business license( to protect everyone). The contract is clear and concise and leaves no doubt as to what you are getting and mostly what is expected from the renter( the party paying to hold their event on this private property). As a former lawyer, I validated all of this prior to sharing this place or allowing my clients to sign anything.
Now, don't get me wrong if you want shoddy work, uninsured vendors and liability risks, then this place is not for you, BUT, if you want a beautiful atmosphere, nice views, picture perfect backdrops for photos and not have to worry about things, this is the place for you.
***My favorite, and this part always gets my clients booking here, is the cocktail happy hour with the horses for the guests while the wedding party is taking their pictures. Carrots for the horses and a carrot colored beverage for the adults that is just to die for...
Now, the owners are strict and that is fine, as I have seen many of the venues in this local area and they are lawsuits looking for a place to happen. no need to add anymore to this.
Now for all of you who have chosen to continue reading my essay on this amazing place, nestled near the mountains, there are two other posts on this site that are not very nice, and I can say that these two parties are just unhappy or disgruntled because they did not get something for nothing and did not like being held accountable for their or their guests actions. I have never used REAL candles at this venue as if the wax does spill it will work its way into the crack of the wood and it is a nightmare to remove.. There are always people in this world that want something for nothing and unfortunately that CHOSE to sign a contract and hold their event here. I say to them, shame on them for not taking care and doing what was needed...
When choosing this venue or any other ones in the area, review the contract, the vendor list, verify insurance and business license and you will find that this place is far above the normal standard for country living in the Shenandoah valley. You will not be disappointed. And, (shameless plug) if you need someone to help you with your wedding, holiday party, retirement party or whatever your fancy I will gladly assist you in your planning.
I searched for a wedding venue for months and couldn't find just what I was looking for until I stumbled across Hermitage Hill Farm while searching around on the internet. We went for a tour and the minute I saw the venue, I knew we'd found our place! I can't thank Craig enough for working with us to make sure our day was perfect. Our guests are still talking about how gorgeous the venue was and how much they enjoyed feeding and interacting with the beautiful horses during cocktail hour. This is such a unique, rustic, romantic venue with amazing views of the mountains. I'd highly recommend Hermitage Hill Farm & Stables to any couple!
I cannot say enough about the service, quality, and professionalism demonstrated by owner, Craig Nargi, and his staff at Hermitage. If you're looking for a country reception, I would highly recommend Hermitage. The barn is extremely clean and well manicured. The reception hall has the most beautiful view and rustic decor & the overall experience is top notch.
My wife and I wanted to have an outdoor wedding and we couldn't have had it at a more beautiful place than at Hermitage Hill Farm & Stables! We had looked into a couple of local vineyards and when we were there the reception areas seemed small in comparison. I was nervous about this event but the professionalism displayed by Craig Nargi made it possible for me to relax because I knew that we were dealing with a real pro and that he would make sure that the whole thing came off flawlessly. He was also very helpful and patient with us in helping us to make this day very special. We wanted to exchange our vows at sunset and Craig was so kind as to go to the trouble of finding out what time that the sunset was on that day...the timing was perfect! The prices are very reasonable for a facility of this caliber and the million dollar views are thrown in for free. The cleanliness of this place is impeccable. Craig's wife Nikki was also helpful in suggesting places that were perfect for taking pictures which turned out amazing. If you're looking for a place to have your wedding or just your reception I can't recommend a nicer place than this or a more courteous and professional staff than you'll find at Hermitage Hill Farm & Stables. This is definitely a first class operation....Thank you Craig Nargi for making my wife's dream wedding happen. When our daughters get married we'll be giving you a call.
If you are looking for a venue with style and class and something that hasnt been done by every wedding you have been to--this is the place!! The views and scenery are gorgeous and organic. The owner Craig and his wife are there to help you every step of the way. Everyone raved about this place and plans to re-visit for one reason or another. This place is a true jem!!
As a bridesmaid in a wedding at Hermitage Hill Farm and Stables I was thoroughly impressed with the venue and staff. When my dear friend (the bride)told me where she was getting married, all she could talk about was the views at this venue and how excited she was for the horses to add a unique touch to her wedding. The day of her wedding it was a rainy spring day. The ceremony had to be held inside the barn area of the venue. Craig Narig immediately took control and had every detail of and outside wedding moved inside. The guest would have never known the wedding was originally planned to be outside due to Craig's attention to detail and perfectionism on moving this outside wedding inside. This is one of the many assets you get with working with Craig when you plan your special day at Hermitage Hill Farm. Thank you Craig Nargi for making one of my dearest friend's wedding day so special and a day every bride dreams of!!!
