Beautiful site and wonderful staff!
We had our 2013 NYE wedding at the Hyatt McCormick Place and it was absolutely the best night of our lives! We looked at 5-6 different venues in downtown Chicago, and nothing could compete with the Hyatt when compared to the package, amenities, flexibility, and the accommodations. Our priority was to make sure our guests had enough to eat and drink, including an open bar. We choose the personal preference package which allows for 4 hrs of premium bar package, champagne toast, passed wine, and the guests could choose from four dinner entrees, cake and late night snacks. We customized some of package, as we removed the ice sculpture and desserts and added the late night snacks. The package was really flexible and Stacy Terpsma and team were wonderful to work with right down to every detail. They had great ideas for how to set up the room and how to make the best use out of the space. And the FOOD! I cannot begin to tell you how everyone was raving about the food, wine, drinks and excellent service. I will break it down into the critical components on what made the night exceptional:
Venue: We utilized the Ballroom and Foyer for our Cocktail hour and Dinner Service.
The Foyer was the perfect set up for socialization before the main event. There were 4 passed hors d’oeuvres for cocktail hour. The bartenders were great and made excellent drinks. The passed bites were so delicious and there was more than enough to feed our guests. I’ve been to weddings were this isn’t the case, and it really means a lot to make sure that the guests have enough food while enjoying a cocktail.
The ballroom itself is very new and open and the space rendered itself for a perfect guest experience.
Food: Where do I begin? Our Banquet Chef, Melissa Rose, who studied at the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago – Le Cordon Bleu, needless to say delivered some of the best food we have ever had.
For Hors d’oeuvres we had Smoked Salmon and Fresh Dill in an olive oil bread cup, Sesame crusted chicken breast tenderloin with sweet chili marmalade, Petite rosemary garlic lamb chop, and Beef tenderloin and wild mushrooms, wrapped in flaky puff pastry (which I think I had 5 alone!!!)
We had a menu of Sea Scallops on a bed of risotto w/seafood cream for an appetizer; the scallops were very large and very good quality and cooked to perfection! The salad was very fresh and had such a nice dressing on it. Guests were able to choose from 4 options (and a 5th for vegetarian) for the main course. We had the four options of 1) Herb grilled Filet Mignon with shrimp and a merlot reduction sauce 2) Fire roasted Chicken Breast, potato risotto, wilted greens and fennel 3) Dill crusted Salmon, braised leeks, citrus mustard beurre blanc 4) Balsamic Peppered Pork loin, braised savoy cabbage, pancetta, cherry jus 5) Vegetarian
Hands down the majority of the guests ordered the filet. My husband and I like our meat medium-well and these were all cooked to perfection and served hot. The quality of the meat was apparent and the steak was extremely tender. We are foodies living in Chicago so we know our quality and have very high expectations! I have been to Chicago Cut, Maestros, etc and this steak was by far just as good if not better!!!
The Hyatt's team is extremely professional and you can tell they are well experienced in organizing and putting on events as it came through in every detail from start to finish. Thank you!!!
Nice and new hotel...word to the wiser than I..do not stay there on the weekend of a Bears home game. A lot of the fans are rowdy and drunk. Good job cleaning staff! Very nice rooms...very reasonable price for downtown Chicago.
Excellent place for a wedding, the evening was flawless!
My wedding coordinator Stacy, was the best. She was there to listen to all my questions and concerns, super patient. She had great ideas and was really just a sweetheart. The staff at the Hyatt McCormick is so friendly. The hotel itself is spacious, all my guest loved it. The hotel provided them with spacious rooms with a great view of the city. The food was fantastic. The package is well worth the money. More than what you will get at any other hotel in Chicago. Everyone is accomodating. If you want a magical wedding that runs smoothly, and a staff that will help you the WHOLE wedding process, go to the Hyatt McCormick.
