Skye has spent the last 36 years in the bridal industry and she's enjoyed every moment of it. In the past Skye has managed/owned several stores but unfortunately lost it all in a divorce. In 2017 House of Couture Designs was born, starting as a small side street store. 2018 the business moved to a store front on the main street of Sewickley. Skye then took a leap and moved to a 4000 square foot store in McCandless Crossings in 2022. "I pride myself on making everyone feel comfortable and at ease in our luxury store. Every person needs to feel beautiful and special So I welcome you to HCD!"

Finding my dress at House of Couture truly has been a wonderful experience! Their selection of gowns fit exactly what I was looking for. I had Alex helping me at both appointments, and she is on top of her game! All of the other consultants and the owner were so professional and nice as well! The store feels luxurious and they give you the true princess experience.

If I could I'd give House of Couture Designs 10/5 stars!! I had the pleasure of having Alex as my consultant and not only did she let me try on every dress I wanted, she thoroughly made my experience smooth sailing and she was very honest and not trying to make a dollar like other boutiques I have been to. She wanted me to find my dream dress and she made it happen! The store is gorgeous and very clean. All of the women were extremely welcoming and sweet. I loved the try on area and even their accessories are adorable! If you are looking for a beautiful designer dress with affordable prices and a wonderful experience, do yourself a favor and go to House of Couture Designs!!

I was so pleased with my experience at House of Couture in finding, ordering, and altering my dress for my daughter’s wedding. Alex was great to work with and offered just enough honesty to steer me away from dresses that weren’t for me and guide me to the perfect one. She was very patient and has a great eye for style and color. Mikayla was also kind enough to offer encouragement as I was trying on dresses. Skye and Alex knew how the dresses fit and ordered the size that was perfect for me. I only needed a hem, which was expertly done. The dress was steamed and ready to go with personal, professional instruction on care. I have already been back to shop for my son’s upcoming wedding and, again, they helped me find the perfect dress in the perfect color. Oh, and the shop is stunning!! Highly recommend!!

Sky did an incredible job altering my wedding gown. I wanted to change a few things about my dress, and she turned it into the dress of my dreams! I mean she really nailed it. I didn’t even purchase my dress at House of Couture Designs, and she still did my alterations. I wish I had known about House of Couture when I was dress shopping. They have a beautiful selection! They also have the BEST mother of bride/groom dresses. I can’t recommend Sky enough. She is the best.

I can't thank Skye and her team enough for bringing the vision of my dream wedding dress to life! Although I fell in love with a strapless gown, I had always envisioned my wedding dress with long sleeves and a high neck. Skye and her team went above and beyond to craft the most gorgeous custom sleeves/jacket that fit seamlessly with the gown. My stylist, Alex, was incredibly patient, so helpful, and had such an amazing eye for what I wanted. She took my feedback and pulled more dresses for me to try, and could tell by my facial expressions if I liked or disliked a dress. The experience was comfortable, fun, and exactly what I wanted. I just ordered my dress from House of Couture and I am so excited they helped me find the right dress for my wedding day! Alex was so helpful and definitely gave me her undivided attention throughout the whole process. She was very helpful picking out dresses that were what I was looking for and she let me know that she was there to help me, and not necessarily the family that came with me, which a greatly appreciated. I had a great experience with Alex and cannot wait until my dress comes in!

They were amazing! The gowns are stunning, and I went in not entirely sure of what I wanted. Lexi was incredibly helpful; she took mental notes on what I liked and didn’t like about each dress to find more options for me. Initially, I wasn’t interested in a veil since I hadn’t liked any I had tried before. However, I ended up falling in love with a dress and a veil! The store allows you to walk around and see how it feels to move in the dress, which was a great touch. The environment is calm, welcoming, and friendly, making it the perfect experience for anyone anxious about dress shopping. I did feel a bit overwhelmed at one point, so I took a break to look at pictures of the dresses I had tried on. When I returned, I tried on the one I ultimately fell in love with. Overall 10/10 experience!

