Mandy was great throughout the wedding planning process. She was clear, efficient, and kind! We absolutely loved our wedding at the summit and would recommend Mandy and her crew to any couple looking for a beautiful wedding day in the mountains!
I can’t say enough about this venue. Working with Mandy at the Historic Summit Inn was a total dream. From day one, she was there to quickly answer any question that I could think of (by the time August came around, there were quite a lot of them), and made sure that we had everything we wanted or needed for the reception, no matter how unique the request. We were even able to create our signature drink, a mango margarita, which got rave reviews from guests. We had quite a few meetings to make sure all the boxes were checked, from napkin colors to planning the order of events at the reception. The Summit Inn is lovingly maintained and has a wonderful historic charm. Our rooms were spotless, and the views from the veranda were incredible. Out of town guests marveled at the location. Multiple guests commented that the food was some of the best they’ve ever had at a wedding, and we had a difficult time choosing at our tasting because the kitchen is truly wonderful. We ended up choosing the Salmon and Chicken Cordon Bleu and they were both delicious. I have Celiac Disease, and we had many other guests with other allergies. Mandy made sure that notes were made for each table that needed an accommodation so that the kitchen knew to make safe and delicious food for everyone. The entire staff was attentive and warm throughout the evening. I was also able to have a breakfast/mimosa cart for my bridesmaids while we got ready in the bridal suite the morning of the wedding, which was wonderful and fresh. Before the reception, we were taken by golf cart to the treehouse for photos, which I highly recommend for anyone celebrating at the Summit Inn. Overall, I could not have asked for more, and I think the photos can attest to how incredible the ballroom looked that night. The Historic Summit Inn is a real gem for an elegant event in the mountains.
I was a Covid bride: engaged in 2019, wedding initially planned for 2020, then postponed to 2021. We had Laura for most of the run, but when she left, Mandi and Amanda picked up right where she left off in the last three months before our wedding. Everyone was absolutely amazing, from promptly responding to my endless emails, to the food tasting, and final planning meeting, everything was perfect.
We had our ceremony on the pool patio and reception in the Edison Ballroom. Even though our wedding was generally small (55 guests), the larger ballroom didn't look empty. The kids had a blast running and sliding onto the dance floor and nobody was cramped, which is great in the times of social distancing.
Ultimately, we spent a little more than we wanted to, but I wouldn't change a thing.
My only minor complaint is that the Summit staff didn't communicate with my day-of coordinators, who I hired to take care of the smaller things (pointing other vendors in the right direction, keeping with the timeline, traying cookies, finishing up the centerpieces when the florist arrived, replenishing the cookies/dessert table) while the Summit staff took care of the bigger picture. When my MOH saw the Summit staff traying cookies, I checked my invoice to make sure we weren't charged for it, as we had specifically asked them not to (a $200 charge). The Summit staff also stated that my vendors would not be receiving a meal after I had paid for them to receive one; this may have just been a misunderstanding, but I know I had communicated multiple times that I would have four vendor meals. Everything worked out and nobody told me what had happened until after the fact (rule #1: don't rile up the bride on the wedding day) so all's well that ends well.
Other than that little blunder with my coordinators, I have nothing but good things to say about the Summit. The staff were absolutely amazing to work with and it was the perfect place to say our vows. If you are considering the Summit, definitely make an appointment to meet with the events staff. When we went in 2019, we knew immediately it would be our venue just by looking at that amazing view.
If you book, definitely book the bridal suite too. We had friends over for drinks the night before the wedding and it was more than enough space to get ready.
Our Wedding was perfect! The team at the Summit was incredible, our wedding coordinator Laura was wonderful, as was the food, ceremony room, reception room, and guest accommodations!
The Summit was a perfect venue for our wedding. It is so beautiful and there are so many good spots on site for photos. Laura, the even coordinator was amazing and responded to all of my email questions (which were quite frequent in the month leading up to the wedding) very promptly. The food was delicious and we received lots of
compliments. I would definitely encourage couples to look at the Summit when considering venues.
