What a slice of heaven! Location, furnishings, dining, service, property - every aspect of Hill Farm Inn absorbed our fatigue and stress and replaced it with serenity and happiness. We especially loved the candlelit dinner in the barn event space. Perfect attention to details blended with the rustic simplicity created a magical energy.
What a wonderful trip! We loved our stay at The Hill Farm Inn. The buildings are beautiful, the room was perfect from the great linens and comfortable mattress to the nicest bathroom of any hotel or Inn I have stayed in. The common/lobby areas were large and relaxing, we loved the darts and pool table as well as the fully stocked bar with great beers on tap. The porches had breathtaking views. There is a pool, hot tub, fire pit, mountains and trails to explore and even alpaca’s out back. We had a group dinner in what they call the Event Barn but it is not really a barn it is a stunning rustic but elegant event space/wedding venue. They took such good care of us and the meal was 5 stars!
Another big highlight were the staff at the Inn. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home. They are locals that know the area and the best shopping, restaurants and hiking spots. The breakfast at the Inn was delicious and again they took such good care of us.
We are already planning a return visit! Thank you.
Beautiful lodging and facility but the service was unwelcoming. This is a portion of an email I wrote to the staff below as to a response from a very unprofessional email written to my niece and her husband. It is unfortunate that such a beautiful place has individuals that are very unwelcoming. They are not equipped to deal with a large group.
I went to the front desk on checkout day after my niece told me she was charged extra for excess trash disposal and towel destruction due to makeup on the towels. I went to the front desk to receive my final bill and ask about the policy that charges for excess trash and destruction of a towels due to make up. I spoke with Taylor. She couldn't nor wouldn't show me the policies. I asked her to show me on the website and she couldn't find it. She got flustered and said to just look in my confirmation and it was stated in the confirmation.
She refused to show me a policy on this matter and stated that the inn was not responsible for taking out excess trash and that the inn was short staffed and could not handle it. I told her that I was not responsible for the inn not having enough staff. She stormed off and walked away.
Unfortunately, when my husband asked about trash removal, your staff told him to leave it outside. He wanted to put the trash we compiled in a rubbish bin or a dumpster. There weren't even kitchen size trash bins or regular size trash bins on site. He looked and the only trash bins that were on site were in the rooms which were the small bins, one by our bed and one in the bathroom.
We compiled trash in bags and put it on the steps outside of our room and in the general meeting area outside of our rooms. The maid did not come by and remove our trash even in our small bins, we did. We also had to get extra towels for our room and went to the front desk for those since our room only had towels for two people and not four people. We did not have an iron in the room and had to ask for one of those as well.
In regards to the makeup on the towel that my niece was accused of ruining, it also was not stated in policy on the website or in the confirmation. Hotels, inns, airbnb's and motels usually have facilities to clean towels by bleaching them. If they do not have this ability, they have, what is called a, "Make Up" towel specifically used for makeup. If it is not there then the only towels available are the ones in the room.
The only information sent regarding a policy was that there was no smoking on the grounds. I do not smoke so I followed these policies but was treated as though I smoked when given a lecture during breakfast about smoking. Other patrons who broke this rule should have been dealt with appropriately.
We were never made to feel welcome by some of the staff. For example, during breakfast, we heard the staff complaining that the guests all came down for breakfast at once and should not have done that. We were told breakfast was between 8:00AM to 10:00 AM. The inn's breakfast hours were provided and as a guest, we came during those hours. This should not have been a problem but the staff in the kitchen clearly felt we should not have come to breakfast during the stated hours given by the inn and the upon check-in. The last day my niece's friend heard your staff talking badly about the guests while she was eating breakfast.
It was an unwelcome environment.
My husband and I could not have asked for a better experience getting married at Hill Farm Inn. I get tears in my eyes just thinking about our wedding weekend there. The property is stunning and there are so many different scenic spots to choose from for the wedding events. We had a guest list of about 80 in July, so chose to set up our ceremony outside, followed by the cocktail hour on the porch/inside the Main Inn and dinner/dancing in the reception barn. Kate and Christina were such a pleasure to work with and so organized. I am a planner by nature and it takes a lot of carelessly pass on responsibilities, but I felt so comfortable with the HFI team. They went out of their way to help and did it with such care and attention to detail. In addition to the wedding day, we hosted other events at HFI including our farewell brunch on Sunday. The grounds, accommodations and food are all amazing. Additionally about half of our guests stayed onsite and were so pleased with their experience. This was our dream wedding weekend and venue, and I can't imagine having hosted it anywhere other than Hill Farm Inn! Our guests keep telling us it is the most beautiful wedding they have been to.
Hill Farm Inn is amazing! My husband and I were married at Hill Farm in September, and we thoroughly enjoyed everything that the Inn had to offer. The decor is updated and bright, the rooms clean and comfortable, and the grounds are beautifully maintained. We loved being able to have our families with us for the entire weekend, and we all enjoyed the fire pit, delicious breakfasts, open deck spaces and outdoor pool and hot tub. The wedding barn is wonderful, and the lawn provides a great space for a large tent. Christina, Kate and the staff team truly went above and beyond to make our wedding weekend a truly memorable experience!
Hill Farm Inn is beautiful and probably a great place to stay for the weekend. For a wedding, I recommend couples look elsewhere, as they just don't have weddings figured out yet and just seemed overwhelmed by the process. We booked our wedding at Hill Farm and 6 months later had to cancel and find a new venue and change our date because they were so difficult to work with. In this six month period - after signing an initial site fee, contracting with other vendors and sending out our save the dates - they backed us into a corner by requiring to pay additional fees we did not agree on, including raising the coordination fee, asking us to split the cost of a bathroom trailer because their bathroom wouldn't be working, renting additional tables that were supposed to be included and deciding after months of back and forth that they could no longer cater our rehearsal dinner because it was too stressful. Throughout the process, it often took weeks to get in touch with someone and we felt like a bother rather than like we were working with a venue that wanted our business or to help us create a memorable weekend. There are plenty of other beautiful inns in the area - save yourself from the massive wedding headache we had to deal with.
