Working with the Hilton made my wedding so easy and amazing! Michael did all of the set up the morning of and all we had to clean up were things we didn’t want thrown away. It was such a nice and easy experience. My only issue arose with my room block, multiple times we had to call to add more rooms, but the hotel was accommodating and allowed us to add rooms until the end of the block reservation time. I would recommend this hotel to anyone for their wedding!
We had both our ceremony and reception at the Hilton Garden Inn and loved every minute of it! Their staff was great and they were able to accommodate all of our needs. Would highly recommend!
We made the decision to have our wedding reception at the Hilton, because my husband and I are both from the suburbs but wanted to get married down at U of I. The Hilton was a perfect accommodation for this, because we were able to book a block along with our reception hall. Despite how beautiful the Illini Ballroom was, what really made this wedding venue special for us was the Events Director Michael. He is one of the kindest most genuine people, and he was so incredibly patient and helpful throughout the whole process. Michael truly made the magic of our reception happen - he is amazing at problem solving, accommodating, and just being patient and understanding. I would 100% recommend this venue for a wedding reception! Thank you for everything Michael! :)
I had an amazing wedding reception at the Hilton Garden Inn. I would highly recommend the location as they provide various options for wedding reception packages to meet your budget. Michael, the coordinator, was extremely professional and detail-oriented, helping my now-husband and me to consider aspects of the event we would have otherwise overlooked. Michael went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the look of the room, the products he recommended, and with the food. He even provided his own computer to help show our wedding slide show as we did not know we were supposed to bring our own laptop. Michael helped us create a detailed schedule of our day and stuck by it! He was great!
The staff at the Hilton Garden Inn were professional and helped make sure the requested mirrors were clean and candles were lit at the correct times. Front desk staff were also great about providing gift bags from us to our room block guests. We had positive experiences with dining at the Hilton Garden Inn for brunch after our big day as well.
One of my few complaints would be that we had to be very proactive about scheduling meetings. In-person meetings were most helpful for us in making progress with solidifying details. If you do not want to take the lead on scheduling meetings, you may be a bit stressed in this process. Michael was great, but was obviously very busy and did not respond promptly to e-mails at times. Despite this, everything worked out, but if you are a nervous bride/ groom who needs swift response times, this would be important to know. Hilton Garden Inn is busy! Additionally, Michael recommended Let's Party linens and they did a poor job (completely wrinkled linens that looked cheap and unprofessional). Their chair covers were great though. Michael personally steamed the head table linens to try to make this right, but other workers mentioned that this is an ongoing problem with Let's Party so I was disappointed in this recommendation. Finally, we booked the room under an old package name. The shift to the new packages was confusing and it was difficult to figure out what we were paying for/ what was included. Hopefully this last complaint should not be a concern for anyone booking in the future as the old packages probably don't exist anymore.
Over all, I had the best reception I could imagine at the Hilton Garden Inn. It was budget-friendly compared to other venues in the area and staff were always professional and willing to answer our questions. I would highly recommend-- just make sure you plan ahead, don't use Let's Party linens, and request clarification if packages/ menus change again!
We had our wedding reception at the Hilton, and it was wonderful! Not only was the venue fantastic, but the service from top to bottom was fantastic. Jenny and Shelby worked so hard to make sure the logistics were perfect and the wait staff were so sweet and helpful. Everyone had a blast! :) They did all of the decorating for the reception and coordinated with my DJ and the lady baking our cake and everything was perfect.
Our out-of-town guests enjoyed the hotel stay as well and the discount offered for the wedding guests was super helpful.
Would definitely recommend this venue (especially Alumni Hall) if you are looking for a wedding reception venue! :)
I couldn't be happier we booked our reception at the Hilton Garden Inn Champaign-Urbana! Their wedding coordinator Jennifer was so flexible and accommodating with all of our special requests and truly helped make our big day one of a kind. We had a few minor issues with our hotel block, but every time something came up, Jennifer was on top of it and always helped resolve the problem. Jennifer and her staff did ALL of the decorating for our reception, and it looked absolutely perfect! The food was great and the wait staff were very attentive and polite. The hotel rooms were very nice, new, & comfortable, and they gave us a great deal on our block rate. Overall, we had an excellent experience with the Hilton Garden Inn, and would highly recommend them. Wedding planning is stressful, but having a great team like Jennifer and her staff in your corner makes it a whole lot better!
