I have been in charge of catering for events all over Europe and US and have never worked with a company that has absolutely no customer service like La Hacienda.
We contracted La Hacienda to cater for our Holiday Gala in our 55+ community which was to take place this Saturday January 21st. Our evening was to be a Hollywood themed dinner party with an entertainer from Miami and a buffet dinner from La Hacienda. Unfortunately, many of our residents came down with the Covid Omicron variant and people just did not feel comfortable being in a crowded room which meant that we had to postpone the event. We gave the catering company 3 weeks notice which we felt was plenty of time as they had not prepared anything yet. I do understand that we had signed a contract and could not get our $250 back but wanted to put that towards another date. The owner would not hear of this. He was adamant that we canceled so would just have to lose the money. I explained that with Covid, these are extenuating circumstances but to no avail. We even asked if we could use the $250 maybe to get a cheese plate and have a small get together with neighbors or even get a few cheesecakes that we could freeze for a future event but no. Our entertainer was very understanding and willing to return his deposit but we said we will use that for him when he comes to perform for our new date in November.
The owner was very rude and not the least bit flexible so we not only would not recommend this company but will be telling everyone in our community and other 55+ communities to not use them.
I am writing to tell how extremely disappointed and angry I was about a catering service from La Hacienda Catering on July 2nd for my Father’s Memorial. The food was delivered food to the Mulberry Recreation Center. It was a disaster!
On the contract I had asked for the food to be delivered at 11:00 a.m., and it was not delivered until 11:30 a.m. I had a friend there waiting as they were not serving and wanted her to uncover the food. It was totally unacceptable and unprofessional that serving spoons or forks were not provided! We had just come from a funeral so how were we to have any? It was extremely embarrassing that the guests had to wait over a half hour as my friend and I were trying to open the little bags of cheap silverware that was delivered. Two guests volunteered to go home and bring back some spoons and forks. That was very stressful at a time when we were mourning our Father. We even had the Mulberry staff running around looking for big spoons for serving.
The food was very cheap and below standard for a professional catering company. We were given wimpy loaves of white bread and American cheese. We could have gotten the same breads and meats at Walmart. Also, there was one huge tray that looked like someone had just dumped a bag of chopped lettuce into it. Half the tomatoes were hard and green. The potato salad was terrible.
The dessert trays were horrible with everything piled on it. The carrot cake should have been separated – no one could get them apart. We had to throw out one tray as it was more than 40 could want.
We had an order for 30 – 40 people and they gave us food for maybe 100. Whoever decided on quantity was way off base. We ended up throwing out half of the food. We only needed one tray of everything. What a waste. Why would 40 people need 2 huge trays of macaroni salad and 4 huge containers of salad dressing? We used maybe 1/3 of 2 dressing containers. The cost of the order was over $940!
In my career I did party planning for over 35 years for groups of up to 500 and never saw such a disappointing display of food. Everything was cheap. We would have been better to go to Publix and order trays. The price for this pitiful food was exorbitant. If it had been better quality, it might have been worth it. I had thought that going with La Hacienda Catering it would have been a classier presentation. They advertise sensational food, but it was not.
This was to be a celebration of my Father’s life for Villagers and family, but it was an embarrassment. It was not worth $941.89, and I feel like we had been scammed. I wrote the owner of La Hacienda Catering and did not get a response. There was no apology that there had not been serving spoons or forks with the order or any communication at all.
Amazing, simply amazing. The food got RAVE reviews, the owners and staff are so awesome and will bend over backwards to make YOUR day PERFECT!!! I cannot thank La Hacienda Catering enough!!!!!
I was not crazy about the service or food, we even had a problem with the bar. The food was not great. The meat sauce was salty and the veggies were soggy. The service was mediocre, my husband and I had our own server, she payed special attention to him and just kind of ignored me. They forgot to give us our champagne toast and charged guests for wine when it should have been free. They have to refund us for that. They just seemed a little spacey.