I have nothing but rave reviews for House of Couture Designs! I was very anxious to go wedding dress shopping, but from the moment I first walked into the store, I felt welcomed, comforted, and I knew I was in good hands. Every person I interacted with made sure that I had a great experience. I was able to try on so many different dresses and finally found the one and the perfect veil to match. There were a few things I wanted to add/ change on the dress, and House of Couture Designs made sure that my dress was perfect! When my travel schedule got super busy and it was hard for me to get to Pittsburgh, the shop worked with me and were so accommodating. Overall, my dress turned out nicely but my experience with HOC caused me to be anxious and stressed before my wedding. Pros: -experience of trying on dresses. staff encouraged me to find what I truly wanted vs. pushing to make a sale -beautiful dresses at fair prices, had sections for different price ranges -my dress was altered/hemmed nicely and ended up beautiful Cons: -timeliness of receiving my dress, accuracy of my order, and customer service --I bought my dress in November, and they expected it would arrive in May. It did not arrive until September, ONE MONTH before my wedding. I.e. it took 10 months to arrive. We had to constantly call for any updates, and they typically just provided a vague response with no real information. They eventually said it was a shipping issue, but I have not heard of any other brides having this issue. This made me very anxious that the dress would not arrive for my wedding, and I didn't end up getting any real/big alterations (e.g. adding sleeves, changing straps), as I was too worried it wouldn't be finished in time. --They gave me the wrong veil 5 days before I left town for my wedding. It wasn't even close to the veil I ordered. I had to drive back to the store the day before I left town to pick up the correct one which added a lot of unneeded stress (when you're already feeling nervous). They offered no apology and instead made jokes, e.g. that it's impressive they only made this mistake given the busy time of year. They did not offer any explanation and had to frantically make me a new veil. --During my dress fitting, made jokes that I should wear higher heels (so they wouldn't have to hem the dress). It felt distasteful after I waited so long to have the dress arrive.

I have nothing but good things to say about everyone at House of Couture including Skye! They helped me find the perfect most incredible wedding gown. It was truly something out of my dreams! Everyone is so professional and knowledgeable as well so if you have questions about anything you’ll have an answer quickly. The alterations on my dress were minimal as I was sized perfectly when my gown was ordered. All I really needed done was bustling since I had a long train. I found my Mother of the Bride dress after a very fun and customized appointment. Their consultant helped me experiment with different styles knowing that my goal was to not look matronly but elegant in a way that worked best for my shape and features. Once the dress arrived, I went in for several fittings due to losing weight and dropping a couple dress sizes. Each fitting was extremely professional and efficient. Additionally, I requested that "flutter sleeves" be added to the dress based on a picture/ vision I had. They customized the dress for me and it was absolutely perfect for the wedding. I felt beautiful that day due to the dress fitting like a glove and it ended up complementing with my daughter's wedding dress in a way I couldn't have imagined. I had several people reach out to me on social media asking me where I got my dress and have recommended this shop wholeheartedly. Also, I can't say enough about the seamstress and what a beautiful job she did in downsizing and customizing my dress. I loved the experience, customer service, and their consistent professionalism!

Absolutely amazing. I went in with an idea of what I wanted and The worker who helped me was fast efficient and picked amazing dresses for me. Every single dress was breathtaking and in my budget which was unbelievable and I did not think it was possible. I definitely think that every bride should choose this house of couture for their first dress appointment. You will save a lot of time by going here because you will find your dress like I did. If you are looking for your special dress to get alterations done, Skye is your go-to person. My wedding dress had so much lace, glitter, beading and multiple layers to it, and she altered it with so much care. You can put your complete trust in Skye with taking care of your dress. I promise you it is in the best hands. Skye took wonderful care of my dress and was also extremely flexible when scheduling appointments. She makes you feel beautiful and feel comfortable in her store. All of the other ladies that work in her store are also extremely friendly and kind! They also had a beautiful variety of bridal dresses and accessories! In addition to Skye’s expertise and professionalism, she was someone who provided me love and support personally. Exactly one week before my wedding, my mother had a stroke and brain bleed. Skye also did some minor alterations to my mother’s dress, and when I went to pick up my dress and her dress I broke down in tears right in Skye’s shop. Her and the other ladies in the shop hugged me and offered to let me come in another day to pick up the dresses. They took the time to listen to me and talked with me about what had happened to my mother. They provided me comfort and were so patient with me. They treated me with so much love and respect. I am happy to share not only a picture of my beautiful dress Skye altered for me (which fit absolutely perfectly by the way!), but also a picture of my mother and I on my wedding day. My mother made an amazing recovery and was able to get a free pass out of rehab to attend my wedding! She was so happy to wear her dress that Skye altered for her! Also, thank you Skye for the shawl for my mother that matched her dress perfectly! It was so hard to find one that matched! Before my mother’s stroke, she had so much fun going to Skye’s shop with me to try on our dresses together! I highly recommend going to House of Couture if you’re looking for any kind of dress alternations! Thank you Skye and to all of the lovely ladies in the shop! Thank you for the experience, the memories and your kindness. It will never be forgotten. ❤️

Skye is so professional and perfect! She is our go to for all our dress needs - having 4 daughter brides-to-be! My daughter was recently a maid of honor and at the time of the wedding would be 38 weeks pregnant - Skye was working closely with her for the dress fitting. Well baby decided to come early and Skye was able to alter the pregnant brides maid dress to fit the ever changing 2 week postpartum body dress. Mom and baby are healthy and the dress fit like a glove thanks to Skye and her amazing talent!