Jenny and her staff were wonderful to work with. They did all of the setting up for us just the way we described it and we didn't have to worry about that at all. They made the room look beautiful and just the way I had pictured it. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious, and it was a wonderful night.
The Hilton went above and beyond for our wedding day. We had both our ceremony and reception there and they executed both perfectly! The reception looked so elegant and even better than I had pictured in my mind. We worked primarily with Jennifer, one of the coordinators, and she was amazing! Always open to our requests and very accommodating. We had some weird preferences and they were all about providing something a little different than everyone else! Our dessert didn't arrive until 1 hour before the reception and they had it all ready to go within minutes! Can't wait to have my sister's wedding here in just a few months!
Our daughter and her husband held their reception at the Hilton Garden Inn. All the staff were polite, helpful and friendly. Butler passed signature drinks and appetizers were a hit. The meal was delicious! And our accommodations at both the Hilton Inn and Hilton Homewood suites were excellent. Thank you for helping to make this joyous occasion so memorable!!
I had my wedding reception at the HGI and everything was great. Jennifer is amazing and helped with all the details. She is very attentive and very easy to get ahold of. I had to do most of the communication through email because I live in the Chicago area which made me initially a little worried but everything turned out better than I had imagined. All the staff was very polite and professional and I got nothing but complements from my guests. The food was excellent and our signature drinks that we picked were the hit of the evening. Everything was set up and taken down for us all we had to do was drop our stuff off and pick it back up. The reception I thought was going to be the most stressful part of the wedding planning and it honestly was the least stressful. Jennifer was able to answer all of our questions, make suggestions for things that we were unsure about and make all of our visions a reality. You definitely cannot go wrong with having an event at the HGI.
The staff were incredibly accommodating and super nice. Our consultant was very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend!!
They are so easy to work with. I loved working with them, they set everything up, the fix problems (didn't have any that I heard about), the room looked beautiful, easy to work with, I can't say enough good things about the Hilton = LOVED THEM! They really wanted my husband and I to feel like it was our day. Loved the food, you get to try and pick food at meet the chef days (so worth it and fun).
Caitlin Mooney and her staff did a great job at helping me planning my wedding. She worked will with vendors (some in the same town and some out of state- La Tee Da Flowers, Tyler Texas) to make sure my day went perfect. She took the time to get to know us and listen to what we really wanted. It was nice to know that on the day of, it would be perfect. My husband and I agree that if we were to do it again we would definitely go back to the Hilton Garden Inn.
Working with the Hilton Garden Inn was wonderful from start to finish. The entire staff is very professional, welcoming and accommodating. The venue was wonderful. The food is very good. I loved being able to pick out signature drinks. The rooms are beautiful and perfect for an elegant wedding.
There are not enough positive adjectives to describe working with the event planner, Caitlyn Mooney. She was so approachable, enthusiastic, responsive, professional and creative. I loved being able to sit down with her a few times to plan out our reception ideas. And, she is totally encouraging of new ideas and creativity. From our initial meeting to the actual wedding day we felt very taken care of. I had nothing to worry about the week of the wedding because Caitlyn and her staff handled everything. It wasn't the wedding of our dreams, it was the wedding beyond our dreams! Totally amazing! Would choose it again every time.

We had a very good experience with the Hilton Garden Inn, especially Caitlyn Mooney their wedding coordinator who went above and beyond to make our wedding our dream wedding. We are both Hispanic and wanted a menu that reflected our taste. Their chef worked very hard to customize a menu for us and it turned out great! There was some confusion during the planning process as their “Diamond all inclusive package” turned out not to be that all inclusive. However, during the reception the staff was remarkably good, the service was great and everything was exactly as I wanted, to the very detail. Worth every penny! A couple of minor incidents during the reception were handled very promptly, which demonstrated their ability to handle large events. Also Caitlyn’s surprise gift in our room was a very nice detail. It was a beautiful, memorable night,I would recommend this venue to everyone!