Great food and great staff. Beautiful grounds to take pictures. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect day!
The Summit is beautiful. They are very accommodating. The food is delicious and the room is great. We were super pleased with our choice and so were all of our guests!
THE GOOD: I loved the look of the hotel. Our wedding pics are beautiful. Rooms were recently remodeled. Harding Suite is nice as a Bridal Suite but is pretty expensive even with their "discount". Indoor pool was nice. Food in the restaurants is delicious! Gave me a break on kids meals. Gave me the ceremony room for free (However this was b/c it was more convenient for them with set-up. They wanted to charge me $1,000 initially)
THE BAD: Unfortunately the outdoor pool and hot tub were still under renovation. (Over a year later) The restaurant wouldn't let us push tables together to accommodate our party of 20. We had to sit 4 to a table?
THE ARE YOU KIDDING ME?: Room reservation process is a mess. Online reservation form literally goes nowhere (and they know that!). When I brought it up I was told "well they need to call for a room" Why do you have click here for an online reservation then? Also, I was aware the resort was closed Nov through mid-April but they didn't inform me that during that time they only answer the phones M-F 8-4pm so a lot of my guests were calling after work or on the weekends and getting nowhere. Again I was given a response of "You do realize we're closed?" and "I don't have any missed calls or voicemails." In general, the Front Desk staff is rude or disinterested at best. Not saying they didn't help me when needed but they never did it with a smile or said have a nice day.
BEFORE SIGNING A CONTRACT: Negotiate Vendor meals. They tried to charge me full price ($90) b/c they insisted my vendors would drink. I got $15 off each vendor meal after they signed a contract saying they wouldn't drink! Ridiculous. Check out the bar list. Premium Bar is a joke. Crown Royal is top shelf?
SUMMARY: They are NOT a picnic to work with. They act like every request is a big deal & any little thing they do for you is such a HUGE favor. For the money we spent we deserved to be treated much better! They NEVER even thanked me for choosing them as my venue.
I chose Summit Inn Resort as my venue based on its history and great ballroom space. I also wanted a venue where my guests could stay after drinking, because many of them were from different states. The reception package prices include open bars, which was also something I wanted. The food for both our rehearsal dinner and reception was incredible, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. Overall, I am very glad I chose Summit Inn for my wedding!
The venue, the people, the food, the view, the sunset, the everything. It was all amazing!
This place is absolutely charming and has a stunning view! We had the ballroom and it was absolutely stunning as well. The food was AMAZING and the banquet manager for the night, Amanda, was absolutely wonderful! The events coordinator Laurie comes off as short with you, but she answered every single question I had within 24 hours and I had a LOT of questions! My only complaints with this place was that my guests that booked rooms and including myself for the night of the wedding were not permitted to check into their rooms until 4 pm and my wedding was at 4:30 pm. My guests that wanted to freshen up and drop off their bags before the wedding could not do so. Also, my room was not ready until 6 pm the night of my rehearsal dinner (Friday) when check in was at 4. Also, the room service came into my room at 10 am before check out time at 11 am and threw away all of the cookies my mom wrapped up for me from the wedding that I didn't get and also they through my bouquet away but we retrieved it from the trash right before they took it out! My advice to anyone that goes here is that you will not be disappointed in the food, beauty, and banquet service, however room service and the hotel rooms much was left to be desired and the maids were terrible and rude. OVerall though, I was very pleased. Just an extra side note, the entrance intersection to the Summit is deadly. It is at a the crest of the mountain, and turning into the parking lot, the person cresting the hill cannot see you. There was a T bone accident Sunday (the day after my wedding) but thankfully no one got seriously injured. There were many close calls and from what I heard, this happens more frequently than one would suspect.
I used the Summit Inn for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary party. Laurie in the Sales dept was so helpful and very pleasant to work with, especially since I was planning the party from another state.
The food was very good, the staff was helpful and the grounds are beautiful! Everyone at the hotel really made my parents 2nd wedding a very memorable event!
