As soon as we visited, it was pretty clear that The Tabard Inn was the right place for us to get married. The attentive staff, great restaurant on-site, and distinct decor made it ideal for our wedding of 45 people. Daniel, the Director of Catering and Community Liaison, worked closely with us to iron out details from start to finish at every level and to tailor the experience to us; he was truly essential to our wedding day. Because Tabard is majority employee-owned, there’s a lot of flexibility in customizing the experience without a lot of red tape. We booked the patio for the ceremony and rooms 24 and 26 for the reception. We didn’t even need to get a wedding cake since dessert was included in the three-course plated dinner. The Tabard staff was very efficient in the setup and in moving from room to room. The waiters and bartenders were all very personable and professional, and the whole evening flowed very easily for us. We look forward to going back to the Tabard for dinners on special nights and for brunches.

We rented Room 24 last year for our 24 person micro-wedding at the Tabard. I couldn't be happier with the service, the staff, the food and accommodations at this lovely, local, and unique DC Inn. Daniel walked us through all the details, answered our many questions and helped us come up with the most fabulous setup for our reception. We were able to accommodate a king's table, a full bar, DJ, acoustic live performance, AND a dance floor for our big day. The beauty of hosting out reception at the Tabard is that they took take care of the dining, table linens, place cards, transitions (cocktail hour to dinner), and cleanup. We did not have a wedding planner, but thanks to Daniel it really felt like we did. The dinner food was so so delicious and the canapés selection was a hit w/ our guests. Thank you to all the lovely staff who made our day so special. It was a dream come true.

We were like many couples whose initial plans were altered by the pandemic. When we decided to have a safe, small civil ceremony Daniel and the team at the Tabard really came through for us. The Tabard patio is a covered, outdoor space meaning that we were able to have a personal intimate celebration even in the face of shifting indoor masking mandates during the rainiest month in D.C. with out any worries. We had many, many gluten-free guests who were able to enjoy almost everything that was served and Daniel made sure to check each order with the chef. We were able to have valet parking which made our city location easier for our guests with cars and the cocktail hour started as we wrapped up photos at our ceremony site. Service was flawless, the food was delicious, and the F&B minimum was the most reasonable rate we found of a party of our size anywhere in town. The team even rolled away our central table after dinner and dessert to ensure we had a little space to dance and helpfully played a playlist controlled by one of the guests over the speakers to the patio. Daniel was easy to work with and responsive. For a smaller party, the patio at the Tabard is a perfect, safe venue for these crazy times!

Daniel, the Community Liaison and events coordinator, MADE my wedding. We only had 15 people, the tiniest of budgets, and I desperately wanted it to feel cozy and classy, not cheap and austere. For maximum affordability, I opted to do an off-season (February) Sunday event. We had a very brief civil ceremony followed by a brunch buffet. Contrary to other venues that wanted to charge a separate wedding and reception fee irrespective of size and setup, Daniel very graciously worked with us. We paid a small room rental fee along with the F&B minimum. We brought in absolutely no outside decor or floral; the rooms are so beautiful that none was necessary to make it feel special. Our family and friends raved about the food and the spread was wonderfully varied. Yet another point where the Tabard Inn didn’t stick us with that dreaded wedding upcharge! The banquet/event F&B packages were the same list price whether you are hosting a corporate dinner party or a wedding. Throughout the planning process I felt we were treated fairly and with respect.
My wedding was about as stress-free as a bride can have. An intimate ceremony with so few variables and moving parts should be easy to control, but at the same time it felt super high-stakes because any mishap would be glaring and noticeable. Everything went smoothly, and every detail was accounted for with care and professionalism. I am SO thankful that we found the Tabard Inn. There could not have been a more perfect venue for our needs.

Tabard Inn was hands down the perfect place to hold our wedding. We got married on the patio (which is, by the way, partially covered even though it doesn't say so on The Knot page) and then went right upstairs for happy hour, dinner, and dancing. It's the oldest hotel in DC, and the building is charming with lots of unique and interesting artwork everywhere. If you want a vintage wedding then this is the place. Daniel, the catering manager, was essential to the success of our wedding. He and his team took care of every detail and made sure the event ran flawlessly. They were also very flexible when we needed to expand the reception space to two rooms given the high number of RSVPs that we received. I'm so glad I did, it was really nice to have the extra space for dancing. Food was fantastic, both the wedding dinner and brunch the next day. Thank you to the whole Tabard team for helping us make our wedding day extra special!

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner for about 30 people in the beautiful Green Room at the Tabard Inn. We wanted an intimate, reasonably priced, and classic DC restaurant for our dinner, and The Tabard Inn was the perfect choice. From the beginning, the whole staff, including Mariana, Elena, and Judy, were great to work with. They were responsive to all of our questions, and did a great job organizing everything.
For the actual dinner, the restaurant put up welcome signs for our guests, had name cards with entree selections, and printed custom menus. The Green Room is a great space with an area for drinks and passed h’orderves before dinner and then a larger room with space for several round tables. Plus there's a private bathroom, which is really nice for guests. The service was also great and they had everything set-up early, and kindly served some of our guests that arrived earlier than we had planned.
The room and service were great, but the food was the real star. We decided to have 3 passed h’orderves- watermelon lollipops, scallop chorizo skewers, and lamb chop lollipops- which were the perfect way to welcome everyone to the dinner. Our dinner started with a mixed green salad that had an amazing vinaigrette. Our guests then picked between three entrees- filet mignon, crab cake, and vegetarian pasta primavera. Everyone raved about their entrees. Finally, we had an incredibly delicious cheesecake for dessert. Everything was fantastic, and we highly recommend Tabard Inn!

Elena and the staff at the Tabard Inn were fantastic. Elena was an excellent communicator, responded to emails promptly, and kept the planning process as simple as possible for us.
The venue was absolutely perfect for our 60 guests. The patio was rustic and gorgeous for the ceremony, and they included little details that I didn't even notice until we got the photos, including putting little planters at the ends of the seating rows and little lanterns at the front rows.
The banquet rooms were beautifully lit. In the green/pink room, the tables were expertly set. They included little table card stands and were very accommodating for my folks to set up centerpieces, escort cards, etc.
Having a separate room (the red room) for the DJ, bar, and dancing was really nice as the green/pink room became a cooler place to rest while everyone danced the night away in the red room.
The food was excellent, with most of our guests commenting on it being the best "wedding food" they'd ever had. Our menu included the Statler chicken breast, Ribeye steak, both with whipped potatoes and vegetables, and vegetarian pasta primavera; everyone loved their dishes, including us. (Elena even set up a complimentary tasting for us a few weeks before the wedding so we could finalize our selections.)
We stayed at the inn on Friday and Saturday nights (the wedding was Saturday). The inn rooms were rustic, very Victorian with modern bathrooms, and the room we were in (room 3), was beautifully appointed, and had ample room for the bridal party to prepare.
My husband and I have nothing but good things to say about the Tabard Inn, and would highly recommend it to couples looking for an intimate, personal venue, and the restaurant (which does the "catering" is second to none, and we're looking forward to going back for brunch in the near future.