We had our wedding reception here on 6/23/12 and everything was perfect! We live in Chicago so we had to do a lot of communication over e-mail. Our coordinator, Caitlyn, was amazing and was so helpful and reassuring at every step along the way. She even coordinated with my florist and cake baker and I didn't have to worry or double check a single thing on the wedding day. The hotel and banquet staff were both so welcoming and accommodating throughout our weekend. My guests even commented on how sweet and polite the servers and bartenders were throughout the entire evening. We felt absolutely spoiled. It's really an amazing deal when you consider how top-notch the service is throughout the entire process and how seamless the actual event was. Caitlyn even put together a "to-go" box of food in our hotel room for after the reception - which was so thoughtful and sweet and turned out to be an unanticipated necessity for us. I would definitely recommend having a reception at the Hilton.
My husband and I had our reception here July 21, 2012 and I couldn't have asked for anything more. The whole facility made us feel like they went above and beyond for us. Always helpful! From the first day we had went there to start our meetings we always had a good time. They had set everything up and tore almost everything down that day which actually made it very Nice the day of our wedding because I didnt have to worry about being there at all. Cailtin Mooney had definitely made our day what it was. The friendship that my husband and I created with caitlin was awesome. We told her what we wanted as she also came up and helped us with ideas along the way and had everything perfect the day we walked in :) it was beautiful. The service all and all was amazing. We also really enjoyed the fact that we got to have meet the chef there two times for us to try the foods and pick out what we wanted for our special day, and was able to have our parents involved :)
Thanks again Hilton Garden Inn/Caitlin Mooney we will never forget the special memories!!!! It was well worth everything we paid :)
We had a room block and our reception here and they did an outstanding job from the start of planning to the very end! Caitlyn who is the sales/events manager did a fabulous job! Caitlyn was always quick with e-mail responses and advice which we appreciated since we were planning our wedding while living 3 hours away. Caitlyn always made time for us on her very busy Saturdays and always was cheerful and attentive to our needs or questions.
We also had a room block here and the Hilton staff was amazing. We had our wedding September 2nd which was a holiday weekend, home football game against their rivals and hurricane Isaac was passing through and with how busy (sold out) the hotel was they still made myself, wedding party and our families feel very welcome. It was as if they were privately hosting us, they even remembered our names.
I can't rave about the Hilton and its entire staff enough. Everyone was complimenting us with how great everything was, even the food!

We planned our wedding from our home in TX to take place in Champaign (husbands hometown), and the initial response we received was so warm and they did not shy away from our challenge. We held both our wedding and reception there. Everyone was so kind and helpful. The rooms we and our guests stayed in were clean and roomy; wifi never failed us! We felt so at home, yet, catered and pampered to at the same time. The food and catering staff were amazing! The room in which we had our event was very well set up and nicely decorated. I highly reccomend the Hilton Garden Inn in Champaign!
Our room was a two-room suite, the room was amazing, the bathroom, shower and jacuzzi bathtub were awesome!!! All of our guests were pleased with their rooms, there were a few issues....they issued one of our guests room to a new guest and they tried to get in her room, and the plumbing broke in my aunt and uncle's room, but they moved and accommodated them.
I absolutely loved working with the Hilton in Champaign. They made every detail that they were in charge of for my wedding reception exactly how I had pictured it. We had our wedding reception at the Hilton Garden Inn. Danielle, their wedding coordinator, was extremely helpful. She gave me a lot of great suggestions. She was very patient with us when we were trying to make a decision. She helped set up some of the decorations the day of. Also, they gave us some nice bathrobes as a gift! Our family and friends were so pleased with the reception. The food was amazing!
We held our reception at the Hilton Garden Inn. Everything was perfect. We could not have asked for better service. The staff set everything up perfectly and were very attentive on the actual wedding day.
The staff was friendly and the catering manager was wonderful to work with! I did not have to worry about a thing on one of the most important days!
