The venue was wonderful, everything turned out perfectly! We had an outside ceremony on the patio and reception in the ballroom which was beautiful. The staff was fantastic and the food was great!
This venue is absolutely beautiful in every way. The staff were wonderful to work with and they went out of their way to make our day special. I highly recommend this venue and working with Lisa and their wonderful team. It is the perfect place to get married.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Lisa Johnson was an absolute delight to work with and handled so many of my changes with grace. I can't say enough about how amazing our wedding was. Planning a wedding during the pandemic was beyond stressful, our original venue did not work out and we were scrambling until we found out that Lake Quivira was available. Lisa assisted with planning and even accommodated our VERY lsat minute request to also have the ceremony on site. The entire event was successful and went off without a hitch. Thank you LQ team for a wonderful experience!
I have to say that of ALL (and I mean ALL) the venues we have reached out to Quivira people have been the rudest and most unhelpful. If that is the level of care that I can expect for my wedding, I'd keep looking... and I have.
We can't say enough about how amazing Lake Quivira was for our wedding reception. Every member of the staff was accommodating and helped us make our wedding day perfect. The venue itself is beautiful and all of our guests could not stop talking about how much they loved it. Food was delicious, highly recommend the twice baked potatoes :)
Lake Quivira Country Club is absolutely gorgeous. We had both our ceremony and reception here. When we first booked this venue, the events coordinator was amazing, and then she quit! It was only a month or two before our wedding and the event coordinator we had been dealing with for the last year planning this entire wedding had left. My now husband and I went into full panic mode. They had an interim person who was trying her best to keep everyone happy but seemed a bit overwhelmed. Then they finally hired a new person just a little over a week before our wedding. Her name was Michelle and the day of our wedding she was amazing. Someone who we had never met before and never discussed our vision for our wedding seemed to know it all. She was very professional and was constantly making sure we were happy. She kept the day moving along and was top notch. I was so worried about the day of our wedding, but Michelle had it all under control for only being put into the position a week prior. You would have thought we had worked with her from day one of the wedding planning process. Overall our guests enjoyed themselves and so did my husband and I.
Shannon and the entire staff at Lake Quivira were perfect. It was a beautiful venue for a Christmas-themed wedding. The decorations provided by the venue (Huge christmas trees, wreaths, garland and lighting on the stairway) really set the stage for a gorgeous evening, without having to do ANY decorating! The food was yummy and the bartenders kept the booze flowing - the staff did an amazing job. Thanks, Shannon!
The staff was amazing and everything was exactly what we wanted.
I couldn't of imagined a more magical venue for my wedding! Beautiful nature around and beautiful lake right in the back with a sand beach. The guests and family loved it so much. The customer service was amazing, helped us out with so much, very easy to talk to. We are Russian and they were very understanding with our traditions and food. Shannon Brown, the wedding coordinator was the sweetest! Definitely recommend this venue to anyone who wants the wedding of their dreams (:
Thanks GM Geary, Clubhouse Manager Mark, Event Planner Shannon, Chef Michael, Space Coordinator Richard, along with Brenda and Frank from Security, and Lake Quivira staff. We hosted 300 for our daughter's wedding. Quivira didn’t miss a beat with the quality of venue, food, and service provided.
Mark advised needing to consider Plan B because of weather moving in. Mark and Geary diligently watched the radar as rain moved into the area. Nobody panicked. The staff pulled cushions and tablecloths off the patio prior to the brief shower. Afterward, they wiped down the chairs for the wedding guests, not once but twice, and quickly replaced all the items on the patio. Shannon had the procession lined up and ready to start right on schedule. The blessing provided a comfortable temperature for the wedding and patio cocktail hour. After the beach wedding,
the cocktail hour was enjoyed with a well-staffed bar and roaming delicious, gourmet appetizers. The quail eggs with sweet bacon were the hit of the hour! But the caprese skewers with balsamic glaze, mini proscuitto wrapped melon, bacon wrapped scallops and sesame encrusted ahi tuna with wasabi tobiko and sriracha were all delicious as well.
Afterward, the crowd filed up to the ballroom (decorated by Landers Vision, Branches and Twigs floral, Ultrapom and All Seasons) for Chef Michael’s delicious, perfectly-prepared dinner executed nearly flawlessly and with timing the Kansas City Symphony would appreciate. We dined on roasted tenderloin with bordelaise, herb persillade halibut with tomato butter sauce, roasted brussel sprouts with bacon, and balsamic and parmesan buttermilk and fresh herb whipped potatoes. Champagne was poured and delivered in time for the toasts at the end of the meal. The wedding cake (Aleta's) and ice cream and sorbet were ready to serve shortly thereafter. Seating and the entire meal service for 32 tables was executed within an hour and fifteen minutes! A timely, warm late-night snack was gobbled up and guests continued to dance (Elite Entertainment Group) and enjoy the open bar refreshments with little to no wait. Thank you Guillermo, Latonya, Bruce, Jasmine, Liz, Morgan, Penny, Danny, Joanna, Tyler, Amanda and anyone else we might have missed! Your well wishes and service were greatly appreciated.