There are no words to describe the pure joy I had shopping for my dress. Skye, made every moment magic, special, and just for me. My whole family fell in love with her and her store. My mother, sister and flower girl dresses all came from her store. My flower girls and sister came in from Michigan to have their dresses custom fitted to them by Skye who did whatever it took to make their schedule work with hers. Skye and her team at House of Couture Designs are incredible! Skye helped me choose the perfect dress and then an equally perfect second dress to party in! The alterations were perfect. At the last minute, when I was nervous re: appearance of my arms, Skye came to the rescue and added sleeves which made me feel 100% confident on my wedding day. The store is lovely - plenary of space and huge selection of designers and styles in various sizes which really makes the trying on process so simple. We also got my mom’s mother of the bride dress here and it looked awesome! I wish I could give 6 stars. Meeting Skye was the biggest blessing throughout my wedding planning process. We met her back in her Sewickley store where my mom found her Mother of the Bride dress. She didn’t have it in store at the time but went out of her way to find a previous owner’s dress for my mom to try on, because when my mom knows what she wants she knows…. On my moms last alteration’s appointment, which was 2 weeks prior to the wedding, Skye was asking about all the final details and I broke down crying about my current wedding dress I had gotten elsewhere. She immediately told me to try on a dress that had just came into the store and I was thinking she was crazy, I mean I was getting married in TWO WEEKS!!! She was adamant on telling me that you have to love and feel comfortable in your dress and that she was going to help me find that. I put that dress on and just KNEW it was meant for me, I fell in love and never wanted to take it off, it made me feel like a princess and in that moment I’ll never forget the feelings that came over me, the feelings a bride is suppose to have when she finds the dress of her dreams and Skye ordered it that day, came in within 2 days and ended up fitting perfectly. Skye goes above and beyond for you to make sure you feel like the most beautiful bride on your one and only wedding day! I could not be more thankful and more obsessed with my dress.

As the mother of the bride and as a mother of my first daughter to get married I knew I wanted a very special dress! I found a dress online and searched every boutique to find this one particular dress and no one had it, no one offered to even order it for me so that I could try it on. When I found House of Couture Designs that’s when everything changed. Skye went out of her way, truly above and beyond and located the dress for me, had me come in to try on, and I fell in love with it! Thank you Skye for finding me the most beautifully stunning MOB dress! But the magic of Skye doesn’t end with just my dress! My daughter ordered a dress at a different boutique and when it came in she just wasn’t happy with it, they tried to alter it into what she wanted and it just wasn’t possible. She cried at every fitting, my heart broke every time! My daughter came to one of my fittings and was talking to Skye about her current dress situation, mind you her wedding now was two weeks away! Skye had her try on a dress and she absolutely fell in love! The tears, the smile, the glow will be etched in our memories and hearts forever. Skye made my daughter feel like the most beautiful bride in the world and she was just that! Skye is so talented on so many levels and is very caring and giving. After a middling experience with the salon where I purchased my wedding gown, I brought the situation to Skye for alterations: I'm a curvy gal, and the gown I had in-hand was somehow both much too large and didn't have nearly enough room for my chest. Skye is a kind, frank, no-nonsense artist with the perfectionism and diligence you want in this kind of complicated project. She wrestled and wrangled the dress into shape, worked around my tight schedule, and all in the midst of moving her shop to a new location. I highly recommend House of Couture Designs!!! I went there for a mother of the bride (step-mom) dress & was in awe of their selection of dresses! From the moment I walked into House of Couture Designs, until my last fitting, my experience was outstanding. I had previously visited more than 6 other bridal shops & unfortunately none of them had any styles that I liked, I almost gave up. I tried one last place, House of Couture Designs, so happy I did!!! As soon as I stepped into House of Couture & looked around, I knew the experience would be different as well as the dresses they were selling. Although I did not have an appointment, stylist Alex warmly greeted me. Let me tell you..their selection of dresses is absolutely stunning! Skye, the owner picks out her inventory and boy does she have an eye for fashion! One dress was prettier than the next. After having visited so many other bridal shops, Alex was by far the best consultant. She was thoughtful and sincere in her feedback on the dresses that I tried on & not pushy at all. Some dresses I liked, but she kindly pointed out things that I didn’t think of and steered me in the right direction to find the perfect dress. The owner Skye completed my alterations & did a fabulous job. She graciously worked with my tight time frame. I went to 5 other bridal Salons prior to House of Couture and boy am I glad I didn’t purchase a dress from any of the other places. Skye is absolutely brilliant at what she does and the entire experience from the first visit to my last dress fitting was nothing less than excellent. In fact, both my mother I ended up saying “yes to the dress” in our very first visit (her dress being mother of the bride which they have gorgeous options for)!!! Her alterations are meticulously performed and as a result my gown is not only stunning but fits me like a glove. I would recommend this bridal salon and Skye to anyone looking for her perfect dress. (Oh and the complementary Prosecco is an added plus ;)

