around the hill, and even though I had seen the La Venta sign a thousand times, didn't realize it was this spectacular. First, Charla was our coordinator and I wish I could write a novel about how much I love this woman. I inquired online, she was prompt in her response and we were able to swing by the venue to check it out on very short notice (I was early for an appointment at Terranea) so we swung by as it was on our way. The second we pulled into La Venta, I knew we would have to get married there... and so the planning began. Charla, from start to finish has been the most amazing coordinator, organizer, relaxer, & now, friend. We did our engagement shots here too, since we couldn't think of a better place to capture some love! At our wedding, we had about 100 people, three food stations, DJ, photographer, videographer, and photo booth. Charla made it ALL HAPPEN so easily and I literally experienced ZERO stress the week leading up to the day and the day of. Everything went smoothly (as smoothly as possible, everyone knows small things can go wrong), our photos, signs, favors, decorations were all preserved and packed up waiting for us when we came back to pick them up. Charla was accommodating & efficient and we all could tell how much she wanted our day to go just right. All of our guests have said how beautiful the venue was, they complimented the food, the bartenders (shout out Carla!), the chefs, everything. I couldn't imagine our wedding anywhere else. Literally - the BEST DAY EVER.
Notes: You get the whole grounds to yourself the whole evening. Uber private and so much more intimate.

Your event must be over at 10pm - it's ok. We bought an extra hour and turned the music down a bit because you're in a residential area (be courteous) - it's still ok.....the alcohol is flowing & music is bumpin', everyone gets tired & everyone is left wanting more rather than wanting to leave early.
Tips:
Do the food stations & get some pasta because it's amazing. We did Filet Mignon, Chicken, Turkey & Prime Rib and the Pasta Bar.
Open Bar is SO worth it - do it.
Dessert Bar - so many options, they're all really good!
Late Night Bites: KOREAN TACOS (maybe I was a little tipsy at the end, but these were so tasty and not at all "bites" - they were hefty little tacos and now I want one.

Made by Meg was incredible. The food was beautiful, yes, but more importantly it was actually delicious. We’re still hearing from guests about how good the meal was, which isn’t something you always hear after a wedding. The service felt professional but warm, and everything ran seamlessly without us ever having to think about what was happening behind the scenes.

but as with any venue, there are pros and cons. I want to help other couples make a totally informed decision with the full scope of knowledge you can only have after the fact!
Pros: Beautifully kept historical property with a stunning view of the LA coastline and perfectly manicured grounds (you get ocean AND garden photos!) An incredibly kind and helpful team (shoutout Savanna, she is a pro!) They are a well oiled machine and make sure your wedding day runs smoothly, while also making you feel special and valued leading up. You don't have to rent anything external (linens, glassware, etc.) unless you want to, which is so helpful. The food is incredible. They give you a recommended vendor list so you can do your own research - the only required vendors are their DJ company (Vox, loved them) and their in house caterer, Made By Meg. They help keep you on track with planning as well!
Cons: For an evening ceremony starting at 5pm, you can't arrive until 3:30. This leaves you very tight on time for pictures. If you don't plan down to the minute, you will be left with hardly any dancing/mingling time. There is a hard stop at 10pm and they keep the sound fairly low due to past neighborhood complaints. The in house catering company makes delicious food, but we did have a couple issues with them. They are very expensive (standard in LA) but were not upfront multiple times about their end of pricing. Almost every time I looked over a new proposal draft, there were additions/upcharges I hadn't approved. I had to comb through very carefully to make sure I wasn't overcharged. The minimum catering fee is very high (we got married on a Saturday night and fell short at 117 guests.) To be clear, this is not La Venta's fault, but since you are required to work with MBM, the experience goes hand in hand.
I wouldn't change our day for the world and am very grateful to the La Venta team, hence the 5 stars! But I would've loved the full low down before signing the contract, hope this helps future couples!

Venta Inn took our breath away. It is more than just a beautiful venue. The history and structure of the place, the surroundings, the view and the staff that took care of us were all so inviting. We felt the intimacy, joy and warmth that all the couples who got married there must have felt. It is such a gorgeous place! That same day we set foot in it was the day we decided to have our wedding there.
Throughout the course of our wedding preparation, wedding day itself and after the wedding, La Venta did not disappoint. Our wedding coordinator Leslie was a savior! She is very very efficient at what she does! She made sure everything was prepared.. From the guests list, food and drinks, other vendors, ceremony line-up, to the cake design, centerpieces, etc.. She was on top of it! She made sure my husband and I had our private moment right after the ceremony. She had food and champagne ready for us and made sure we wouldn't get hungry and that we would be able to taste all our yummy food! She helped bustle my complicated dress. She made sure that the event flow was nice and smooth, and it was! All our guests said there was never a dull moment at our wedding. The day after the wedding, she had all the items left behind packed up so that they were ready for us to pick them up. I LOVE HER!
La Venta Inn does not need a lot of decoration anymore. As it is, there is already so much character and beauty that our photos turned out so picturesque. And the view, oh the view! Even the highest quality pictures and videos can't give it justice.