From the initial meeting with Shannon, to the tasting with Chef, to the final run-through meeting, to the seamless execution throughout the night, we could not have been happier. There was clear and constant communication on both sides. Shannon provided invaluable advice in several areas for the evening and never seemed annoyed with questions I am sure every bride and MOB ask. We used most of her recommendations for vendors and were thrilled. Mark was engaged as well in planning. It was tremendously clear to us that the Lake Quivira staff gave 110%. They cheerfully interacted with guests during the evening. We really felt the love and warmth from the staff, family, and friends who helped celebrate Connor and Bailey’s nuptials that night. They couldn’t have had more fun!
When planning an event or wedding, please consider Lake Quivira. There are those nuances that you can’t put your finger on exactly, but you know it comes from the heart of people who care and do their best to make your event relaxing, enjoyable, and successful. You knocked it out of the park for us, Lake Quivira… thank you!
We had both our ceremony and reception at Lake Quivira Country Club! It was absolutely beautiful! Shannon, Lake Quivira's Event Coordinator, did an excellent job to ensure everything ran smoothly! The food was delicious and the staff was super friendly! We had 300 guests attend, and we never felt cramped for space. I truly have only great things to say about Lake Quivira Country Club. Everyone there made our wedding day perfect!
Lake Quivira and Shannon were simply amazing. We had our wedding outside on the patio and it was beautiful. The Club has gorgeous planters so we didn't need any extra decorations for the ceremony. Shannon was fantastic to work with and was always available to answer any questions we had. We booked most of our other vendors off of her recommendations and they were wonderful. Shannon was there the day of the wedding to make sure that everything went smoothly. I cannot say enough of the staff of Lake Quivira, they went above and beyond to make sure that the day was perfect. I would highly recommend having your ceremony and reception here!
We had our ceremony in the ballroom, cocktail hour on the patio, and reception in the ballroom. The venue was beautiful and it was really nice to have the option for the ladies to get ready at the clubhouse the morning of the wedding. Flipping the ballroom from the ceremony to the reception was no problem for the staff and it was great to have everything in one place so that my small town family members and guests didn't have to try to navigate the KC area going from one venue to the next.
The major complaint I have is the communication. We were told that we would have 2 buffet lines, but when we showed up to the reception, we only had one. Come to find out, if you have under 150 guests, they only use one buffet line. The management had a final guest count 4+ days before the wedding and knew we were under the 150 person limit, but did not notify us of the change. If we would've known prior to the reception we would have been just fine with it, but we panicked the night-of thinking that one whole side of the buffet did not get set-up. Furthermore, we were told that we would have all alcohol/liquor included in the premium package; however, the bar was only stocked with one brand of each type of liquor, which also would have been okay if we had been notified beforehand so that we could request specific brands of each type. Also, we had previously given our DJ the order in which we wanted the tables dismissed, but for some unknown reason the DJ was told by management that Tables 15&16 were family, when in fact they were just friends, so they were released to eat before our families, which was quite embarrassing. Some smaller issues included no vases on the head table for the bouquets as discussed in the event order, no napkins on the head table for dinner, the s'mores bar sterno had been lit during the ceremony and was burnt out before the reception even started, and my grandmother's cake boards were discarded because nobody was explicitly told not to throw them away. My keepsake garter fell off during the reception and I placed it at my seat at the head table so that I wouldn't lose it and it was discarded by staff at the end of the night.
Overall, the venue was beautifully set up, and for the most part any mistakes were ratified quickly. We just wish the communication had been better so we were not blindsided the day-of with things we were not expecting.
So happy we chose Lake Quivira as our venue for both our ceremony and wedding reception. It is a beautiful spot for photographs, the food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were all so friendly and attentive. Shannon was so helpful through the entire wedding planning. She is quick to answer questions and offer suggestions. On the day of, she helped keep everything running smoothly and helped us with so much!
Fantastic experience. This was the one and only location I looked at for the wedding and right away my husband and I knew we wanted to get married here. Shannon, Lake Quivira's wedding planner, was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. My mom and I did most of the planning together and Shannon made us feel like everything on the country club's side was taken care of. Everything turned out like I imagined. They also did inside catering (we did breakfast for dinner) and it tasted awesome. Everything turned out great!