I had the most INCREDIBLE and most MEMORABLE dress shopping experience EVER with Skye, the owner of House of Couture Designs, where I got my Mother-of-the-Bride dress. I’ll never forget stepping inside her boutique, taking in its beauty, and feeling like I was meant to be there. I can’t explain why, but I know that if you go there and meet her, you’ll “get” it. You just feel like you’re somewhere really special, and that’s because you ARE. Places like this don’t even exist anymore. Skye (and Grace) welcomed me, and I soon felt like I had known her forever as she helped me to navigate through her great selection of MOB dresses. (She also has a lovely collection of wedding dresses.) She is an AMAZING person…kind, warm, and truly genuine….and an EXPERT in her field. I felt like she a a good friend helping me to find a perfect dress and not a bridal consultant hoping to make a sale. Skye is also a seamstress (with terrific reviews), and I am excited that she will be altering my dress for my daughter’s September wedding. My experience with House of Couture was outstanding! I had limited time to get the alterations done and House of Couture went out of the way to do my alterations. The owner was clearly very experienced with handling every aspect of the fit, and in advising on every style element. She was patient, professional and accommodating. I would highly recommend this business to anyone looking for dresses, accessories, and professional alterations in the Sewickley area. So before the year ends, I want to be sure to thank Skye for helping me during such a stressful wedding time! What a professional who is vested in doing everything to make things right. I had a very formal rehearsal dinner. I found the dress in her shop - it was classy, elegant but modern at the right price in her shop and the elegant earrings to match in an instant! I felt so beautiful and was able to be myself as I charmed 100 people! She altered a wedding dress I had from another state and during it all remained calm, resourceful and owned everything until delivery. So talented and a consummate professional. Thank you Skye.

Skye is an amazing designer. I wanted to wear my mother's gown but the dress was too yellow, so she took pieces to recreate her gown and put them onto a new gown. It was a year long process but turned out absolutely stunning. Skye can do anything!

Skye went above and beyond to make my dress perfect! I had one of the hardest materials that showed every little tug of the fabric and she somehow made it fit perfectly! Also, she immediately made me feel so welcomed and comfortable! Not only was she an amazing seamstress for an extremely fair price, but she was so fun to talk to and I thoroughly enjoyed every second spent with her! I would highly recommend her to anyone looking and already have!

I had THE MOST INCREDIBLE experience with at House of Couture in Sewickley with Skye!!! From the second we walked in to 9 months later on our wedding day we felt like family. I am a curvy woman and felt extremely comfortable at my appt. Skye’s location is a beautiful intimate salon and it felt Perfect for making such an important decision for our special day. Feel in love with Skye on our first appointment and after seeing how amazing she altered my dress to fit perfectly and hug every part of my body I am so happy I used her. I LOVED working with Skye. I stumbled across her shop when I was looking for someone else to alter my wedding dress as I did not want to pay the salon's minimum where I got it - especially given that they wanted me to get a dress that was way too big even though I informed them that I JUST had a baby six weeks prior. Regardless - it led me to Skye! She was prompt and responsive - she got me in quickly once my dress arrived. She showed me everything that she would do, broke down the price, and even did additional work at a later fitting. Not to mention, her shop is gorgeous and she is fun and honest. I wish I would have shopped in her store for my dress and everything else. I actually came back to Skye for a bridesmaid dress alteration because I think not only is she an incredible seamstress and hard-working person, but she is very transparent with her pricing and she is fair! I hope she is okay with me and my little boy just popping into visit when we are in Sewickley once my need for alterations is over! Would pick Skye over and over again!! She is the BEST!