If you are looking for the perfect place to have your wedding and reception look no farther than Hermitage Hill Farm & Stable. They say no wedding goes off without a hitch and ours was no exception. I was using my wedding consultant’s father as the minister and both of them had a family emergency and were unable to attend my rehearsal and as a panic bride to be I was coming un-tied at both ends. Craig stepped in to save the day and walked us through a normal ceremony a couple of times with a few variations so we would not be caught off guard. He played both minister and consultant walking us through the whole ceremony. He knew where to place each person and what order things were to happen in. The day of the wedding everything happened just like Craig had showed us at rehearsal it was like a minister and consultant had been there for everything. Everything was perfect and looking back I would not have changed a thing!
What a blast! We chose Hermitage Hill in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia because we loved the area, it was easy for our guests to get to from all over the east coast and there are so many things to do in the mountains. We actually hiked the Appalachian trail!
My special day was full of surprises, my now husband with out me knowing added so many special touches to our celebration and I later found out the owner, Craig at Hermitage Hill helped Kurt to find all these fun unique and special details. While I was getting ready in the bridal suite to walk out with my Dad, I heard what I thought was an organ, No Way! but it wasn't, it was bagpipes and the sound was so overwhelmingly beautiful. As we were saying our vows I noticed two black horses approaching with the most amazing cinderella white carriage and it pulled up to the ceremony site and as Kurt walked me down the aisle he helped me into the carriage and had my favorite drink ready by the carriage driver. Everyone was cheering and I cried because I had no idea and how special this truly was!
We took a 15 minute drive and returned to the cocktail party with the horses to find a string band playing rock n roll songs bluegrass style in the stable. Too much fun and almost missed getting pictures with my grandmother who was off in the carriage taking a ride Kurt had arranged.
When we entered the reception room there was a full band with horns playing a song that Kurt and I used to make fun of, but it so awesome!
The catering service, a gorgeous cake by Cathy and all the staff were just stunning on top of everything. We danced the night away taking breaks on the patio where we had hot cider and fresh organic donuts being made right there as a late night treat. My family and friends were so in awe of all the unique touches!
I thought my photographer had finished and gone for the night, but she hadn't because we have the best pictures filled with bubbles as we were leaving in our town car. Kurt arranged for six bubble machines that absolutely filled the air, you have to see our pictures to believe it!
Kurt spilled the beans and told me on the way to our hotel that night that Craig, the owner at Hermitage Hill had found each of the vendors. You would have to know Kurt, he took every suggestion and made it happen.
The farm, the stable, the horses, catering, donuts, bagpipes...breathtaking experience and so much fun! All the best to you Craig and Hermitage Hill-Thank you for a life long memory!
We are helping plan my buddies big day and wanted to find something really cool for all the groomsman to do the morning of the wedding beside golf.
I called Hermitage Hill and spoke with Craig and asked for suggestions, without hesitation Craig recommended skeet and trap shooting at a close by range and BAM, it was on!
This guy even hooked us up with the best places for getting breakfast at a local country store and a party bus so no one had to worry with driving or getting to the wedding ceremony on time.
The plans are all set, contracts made and Craig followed up to add a few other stops for the day that included a big surprise for the groom as a present from all the groomsman.
Hope you join us on the shoot Craig and thanks for all the advice.
Was able to see how Hermitage Hill held a wedding when I attended a friend's recent event. So fabulous. My fiance loved it too. The horses were so beautiful and other guests enjoyed feeding them too. I noticed that everyone at the farm was friendly and helpful to the bride, groom, and family. We had already met Craig, and he was on top of everything at the site. We are so happy we booked our wedding here!
We were going to rent a tent and have our wedding on our family farm. By the time we cut grass for weeks and cleaned up, made a parking area, rented a tent, tables and chairs, porta potty (NOT!) and a dance floor the price was getting out of our budget then we found out we needed to rent lights and a stage for the band and tent sides if it rained. We were sad this blew our plans.
My friend came to the rescue and asked why I wanted all that stress for my dad to get everything ready plus all the work he is already doing at the farm.
We did not think we could afford a venue. SURPRISE! Hermitage Hill is less cost than the tent idea and we did not have to worry about rain.
What a great spot for our wedding. We are boarding my two horses on the wedding day and Nikki the owners wife is going to brush them out for our pictures.
The bridal suite is perfect for my Mom and bridesmaids and the air conditioned reception room is perfect for the band and all the dancing fun!
