autiful, natural editing (as opposed to overly processed). I also hate the stereotypical "wedding shots" which are so cliche - the dress hanging in the window, the shoes staged with the ring, etc etc. So when my wedding came around in 2023, while I did look elsewhere to compare photographers and price packages, I just knew what I would be getting with Joshua Brown. Our reception was held at a restaurant (Goosefeather) and we really wanted there to be a relaxed, intimate atmosphere which was a perfect fit for Joshua's approach. While Joshua himself was booked for our wedding date, his associates were available for photography and videography. I was able to look at their galleries for other couples' weddings, and I saw much of the same philosophy - focused on capturing candid moments naturally - so I went ahead and booked them.
Marlon (photographer) and Nick (videographer) were a breeze to work with. We didn't do an engagement shoot or meet them before wedding day, but they were so easygoing and un-obtrusive that it didn't matter. We just got to experience our wedding day - ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception - for the most part, oblivious to their movements and presence (other than getting ready photos and posed family photos). Receiving the gallery only ~2 weeks after the wedding was also a joy - they have such a fast turnaround time!
We were blown away by the gallery that they created. They did such a beautiful job capturing our wedding day. We loved all of the moments captured so naturally - meaningful, candid, heartfelt, hilarious, and everything in between. Us giggling in church, details of my outfits, a friend lovingly feeding his daughter, tears, laughter - the "in between" moments. They allowed us a glimpse into what our loved ones' experience of the day was when we weren't able to see them all in real time - their reactions, their joy, their laughter. They even captured the staging of a gorgeous desserts table which I completely missed - the pastry chef tossed powdered sugar on the table like Jackson Pollock! I had no idea that even happened on our wedding day, but I got to experience the drama and beauty of it through the photography.
Marlon used the lighting of the day and at the venue so well without needing to rely on heavy post-processing. Our loved ones have also been commenting on how much they love the gallery.
If capturing intimate moments at your wedding, rather than dramatically staged shots with lots of editing, is your goal - then Joshua Brown and his associates are the way to go.

ing around the week before our wedding, I scheduled calls with all of our vendors to make sure we had everything we needed and everyone else had a laundry list of things for me - except Joshua. You can rest assured that he's got everything covered which is such a relief when planning a wedding.
We loved that he's not a fan of corny group shots and loved the "broody" tone of his photos which is why we booked him. But after viewing the first round of photos he gave to us from our wedding I see there is so much more - he found pockets of light and areas of our venue that I would have walked right past. Some of the photos I was skeptical about during the shoot (like standing in an outcropping of ferns) are my favorite. I was also shocked to get the first wave of photos two days after our wedding. They were everything I had hoped for and they aren't even retouched yet. Also looking through the crowd shots - I think he managed to capture every single one of our guests in a meaningful way. I am so impressed with the moments he caught on film and the happy expressions he captured on everyone's faces.
I also appreciated that as the night was ending, he checked in with me to see if there was anything else I wanted captured. I felt like he really cared that we got everything we were hoping for out of working with him.

On the day of, we were hardly aware of Joshua's presence, yet he managed to capture all the right moments beautifully. And his editing job was second to none - the final product was heart-felt and reflected exactly the mood we'd asked him for. Turn around time was as promised. And, to top it off, Joshua went out of his way (in a big way!) after the wedding day to fulfill an urgent special request for certain footage that we needed. ime, we were living in Boston and Joshua traveled up for an early morning shoot to beat the morning foot traffic of the Boston Public Gardens. We had such an amazing experience then and knew we had made the right decision hiring Joshua for our wedding as well. Joshua is very punctual as well as knowledgeable. He was always looking to the surroundings for the best spots to take a picture, even if they were off the beaten path. He definitely has a more relaxed capturing style, to get the "in the moment" shots. While we were on our honeymoon Joshua had sent us 100 of his favorite pictures. We loved seeing some of our wedding photos so soon (I couldn't believe how fast!) and they were just beautiful. I would say less than a month after our wedding Joshua provided us with all of our wedding photos, and the full collection was just stunning. Well Joshua did just that. Joshua is not the type of photographer that gets in the middle of a crowd and makes his presence known, he is more the type to fall back, paying attention to the little details, capturing all the intimate moments happening all around. . IT WAS SO WORTH IT. His pictures made our reception and wedding look more beautiful than I even remember it. And best of all, he really captured amazing candid moments with just about every click of his camera. Hiring him was the best wedding prep decision we made. He was very professional and easy going. After our marriage ceremony, we were running late to meet him for another photo session. He was patient, yet helped us get the most out of the limited time that we had. My hair was getting a bit frazzled and my dress started to wrinkle, but somehow he was able to make everything look perfect. The wedding video they made for us is very well done. Joshua’s team was very friendly and pleasant to work with, and they are all incredibly skilled. They were also very prompt to respond to questions and to send us pictures, etc.
Right after the wedding party ended, Joshua sent us some of the highlights so we could enjoy them over the honeymoon. We were in awe of how stunning the pictures turned out to be. We are in love with Joshua Brown Photography.