I was a plus sized bride with various health conditions that had me in and out of the hospital 6 times in the year leading up to my wedding. I posted in a Facebook bridal group that I was struggling to get it all done while sick, not even asking anyone for anything other than advice, and Skye direct messaged me. She asked if I had a dress and if I needed help with alterations on it because she could definitely help. And she did! 6 months after offering to help and after I had to cancel last minute once due to another hospitalization, I met up with Skye to look at my dress. She added straps to it so I wouldn’t struggle to keep it up since I walk with a cane. She added a bustle so I didn’t trip over my train after the ceremony. She was extremely easy to talk to and work with, even with all my issues she never even blinked. She’s an amazing person and I hope everyone gets to experience what I did when I went to her shop!

If I could give Skye a million stars I would!!! SHE IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! House of Couture breathtaking when you walk in, from the dresses to the accessories..beautiful. The little details that she added to my dress were PERFECT and my dress fit me like a glove and to complete the whole thing, her veils 😍 it tied everything together in the most perfect way. Skye takes her time and makes sure everything is perfect for you and you feel constantly loved by her. One of the best!!!! I found Skye through the Pittsburgh Wedding FB group and she just happened to be down the street from our venue. Skye is absolutely amazing! I told her what I was looking for and she picked out the dress of my dreams! It was the 2nd or 3rd dress I tried on and it was the one. Skye is so nice and easy to work with and has so many beautiful dresses and accessories in her shop! She also does wonderful alterations- I wanted straps added to my dress and they looked flawless. Skye is amazing. She took my great aunt’s wedding dress from 1953 and transformed it into my dream dress. She exhibited so much care when working with a family heirloom, and her dedication to detail is unmatched. She also custom made a short reception dress for me! I purchased a sample dress from her, and she cut it to the perfect length for a party dress that still felt bridal. Skye hand sewed flower decals all over the dress, and truly made it unique. I would recommend her alterations services and her boutique dresses to any bride. She is the best in Pittsburgh! I am forever grateful that I went to Skye to make the perfect dresses for my wedding.

Skye is a woman you want on your team, SHE IS THE ULTIMATE WEDDING GODDESS!!! I found House of Couture Designs by accident, 'lucky me'! It was but days before my daughters wedding (who lives in Chicago but getting married in Pittsburgh) and she and her sister really disliked the dress I had chosen. Wait, what? UGH this almost brought me to tears because I was walking my daughter down the aisle to her future husband. My daughter said, 'it might be almost impossible, but we are going shopping'. She wanted to first stop in Sewickley for something and lo and behold like angels out of heaven, there it is House of Couture Designs, a bridal salon. We looked at each other and said 'what the heck, can't hurt'. In we walk and this beautiful woman greets us 'with how may I help you ladies'? My daughter blurts out 'well my Mother needs a Mother of the Bride dress'. "Wonderful Skye says, when's the wedding"? My daughter blurts out again, 'oh in a few days and my mother's dress is ugly'. The look on Skye's face was quizzical but that sweet, amazing woman, said 'what color and get in a dressing room'!! Then she worked her MAGIC, when I say MAGIC I mean MAGIC!! My exquisite, black, flowing Mother of the Bride gown, made me feel like a queen as I walked my daughter down the aisle at Heinz Chapel. My daughter called the gown 'divine'!! Skye is the absolute BEST. She actually altered two wedding dresses for me over the course of our postponed wedding timeline. She added the most gorgeous belt into my dress - you would have thought it was a part of the design! Skye is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! I was a Covid bride and postponed my wedding from 10.31.20 to 5.8.21!! Mind you I just had a baby on New Years Eve of 2019, I didn’t go to any bridal salon but hers!! We walked in there and I can tell you I was skeptical about finding a dress the first day of dress shopping, but with my wedding day coming up quickly at that point we hadn’t postponed just yet I was on a huge time crunch! My emotions, anxiety and super uncomfortableness with my baby body still, she started squeezing me into dress after dress, every gown getting more and more beautiful!! Skye is INCREDIBLE. My wedding dress was several sizes too large, requiring a good bit of alterations. When I originally took my dress to another seamstress, she told me there was nothing she could do to make it fit. After working with Skye, my dress fit like an absolute glove. She even came up with some alteration ideas to make the dress even more perfect. I felt absolutely amazing in my dress thanks to Skye. I will never go elsewhere for alterations again. She is the absolute best!!!!!
