The Julia Morgan ballroom is a beautiful venue in the heart of San Francisco. Our wedding had about 175 people, a DJ, a photo booth, and a large staff helping with the food and logistics of the event, and it was very comfortable. The team that works at the Julia Morgan Ballroom was easy to work with and they are extremely knowledgeable about putting on successful weddings. The venue is very popular so make sure to book early, but if you can hold your wedding there we can’t recommend it highly enough.
NOT EVEN A STAR.
It took about 2 months to get rid of wedding planning stress since our wedding day. FIRST, Let me start with two sentences for you -
1) If you want to choose this place for your big day, get ready to work with Lillian, who is unresponsive to emails and left us with no choice but reach out to a JMB VP named Phil. Phil was shocked by her behavior and level of unprofessionalism.
2) Lillian, who is the director of the wedding at JMB and has an assistant named AMY WALKER. Basically, AMY misunderstood everything and messed up our decorating plan, causing me to get sick right before my wedding day.
3) Additionally, I found a review on Yelp that said JMB deletes bad reviews, so be careful.
Here is my review I left on Yelp. Please read my review and stay away from those 2 women.

Planning a wedding remotely can be super stressful, so over-communicating details is crucial. We had a lot of back and forth throughout the process, but ultimately, the JMB staff made the venue so beyond beautiful and perfect for our big day. Every ounce of anxiety leading up to the event melted away that weekend as the staff was so attentive, kind, and organized.
My husband and I got married on 8/10/18 and Julia Morgan Ballroom was the perfect wedding reception venue for us. It was difficult to find a venue in San Francisco large enough to fit our guest count as we expected about 200 guests AND match our personalities well. To no disappointments, JMB had the exact look & feel we were going for - classy & sophisticated San Francisco vibes. The 3 fireplaces add such an elegant touch as well.
Lillian and Amy were amazing and so wonderful to work with; they helped tremendously in helping execute our wedding vision the day of. Lillian and the rest of the JMB staff were very attentive during our reception and constantly checked up on us as well as our guests to make sure we were happy. The food was very delicious; the only thing I wish could have happened was the ability to taste more food at our tasting. There were some items during our tasting that we decided not to order and other items that we did not get to taste. However, Lillian was very honest and made excellent recommendations for substitutions. All of our guests still to this day will let both of us know how good the food was. They were very accommodating as 2 of our guests were vegan and multiple guests had food allergies. They even let us order the exact desserts we really wanted, which they did not necessarily have on their menus - beignets, ice cream sandwiches, and we were able to order the exact wedding cake from the bakery we wanted. The bridal suite was a great size as our wedding party was 20 people, unlike other wedding venues in SF we had toured that had very small bridal suites. They also have associations with nearby hotels, so we were able to block off multiple rooms for our guests travelling out of town. One additional tip of advice for brides: may just have to be patient with communication as some times it would take a few days-weeks to get a response. JMB is a very popular event venue, so it is understandable that they are extremely busy.
The venue is breathtaking, in the heart of the city with gorgeous ballroom views. The ballroom is a gorgeous art deco feel with amazing glass chandeliers that are shaped like a lotus flower. The cocktail bar is something out of the great gatsby and all the fireplaces just make the whole venue so unique! The staff there is super knowledgeable, experienced and organized. The food was great and the atmosphere made it magical! I would definitely recommend additional perimeter lighting for more of a polished look and mood. But overall we were so happy with the venue, the food, vendors, staff, location and the finished look! Lillian and Elexis are really responsive, easy to work with and knowledgeable. Our wedding was gorgeous and fit what we wanted to a T!
We looked at almost a dozen different wedding venues until we toured the Julia Morgan Ballroom. Once we walked in we knew it was where we wanted to get married. The ballroom is stunning and everyone is immediately impressed when they walk in. The floor to ceiling windows creates a romantic space along with the wood details everywhere you look. The history of the ballroom and building was also a fun story for our guests. The layout of the ballroom and cocktail bar area was perfect for what we wanted. We had our ceremony in the ballroom and then flipped the space for the receptions while our guests were in the bar area. Since the majority of our guests were from out of town, we wanted them to enjoy every minute and having everything in one space allows that. The ballroom consists of the whole floor, so everything is nicely spread out and not cramped.
Lillian and Elexis were amazing throughout the entire process and helped us plan out every little detail. From the moment we met with them, they made us feel so comfortable and their warm presence really contributed to our decision to work with them. Everything we needed or wanted was easily accommodated and they, along with our wedding planner, made sure that everything went flawlessly the day of our wedding. The food was easily the best food we’ve ever had at a wedding and the wait staff was excellent. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful venue or perfect staff to have our wedding. All of our guests loved it and it really was the best day ever!!