We had our wedding at Lake Quivira in January. It was nothing short of fantastic. All the staff throughout the year and a half journey were great. Shannon was always responsive and had suggestions for anything we needed. The food was fantastic and we had no complaints from guests (We did the salmon and beef). The open bar prices were so reasonable and so worth the cost with how friendly the bartenders were. We received plenty of complements from guests on the venue, food, and drinks. As stated below, the gate was not a problem especially with the passes that Shannon gives to you to allow guests easy access into the club. The price of the food and drinks were very affordable for what was served. We were very happy with our reception and would recommend it to all.
First and foremost, they don't have any control of the beach or docks during your ceremony (if you're having it outdoors). We had some very rude residents in the background during our ceremony. Just got our videography back...we have an f-bomb and a couple other curse words coming from the docks during our vows. Not Cool LQ, not cool...After review, it was obvious that the residents out on the docks were intentionally trying to distract the attention of our guests. Also, food is not nearly as good as the taste test (we had the lake quivira buffet). Both meats were way overdone (steak was beyond 'well done' - supposed to be medium rare). Beautiful venue and seems cost sensible, but does not live up to expectations. Thanks, but no thanks - we recommend you spend your money elsewhere. I
Lake Quivira was hands down the perfect choice for our wedding. We held the ceremony on the patio (Sunset Terrace) and the reception in the Ballroom. Shannon, the venue coordinator, we fantastic. I emailed her probably 100 times with questions throughout our engagement and she was fairly quick to respond and always polite and helpful. There are so many add-ons that were included in our cost, including all tables, chairs, linens, table-settings, candles, etc which helped immensely from both a budgeting and a sanity perspective. The staff was top notch, as well. The food was fantastic; they have a menu packet to choose from, however Chef Michael is willing to discuss other ideas and excited use his creativity to create a memorable meal. We wanted something non-traditional that incorporated our favorite flavors and Chef created a DELICIOUS blackened chicken with jambalaya and roasted Brussels sprouts served with a starter salad and cornbread with honey butter--my only complaint is that the plate was much prettier at our tasting than at the actual event, but everyone RAVED about how good it was. The staff did an excellent job circulating the passed hors d'oeurves, which was a major plus for my mother who was concerned that only the people near the entrances would be served! The flexibility we were given to truly create our event, paired with the ease of doing business, reasonable price, superior service and the gorgeous space makes LQ an event venue I will recommend for years to come.
We had our cocktail hour on the patio of LQ and the reception upstairs in the ballroom. It was absolutely beautiful. We loved the staff. Throughout the entire process Shannon was helpful and willing to help make our ideas happen. She set up our sweets table and many other decorations. We also got nothing but compliments about the food. Chef Michael made the process of picking out food enjoyable. And the food was equally as amazing the night of the wedding. We had a great time. The venue is classy but still was a lot of fun. The gate entry was easy (I was worried about it) . The staff, especially the bar tenders, were so nice. The bride and groom get to ride around the lake and we got great pictures from that. The only complaint we got from guests is that the elevator was hard to find for people needing help with mobility.
Great atmosphere for entertaining guests and getting romantic beach/lake/golf course photos. The food was incredible and we were complimented on how "it wasn't the usual dried out chicken and tough carved beef that you normally get at a reception!"
The food was great. The help was outstanding and the view was magnificent. Completely satisfied!
Perfect venue for a casual reception. Takes some creativity to dress it up, but everyone LOVED it. The lake was the perfect setting!! We got great pics and everyone is still raving about how fun and unique it was. The security was a bit hard to work with, had to provide a guest list, but it ended up working out.
The atmosphere was amazing, both inside and out on the beach. The food was absolutely delicious -Chicken Fricassee. Natalie (their coordinator) made the whole process very easy.
Lake Quivira Country Club was amazing. It was exactly what I had dreamed about. Beautiful and everything was perfect. Karen, the event coordinator was wonderful and knew what she was doing. We had our recpetion in the ballroom on the top floor. Beautiful room overlooking the lake. The price was right as well.
I chose to have my wedding reception at Lake Quivira because the setting is just beautiful. The grand ballroom has an outdoor balcony that overlooks the lake and beach below. The interior set up was perfect for a 250 person wedding. The dance floor is in the center, wtih seating on both sides. And the dance floor was the perfect place for our cake, as it was the first thing guests saw when the walked into the room. I loved it!
Lake Quivira was absolutely incredible to work with. Karen was our coordinator at the site, and she worked very hard to make everything perfect! The country club is waterside, so the view is incredible and amazing for pictures. The ballroom has been re-done recently and is a gorgeous blank canvas -- perfect for weddings since it will work with any scheme. (And we loved all of the windows overlooking the beach and lake!) The food was AMAZING and the pricing was unbelievable for the quality of food. Our reception was beautiful, classy, fun, and everyone is still talking about it!
