We had our wedding reception at the Rainbow Suites at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, and it was absolutely perfect! Denise, our events and catering manager, was super communicative and helpful throughout the entire year leading up to the wedding. She helped us to secure our date before the reservation window even opened, got us great rooms to stay at at a discounted price, patiently walked us through the millions of logistics and decisions we had to make for the big day, and gave us multiple tours of the venue and surrounding area! Denise was so accommodating of every request we had, answered a million questions via email and phone calls, and made sure everything went smoothly leading up to the wedding which is not easy considering we were planning everything from New York. On the day of, everything was exactly what we hoped for - the food was amazing, the decor was beautiful, the views were insane, and the Friday night fireworks were absolutely incredible! HHV made our wedding very special and we had a fantastic day!
The staff was great. We worked with Dayna at Hilton Hawaiian village. She was attentive, great communication, and offered solution when we hit some obstacles. The day of our reception the staff helping were amazing — great communication with us and very attentive to us and our guest.
Chapel was beautiful! We decided to get a minister with the people who ran the actual venue, I did not like how the minister performed the ceremony. Many of my guests were commenting on how the minister sounded and moved like a robot. We also got real flowers for my flower girl to throw only for them to tell me real flowers were not allowed in the venue.
We held our reception in the Rainbow Suites and it was a beautiful setting over looking the lagoon! The room is neutral tones so you can really transform the room with simple up lights and table décor. Its a great fit for a small to medium size wedding (ours was 70 ppl). The hotel staff were so attentive the entire evening and our wedding planner at the hotel was responsive leading up to and the day of. We knew we were in great hands! Highly recommend it!
Staff and service are fabulous. Can't ask for anything more. Food and environment are excellent for weddings.
We wanted to be able to have our ceremony and reception at the same place and since The Hilton Hawaiian Village is the only hotel with a chapel on property in town, we decided to book them as our reception venue. We initially worked with Susan, but when we told her our guest count, we were taken care of by Linda.
Linda was a pleasure to work with. She was VERY accommodating. I emailed Linda A LOT and she was still nice to me at the end of it all. I thought she would have been tired of me, but she wasn’t. She is very professional and was able to help us with our wedding.
The food tastings at the Hilton are not included, so we set up an appointment with Linda to have one. At our food tasting, the staff was so nice and professional. We felt like royalty because they treated us so well. A good number of their staff took the time out of their day just to say hi to us!
On our wedding day, Linda was able to provide us with everything that we needed and didn’t charge us extra for things such as easels or tables for our vendors. She was also able to work with us to book our hotel rooms. I was extremely grateful for this since the hotel was sold out that weekend.
Our guests kept commenting on how great everything at our reception was, especially the food. Linda did a great job of helping us to create our perfect buffet menu. Albert, the banquet captain of the night, was also AMAZING. He took such good care of us! We can't thank him enough for that!
Linda and her staff are so professional and nice. They made us feel important and we loved that. Linda was able to help us create the wedding of our dreams. She is a great person and easy to work with too! If you want to have a great wedding at a hotel in Waikiki, then I would recommend the Hilton Hawaiian Village. They treat everyone so well and they are super professional and nice too! I hope to be able to have another event there one of these days.
My husband and I stayed here during our one week stay Hawaii. The hotel is in a great location, close to the beach. It's very large with lots to do. You can literally stay there without leaving and still have plenty to do. The only reason I didn't rate the hotel a 5 is because my group had quite a few issues when checking in. Other than that, great place to stay.
This was the most amazing place to stay we had a great time
My husband and I eloped/honeymooned here and it was lovely. We stayed in the rainbow tower and had a spectacular view. Also the luau is a must. Just be prepared to pay for parking ($24-$30) and Internet ($16) every day. Great staff and very lovely scenery and flora.
We stayed here and the place was breath taking. It offered so much. We had our wedding off site and came back to a luau that night...they really made us feel special. Like we were part of the show.
Beautiful Location. Had my ceremony and reception at the Rainbow Suite. Did not have to go all out on decoration or flowers because the suite faces the ocean and lagoon. You can see the sunset.
Anna Hinkey is the Event Manager and was very friendly and helpful. She always replied back through emails and was readily available to answer any questions I had.
I had my reception in the Coral Ballroom. The staff is so easy to work with. They made my visions even more spectacular than I expected. They did all the table decor, lighting, buffet table and the cake. It was awesome!
The banquet managers were very helpful and responsive to our needs and requests. Sometimes it was difficult to get responses from the events office in a timely manner before the wedding but got better as it got closer. The grounds are energetic and beautiful which our guests enjoyed. Parking validation and drinks from the bar are pricey. The bridal suite was gorgeous and got a great view of the Friday night fireworks.
Our hotel coordinator was great. Everything went very smoothly
Got great feedback on primerib and deserts.
But the bell service sucks. They have a union thing where the bellboy "next" on the rotation is entitled to your business. So I waited 15 minutes for a bellboy when there were 5 just standing at the bell desk. That is ridiculous.
Service for the banquet was excellent. They made us feel like royalty.
Hilton Hawaiian Village is very nice. The rooms are very spacious with an incredible view of the crystal blue ocean. Beaches are beautiful, and everyone in our families stayed here and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Pretty expensive. Food was good, drinks super expensive. Bartender not friendly. Hard to coordinate and set up the night before.
This was a great location for our destination wedding. It's central, all inclusive location made logistics a breeze. Our site wedding planer Anna Hinkley was professional and made sure everything was perfect for our event. I would highly recommend her.
I found HHV to be so unhelpful when planning my wedding. After I signed my contract, my phone calls and emails went un-returned, and 21 days out from my wedding I still had not spoken to anyone or gotten anything planned. It ended up taking several nasty phone calls to get someone to call me back.
One thing that I found frustrating was when I signed my contract, I had been sent some sample menus from which to choose from. When I sent out my invites, I gave my guests an option of the meal they would like (I tried to double check this with HHV but of course nobody called me back). So, with less than three weeks to my wedding, when someone finally did call me back, they told me that the option I had chosen was "no longer available" and that I only had very few meal options to choose from. I realize in the long run, not a big deal. But, if someone from HHV had just spent 5 minutes on the phone with me before my invites were sent out, my guests would have gotten the meals they thought they were having.
It says in the contract that HHV will help you with music and entertainment-not true. I got no help whatsoever even though I asked for it several times.
I would have liked help with decorations and suggestions; when I asked for more information about the reception site I was simply told "it looks out on the ocean, it's fine the way it is without decorations." Grrr. Needless to say, brown was definitely not a part of my color scheme.
The other big thing I found frustrating was payment. Before I left to go to Hawaii, I told HHV that I wanted to pay my bill in full so that I wouldn't have to worry about it while I was there. So they sent me an invoice with everything on it and in big black bolded letters on the bottom of the last page, the price. So, I sent a check. The day after our wedding, I was handed a bill for an additional $1800. Part of that was extra flowers they had failed to include in the original invoice, and part of it was that they let our bar tab run $200 over what we asked them to (but then again, I suppose if they hadn't charged us an extra 30% for tax and tip for the staff we would have stayed under).
I just all around found this place frustrating. I still had a great time and enjoyed my wedding, but I felt like a bit of customer service would have gone a long way. I'm not demanding or dramatic, but I seriously did not enjoy having to plan almost my entire wedding in 20 days. There is enough to do with a destination wedding besides the wedding itself, and I felt like because the HHV had left everything to the last minute that I didn't get to enjoy the experience of being the bride to be. This was my WEDDING, my big day, and HHV really made me feel like they couldn't care less.