to capture candid and personal moments that can’t be planned or staged. Of course, he’ll cover all of the traditional family and friend group shots, the first dance, cutting the cake, bouquet toss, etc etc. He’s great at staging those. But the photos we and our guests love the most from our wedding are the ones in which the people in the frame are just being themselves, enjoying the moment, unaware of the photographer. In that sense, Josh is great about floating around the festivities, mingling with guests and not making a big show of being a professional photographer.
He was very easy to work with in terms of setting up the logistics – flights, hotels, cars, etc. And he was great about covering multiple locations and multiple things prior to, during and after the wedding. He covered two different locations around LA, about an hour apart, to get photos of my wife and I getting ready. Then the ceremony took place in a different location. Then we had a reception later that day close to Thousand Oaks, in my wife’s parents’ back yard. Again, Josh was great about covering all of those locations.
Josh was great in terms of coaching us through the day. We had a lot of help from friends and family. But whenever we were on the spot, (which happened a lot that day) with everyone staring at us, watching our every move, Josh , with his calm and reassuring demeanor, talked us through it all and even rescued us from a couple potentially embarrassing moments.
He and his team have been very easy to work with in the wake of the festivities as well. He got us early copies of the wedding before we left on our honeymoon. We had a lot of fun in the following days and weeks soaking it all in, with the help of the photos. And he’s been really helpful and patient with us as we chose the music for our video and our favorite pictures for our album.
Finally, as for the pictures themselves – I really didn’t imagine any of the photos or videos would live up to the reality of that day. Photos and videos almost never do. But they were really beautiful and captured the moments that we want to remember. They also helped us see our festivities and friends and family from perspectives that obviously escaped our attention. (Everything was a bit of a blur that day.)

We got married on January 2, 2016. We heard about Joshua from a friend. We got married in NYC (Brooklyn - at the Liberty Warehouse). However, we did our first look at the Grand ...
Hyatt in Manhattan, took our couples pictures on the roof at the Hyatt, then went to Grand Central for more couples photos before going to Liberty Warehouse (the venue). At the venue, we did more couples pictures followed by our group photos at Liberty Warehouse which meant group photos of the 9 groomsmen, the 9 bridesmaids, the 2 flower girls and one ring bearer, AND 40+ family members!!! To say that Joshua and his team were calm and professional would be an understatement. They managed to calmly and seamlessly take pictures (posed and candid) at 3 different locations, in addition to the ceremony, the cocktail hour and the very festive wedding (over 200 guests and lots of personalities). Throughout the day, Joshua was a steady hand and for me as the bride, that was exactly what I needed. I don't even remember seeing him or his crew at the ceremony, cocktail hour or reception. They just blended in! We've now gotten our pictures and they are AMAZING. The candid shots from the venue are fantastic and the pictures form Grand Central are breathtaking. We've ordered pictures as well and they are already framed. Everyone who sees them can't stop commenting on the quality. We highly recommend Joshua and his team!

Not only was his communication, organization, and professionalism top notch but his picture quality was absolutely incredible. We are blown away by the pictures and his (and his staff's) ability to seemingly be everywhere and capture every important moment.

lso very professional and a man of his word. We got married at night in the middle of winter, under challenging lighting conditions. Joshua still took excellent pictures. Most of all, his timing was fantastic. He captured candid moments that many wedding photographers, who tend to focus on "traditional" shots, would have missed. If you're going to use him, this is something that you need to be aware of, and want for yourselves. Although he still does some traditional shots, he takes more of a "street photographer" approach to his photography, rather than classic, run of the mill wedding shots. Joshua stayed as late as we needed him and patiently worked with us after the fact to narrow down the pictures we wanted for our album. His website was very easy to use and we received our photos without a long wait. A final point worth noting: Joshua's assignment with us ended approximately two hours early. Even though we got married five years ago, Joshua is sticking to his word to let us complete our time with him at a location of our choosing. That speaks volumes about his integrity and honesty. I highly recommend him.

Joshua focused less on the scene and more on interactions and reactions. This approach best captured the moments that were most important for us to remember as well as those that we missed. It was fun to see how much fun our guests had and how touched they were by the ceremony without needing to ask.
Besides producing beautiful photos that told a detailed story story about our experiences that day, Joshua was wonderful to work with. He was creative and enjoyed what he was doing. He never told us what to do, got in the way, or intruded on a special moment -- most of the time we were unaware he was there. He has a low-key relaxed demeanor and takes his work seriously so I didn't have to worry about it, which made for a non stressful wedding day from start to finish. I was particularly impressed when a random guest without our consent began ordering Joshua around about what posed photos he should shoot. Joshua complied with the requests, ignored the guest's disrespectful tone, and quickly turned his attention back to the party at large. This could have easily turned into a dramatic scene, but instead it was nothing more than a blip on my radar. I am so grateful for his professionalism in that moment.
Overall my husband and I love our photos, received numerous unsolicited praises from friends and family on the images and albums, and have nothing negative to say about working with Joshua. We highly recommend him!

photos, I immediately knew he would be capable of capturing our day in the more relaxed style I was hoping for. His rates were very competitive and the booking process was simple and straightforward. He was prompt and courteous throughout all of our email exchanges in the months and weeks leading up to the wedding. In addition to the base package, we paid to have Joshua bring a second photographer and had him set up a photo booth which was triggered by our guests.
We were married at the Bowery Hotel in NYC in May 2014, and we are so thrilled with how our photos turned out. Joshua and his associate were able to capture so many incredible moments...from the getting ready shots, to our first look and couple portraits, to the ceremony and the reception, the photos truly express the the beauty and emotion of the entire day. I love the candid feeling of the photographs. Looking back at them allows me to not only re-live the day as I remember it, but to see it through the eyes of all of our guests.

He has a keen eye to capture great casual moments without being in your face, we didn't even notice him much around at the wedding but after looking at the photos he was everywhere and capturing great natural moments with our family and friends.