One of the best parts of this venue is that we were able to provide our own alcohol and that we were able to use Food Trucks as our catering which were really important to us!
I had so many DIY things that I was worried about the time I would spend setting everything up. Since we were an off-season wedding, we were able to come in Thursday to set most everything up and then Lauren and her crew finished off everything Saturday before the wedding.
I was a little concerned about space because I had about 225 people come, but the seating for the ceremony was perfect. The inside was a tight squeeze, but we all fit and the venue was just great! Being able to be upstairs and downstairs for different parts was really nice! It made people mingle more which was great.

You have to use their caterer, New York Food Company, but every item served was delicious. Everyone of our guests had a great time. I wish they allowed for more time at the venue. tly what I wanted. Gorgeous view of the ocean and city, quaint, romantic gazebo, and just this wonderfully romantic tuscan feel to the entire location. Tim Kennedy was our wedding coordinator (a coordinator comes with the package), and he was ON TOP of everything. I can't recommend him enough. He made sure everything was in place, and was super responsive and accommodating. All the guests at the wedding said the venue was just magical. The food and cake also were really good - i had several comments about the cake being delicious. You must go with the food and cake vendor here (unless you want to pay a ton extra), which at first was a bit disappointing to me because I wanted some choice, but actually it made things super easy and the quality was great. They even pack up a little dinner+cake for you after the wedding since I barely ate!
All and all, I highly recommend La Venta. If you can get it right during off season (we had ours in early November), it is a bit cheaper and still gorgeous. Thank you Tim and La venta!

The venue feels so intimate and special because it's just you and your guests, and it feels like you are having a big party in a home. Our coordinator, Lauren, was amazing from start to finish and went above and beyond anything and everything we requested. She made suggestions that were better than what we had thought of but without being pushy. She set up everything for us, including the votives, which saved my florist time. They also packed everything up for us and labeled the boxes with our belongings. The food was amazing! To serve 193 people the staff was fast, efficient, and the food was piping hot and so fresh! The staff does a great job of meeting your needs and being attentive while also being discreet. I even saw a server come down with a tray of drink refills for a table (since the bars were upstairs). Now that's service! Did I mention yet how good the food was? They sent us home with extra food! Two entrees with their side dishes and a plate of our appetizers. My husband and I enjoyed these the next day and the day after, since we were too tired to cook. The two bartenders Matt and Christine were great and accommodated our wide selection of beer (we brought in our own alcohol- another plus to Verandas!) Verandas also has free self-parking, the lot is huge, and guests can leave their car overnight if they have a little too much to drink. I honestly cannot think of one bad thing to say about Verandas, the food, their staff, and the service. I didn't worry about one thing during the rehearsal or the wedding and had a stress-free amazing event. You will not be disappointed with Verandas and all they have to offer.

When we asked for a strawberry lemonade and sweet tea station set out, they didn't ask for any more fees. And the included Wedding Co-ordinator is amazing! This would cost thousands anywhere else. We had Tim, and he was awesome. Totally professional, prepared, on the ball. We had a touch of June gloom at our wedding, which was unfortunate, but it cleared up by sunset (and Tim hustled out there to the minute!) and the cityscape at night was beautiful. And Larry, the head chef, was perfect. We had a small plate menu, and Larry made some amazing dishes for us. Don't be afraid to challenge Larry, he did some amazing outside the box work for us. Downside: it's a smaller venue. We had 95, and it was perfect. Location. It's in Palos Verdes, and we're in Santa Monica, so getting down there on weekdays for appointments became a chore.

This was so unexpected and nice to work with a vendor who was all about giving us the best value. We had some slightly unusual requests and they made everything happen seamlessly. Additionally, the food was amazing. We are foodies, as were many of our guests and they could not stop talking about the food.
We wanted a picturesque local destination wedding and La Venta served as the perfect location for it and more. If you are wanting a large wedding more than 150 it might be too small (we had less than 100). We had our first dance outside in a gazebo overlooking the ocean. Our guests not only enjoyed the breathtaking ocean, but also loved the views of the city. Not to mention the sunset photos we all got! We can't say enough about La Venta - it was truly a dream come true.

he entire experience was a delight. Tim was absolutely amazing through the whole process. He had such a gracious, low key manner but always got the job done. When we were getting down to the wire, we were exchanging emails almost daily, working out each detail. There was another wedding at the site that afternoon before our event, so there was very little time for La Venta to break down everything from that wedding and set up our many hanging candles, flowers, linens, etc. Everything was stunning when we arrived. NYFC's cuisine was delish. The wedding cake they prepared was exquisite and done exactly as we had requested. We are so grateful for all the beautiful memories made possible by La Venta.

The property is beautifully maintained and offers many scenic backdrops for wedding photos, and is close enough to the beach for photos on the sand before/after a wedding.