My dad was so pleased I found this place and all of our family and friends I know will have a great time. Thanks Craig, you were so helpful.
When my husband and I searched many wineries and vineyards and found that the time we wanted, early afternoon for our ceremony was too early in the day for the tastings rooms and we were told we had to wait to after 4 or 5pm. We also found that most wineries advertise enough space for groups of 200 but can't fit everybody in one room.
We found Hermitage Hill and the owner responded to my e-mail so fast I thought it may have been an auto reply, but it was actually the owner! I was so impressed with the super fast reply plus the all the amazing pictures so we set an appointment to visit. They easily fit our guests list size and allowed us to choose the ceremony time, which was 2 o'clock in the afternoon.
This place is so amazing, the mountain views are in every direction, the surrounding farms are beautiful and the reception room is cleverly placed in the middle of the stable and they have back up plans for rainy weather.
The sunset during our visit we must have taken a million pictures (and again on at the wedding day) then we were taken to visit the bridal suite and that did it! The suite is decorated with horse prints and pinterest worthy horseshoe towel holders. It had everything to make a day getting ready so easy, big mirrors, full bathroom with a shower and even a bar table for girls cocktails while getting ready. One of the best savings is that they include tables and chairs for both the ceremony and reception, and this gave us more of our budget for the caterer.
We even got to meet Morroco the Cydesdale who is so cute. My family and friends absolutely loved this place because the way you enter the lobby which looks like a resort amenity, then into the stable for the carrots and cocktails which is spotless for a barn and then you open these doors to walk into a really huge and air conditioned room with beams and a chandelier my husband could not stop inspecting, then onto the patio and fireplace which is visible from the moment you enter, it just made sense. This farm is laid out so well to capture the moment as you move from space to space We are so excited we found this spot that we booked the same day. Everything Hermitage Hill included was perfect and ready, our guests complimented over and over how much fun and how nice the venue was! Super cool owner packed with so much knowledge...He doesn't tell you he was a resort chef for years until you ask. My friends from New York are booking here too after coming to our wedding! Thanks Craig for all your help and sharing your wonderful farm for my wedding!
After many months of planning and many questions venue, catering, hotel accommodations, music, flowers you all know the drill my daughter, myself(grandmother)and granddaughter (bride) decided on Hermitage Hill Farm as the venue for her wedding. Unique elegant gorgeous and oh soooo helpful. I don't think we (I) could have survived this process with out the help of Craig (the owner) he was so helpful answering all our questions and offing advice and solution's to all our dilemma's. The day was wonderful, the horses were beautiful the food (prepared by Craig) was to die for. My granddaughter said that her dream wedding was perfect.
THANK YOU THANK YOU
Craig and all your helpers for a beautiful memory.
Happy Grandmother
I was dying to see this farm because of all the beautfiful pictures that have been taken there. When e-mailed, the owner told me that the month I was interested in was booking up very fast. I asked to come over to tour the facility that day. When I arrived, the owner "greeted" me with saying, "so, you were so hellbent to come over here today?" After that, I didn't care what the farm looked like or the fact that he was even showing me around. My mind had been made by that horrible first impression.
When searching for a wedding venue, we looked at everything from vineyards to mountain top retreats and just happened to stumble on Hermitage Hill. I thought my fiance surely wouldn't go for it, being the city guy he is, but he was all for it! We were instantly sold on the "carrots and cocktails" concept. When will your guests ever attend another wedding when they get to FEED the horses?? Our guests were floored, and I haven't heard a negative review from any of them. Everyone was in awe at the entire concept.
The setting was absolutely perfect, nestled within the Blue Ridge Mountains! The weather was perfect (which Craig had no control over), but we knew if need be there was a backup plan.
Craig (the owner) is a wedding planner disguised as a farmer. He will answer any questions you have, help you plan anything, recommend vendors, and answer emails or text messages at all hours of the day!
Everything about our venue and experience here was a dream come true, we could not have asked for a better setting for our perfect day. And I've already recommended them to other brides-to-be!
I had my wedding reception here and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Craig Nargi is incredibly helpful and will work with you and your vendors to make sure that the day goes off without a hitch. I must have emailed and called him around 20 times in the months leading up to the wedding and he always answered my questions and offered advice. After the wedding many of my friends and family remarked on what a great facility it is and the beauty of its location. If you're looking for a well-kept, organized, yet rustic venue for your wedding, then Hermitage Hill is the perfect choice.
Craig Nargi is the very professional & very knowledgeable owner/operator of the farm and was willing to work with us every step of the way to make sure our experience at the farm was perfect for us. It ended up raining on our wedding day but his staff quickly had a backup plan that ended up being even better. The reception hall is gorgeous and could easily be used for a casual or more formal event. The only thing that ended up being a bit of a hassle was that I had to provide my own linens, dinnerware & eating utensils. Overall I was extremely pleased and it was the perfect venue for one of the most important days of our lives!
We held our November wedding at the stables and in the process of planning everything Craig, the owner, was a huge resource. I have to say that his input was priceless. We valued any input he gave us. He knows what he is doing! The ceremony was able to be held outdoors due to the AMAZING 65 degree weather that day and everything was set up as promised. After the ceremony the guests were lead into the stables where cocktails were served and guests fed the horses organic carrots grown by the facility. They then were lead into the reception area which was set up as recommended and the outdoor fireplace was beautifully lit! I cannot say enough about the beauty of the surrounding area and the facility itself.
Well thought through on Craig Nargi's behalf.
We are so happy that we chose to have our ceremony and reception at Hermitage Hill Farm and Stables. The whole process from booking to the day of the wedding was easy and painless. Everyone there was responsive and helpful with everything we needed. Any question I had was answered completely within a day. We live in NOVA, and I was worried about having the wedding an hour and a half away but the owners were wonderful and took the worry away. The day of the wedding, more people than we had expected showed up and they had extra tables and chairs set up (with my center pieces) in the reception hall before the end of the ceremony.
The whole venue is beautiful! During the ceremony the back drop is the mountains, and the stable and reception hall are beautifully woodworked. My guests are still going on about how wonderful the venue was! It was unique and beautiful, adults and kids alike LOVED getting to feed the horses. My favorite pictures are the ones we were able to take with the horse.
If you are looking for a unique wedding venue this is it!
Amazing place for reception! Stunning views. My guests and I loved this venue! Craig was also very helpful. I am so glad I picked this venue!
The owner worked with us the entire way. He gave ideas on other vendors. Tables and chairs were provided and set up. I didn't have to worry about rain... because the venue had easy access to a back-up indoor plan. My only suggestion would be to have a bigger bridal dressing room with an AC unit that blew colder.
Our experience with Hermitage Hill was amazing. After searching the area for a place for the wedding, a place for the reception, and a caterer, we came across Hermitage Hill after a caterer said we should at least go check it out. I am extremely happy we did go. Seeing the place, my now wife was moved to tears. It fit us perfectly. We decided pretty much then that we would have the wedding there. After talking to the owner, it was evident that we could also have the reception there, and that led into discussions on having the rehearsal there, which the owner agreed to. Through talking with him, his experience and knowledge of the catering industry became very evident, and we began to trust him and his expertise very quickly. We thought, since he seemed so professional and knoledgable, that we should just let him cater it as well, which he agreed on. So we ended up using Hermitage Hill for the rehearsal, ceremony, and reception, and he catered both the rehearsal and the reseption. He was extremely obliging, very easy to work with, extremely professional, and the entire weekend was in his hands. The venue and the food were simply amazing. I have heard nothing but compliments from the whole weekend. I would highly recommend Hermitage Hill to anyone and everyone.
This place is an AMAZING place to have your wedding ceremony! The staff was more than courteous and more than willing to do whatever it takes to make your day a success! The guest were in love with the horses during the cocktail hour and loved the scenery. It is not expensive and comes with its own tables and indoor/outdoor chairs which saves you money!! Overall, I will definitely rate this location a 5/5!! Craig Nargi/Staff 5/5!! Scenery/Horses 5/5!!
I was having a horrible 3 days before my now husband and I found Hermitage Hill. We had not 1 but 2 reception halls back out on us in a 3 day period about a month before the wedding. My husband started calling around a found out about Hermitage Hill and went to give it a look. He knew it was the place for us and knew I would love it. We went that evening and I loved it. It is beautiful, the setting the venue and the horses add a touch that the kids love. I can't say how much it ment to us and they were avaiable that weekend. They set up the tables and we got to set up the day before. This is a wonderful venue for a reception and a wedding. I hope that everyone that uses Hermitage Hill will be as pleased as we were.. Thank You Hermitage Hill for making our reception so wonderful and I hope yall got to enjoy it as well.
This is a unique and beautiful facility in a wonderful setting. We just had our wedding reception here and it was great. All the guests raved about the place--from the horses in the stable to the large reception room, outside patio with the stone fireplace and amazing mountain views. It is a great place for a great price. You can also have your ceremony here, but we already had decided to use a church. Definitely check this out if you're looking for something different from the typical hotel reception hall.
